981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: shopping with BTC on: December 04, 2017, 11:39:08 AM
If we buy stuff with BTCand the company just sells it for cash right away, it's probably not good for the BTCprice.

What do you think?  Will shopping with BTC be good or bad for BTC?

Well, i think it wont affect bitcoin in anything, amount or price wise.
Because it is just like a normal buy and sell things, and that is what happen in an exchange everyday. It is just a cycle.
But for the transaction matter, there will be a lot of transaction if this happen, and the question is, can all this transaction be done in a fast and short time? This would hurt bitcoin names if the transaction is slow, as people want for faster and safe transaction with digital currency. So because of that, i would love to see bitcoin has a fast transaction (maybe instant would be better) with an acceptable fees.
982  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I lost 22.22 BTC in 2013 - Lessons, mistakes and balls on: December 04, 2017, 11:24:32 AM
I have a confession to make. As much as I'd like to hide this from everybody around me, I want to let it out. Maybe I'll feel a little better.

I lost 22.22 BTC in 2013.

"How?" You may ask. It was mainly due to greed. You see, in 2013, I was a 20-year old. I was fascinated that Bitcoin rose so much so fast and asked my parents to invest some money into them. Told them that it had great promise of growth in the long-term. They agreed, gave me about $5400, and I bought 22.22 BTC.

All was good. The price rose and it fell. It was fun watching price and immediately calculating what the Bitcoins were now worth. It was addictive. I would check the price ever hour or so back then.

A few months later, the value of Bitcoin doubled. Now they were worth about $11k. "Wow," I though. My parents are going to be so happy (we're from a middle class family in India and $11k is a LOT of money).

One day, someone found my phone number on the Localbitcoins website and sent me a text. He said he had a strategy to earn recurring profits through Bitcoin. That a lot of people use it for gambling, and we can use the spread between Bitcoin prices in India and China to make a profit!

"This is getting better." Or so I thought. 2 weeks later, I meet the guy at a restaurant. Talk a little bit about what he plans to do with the money and I decide to send him 10BTC to see what he can do with it. He gave me a post-dated cheque for the equivalent of 10BTC in fiat as a "safety" so I can be sure he wasn't a scammer. Transferred the money, went back home, super happy to make money by investing my Bitcoins!

Later that evening, I get a call from this guy saying he needs more upfront capital to get the ball rolling. I suspected something might be wrong - but I didn't want to loose 10BTC because I couldn't afford some more. BIG FUCKING MISTAKE. I paid him 12.22BTC more and he promised to deliver.

Days went by and I didn't hear from him. I called him up hundreds of times, no answer. I rushed to the bank to cash out the cheque, but it was cancelled. I asked the bank employees for remediation, they asked me to go to the cops. I went to the cops - they said "Bitcoin is illegal, you shouldn't have bought it anyway. But since the cheque bounced, we can try to help you." They didn't do jack shit.

So this is the story of how a naive 20-year-old lost 22.22 BTC - valued at $256718 today. The story clearly talks about my mistakes. It seems obvious now, but back then, I was blinded by the idea of easy profits.

Lessons:
  • Don't trust ANYBODY.
  • The moment you feel something is not right, cut your losses. Don't get in deeper.
  • Don't be greedy. There are no get-rich-quick schemes. Don't fall for them.
  • Don't be naive.
  • Never touch money/investments that aren't your own. It feels 100000x worse.
  • ALWAYS ESCROW.

I'm having to fight through this pain everyday. I feel pathetic. I've lost a lot of courage and morale. I feel extremely lonely. I can't being to understand how people that have lost bigger amounts of money cope with this. If someone here knows, do let me know.

Checking the price of Bitcoin has become super painful. I can literally feel my heart burn every time I see the price go up more. I'm 23 years old now. I don't know if I'll ever be able to earn back the 22.22 BTC. I'm afraid. I feel like I'm falling through an abyss - just falling deeper and deeper.

I can, however, claim that I've got balls. That should be evident from the fact that I didn't suicide yet. Time to time and more often than not, there's a voice inside me that says "You can't do it. You're in over your head." I try to suppress that. I'm trying to make all those Bitcoins back.

Recently (a few days ago), I asked Roger Ver to help. He politely declined. It was really nice of him to reply to my email. I totally understand - he can't verify any of this. And 22.22BTC is not a small sum of money today.

If there's anyone out there that can help, please message me. If not, I would love some support in these dark times (for me). I need some extra courage. I have some inside, I need some more.

Hope you learned something that prevents you from losing money.

