1021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any Dead Alt's With No Devs? on: December 04, 2013, 07:29:57 PM
I thought namecoin was "hacked" and is kinda dead. Prove me if I'm wrong.
1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long will cryptsy stay broken?? ?? 1 week 2weeks 3weeks? ban bots also ffs on: December 04, 2013, 07:27:06 PM
Every other exchange works better than cryptsy because cryptsy is overflown right now. You move all this people to other exchange and it will crash under load too.

On the other hand slow deposits =  highly suspicious. Pool operator sees large quantities of some coin incoming, he stalls them as long as he can, while adjusting market orders in his favor. Selling before deposits are allowed to go through, etc.
1023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: December 04, 2013, 06:57:08 PM
Tried out your pool for a little bit.

Trying to cash out 0.01 btc, no reaction, page simply refreshes. It's been 8 hours since my try, I think.
1024  Economy / Services / Re: Feed Some Children by Dabs (Donate Bitcoins) 2,490 meals so far! on: December 04, 2013, 12:55:33 PM
Also you can advertise this charity in user signature space. If someone cannot or will not donate money, maybe he will donate his sig space.

Good idea. Although, you might want to advertise another bitcoin site that pays you, then you can donate some or all of those sig earnings here. Some pay anywhere from 0.03 BTC to 0.60 BTC per month, depending on post count and other requirements.

No thank you sir

Since my dad died I've been living in debt, so I'm keeping every penny I squeeze, no charities there to feed me, gotta do it myself. I do not believe in charities, I think there's too many people on this globe, and those who cannot make it, "should" die off, that's"natural order of life". You cannot save everyone. You shouldn't. My two coldhearted bastard cents. I write in this thread only because I am a pragmatic and like to (which is my flaw) preach pragmatism. There's too many resources wasted on logistics and other stuff. Every penny should be counted and accounted for.

I'll give you an idea. If you take your biggest local supermarket chain and count how many products are wasted/spoiled there daily, I believe you could feed 5000+ kids.
1025  Economy / Services / Re: Feed Some Children by Dabs (Donate Bitcoins) 2,490 meals so far! on: December 03, 2013, 03:14:50 PM
Re-read the full topic, want to make somemore comments, and a free bump, you're welcome...

First, why are people who can't even feed THEMSELVES making children? This is ridiculous. Nobody EVER addresses the root of the problem...
Exactly my point. It's like "kitten infestation". Some granny keeps non-sterile cat. Cat gives birth to 6 kittens. Granny is too soft, and decides to keep those 6 kittens instead of drowning them. 2 die to natural causes, 4 live on. In 2 years she will have 10+ kitten bonus every 3-4 months.

A: As a member and Officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, I also regularly participate in disaster relief efforts, search and rescue missions, medical, dental and engineering civil-military operations, free haircuts, free circumcision, feeding programs and other outreach type activities. We interact with local government units to host and sponsor these events.
Free circumcisions? Maybe it would be better to avoid those, saving time, money and some foreskin? About free haircuits - every neighborhood should have those. Hair clippers are so cheap and easy to operate, they can teach kids to to that in schools.

@franky1, I'm in the Philippines. The price I get the bags are Php 1640. There is a corporate matching program, but need minimums to activate them, like 5 bags, 8 bags, etc.
24.75$ at the official site. While on other sites price differs. Maybe it is possible to cut out the middle man, cause I doubt that shipping could cost that much, especially in bulk. Also went through nutrition info, and it's not perfect. It's very good for 25$but not for 40$.For 40$ one could increase amount of proteins in that thing. Some nuts, even peanuts, and maybe soy. Philippines are #40 in soy production in the world, if google does not lie.

By any means, Dabs is a good guy, but if you're going to donate something, you should try to tweak this thing to maximize output.

Also you can advertise this charity in user signature space. If someone cannot or will not donate money, maybe he will donate his sig space.
1026  Other / Off-topic / Re: Actor Paul Walker dies in a car crash on: December 01, 2013, 03:22:33 PM
That's why you should stick to a slower and bulky ford or jeep or something that will not wrap around a pole you crash into.
1027  Economy / Services / Re: Feed Some Children by Dabs (Donate Bitcoins) 2,490 meals so far! on: December 01, 2013, 03:13:41 PM
Dabs I am making an app for Hive for you. This is what it looks like so far. Do you want me to change anything?

I'm sincerely not trying to troll anyone here, but 50$ = 30 days of food for a kid?

I can live off a less amount/month, and my bodymass is much higher. And I'm not even resorting to cheapest options here.
I'd bet food is even cheaper in other countries, than it's at mine, what's the deal?

EDIT: If you say that these kids deserve more expensive food, look at this another way - you can feed a lot more kids for the same price.

EDIT2: It would be even cheaper to feed people in large groups, by food produced nearby, and at the same time feeding local manufacturer.
1028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain size/storage and slow downloads for new users on: December 01, 2013, 04:55:24 AM
If devs would come up with solution which would at least halve blockchain, I bet people would donate larger sums as a "Thank you" message.

Fantasy.  Nobody donates, much less large sums.  This is a cute delusion.

