While I am just as much in favor of stopping the shitposting and sig/bounty campaign spamming, I think requiring a certain number of merits per unit time would unfairly punish people like me because I spend the vast majority of my time in the altcoins mining and announcements sections where there seems to be few or no merit sources circulating. An alternate strategy would be to require members and below earn a certain number of merits per unit time to enable their signature. I should note this idea has been independently conceived/suggested by many besides me, so I'm not going to claim originality. Just tossing it out as alternative. This would make more jobs to mod i believe. I am sure if Theymos wants, he can add more moderators, but he seems to be busy right now or got other matters to deal with. Plus, down vote or report system will make people spamming the system to reduce their competitor in the same rank for signature campaign even though this competitor is not a shitposter, because who knows, maybe the mods will agree with the report. |

This is a good work, i really appreciate it. It really helps people to get some merit because sometimes a good post in a wrong time can get you merit but a good post in a right time will get you merit which you deserve with the post. Thanks man.
O ya, one more thing, if you can, it would be good if you can deliver it in a chart or table, so people can read it easily and comfortably.

For me, it is unnecessary to PM someone over a merit given. Just keep doing the hard work, contribute more, and do not cheat, that is the way how to thanks properly for people who gave you merit (because they help you to rank up).

Dont be an idiot! DT members have their own rules, they have their own standards and set of rules.
Theres no such thing as merit abusers based on the owner of this forum but hes a pussy that is why some of these DT members are being allowed to put red trust to those who has intended to exchange merits.
These selfish retarded people dont want any members to rank up and if they want you to get kicked out from this forum they can easily tag your ass some redtrust,because of shitposting,merit abuse that shouldnt exist,or multiple account abusers,all type of abusers except themselves are all shitposters.
Last time i checked, shitposting is not the main reason for tagging people anymore, some DT members already stated that. For abusing, i can only comment about multiple account abusers. It would create a lot of spam, and it is not good for the forum so it must be taken down, especially if they break the campaign/signature rules which stated that multiple account in the same campaign will be kicked (might get you tagged because some of managers are DT member), and i think it is a fair thing because cheater with multiple account is not only breaking rules, but blocking people chance to get into bounty/signature (if we want to look from money side of this forum) Why selling merits is against the rule and selling accounts isn't? Both are giving the unfair opportunity to rank up if the person has a money.
I see a guy selling accounts from Member to Sr.Member on Russian board, advertising this business on his sig.
Yeah, DTs painted him red, but I guess he simply doesn't care, it won't hurt his trade anyhow. But if admins would ban people like him and all of his alts, then we'll see some changes here.

It seems to me that merit is not at present a useful instrument for regulating this forum. Merit became a subject for sale. No one gives merit, just like that. There are only a few cases when someone sent the merit of someone just like that.
I have repeatedly witnessed how people wrote good themes, great and having a good meaning, topics which conducted a good analysis of coins, but unfortunately no one has given for such topics merits. I have request one thing opinion, that such themes can be create only for order to you the credited for this subject previously purchased you merit.
I think this system can be improved. I have a number of suggestions on how to do this.
1. Give merit to people who create threads and topics are becoming popular. If the topic has 10 pages of comments - then to add 5 merits.
2. If a member has more than 100 activity on the forum is to enroll him 10 merits. More than 200 activity, give 100 merits.
I don't see any other options at the moment. Or buy merit. Personally, I am against such practices. It seems to me that the system of merit, unfortunately made this forum for many people commercial enterprise. We need new ideas to solve this problem, because I repeat that there are no other ways to increase their rank, in addition to buying merit at the moment.

The best part to all of this merit issues arising now, would have been not giving any member any merit at the first place. Maybe each member gets a given amount of merit for achieving a given status. Then once the laid out status is achieved, the system automatically gives merits to the user and this users can't be transferred as well between users as it's only the system that can do that.
Then people would cheat it somehow to get that status and boom, they will get merits. Your suggestion is not compatible to restrict some alt-account to rank up, and it would be just the same as activity point. |

Just make sure to put the source before you post it, use that preview button. I have seen (if i remembered it correctly) hillariousandco tagged (or banned) an account (forgot the name of the account) because he forgot to put the source and hillariousandco notice it. Even though after that this man edited the post and added the source, i agree it is still the fault of that man. Embedded a source is the same thing as citation in real world, it could ruin your life if you forgot to put it in your published paper because you forget to add it, even if you did not mean to plagiarize the sources.
But i think for the forum like this, i guess it will be better if you add something like counter argument to an article, or your thought on the article, or some addition to the article. Plus, dont copy the entire article please, just some key paragraph and link would be nice.

Got the merits.. now need the activity! I wasn't fussed about leveling up, now that I have cracked the 1K merits I think it will piss me off every 2 weeks. The way my luck is running I wont get it till over 1K activity!

snip I agree with you that ranking up is more difficult than ever but your own statistic shows it clearly that lower ranked persons struggle even more with ranking up because of lack of merits. Why? Are their posts that much worse than hero/legendary members? I don't think so. It's just nuances. It's more because they reach activity limit much faster. Within 60days/5x2week cycle from M to FM compared to 240days from SrM to HM. In addition, some higher ranked members know each other and trust them more and are therefore more tempted to give merits to those. No, that's not an accusation of Merit exchange, just a subjective opinion. You listed a few members of this Forum that actually do good job in their postings and they clearly deserve merits for their hard work but that are how many? How many actually got 90 Merits after starting from Member? How many got 150 after starting as Full Member? Yea I don't have numbers on that but let me guess it's less than 5% overall. To be honest I think it's unfair to those that were active in here earlier than others and it should be possible to lose your rank over time if you don't collect merits in a certain amount of time (maybe last 120 days). Let me counter ask you. Is it fair for people who have quality and do a great contribution to get same merit with many normal people here? If most people give merit to single person, then that person is the standard. Please look at that member's meritted post and compare it to yours. The fact that some of posts didnt get merit is because the posts are not great or there are greater posts than that posts. Ranking is slow now? So? Did this forum have the obligation to make you a legendary member to get a better payment in sig? |

Hello people. How you like merit system on btt? I think it's quite effective to prevent a lot of spam accounts of bounty hunters, but because it's new i think it's need some fixes and rebalance. Especially what should do the regullar member to get amazingly 100 merits!? What's your opinion about that?

I have a suggestion about this merit system, I do not know if anyone has ever suggested this, if it is already there I apologize.
my suggestion is, if only every new member like (Brandnew, Newbie and Jr.Member) has their own forum place that they can use to try to make a quality post will surely more menguraingi post junk and spam.
after that you can give them merit for the post they made, I think this will make it easier for beginners and new members in this forum.

I am from Indonesia, and i feel embarassed too by this kind of members. People here tend to have poor mentality and they will do anything to get money, even though it is against the rules and their belief (which is a sin). I will not feel sorry if someday they got tagged or banned because people have proof of their cheating act. In fact, i really hope that higher authority like mod or admin can clean this forum from spammer like that. If you have time, maybe you, ThePharmacist, can do some work together with Indonesian local board mods, BitRentx and dbshck.
