321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Am Going To Put Bitcoin On The Moon, And No 1 Can Stop Me! on: January 19, 2021, 08:51:47 AM
This is probably the most efforted blatant Bitcoin begging thread I've seen so far.
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much is the handling fee for Ethernet?High or low compared to bitcoin? on: January 18, 2021, 11:06:41 AM
Bitcoin takes an average of 10 minutes to produce a block, and the transfer speed of Ethernet is obviously much faster.
Which is the lower of the handling fee between the two (e.g. all converted into RMB)?Which has a lower handling fee in the long run?

What's Ethernet? Is it Ethereum that you are referring to? or is it another coin? because it doesn't really make sense. if it's a new coin, then it's pretty obvious that it will have faster transaction because of the numbers of users, as 99% of the shitcoins out there is.

323  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: accusation for using alts (2018) on: January 18, 2021, 09:56:40 AM

324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stable coins are not actual fiat on: January 17, 2021, 04:31:36 AM
Stablecoins and Bitcoin doesn't really have any correlation from each other. To be honest, you don't have to think that much, just think of stablecoins (USDT, etc) as virtual fiats that you can use to buy Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies in the market. It's based on trust (just like fiat) and pretty much just a virtual fiat.

Just don't hold it though because you never know when they are going to messed up.
325  Other / Meta / Re: Users who are blocked without even writing a single post on the forum on: January 17, 2021, 04:06:46 AM
I've registered to forums that made me wait a few days before I could post. That's terribly annoying! But if you're a spammer who registers hundreds of accounts, the 14 days don't matter at all. Take a look at loyce.club/patrol/: almost all of the first posts made by 100 new users are spam. And that's despite the current restrictions on new users.

But what if we reduced it to 1-3 days and on top of that, they have to do a bunch of things before they can post, maybe like 1-3 daily log in requirement, Bitcoin address requirement (It doesn't have to be their BTC that they are using, it's like for verification only), Bitcoin message signature (maybe if it can be somehow be checked automatically). It's like email verification but it's Bitcoin address that we are verifying.

For spammers, this will be a very tedious thing to do than finding a clean IP and spamming registration on that IP.

This will give new users 2 options, do that or pay the fee.

326  Other / Meta / Re: Users who are blocked without even writing a single post on the forum on: January 16, 2021, 02:08:57 PM
I know some people I invited to join the forum, they don't use VPN and never before registered on Bitcointalk forum, but when they tried registration they received Evil fee message, and you can image their surprise when they saw they need to pay for that.
This can be due to the fact that their internet provider is reusing shared IP addresses or they tried registration from public place, but it doesn't change the fact that we are hurting good users in process of preventing evil ones.

This is actually a case in the Philippines because our internet service providers (mobile data internet providers) is reusing shared IP which is why almost every IP has evil score in it. Though they aren't that expensive (mostly less than $1), most of my friends still refuses to pay (so I payed for them lol). People would be reluctant to pay because most people would question why would a forum ask for money, that will be suspicious af for those who don't know what's going on.

Though would it be a good idea to, let's say, instead of permanently blocking newbies with evil score, give them a 14 days restriction to familiarize themselves to the forum? Like every person who registers in an IP address with blue or less evil score will have to wait 14 days to post in the forum.*

Edit: Yup, I can imagine spammers taking advantage of this.

Or maybe like instead of paying the fees, they have the option to insert their BTC address and sign a message? and after registering, direct them to a tutorial on how to get a Bitcoin wallet and how to sign.

Isa pang disadvantage. Pag pangit sulat mo, may chance na hindi mo ito maintindihan in the future (nako lalo na yung mga katulad ko na sulat doktor) or maaaring may ma misspell ka.

I think maganda dito na alternative is print nalang sa isang papel, tapos delete lahat ng files na ginamit like word docs after printing.  Grin

(not much of an advantage I guess)

328  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Ledger: panibagong 20k customer data dump on: January 16, 2021, 12:54:03 PM

329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you bought the dip? on: January 14, 2021, 06:40:09 AM
That $30,000 price range was like an early black friday sale in all of cryptocurrencies market  Grin. I don't know why people panicked when the support from institutional is so strong.

If that is how you put it, that is right in a way. Nobody really knows when it is a dip after it happened. I did not bought the hiccup because I believe that it will be a temporary movement that will only spring the prices back to a higher point in the near future, the last spurt of prices back in 2018 was around the 15th of January so there is still some time left before something uncertain happens.

