Now look that statistics in reality: From 467 average registration, 465 is potential spammer/unusable for forum. From 8572 post, 8300 is spam. And from 345 topic, 320 is spam too. Just look titles of threads, you'll believe my words.
This can be true, maybe than the number of sources is not the problem even if some areas of forum are very low "merited". What do you think than to set the min sMerit sendable up to 2 from 1? (for abuser noting will change, it will help the avarege poster. I dont agree with this one, the minimum sendable merit should be 1 and not else. If someone find a post worth more than 1 merit, then they can send more. 1 is more neutral than 2, because there are many posts that deserve 1 merit but not 2 merits in my opinion. |

I still dont get a lot about your idea. If, i use if, if i have a valuable information about technology of bitcoin or anything valuable about bitcoin price analytics, why would i share to other people while i must pay? Doesnt it works the other way, people pay you when you have something valuable? I say this because i see people share their analytics about bitcoin price and what will happen if they are charged to post in here?
I dont support spammer, but we need to see this idea in a whole perspective.

You reply on some topic because you think you can help or you'r interested in that topic and have something to say. Which means you will probably read everything in it, and if not than almost everything. So why would you need button to see replays on your posts. Maybe at first it seams like a good idea, but actually it would only help spammers read even less. At least that is what I think.
EDIT: But I guess its not entirely bad idea, it would be useful to have option like that, for topics which are removed from Watchlist.
I'd actually like to have a reply notification unleast as a pm that would disappear when opened. Since I'm reopening my latest posts every other day, I'd love to have some feature like this. So you mean something like Facebook or other social media's notification? I would love them too to be one of this forum feature. Something like " your post has been quoted by *****" we click that and we arrive at the post that quote our post. It will improve our forum experience by a lot. |

Well this is a hard and tiring work. I have made some statistic back there when merit is out and it took me some times to finish it and it is just only a small statistic (you can see my created topic), but you, made a great job. I admire your good work, i hope with more statistic like this, there will be improvement from the forum and most importantly from people who can only whines. Cheers for your merit !

I hope the new bitcointalk will come out soon and hope this issue will be fixed there. It is very frustating if you got your account hacked, especially in this merit system and the process to get back the account is not that easy and fast.

This is a bit like the old investment trust scam. A guy started an investment trust on the premise that by investing in investment trusts, investments would be more secure. All it did was to introduce another level of charges, as most investment trusts invest in the same stocks, so you aren't spreading the investment risks. So how does that relate to merits? There are only a few posts that are merit worthy, by increasing the numberof merit sources, all you will do is to increase the number of merits chasing the same posts. The real solution is to improve the quality of posting,and this is why I have tried to start some English language improvement projects. Even though i dont have a great english skills, i do the same for you, i made a thread in my local board and asking them to join my telegram group to learn and talk in english, so they can improve their english and it will benefited them in real life and in forum, but there are not many people who are willing to improve i guess, i only have 37 members up rill now. For people who are not familiar with english, i suggest to try some language learning apps which available in android or IOS, i suggest duolingo for my local board people. It is easy and fun, and can improve the basic of our english significantly. By learning english, at least the chance to get merit is increases. |

Man, you can not change people mind just by talking. Bring evidence here and ask someone who has high reputation from your local board to verify you. I can't even see much of your other posts, because you must post in boards I have on ignore. My guess is that you haven't earned merit because your posts suck. Also, you now have negative trust for trying to buy a bitcointalk account, so good luck with that. It still amazes me how people don't see exactly why they're not getting merited. Doesn't "lisalise" realize that you can't just post shit like the above and expect people to give up something (merit) which basically has a worth of about $10 on the black market? It ain't going to happen, buddy. Really?? 10$ per merit in a black market?? Wow that is huge amount of money man. I hope you can help the forum to catch people who buy and sell merits. There must be a good security for a great system like this to make it even better. For lisalise, grow up man. You cant even get 0.00000000001 merits if people can give that amount for that kind of posts. If you really the want privilege to earn money by joining signature campaign, i suggest you must treat this forum as a forum first. |