While working as a volunteer core dev for years, I received a whopping...  ~30 BTC in donations.  https://blockchain.info/address/1BrufViLKnSWtuWGkryPsKsxonV2NQ7Tcj  The vast majority of that prior to 2013, leaving the monetary total well under $500 for years worth of work.

Donating will not bring down blockchain size.  Technically infeasible, even if donations work.  Which they don't.

Quite surprising to hear that. You see little amounts donated for less useful stuff daily.
Anyway, this thing could be set up as a "kickstarter" of sorts.

You define your roadmap:
1)Do A
2)Do B
3)Do C

and add a donation pool to every key. If people decide to see feature C implemented beforehand - they donate towards it, and C takes priority. There should be a realistic multiplier applied to each objective of course.
1029  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: EXCHANGE OWNERS having an ADVANTAGE on: December 01, 2013, 04:46:58 AM
Any exchange operator that did trades on their own exchange would obviously be operating on extremely unethical grounds, if not illegal.
I'm sure in "real world" stock exchanges this is regulated, but when it comes to crypto - their hands are untied.

Hoped to get more input on this one. Maybe I should've posted it in off-topic.
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: litecoin dead ? on: December 01, 2013, 01:11:35 AM
i've made a million predictions and i'm ALWAYS right and could write a god damn book listing them all too
There's no doubt you can make a lot from altcoin fluctuations. Actually, I think that most don't really have other purposes. Their usage as currencies is however dubious.

as 99% of people on chat tried to argue with me its dead and gone..
where are they now ? buying LTC's for 40 bucks each that's where LOLOLOL
You can pretty much assume everyone on those chats is lying.

Or lying lying (reverse psychology).

Anyway, one must be dumb to be affected by trollbox shouts. if someone intends to make a hot trade he will do it quietly.
1031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain size/storage and slow downloads for new users on: December 01, 2013, 01:06:19 AM
You can use a lightweight client instead, then.

The lightweight clients are not secure as the official client, unfortunately.

Good luck downloading blockhain on a new machine. We've long past comfortable dvd backup size, and almost past 16gb flash drive mark.

If devs would come up with solution which would at least halve blockchain, I bet people would donate larger sums as a "Thank you" message.
1032  Economy / Service Discussion / EXCHANGE OWNERS having an ADVANTAGE on: December 01, 2013, 12:58:27 AM
A question that has bugged my mind for a time: How do exchange owners operate aside from fee profit?

While you await for your deposits to go through they can affect every possible bit of data. They have no lag or fees for trading themselves, etc.
1033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the deal with altcoins? on: December 01, 2013, 12:34:01 AM
There are some awesome arbitrage deals at cryptsy, despite how sluggish and lame-ass that website is.

Never cared about mining altcoins other than LTC and maybe a little FTC, but look at that digicoin go! At least twice as profitable as litecoin this whole day.

digicoin global hash went from 150 this morning to 500

some other coins jumped in value too, this week is crazy, I hope everything crashes and I can relax. Contemplating to buy another rig next monday, as 1st one finally paid off. Although scrypt global hashrate is growing 5% per day. Everyone jumped the boat again.
1034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Quark is instamined and now coin #4 on: December 01, 2013, 12:27:19 AM
I believe Max Keiser from RT is driving this hype. Check his twitter.

1036  Economy / Economics / Re: How to fix bitcoin on: November 28, 2013, 12:17:16 PM
My biggest problem with bitcoin volatility is how it stacks with long transaction times.

You wait 20+ minutes for 3 confirmations, and by that time pricechange is 5-15% at least
1037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the deal with altcoins? on: November 28, 2013, 12:08:25 PM
Be especially careful with scrypt-based altcoins.

Whoever creates the first ASIC für scrypt, has the option is control the blockchain.

That thing would be so expensive to make... gpu will always be in the lead

there's no possible decrease in watts/gH that will justify the crazy price.

If people want to buy, let them.  Cheesy

In fact, Litcoin are currently generated 8 times faster than Bitcoin.

Fire up those graphics cards!  Grin

I had single HD7950 on sale, for a good price for a while, but last month or two I've decided to keep it. There were people calling me , asking for a crazy low price, trying to debate something like "nvidia card of the same level costs less , etc". I told them to buy that nvidia and leave me alone.

Yesterday same people started calling me, wanting to buy my gpu (not selling anymore, lol) Cheesy Talked with one of them about mining, hour ago, recognized him as a previous caller, so much lulz.

Sold 15LTC in the summer, starting to regret a little now Smiley

Did you sell you house and threw everything into bitcoin ?

I so fucking wish I did Sad

I so fucking wish I had a house, or anything to throw in something Smiley

I so fucking wish I'd threw $$ in Google stocks, as I was 100% sure they would skyrocket, but i had no $$ at that time.
1040  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greed kills or simple rules for your success on: November 27, 2013, 03:09:19 PM

- Don't panic. Never sell with losses, even when you see it's dropping 50% of its value in a minute. As history teaches, it's just another bear trap.

This advice would save me some BTC in 85% cases, but those 15% largely make up for that in my case. Not big losses though.
