I hope your works can be done as soon as possible @mocacinno. I am sorry to say that and it sounds kinda annoying but if the works can be done as soon as possible, then people can really use it to mark that "lucky member" so they can not advance to upper rank. At least I would do that if no one doing it, with my ignore button.

In my opinion, and i apply it to myself, i should look into a member's post history before giving a merit to someone. It takes a lot of time but it will save this forum from adding more spammer. In fact, people should do it because Theymos already made an addition to this merit system for reducing spammer and recklessly giving merit will undone what Theymos did.

I do believe that people deserve a second chance to prove themselves are better now, but not in 1 day after this new system was added. After the introduction of new system and this or that spammer changed? Nope, it is just an attempt to get merit so they could spam their bounty more.

Same, i am quite confused in here. I do really agree that anyone deserves a chance to get a merit and second chance to be a different person and stop being (at least less) bounty hunter, but is too fast for someone to give this OP a merit. Just my opinion.

Probably the original owner already know that he is being reported for plagiarism and the account is on the risk of getting banned, and then he sold his account to you which is the best thing happened in the original owner's side, but unfortunately it is the worst thing happened to your side. You got scammed.

You will not get your account unbanned, even if you have all the valid data in your hand.

Well i just want to say this. Look, in a high quality post there is something called novelty. It does not mean that your post must has 100% novelty but at least it is not something that is always repeated by newbie or Jr. Member who come to this Meta Section. This kind of post is already made by a lot of newbies and Jr. Member, even since the original merit system introduced back in January, and people are already bored of this

This is giving us (at least me) a clear insight into this matters because of some question left in my head after the new additional of merit system, such as :
1. If merit is so hard to get, all newbie will be at meta, but it is only a fraction of them. It indicates that other newbie account is just an alt-accounts to newbie who comes up in here, or some just dont care.
2. Why does this newbie who come to here think 1 merit is a nearly impossible task? Simple. Because they have a lot of accounts, that is why it is hard. Making good content in a lot of accounts is hard and buying merits for all of their account is expensive.

Isn't helping members and making a good contribution is a simple task? It is only 1 merit, come on !

The best additional system to this forum since the introduction of merit itself. It creates a lot of effect, positive or not depends on the way people look at it. Even though i am using signature and it may sound hypocrite, but I think if you can not get 1 merit, you should listen to what Theymos said in the last line of his OP in his latest thread.

Why would you think 1 merit is not fair for you? Simple, it is because you only want to do bounty in here (and maybe with a lot of alt-accounts because what the hell it is only 1 merit, it is not that hard unless you got 10++ accounts), not anything else. You treat this forum as a farm, not a forum.

Thread guide tujuannya untuk orang yang belum kena virus untuk ngereport. Klo udah terkena ya ngapain baca report, paling juga udah khatam ilmunya. Tidak perlu lah rasanya membilang2kan aksi lebih baik daripada sekedar kata2, tujuannya sudah beda. Pengembangan itu jangan dari satu arah klo menurut saya, klo agan mau meningkatkan aksi silahkan, tapi ingat, suatu saat member yang ngespam lebih banyak dan di satu titik bahkan usaha 10000% dari beberapa orang gak akan mampu menutupi perkembangan spammer. Makanya saya translate guide biar orang membaca dan kena paparan virus untuk ngereport, supaya ada kemungkinan orang yang mau ngereport bertambah. Ibarat ngiklan, apakah orang bakal langsung menonton suatu film kalau gak lihat iklan atau trailernya dulu? (kecuali film yang udah punya nama/franchise besar kyk marvel dll). Nah sekarang pertanyaannya, apakah report itu namanya dah besar? No. Makanya saya buat thread.

Even if they can buy, the price will be higher now since Theymos introduced this system (if there is a merit trading going on), and it would take them a lot if they have 20++ accounts. You will be surprised of how mmany accounts a people can have and maintain.

The additional of merit sources is so great. I hope the distribution can be wider and faster after this additional of merit sources. 120 merit sources is a great number in my opinion.

It is a normal reaction i guess. What is not normal is people who are still believe in Ethereum, and still hold it until it reach another "All Time High" price again, that is not normal. That is why not everybody can be rich and success in this world.

While decentralized system brings some advantages, it also brings a disadvantages like security issues, anonimity (gives advantages and disadvantages, and many more. Just want to say, what you have been saying in the OP is basically right, but lets not forget that every system alwaya have its advantages and disadvantages.

Although i agree that cryptocurrency can be a big success, it is still a long way to go before all people adapt this technology.

You need to make sure from the beginning that the coins you will be supporting is the right coins. If you already made a decision then stick to it. I make my step very detail, even i make when will i sell the coins or in what price i will be selling those coins, not just work and then sell it when we get the coins.

If you want to be sure, then just do some Ethereum and Bitcoin.

Couldn't agree more with you hilarious. Theymos should give this kind of authority to a person who can help him in this merit matters. I believe the authority is not as high as giving someone the ability to restore account, because it is a different job, way different, so i think it is not a problem if Theymos give this "merit sources authority" to some trusted person/member.

The idea is great in general, but it has a lot of things to be prepared for the idea to be succeed, like :
1. Who will run the channel? If you run it yourself, you will need a lot of time Theymos.
2. Who will be the judge on "quality posts" to be showed up on the channel? It is a hard task because it is definitely a subjective task.
3. Reward system for  content creator (optional)
4. Are we prepared enough for the next generation of spammers which might be attracted by the channel?

Yes, 100 would be a good start. With that being said, i think that giving out more sMerits per good post would be a great help and it can (slightly) solve the problem which DdmrDdmr's stated in his new thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5029372.0).

I hope that thread can help a lot of people in the future, maybe including myself   (no joke)

Should you guys, who are merit sources, make a same standard on how to give merits to a post? Maybe some standard on how much points to be given to a post too ? This statistics given by DdmrDdmr is worrying and it can lead to an abstain of giving merits in the future.

Of course. Merit source number should be increased to match the number of forum's member because there are some of high quality members left unmerited because the coverage of  current merit source is not that wide. I suggest it should be added based on region/local board activity, because there are gems hidden in the local boards, and some of them are not good at english. There are no rule stated that a meritorious post should be in english right?

Do not worry and just carry on with your job on reporting people with that kind of action. Plagiarism, abuser, cheater, scammer should be banned and the forum need a lot of people to do a job like you and the others. For your info, trust system divided into 2 categories, trusted feedback and untrusted feedback. If untrusted people (people which are not in the default trust system/link) give you a negative feedback, it will not affect your account at all, same goes to positive feedback.