#BitcoinToTheMoon

If this is a true story, this is a sad story, and i am sorry for your loss.
It is a lesson for you, and for us too, to be careful with our assets.
Dont trust anybody. Thats the right word. Even they are a relatives or so, we can be so sure too them, so it is better to do your investment alone.
I cant help you about this loss, but one thing is for sure, make this as a lesson, you can gain more than what you lose before, you just need to struggle hard and do your best. Dont stop, because you will lose if you stop, and losing is a shit thing.
983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook & Google creating its own Cryptocurrency! on: December 04, 2017, 11:11:31 AM
Your thoughts on Facebook and Google creating its own Cryptocurrency. I know BTC is the pioneer in cryptocurrencies and currently has the highest value but if this two giant companies will release their own cryptocurrencies I don't think anyone would want miss that. Its not impossible right? Similarly Other companies like twitter & Youtube and even UBER can also dig into cryptocurrencies. If major companies can consider BTC as their main cryptocurrency, BTC value will definitely skyrocket.

If they make a new coin that is their own, i guess it will be popular but the thing is, it will be centralized, and they can do anything to your coin, including the price, as they will be in the charge of that coin.
It can be used as toy for them to do such evil things like money laundering, tax evading, etc (although people already done it with bitcoin, but it will be easier if you are the owner of the coin).
It will be just the same with the bank system if you join a centralized coin.
984  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin = $1 Million by 2020 on: December 04, 2017, 10:59:03 AM
John McAfee Bullish on Bitcoin Price Reaching $1 Million by 2020.
He wrote in Twitter: "When I predicted Bitcoin at $500,000 by the end of 2020, it used a model that predicted $5,000 at the end of 2017. BTC has accelerated much faster than my model assumptions. I now predict Bircoin at $1 million by the end of 2020. I will still eat my dick if wrong."

Can yo believe this? What are your own predictions?

I would love to see him eat his dick, lol, but what more i love is that his prediciton is going to be true. That is what we love more right guys?
Although i really doubt bitcoin will reach 1 million usd in 3 years, but i really want it to be happen. With this prediction like this and many people support it, i guess it would give more benefit and positive things to bitcoin such as price increasing.
But still, in my opinion, it would reach 1 million usd in 10 years from now, which is 2027. That is logically more acceptable by my logic, tho.
985  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can I earn bitcoin using facebook, youtube, or in any social media? on: December 04, 2017, 10:14:50 AM
Hi, I'm a newbie here in bitcoin and I'm not that really familiar with the methods and strategies in earning here.
Since this is an open forum and I don't want to commit any mistakes using it, i will just ask and get suggestions if bitcoin can be correlated in any social medias that i mentioned?
Thank you.

Absolutely my friend, you can earn bitcoin if you have a good account of any social media, mostly facebook, twitter, youtube, or instagram. You can get decent amount of bitcoin if you have a decent account.
The thing to do is to join a Bounty Campaign. It is a campaign that is held by a project owner (there are many great projects on this forum) who wants to advertise his/her project in a social media, and you join them as the advertiser. You are required to do some posting about their project in order to advertise it, that is  the basi things to do, but some project has their own rule for you to follow to get bitcoin.
Other than social media, you can try to be active in this forum, rank up yourself, and then later you can join a signature campaign too.
Good luck for you, and for all of us.
986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to your Bitcoin when you Die? on: December 04, 2017, 09:01:39 AM
Did you guys teach your family members on how to access and use your Bitcoin in case you will die?
Do you want to take your Bitcoin with you when you're gone?

Let me hear it from your own opinions...

What happen to my bitcoin? It will stay on the wallet of course, it wont go anywhere if i die.
But, i will let my family use it, if that happen to me, like my wife or my children. For me, i will make a letter about an instruction to open my wallet to person i pick. Which i trust the most.
But the letter must be given and opened when i die, not when im around.
987  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 11k plus is the price of Bitcoin Now. my fear is..... on: December 04, 2017, 03:11:55 AM
Bitcoin might drastically go down deep following the sudden surge in price. If am wrong you can correct my impression thank you.

Well, it might goes down deep following this sudden surge of price, but there is still one other option, which is, it might goes up to a new level of price too.
That 2 things is a probability, and i hope the best probability comes up. But even though the price goes down, i have seen that bitcoin price always rise after it, even to another whole new level. So, you dont need to be afraid of it. Just hold till it reach your moon.
988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teen investing $1,000 .... What should I do ? on: December 03, 2017, 04:23:03 PM
Hello, I have 2 questions:

I have about $1k I want to invest in crypto... being a teen I want to invest this for the long term 5/10 years, what cryptos should I invest in ?

