Am I the only one that is more surprised about the amount of merit going to threads talking about merit? Seems a bit circular.
I'd rather see merit going to threads about coins. That's kind of the point of the forum.
Well, merit is for a worthy and meritorious post, it does not have to bound to a particular theme, whether it is about merit or about coins. The problem is,the OP of ANN or other services thread got a lot of merits from a post that does not contain anything valuable rather than describing their project or services which is not meritorious at all. Above posts already mentioned too that there are merits given for rather a low quality post which is not the best use of merit. The point of the forum is to be a best place to talk about bitcoin and cryptocurrency, not about advertising some services with false use of one of forum's system.

Shit posting in the ANN threads is not made by the OP right? Then it does not have anything to do with the ANN of the projects, unless the project stated that they will pay money if someone do the post on the ANN thread. With or without merit system, people will always spam in ANN thread, that is the problem.
I agree with you that ANN, or other project or services thread should not be the top merited thread int this forum, they may get merits but not up to this level i believe. It is kinda sad, but the solution to this problem is kinda problematic because we are talking about controlling and directing people how to use merit (at least more) properly than giving it to thread mentioned above.

By seeing his kind of post, i believe that he is nowhere near nullius. Nullius is an alien if it comes to posting, but this man is only just posting a thread about an exchanger and got a lot of merits from his affiliates. That is a big different you know.
And for guys who took it too far, do not bring DT's name, if someone make a mistake then dont blame their position, blame the person.

I believe this is the future of this forum. Managers will make minimum merits as a requirement for participants to join the signature or bounty campaign and it will surely decreases the number of the participants as not all participants have the quality to get a lot of merits. Good poster will get their time paid off while bad one will be fucked up.
Like TP said, merit abusing is already going on, but i think the number is already decreased because the airdrop merits is already diminished a lot since the time merit was introduced. I remember someone is tracking the number of merits spent form month to month and it shows that the number of merits spent is decreasing over the month. So yeah, i hope the decreasing number comes from those who got no merit to abuse.

Everyone would be pissed off if they lost their account, especially if the account is a higher ranked one, and i see there are so many of people lost theirs in meta section. Even though it is not priority in here to recover account because there are so many reasons not to prioritize it and there are other works too, i hope you got your account back.
Be patience in waiting.

I believe that we need something other than newbie jail to solve this spamming problem. Like Theymos said, it would create a more bad situation than now in the future, good people wont join in the engagement and bad people will try to find a shortcut, because the barriers are too high. Like joniboini said, signature campaigns are the problems, specifically the managers who dont manage the campaign well, like paying all the spammers etc.
I believe this is the sources of all the problem, and i think we need some standard for people who wants to be a manager. SMAS list and Darklist is a great tools made by some responsible managers in this forum and it kinda help the community to grow better, but some lazy managers just want money flowing to their pocket without doing a good and hardwork.
@joniboini long time no see bro !

Congratulations for your achievement on full rank member, i am pretty sure you are feeling great right now right? being a higher ranked member right now not only giving you the chance of joining a campaign, but more to some kind of a badge of pride for something positive you have done for this forum, either it is a good thread or good posts. Keep up the good work mate !
And yes, merit works. I have proved it to.

Please consider the issue. Please don't review beginning posts as they are not the reason of ban nor I continued to do so. Thanks!
I love the what did I do wrong, but don't look over here approach. I couldn't help myself and went to review these earlier posts that weren't the reason for the ban, and my favorite..."nor I continued to do so". Unfortunately your post history wouldn't load for me. I'm going to take a wild swing and say you are lucky the Ban is only 30 days, and it's probably not a big loss to the community in any way. Could not agree more. I believe he knows what makes his account got banned by the forum and my guess is that he does not know that a bounty program he posted contain an incentive posting content . Indeed he is lucky he got 30 days ban instead of permanent ban because it is considered as an spamming and shady act.

Missed a sitter just before Aguero made it 4-3. That would have been 4-4 if Messi had scored a relatively easy chance.
Messi and Ronaldo are gone. There is a very little chance for them to play in the next world cup. I am very sad for them. Meanwhile for your first post. I guess being active is not what merit sources should force on. Instead, the members who want merits should be active on this forum, engaging, making a good writing, analyzing, etc. It will make sources job easier if members going active and worthy, rather than otherwise, and it is not a hard thing to do to be an active member and a worthy one.

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:
(...)
I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.
I have started a thread in the Dutch local section, two months ago. I've still got sMerit to give... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3494821.0Some say there's a problem with people not willing to give sMerits. Seeing that after several weeks, I still haven't given out all of my sMerits in the Dutch section, I'd rather think there's a problem with people not willing to RECEIVE Merits... Kinda agree with you mate. people are asking too much when they do not deserve even a single merit from their posts, it is like they are just want everything to be easy for themself. Kinda hate this kind of guys and the worst is they do not even know that they are not worthy enough.

Another thread made in attempt to gain some sympathy and merit here in the meta section because people said you can get merits easily in here. Sorry my lad, you can not get a lot of merits in here because there are so many educated person in here who can tell the difference between a great post with a not so good post.

Enlightening thread....
How do I get Merit to rank up?
Please read the first post. Reading a post like these after 200++ pages makes me kind of mad because there are so many people who has hand that is faster than their brain, they can not even think before asking with a post.

I believe it is higher than 10% of members do the shit posting, although i dont have any proof to prove what i have said. This is kinda insane. The forum suffers so much damage because a lot of people just want an easy money rather than be someone so good and earn the privilige to get the money in the right way, and be proud of it.

Not at all surprise that the campaign has suddenly come to a halt.
I mean look at the first page, these morons can't even properly add!
Signature Campaign Rewards
Rank Participant spots Cash payment Token payment | Totals/participant Legendary 5 $75.00 $40.00 | $125.00 Hero 8 $60.00 $35.00 | $105.00 Senior 17 $40.00 $30.00 | $80.00
Why are you dummys still advertising this shitty company's signatures when you aren't getting paid?
We got paid for 2 weeks of our works in bitcoin, so, they paid us. We will paid for the token.

It is good to see people like Silent26 knows his/her place (in a good way) so that he/she really appreciates others and doing something in a proper way, like treating a forum the way it should be. It is even better to see people like OP is going out from this forum and revealing his true intention on this forum, well we wouldnt miss OP so much right?
This problem has lying around for so long in this forum and there are so many opinion about it, but i believe that if your mindset is to "contribute positively for the forum (or any work) and let the money comes" then it is okay, even better, this mindset could be applied (and most succesful people did this) in the real world, and i believe there is no other way around like "let the money comes first then i will be contribute positively". Nah, the money wont come.