To be honest, you really can't compare 2018 to 2021. 2018 doesn't have that much support and only full of uncertainty from the investors who thought Bitcoin is a scam which we really can't blame them because of what happened to Bitconnect and ICOs. 2021 started with a strong support from all over the world. Even those who banned Bitcoin is trying to take advantage of it now.
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two attempts for $220 million on: January 14, 2021, 03:14:34 AM
I still don't get why would anyone hold their coins in a wallet that allows a finite attempts to log in.
Just keep your secret phrases and the fact you are playing around in the crypto field a secret.

Same. If someone somehow got a hold of his wallet and tried to attempt to access it, the owner would have no idea that he have already lost his data, along the Bitcoin in it. Though I've heard that, correct me if I'm wrong but I've read somewhere (I don't really remember where) that these kind of lost Bitcoin will eventually return to being unmined, basically people will be able to mine them again, if they are somehow not touched in 50 years or 100 years.

Here is the dark version Smiley

Now this is much better. At first glance, the font for me is still not that visible (probably because I don't have 20/20 vision anymore?). I think it would be better to make it more visible, like making the font a little larger and giving it a little more color to it so that it doesn't fade into the background? anyway, the more I look at it, the more visible it becomes to me so you don't really have to change anything if you don't want to.
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have never seen this in crypto space before on: January 13, 2021, 01:45:20 PM
-snip

This is actually the context that was missing and I've been looking for. Maybe OP just misunderstood and thought it's 50% of the total asset since looking at the fees from their website, it's looking like it's 50% of the minimum withdrawal amount.

Though this fees are still too high in my opinion which many would avoid.
333  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think about this UI? on: January 13, 2021, 12:54:46 PM
It's actually clean and decent but it's too bright. I think The font is too small and too light to see for me. It's hard for the eyes, especially when the background is white and the font is kinda disappearing into the background. The font type, I'm really not a fan because I've gotten used to the default font that is used here in the website. At least that's what I think.
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have never seen this in crypto space before on: January 13, 2021, 12:39:53 PM
Is this actually 50% of the total coin? or 50% of the minimum withdrawal amount? though the context is lacking, I agree that it's pretty absurd for a fee. Even the most reputable exchange that service the fastest transaction speed wouldn't do this.

335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My only BTC regret is this one on: January 13, 2021, 12:22:45 PM
I totally get what you mean; you know, buying bitcoin so cheap that it's almost like you're just buying play money. Sounds lovely, ain't it?

But mate, you gotta be very happy getting in THAT early. I'm guessing most of us here came into this space at 2016/2017 or later. You had a 4-year head start! and 4 years is a pretty pretty sizeable amount of time.

I agree. We even had 2018 that significantly lowered the entry barrier for buying cryptocurrencies.

I think the only regret people will have today is actually knowing Bitcoin but not have the ability to buy it, or don't have the money to spare.
336  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin correction thread. on: January 12, 2021, 10:24:17 AM

337  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin correction thread. on: January 11, 2021, 12:01:35 PM

Tignan nyo yung market ngayon. Halos lahat ng cryptocurrency down ng more or less 20% kaya magandang opportunity ito.
338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China: Bitcoin a hedge against confiscation of wealth? on: January 11, 2021, 11:53:27 AM
Jack Ma's case is just one prime example, doesn't matter how rich you are, if you talk against the Communist regime, sooner or later you will be the target, like stopping his Ant IPO, investigating his company for anti-trust (how ironic), and now he hasn't been seen in public for months, suggesting that he is already arrested.

It's kind of scary though. If they can do it to Jack Ma, one of the wealthiest person in the world, they can do it to anyone. You can even see how powerful regulators are in China. Even Bitcoin wouldn't be a safe haven for the rich people since China can still track it. I think this is where privacy coin comes to play.
339  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin correction thread. on: January 10, 2021, 08:20:53 AM

340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you usually find a new investment oppertunities/projects? on: January 10, 2021, 08:08:56 AM
usually from this forum itself however it is a little risky because not all that was posted here are investment opportunity the scam and worthless project has a higher number rather than the real and profitable ones.

I second this. At least most projects that are posted here have comments or reviews from other members which we can formulate something. Anyway, you usually just try to find sites that list ICO/New projects to be aware and you do your own research from there. Maybe join a discord server, telegram, or something.