I have looked into Exodus and with the recovery phase, is it a safe way to store crypto ? I know about paper wallets, but they are not a convenient way to access funds and also can be effected by the environment, water, stolen etc... This is why I would like to use exodus, it seems like a good method.

I don't want to use a hardware wallet, If exodus is considered 'safe' I do not feel a hardware wallet is necessary for $1k amount, also its not as convenient.

Thanks !  Smiley

1. Invest on bitcoin
2. Exodus is good, but it is still a good thing to make a paper wallet.
3. You are still a teenager and maybe you dont know how hard to achieve that amount. 1k usd is a big amount, dont make light of it. If you can afford to make 1k usd investment, it is best to have a hardware wallet. You said that you want to hold it for 5-10 years, if the bitcoin price going up, your 1k usd might be turn into 10k or 100k (maybe), think again.
989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you sell your Bitcoin at $100,000 or what? on: December 03, 2017, 03:18:34 PM
I don't have much of bitcoin to sell it below $100,000 - and will probably do this one year after.
Still have some doubts.. Maybe $200,000 will be a better point?
Please give an advice, your opinion is important!!

PS. It's not a joke. Please be realistic while estimating..
Gonna bring up this topic close to X-Mas 2018.

This is an advice from me, feel free to accept it or not, or maybe you can modify it to your preference.
If you have bitcoin in some amount, as the price trend is growing right now, it is a good thing to hold it until you have your own target.
How to determine your target? It is simple, determine this factor, as it is different per person and country :
1. Basic daily needs and the price of it.
2. Your life style and hobbies.
3. Your fees from work, and if you want to make a business from the money you get from bitcoin, because some bitcoiners make a business out of their profit from bitcoin.
Based on that 3 terms, for me, ill be happy to sell if i ever get 300k-400k usd. Very happy.
990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin More Important Than Ethereum ? on: December 03, 2017, 02:53:54 PM
Is Bitcoin More Important Than Ethereum?

As far as i know, as a newbie too in this world, yes of  course bitcoin is more important than ethereum. Bitcoin is the first crypto currency in this world, and ethereum is a coin that is stated as "alt-coins" category. But i really dont want ethereum to be "less-important", because sometimes it can help people transferring money to other source or platform because the transaction is in a comfortable level.
991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin saving. on: December 03, 2017, 08:33:53 AM
How about only earning Bitcoin and not using them?
I think the price of Bitcoin will gain much more value.
So if we keep it as our asset we will be much rich in the future...hehe...whats your opinion about this?

In my opinion, this is the best option to do for now, at least for people who does not have much money to buy bitcoin.
Me myself do this things too, i earn bitcoin by doing some jobs in this forum and just save it. This is comfortable for me because i have a job too, so i do this as a side job, to fill my time, and only use my monthly fee from my job to cover my daily needs.
Well this option is kinda hard to do fo people that doing bitcoin as his/her main job or main income. So it is still based on the condition of each person.
992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with the people who don't like Bitcoin? on: December 03, 2017, 03:31:38 AM
What would you do when you're talking to someone but then he suddenly talks about his hatred on Bitcoin, what would you react to it?

I've never actually experienced anything like this before, I just want to be prepared when it happened to me.

Same, i never actually experienced anything like this before, and i would be shocked if someone say something bad to me because of bitcoin.
But for me, it would be best if we just to keep the feelings inside (like shocked, mad, sad, etc) and just let them finish what they are meant to do, because if you show what you feel, they will keep doing that to you. Just let them be and you keep going on with our bitcoin things. They are just a bully and a closed minded people.
993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most attractive concept about Bitcoin? on: December 02, 2017, 07:33:09 PM
what makes bitcoin appealing, in other words: what is the "breaking the ice" part about bitcoin that you can tell a newbie in a sentence or two, too pull them into this crypto journey BTC @millzp0

In my opinion, the most appealing thing about bitcoin is the price of the bitcoin itself. Because, it can gives you a massive profit from it when it goes up, and it can makes you worry about it too if the price down. In short term, it is like a roller coaster. But with this coaster, there are already many people that proves bitcoin is a good thing to make a profit.
For me, i would say, "profit coin, bitcoin" phrases if i want to say what bitcoin is to people in a sentence.
994  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is falling, But don't worry! on: December 02, 2017, 12:53:32 PM
In my opinion, bitcoin is a kind of an investment. And it behave like an investment, fluctuate. And i think it is normal, although the down phase might scare some people, but bitcoin always rise after that, and now the price is almost 11k usd (at the time i write this).
So, as the title said, for all the beginner and all of us too, i must say that, Bitcoin has a falling time, but dont worry, and dont make a panic sell of your bitcoin !
995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people sell bitcoins? on: December 02, 2017, 12:49:00 PM
Worldwide, especially in my place, must sell it for profit rather than always keep it!
The government always forbids the use and play bitcoin so that it can not grow fully potential in my place. Surely it remains an advantage if there is a transaction rotation for bitcoin in my country to live.

