981  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit for Crypto (and other) Knowledge (no guide threads) on: September 04, 2019, 01:18:32 AM

This is way to many submissions. In the future, please limit your submissions to 5-10 posts max.

Also, although off topic, I do believe you should stop advertising LiveCoin in your signature. A recent scam accusation has shown them to have very shady business practices, including operating on fractional reserves for extended periods of time.

I am a beginner and am studying the world of cryptoqurency

You should put more effort into learning about crypto. See these two resources to help you get started learning:

982  Other / Meta / Re: Is it possible to reverse a given merit sent mistakenly to a different post? on: September 03, 2019, 12:47:27 PM
In general too, it would be cool if there was a feature to reverse a merit within 10 mins of sending it.

Quickseller would start a new business selling merits for crypto and also acting as the third party escrow.  :/

Thats a negative ghost rider.

Although I am a believer in the free market, I don’t have an interest in selling merit and I don’t think people should sell it either.

If you are implying I would sell merit and subsequently reverse the transaction, that would be receiving money for nothing and I wouldn’t do that either.

It’s nice to see that I am living rent free in your head.

I agree with the OP. You should have a grace period to reverse sent merit. Some people use phones with small screens that make it easy to misclick. Others may otherwise make mistakes in giving merit.
983  Economy / Reputation / Re: what happened with xetsr? on: August 30, 2019, 03:29:25 AM
Was there an obituary published? If so, where and when?

If you do end up having a video conference with quickseller, make sure you film the conversation and take plenty of screen shots.
Is this the kind of screen shot you are looking for

bigpunhomes - I am just not buying the story. This isn’t something that would go unreported by the local media.
984  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos vs Roger Ver (1:0) on: August 30, 2019, 03:14:25 AM
There are archives of the thread with replies going back to 2014 and the thread that was in the Russia sub from over a month ago.

It is kinda embarrassing how he put in so little effort into verify such a bold claim. Perhaps theymos should demand a retraction and he’ll have to pull a Lawrence O’Donnell and issue a retraction a day later.

I do support a lot of the same things that Ver is trying to support, such as free speech and free markets, even if I don’t support everything he says, does or supports.

He's dead, robbed and shot at gun sight, I can't even login to his account unfortunately, I'm his cousin.
Do you have evidence of this? I would think this would have made the paper if it’s true.

If this is real, I’m sorry for your loss. He was a good guy.

Not sure how I can prove it to you, maybe give me a video call, I'll show you our pictures together and some memories, I just found this thread and I heard about that defaulted loan, just know he WILL never ever run with someone's money he never been like this, he was a good person trustworthy no tricks full honest with the family God have mercy on him.

TMAN and Vod have both sullied their reputations to the point they are untrusted by the forum’s Administrator for making up lies about me.

OK, so we know the bolded part is just another lie from a habitual scammer.

How many times now has the forum admin had to step in to correct OGNasty?

Geese, how fragile is your ego? Perhaps you should read the post one post above yours:

[...]
It's an endless cycle of pointless feuding. Nobody actually cares about the underlying facts -- the arguments are being made purely as a "gotcha" [...] but I challenge all of you to just knock it off. If you can't work together, then ignore each other, even if you're being prodded.
988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [URGENT] Need help cancelling a transaction from a hacker [0.03 BTC bounty] on: August 27, 2019, 03:19:46 AM

My dev was a genius, he managed to recreate and rebroadcast a new transaction after dropping the hacker's one. Utterly stunning. Thank you everyone for the help nonetheless. Great learning experience for me.
Did you forget something?
Given the OP's history, I would not be especially surprised to see him not follow through on his bounty promise. I also have doubts as to his story, but that is besides the point.
989  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins: Account has multiple failed logins from unknown IPs on: August 27, 2019, 02:53:35 AM
It's Failed login attempt, so do not worry much about it.
Anyone can use your username and try to login with random password or even if they know the password (worse case)but your 2fa is not known to them then they can not login to your account but for that attempt it will keep a log which you are seeing in this case.

You will be worried if you see any successful login attempt.
I think this the OP likely had an account with the same email address on another bitcoin exchange or service that has its database hacked/leaked. I think someone is trying permutations of the OP's hacked password on another site.

The OP should make sure his password is entirely unique, and not a permutation of his password elsewhere.
990  Economy / Lending / Re: Is Loan of 1.5BTC Possible to Get Here? on: August 27, 2019, 02:42:48 AM
I am a domain investor and I have total portfolio valued at $500k. Among them are some very popular domains. Are such assets acceptable here as collateral?
You can use whatever you want as collateral, so long as there is a lender willing to accept your collateral.

It is advisable for lenders to not accept a domain as collateral unless they are familiar with the domain market and can independently verify the value of any domain you are offering as collateral.
991  Economy / Services / Re: [Open] Yobit Signature Campaign / Sr. Member- Legendary on: August 18, 2019, 05:37:20 AM
There are a lot of fake YoBit support accounts on various platforms. It is not out of the question that the OP is one of them.