As we can see (3 days delay) the merit is lower every weeks on this month, and if this is the trend, next month will be worse.
I think to contrast this we need to increase the merit sources or to increase the merit for the current sources.
I agree on the quality of the forum, but I think we need a little adjusment on overall merit to counteract this process or in few months we can have only 2k merit/week (my personal idea)
I guess that must mean that the merit sources overdid it when the system was first introduced and gave too much out at the start and then cut back later in the month. Now this gets replicated each month as they get replenished. I would think that effect should even out given enough time. As I just suggested I think some of the sources have a hard time finding enough posts to merit so adding more sources would be my preferred solution. A lot of them are busy with other things and can't be on the forum full time so it would be better to share the workload out. Sorry to interrupt and didnt shortened the quote. If we add all the merit in March, we will get 29.007 sMerits has been given in that month, and if we divide it into 28 sMerits per member (because members need 1 merit/day if they want to continue ranking up in a normal rate, almost same with activity), we get 1.035 members that can rank up properly in this merit age. I know this number is very small if we compare it to the number of accounts here in the forum, but there are a lot of factors such as : 1. There are not enough merit sources right now (TheQuin stated it) 2. Merit sources are not distibuted evenly for each board. 3. Last, there are not many quality post or thread out there so merit sources didnt give their merit. The last one is playing big role too in the merit distribution, so the blame is not only on the merit sources' side, it is also depends on the member of this forum. |

I think if a post is deleted for whatever reason then people should lose that merit as well. I think some people are purposely deleting their merited posts after they've received merit for it for whatever reason. Anyone can just merit some random trash post then delete it to get rid of the evidence. People could also just copy content then deleted the post once it's been merited. It's ripe for abuse if the merit stays after the post has gone.
100% agree with you, hillariousetc. It can be used as what you have mentioned in your post, and as far as i know only moderator can look into deleted posts (cmiiw) so it will be hard for people to help monitoring other members activity. It is fair - good posts were considered meritorious by people who didn’t have enough smerits. Therefore these posts were not merited. But then imagine the following scenario: Many people are rightfully given merit by someone whose post is later deleted. Then those people suddenly rank down. And in fact, what if someone had a highly merited post that was deleted? If that individual had given merit to many people, that's a lot of lost merit from the chain. You have to consider all these edge cases. :/ Is it possible to have an automated archive of deleted posts that have merits on it? |

This is hard to look at this situation with merit abuse for regular members doing their best to rank up. We try to write good quality content and be helpful. Still, we struggle to get few merits even with higher ranks. This is not a problem only for new accounts to rank up now, higher ranks have the same merits needed and even more 100, 250 or 500 of them for next rank. Look at my rank, posts and how much merits I got in last 3 months. I invite you to evaluate my posts and share your opinion about I will take criticism with understanding. I see some of your recent post and i know that you are good at english speaking and you deliver it good, but it is only a reply for others. In my opinion, it is good if you can make a thread about some trending topic or make some analysis and deliver it in a statistic that can attract a lot of discussion, i see so many of member doing that right now. Remember to make it good and not a same topic as others, or it would be categorized as spammy thread. |

This dsgust me a lot. I know that every system can be gamed or cheated by people, but buying merit for ranking up account is sick. Not only it is an abuse, but it shows your quality of a low and shit person and it risks your account to be red tagged or banned in the future thus making your money go to a waste. It is really good if this forum has a solid security system about merit abusing.

It would be a disaster for all the bounty hunter who spams this forum a lot if that can happens, even for a short time, because there are many people who really want this forum to be clean form that thing. |

Why not just add that depth 2 sources ( if your system happened) as merit sources? why do we need to differ them? in my opinion it is better if there are more merit sources rather than making this system more complex.