hmm, i think there are lot of reasons for people to sells their bitcoin, such as :
1. Emergency situation. Bitcoin is a kind of an investment, and it uses fiat money to earn it. So they might want to get some fiat money if they have this kind of situation, doesnt matter how much they will get, cause it is an emergency.
2. Profit. Like i said, it is an investment for people, so they maybe just want to get some ROI from bitcoin.
3. Panic sell. Well, what can i say, some people just do it.
I guess that is the main reason why people sells their bitcoin. Maybe others have other reasons that i cant think of.
996  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonalds to accept Bitcoin by 2018 on: December 02, 2017, 08:13:08 AM

It is kinda hard to digest this news. Because of all things going around right now, such as :
1. The fees of transaction. It is quite high right now if compared to your meal price at mc donald.
2. The transaction time. To make it fast, you need to pay more fees then.
In my opinion, bitcoin transaction is better for a big transaction for now. But i do hope for someday that bitcoin can be used in everyday transaction like this.
997  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think digital currency will ever replace paper money? on: December 02, 2017, 06:22:20 AM
Personally I say yes as our society becomes increasingly dependent upon technology, digital currency will become a more popular means of paying for different things and it is more effective and instant. I haven't used much physical money in the past 8 years and I rarely had any problems with that.

What do you guys think? Wink

I do thinks that digital currency have a potential to replace it, but i can not predict it when. The best option for me is for digital currency and fiat money to get along together.
But in my opinion, digital currency has some major threat for us right now, which is security. I agree that the security level now is acceptable, but there is so much that can be upgraded such as how to track our money when it disappears, etc. If the security improved, i am really sure that people would really love to use digital currency rather than using paper money.
998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do people get their bitcoins? on: November 27, 2017, 08:36:23 PM
Hey everyone,

I was wondering how most people here receive their bitcoins? I personally handle in virtual items in video games. (CS:GO, DOTA 2, PUBG) I sell these items on a marketplace and receive BTC for them I also join a online casino now and then to try and make some easy BTC!

Do you guys just invest in bitcoins and not touch them? I personally use mine on a daily base for purchases / trading etc..

Let me know i'm interested!  Grin

Tom / Yaking

Well there are some ways to earn bitcoin, such as :
1, Investing.
2. Trading
3. Mining
4. Working
For me, i am just working to earn bitcoin. I work for people who pays me with bitcoin, because i love to read a bit and write a bit, i do some work on this forum such as joining bounties or signature campaign. It didnt give you a lot at first, but as your rank goes up and your knowledge increasing, making money of it would be fun and comfortable. Mining and trading is not an option for me because it takes a lot of resources ( money, time, feelings, etc). So, im going to stick with my work now, maybe later i will try to sells some service like translation service to my native language.
999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ABCD! Are You Ready to mine Diamond Now Onwards? on: November 27, 2017, 06:40:42 PM
In the year of hard fork, a new coin successfully forked at block 495866, with support from 28 global exchanges.
ABCD, no I am not teaching alphabets here I am talking about (A BitCoin Diamond)

Will it rise as BCH, and the main question is should we invest in it and expect "BIG"?

Will it rise? yes, in my opinion, as i see it as a coin that is made and controlled by a group of people that is trying to make their own coins (centralized, for them), it will give you the luxury of owning it at the first time, next time when you dont know when to jump out of the wave, the wave will kill you, just like all of people who trusted bitcoin cash too much.
Should we invest? i dont know about you guys, but for me, i just want to invest to bitcoin, and i just trust bitcoin, so for people who thinks to invest on this coin, just remember and look back to other coin that was forked from bitcoin.
1000  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It advisable to quit my present job for bitcoin? on: November 27, 2017, 05:23:30 PM
Bitcoin trading these days has become so rucreative that I am tempted to quit my present job which is not giving me enough time to explore more out of bitcoin world...

What's your take on this, should I go ahead and quit?

Thanks
No man, dont do it. You should stay work. it is a nice thing to have a reliable source of income for your life even though the amount is not as big if you make a successful trading. Trading indeed can give you a big profit, but it can make some big loss too.
We have 24 hours in a day, if you work from 9 to 5, you still have 16 hours in a day. From that 16, you can make 6-8 hours for your sleep time, and you can still have 10-8 hours to explore about bitcoin world. So i dont suggest you to quit your job.