The fake support accounts have previously tricked people into sending money to the person behind the fake support account.

I don’t think YoBit is even paying sig campaign participants.
992  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dust Attack, what it is, why it is dangerous and how to prevent falling to it on: August 18, 2019, 05:32:54 AM
A person at Binance Academy now suggest that it was not a dusting attact per se in intent (although not discardable), but rather an attempt to promote a specific mining pool based in Russia:

Quote
“The person behind the dusting attack owns a mining pool based out of Russia, EMCD[dot]io. They reached out to express that their intent was to advertise their mining pool to the users of Litecoin, however, it's unclear from our perspective or anyone else's as to whether there were alternative motives. The owner of the pool was not aware that he was subjecting all these users to a dusting attack and spreading fear among the Litecoin community.
“It's interesting to note, that even if this was not the intent of the mining pool owner, he provided a base for malicious actors to analyze. You see, the person responsible for conducting the dusting attack doesn't necessarily have to be the one collecting the data, they can just merely be providing a service so that someone else can collect all the information and analyze it at a later date.”

See: https://cointelegraph.com/news/understanding-litecoins-dusting-attack-what-happened-and-why

The intent of the person sending and funding the transactions doesn’t matter. Anyone looking after the fact can potentially break your privacy.

It is also possible the stated reason is cover for his true intentions.
993  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Question about Bittrex Exchange on: August 18, 2019, 05:22:55 AM
You should be upfront about what happened. They may or may not allow you to verify your account. However if you are misleading or dishonest, chances out they will figure it out and will set off additional red flags.
994  Economy / Services / Re: [Open] LocalEthereum Signature Campaign (Hero/Legendary) on: August 18, 2019, 05:14:29 AM
I don’t have time to make as many posts as are required, but this sounds like a project I’d like to support.

Would you mind if I wore the signature (without payment) once they are available?
995  Economy / Reputation / Re: Been out for a week, must have missed some drama - who the fuck is ekiller? on: August 18, 2019, 05:08:04 AM
It does not look like a threat.
Disagreeing with Suchmoon, or questioning her actions is threatening behavior. You need to read up on microaggressions. I am fairly confident the message in the OP triggered Suchmoon, and she quickly ran into a safe space for at least an hour.
996  Economy / Services / Re: Windice.io Signature Campaign(1 open slot) on: August 11, 2019, 07:26:21 PM
Can I join?
Have you repaid your loan?

Bump.
998  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Dirty Turds Poll - Which DT needs flushing first ??????????? on: August 09, 2019, 03:03:56 PM
I have no idea if this is going on or not, but it is possible to send merit from a --> b --> c --> d --> a

I believe this is what the post you quoted is referring to, or something very similar to the above.
4 degrees of separation will connect a huge number of false positives if we're going to accept that kind of merit transaction.

You could say this about almost any member that's sent and received a substantial amount of merit (i.e. users on the list)
I haven’t done any kind of research on this, so I don’t know if there is any credence to the OPs claim.

There are actually only three degrees of separation in my example. You could perhaps filter out cases in which only small amounts of merit is received from a person via three degrees of separation.
The-One-Above-All sent 1 merit to mikeywith. mikeywith has sent merit to Quickseller, who has also sent merit to The-One-Above-All.

The larger you make the circle and the more unique people you send merit to, the higher the chance is of being implicated in a "merit cycling circle" but of course, correlation is not causation.
I don’t think small amounts of merit would constitute the type of “merit circle” that would be any kind of a problem. The sole criteria for merit that I give out is if the post in question is objectively ‘good’ and/or high effort and/or is the type of post that the forum should have more of. I don’t participate in any kind of merit circle arrangement.

If there were larger amounts (either in raw amounts or percentages of merit received) of merit involved, there would be a bigger problem in a “merit circle”, especially if the amounts involved allow for those involved to rank up or more importantly have additional DT votes. I probably wouldn’t be concerned unless there were hundreds of merit involved amongst the “circle”. I haven’t looked into if there are any real merit circles anywhere. I wouldn’t be especially surprised to see one or two that would reasonably be considered abuse when reviewed by a neutral person. I don’t know if anyone the OP is complaining about would be part of any merit circle.
999  Other / Meta / Re: @Theymos sir plsz on: August 06, 2019, 02:29:07 PM
Perhaps the press board could be configured so that it does not count for activity, and that signatures are not displayed in the board. Or at the very minimum, make this true for OPs of each thread.

I believe the above should remove most if not all of the incentive to do what is being described in the OP.

The posters that are spamming their articles as described by op probably care neither about signatures or post count, they just want to drive traffic to their sites by spamming links to them. The only people that care about their sigs and post counts in there will be signature campaigners, but this is a secondary issue of the type of spam op is describing.
Perhaps a solution would be to have search engines not index threads in the press board. A warning message could also be displayed to those not logged in and those with little activity/login time that links posted and often very spammy/low quality.
