Use Coinbase and link it to a small obscure bank or local credit union.

Do not use coinbase.com.

care to elaborate?
1162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can anyone post an exhaustive list of bad things Bitcoin is doing to this world? on: November 08, 2013, 03:49:25 PM
The use of electrical power to secure the network, and an increase in doing so fueled by the greed of miners (I'm one of them).  The calculations completed have no intrinsic value - they're just a means to the end of securing the network.  As time goes on, if bitcoin continues to succeed, power consumption will continue increasing.

Most valid point among others in this thread. Although people tend to waste more electricity on other useless thing, mining sha256 or scrypt makes up for 0.0000000000000001% of wasted power in the world
1163  Economy / Services / Re: I will help with anything! on: November 08, 2013, 03:45:22 PM
EDIT: i would also suggest leaping out of window, but that can actually be PAINLESS so screw that

Why are you so sure, have you ever tried it, lol?

I'm not sure, but in some cases you can die faster than pain sets in or disable your nerve system before you die.

The easiest way to see if you are dreaming or not is to try to flip on the lights of a room.
In dreams, there is never any variance in light, so if you tried to turn the lights on or off, nothing would happen.
If you try this during one of your dreams, don't be surprised if you end up waking up out of the excitement of discovering that you are dreaming.
If you are able to concentrate enough in a dream to try to turn a light on or off to see if you are dreaming, you are a very good candidate for lucid dreaming, which is something VERY fun!
If anyone is interested in knowing more about this, PM me.

Somehow in my dreams I either never have such questions and take everything for real or I know for sure that I'm dreaming (which provides many funny options, lol)

funny options, true dat! In my case it usually loops, like dream in a dream (inception, lol). But still it's mostly uncontrollable, you may think you are in charge while you're actually not.

in the meantime : OP sorry for stealing your topic Smiley

did you disable your sound card in the BIOS? A compromised OS could send your keys via morse code through you speakers! Shocked

Wow, such rad idea! Too bad noone uses unprotected wi-fi these days Sad So it's basically useless.
1165  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: November 08, 2013, 01:06:27 PM
I just had an idea Smiley Imagine a scenario when all bitcoin is intentionally destroyed via sending to trash wallet, but just a handful of coins remain, say 100 of them.

1000$ for 1 memorabilia btc Smiley Maybe in a golden hard coin form.

1168  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Inputs.io Is Gone I'm Calling It A Scam on: November 08, 2013, 12:33:25 PM
Now after these points, do you really think he deserves any sympathy?
Of course its better to not run when you see that everybody got your real name already, that would be more then remotely stupid, Of course you would try to smoothing the offset, especially if you run a non-licensed financial institution that processed several millions of dollars worth.

He was and is a big part of btc community, and he indeed does deserve some sympathy.
1169  Economy / Services / Re: I will help with anything! on: November 08, 2013, 12:25:01 PM
Can you tell me if I am sleeping ? How to wake up ?
You cannot feel pain in your sleep, so if you want to check, stab yourself with a sharp object (knife, pen, etc).
EDIT: i would also suggest leaping out of window, but that can actually be PAINLESS so screw that

It's not true, in a dream you can feel pain. Everything that happen around you feels normal. Nothing can tell you that you are dreaming unless you start to believe you are dreaming.

I would argue but I cannot find any good sources at this moment Sad .

Even if I get mutilated in my dream I do not feel physiological pain. Be it a bitten off arm, or a shiv in my back. It's shocking, but not painful. Real pain, like cramps while you are sleeping   - you will definitely feel those and and wake up to them.

You don't get to wake up from smelling things in your dreams though, like from smoke in a fire. But you may imagine smelling something during a dream sequence.
1170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best faucet sites? on: November 08, 2013, 12:16:03 PM
Sure there are many faucet will lower their rewards now since the price increases

that's usually not the case. They mostly give out 0.00001BTC or 0.000001BTC

No-one bothers to readjust that tiny amount, whatever price may be.
1171  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Inputs.io Is Gone I'm Calling It A Scam on: November 08, 2013, 11:52:53 AM
Also this can also be a huge gamble/gambit on TF part - "lose" 4k BTC at $300 and refund them a "find" bit later when they are $200

Although again, I stress out that personally I do not believe TF is a scammer.
1172  Economy / Lending / Re: CoinLenders Script :: Bitcoin Bank (Borrow+Deposit) Software :: Demo Available on: November 08, 2013, 11:51:07 AM
100% CL balances will be refunded or just partial?
partial prob.
Hopefully this depends on the amount of coins the were stored in our CL. If it was a substantial amount then most likely we'll get %100 reimbursed.
If it was a larger amount then I'd say he's bound to repay us small amount up front and hopefully gradually repay the rest.

Well, looking at this article: http://www.coindesk.com/hackers-steal-bitcoins-inputs-io-wallet-service/ he is doing the opposite for inputs.io users.
A "sliding scare" where if you lost 1XBT you get 74%, 2XBT give you 65%, etc.

Personally I will hold TF accountable for anything but a 100% refund.
Time is not an important aspect for me, if it takes weeks or months to get full refund is ok, as long as I get it.

but those who want to sell, scared of a current bubble might disagree with you. For some 1BTC is 1BTC despite timeline we're in, but for others 1BTC is 10BTCtomorrow and 0.1BTC yesterday

also this can also be a huge gamble - "lose" 4k BTC at $300 and refund them a "find" bit later when they are $200

Although personally I do not believe TF is a scammer.
1173  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: I entered the police station as a suspect. When I left the officer loved Bitcoin on: November 08, 2013, 11:42:24 AM
"Bitcoin. Because the government says it's neat."

Stance of an individual worker should never be associated with the company he works in.
1174  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Inputs.io Is Gone I'm Calling It A Scam on: November 08, 2013, 11:37:45 AM
Which means I have to follow the chain on who manages and runs it= TradeFortress. Personally never had any issues with him as he once loaned me 5 btc "of course I paid back with interest and in time." now that Inputs is down do you think Inputs was a scam?

My opinion that it was not intended as a long scam. Idea was great, execution was ok, everything was working, he paid quite a lod for ad space and other promotions. It would be interesting to look into TF's bookkeeping - how many BTC he got total, how many did he earn/lose in inputs before this event, how much will he probably lose by reputation damage.

Personally I do not believe it's a scam.

Also it's interesting what the thief will do with his btc - drop it fast or keep it?
1175  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 1.2BTC/month just by posting! on: November 08, 2013, 11:32:55 AM
Enrolling with 585 posts  @ 08/11/2013 (reminder to myself)

Seeing as TF sig campaign died - this looks like the best option, was tempted long ago, but too lazy to write walls of text every day Smiley Gotta readjust now

I wonder If I can make the minimum requirement in time for 17th

I can give you that strategy for free: Have a shitload of money and buy ever increasing number of tickets

You'll win eventually

#2~         if that's your "short but unique" then everything is clear
<picture>

And then dictionary attack became a thing...
4 random english words aren't very strong as password.

Noone expects you to have a string of multiple words this long

Everyone's using Xxxxxxx* these days

Also good luck guessing my wallet's pass with dictionary

hint: it's 6 meaningful words  ~28 chars total, plus one word is used in possessive case
