Hey, where are Royse777 & JSRaw these days? There are just 5 days left for IPL Aren't we going to continue that IPL Prediction pool which was pending when IPL was postponed? I was on number 3 I remember Grin would love to see that being continued, or at least we need to make another discussion thread to ensure that this doesn't get spammed with only IPL discussion. If he isn't available do you guys want me to make a thread or maybe you bryant.coleman can create one or let's just continue posting in this old thread as I don't see it's locked : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5114470.0

~snip~

Nor was the schedule of test series set up on the fly. Players are always fit and available for leagues but not for national side event. There must be some schedule like we have in football, where leagues don't interfere with national side schedule.
Was anyother team like Sri lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh allowed to do the same with ECB? I really doubt.
BCCI sitting at top as far as food chain is concern, this doesn't surprise anyone tbh.

ECB and CA rolled over CSA last year. ICC did nothing and BCCI did the same with ECB.

Indian team was in England for 4 months and BCCI tried their best to move Old Trafford test to early as possible but ECB repeatedly declined the request because they wanted to take care of "The 100".

The BCCI president (Sourav Ganguly) has issued a statement. He has said that the replacement match for the 5th test should be considered as a continuation of the England vs India series. This contradicts the report made by an Indian news paper, which claimed that Ganguly wanted the replacement match as a one-off event. But implicaitons are greater than a series loss for the ECB. If the ICC rules that the action by BCCI amounted to "acceptable non-compliance", then the ECB won't be able to claim the insurance payment for the abandoned test.
Is this recent statement? Sounds silly to me.

David Malan, Johny Bairstow and Chris Woakes have decided they won't be going for IPL 2021 2nd half to Dubai, they have cited reasons that they want to spend some time with family before world cup and Ashes but after all we all know that this is a consequence of India cancelling the 5th test against England, I thought ECB Would directly make a stern decision regarding this but they rather took the secret way by forcing their players to Don't go for IPL to avenge what Indian did. Now I personally think that IPL won't be much affected by this rather it would be English players who would lose a lot on money and I am not sure their board will reimburse them for this.
If i'm not wrong then Malan is about to feature in County cricket this week so his decision of pulling out from the IPL influenced by the Ashes. There might be some angle of ECB forcing him but i won't take this conspiracy theory seriously because ECB and BCCI are in good terms if not excellent.

England players made their decision to pull out of the IPL, i thought everyone would consider the IPL as a training ground to perform well for the upcoming T20 World Cup but Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes has decided not to play the IPL and i am not sure Ben Stokes is having any plans to play the World Cup and hence it is obvious he wont be playing the IPL.

I don't really understand the England players. The decision to pull out of the IPL will cost them huge amounts of money. Ben Stokes' contract is worth $1.8 million with Rajasthan Royals. For Archer and Buttler, it is $1 million and $617,000 respectively. These players need to realize that they will receive these sort of earnings only during their peak period. Maybe after two or three years, they will be able to get only a fraction of these amounts. When they are supposed to play in the T20 World Cup (at the same venue), it doesn't make any sense to withdraw from the IPL.
Ben Stokes took his name out from the T-20 WC, Ashes and IPL due to mental health concern.Archer is injured and not playing any tournament this year. Buttler also pulled out of the 2nd phase of IPL couple of months back when he and his wife were expecting their second kid. Jonny Bairstow and David Malan are eying spot in the Ashes / T-20 team so going through 3 bubbles back to back is tough task. Don't know about Woakes. So overall is completely understandable from players point of view.

So you are implying that the team batting first will be winning the matches in the series,

Ideally anyone batting first intends to pile on as many runs as they can. Then, when they either declared or are bowled out and are fielding will want to try to prevent the opposition from reaching the score that they have set.
Declaration rules apply in only Test cricket (5 days) or First class cricket (domestic, 4 days tourney). It doesn't work in Limited overs cricket T-20,T-10, The 100 balls or ODI.
3292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 11, 2021, 05:12:35 AM
This is the first time in my 36 years of watching cricket a series is hanging on the ropes for the decision by the ICC   Cheesy. Yesterday the Indian team was cleared to play the match but today someone got positive test results and so is the reason they decided to not play and since we are going through a pandemic the ICC will rule this as an abandoned match or they will reschedule the match at a later time which i think is appropriate.
ECB has clearly said that the new rescheduled match would be considered as a one-off test and not the part of this series, so ideally India has won this series as of now, but I don't think any sort of felicitation would take place, so accept it or not but the whole series which gave us so many good matches has been wiped off due to the Pandemic, while BCCI claims that Covid is the reason for the postponement, ECB say that BCCI is giving IPL more importance that the bilateral commitments that it has made with ECB, if this remains the scene I won't be surprised if ECB stops its players from going to IPL this time.
My reading

- India was there for 4 months.
- There was no bubble, all info is available in public domain.
- Before the series BCCI requested ECB to schedule series bit early, more importantly requested to reduce 9 days gap between 2nd and 3rd test so that they can get all players for IPL in timely manner.
- ECB declined due to The 100 tourney.
- Damadji got covid along with staff
- Second Physio also got positive, this triggered the drama cause players were in contact due to obvious reason.
- Players got concerned due to health, family and IPL which is obvious because of big pay check (no one admitting tho lol)
- ECB don't want to look bad in their country, which is understandable hence "forfeited" statement but BCCI got a bigger $ick so ECB retracted the statement with in minutes.
- ECB lost around $30 million because of cancellation, concern was genuine but BCCI might have counter this argument by saying that $300 million (IPL, 1 full season is worth $500-$600 m) is more important.
- BCCI is not CSA, SLC (every body know what happend in South Africa and Sri lanka) so no question of arm twisting.
- ECB and BCCI officials are in bed together anyway, that's why they are part of PIG 3 club so there would be zero effect in their business relationship at all.
- Some English players already pulled out last year due to injuries and mental health.

India have forfeited the final Test due to covid!!

2-2 series draw %uccckkkkk

--------------
Edit
Not forfeited, guess there is some confusion because ECB published some wrong statement.

Match Cancelled so result should be 2-1 to India

The fifth Test between England and India, scheduled to begin on Friday (September 10), has been cancelled.

"Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp, India are unable to field a team," said an amended statement from ECB. A previous version of the statement had indicated that India would 'forfeit the match' which has since been removed.

Cricbuzz understands that the Indian players wrote a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expressing apprehension over playing the Test at Old Trafford.

Both teams have vulnerabilities and capable of making comeback so its hard to predict.

England batting line up is dependent on Root, Indians doing good so far despite their out of form middle order but we have seen fair amount of batting collapse in this series so both teams are equally shit against each others lethal bowling lineup. England and India are competitive when bowl start to move but when sun comes up or pitch becomes flat Indian bowlers and batters are dominating as we have witnessed in the last game.

Our team looks strong but considering our recent records in the ICC tournament, i doubt if we are going to win the finals after all we are new chokers ladies lol

What the hell is going on with England
3299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 06, 2021, 03:36:07 AM
291 runs in 90 or 98 overs, required run rate is 3.2 or 2.9

Flat pitch, 10 wickets in hand and there is no Ashwin, England might fancy their chances. Its going to be excellent chase if they manage to hold their nerves.

Any predictions?

3300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 05, 2021, 05:09:31 AM
Nearly perfect day for the Indians, losing 2 quick wicket in an over was distasteful but its okay i suppose.

3rd day pitch was excellent to bat on but i feel English bowlers bowled very good line throughout the day and credit to our batters for holding their nerves during tricky first session. KL Rahul did okay, surprisingly Pujara did excellent job too. He was literally playing for his career and he looked determined, at one time his strike rate was touching 70-80 which was amazing to witness. Hitman finally got his first ton in SENA countries. I never believed that he was much of test player despite being a champion batsman in white ball because of his poor show in the test since 2013 but his luck changed once he started opening, one would new avatar of Rohit so very happy for him.

India is in commanding position atm and they can dictate the terms if they bat for another 1 and half session, hope there is no batting collapse. India wouldn't mind if pitch start to deteriorate after lunch tho because we shouldn't forget that there is no Ashwin. Bumrah was struggling with his ankle problem and so far Thakur-Siraj didn't look in rhythm.
