Does anyone know whether they admit women's cricketers to the MRF pace academy? That place has produced a large number of quality pace bowlers (men, obviously).
Interesting one.

I guess answer is no but situation could change in the near future or i would say will improve. So far i'm very impressed with the team in the Tests, in my memory they only played 2 tests in recent time but still this team showed enough character especially against England. I think WIPL is key to the Indian Women Cricket. Once they start the league, pacers are going to enter automatically, similar thing happened for Men's cricket. Batting and Spin department are okay IMO.

Having said that. Dhoni finished the match with the six after ages so i don't mind much hehe it was paisa vasool moment.
Gave me flashbacks of the World Cup winning 6 which felt great. I think it's the same stadium too.
Bhudda feel kar raha hun WC ko yaad karke lol

Nah it was Wankhede Stadium (50-50 over WC)

Changed my mind for RR. It's now narrow.

Arey aisa mat karo sir ji  Grin

Am I safe to say MI is getting out of the contest this season without qualifying for the play off? They are currently standing at 6th position with 10 points. They have to rely on what Kolkata and Punjab do in their matches; of course there’s no alternative of winning next two matches at the first place for them. It will be very surprising since MI was dominating the IPL for quite long time.
I had a bet placed for MI to win & so does for CSK. Already lost the first one though second one seems in my favor so far.
Disappointing and very surprising to see them struggling like this. So far almost every batter looking out of touch and inconsistent in UAE leg, you don't expect that from the champion team but guess as a team they are going through some rough phase or may be opposition players rising to the occasion from time to time against them and making a big difference.

Eventually, the PBKS team was able to win against KKR. KKR lost this match due to their bowling in today's match. I don't understand why Shakib Al Hasan is not being given a place in the squad even after being in the team. Narine is not performing as expected. Southee bowled very poorly today. Management should give Shakib a chance.

Only 4 overseas players can be included. One of their best bowlers can't be included (Lockie Ferguson), because spots were taken by Tim Southee and Sunil Narine. Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell make up for the remaining spots (they included Tim Seifert in the place of Russell yesterday). If Shakib has to be included, then the captain himself needs to drop out. Otherwise the bowlers are in very good form (Narine, Ferguson, Southee). Also, there is no room for an allrounder, as Venkatesh Iyer is doing an amazing job right now.
They should have added Shakib for the last game. Seifert is opening batsman and he came at no 7. Local openers doing good job for the KKR so Seifert inclusion in the squad made no sense to me. Also Shakib could have bowled as front line bowler so that they don't need to use part timers during critical period but it seems Morgan losing his mojo with his form along with the coaching staff.

This year's IPL has been filled with so many events. For the first time in six years, Sunrisers Hyderabad, one of the best opponents, failed to qualify for the playoffs. Anyway, is this what happens when you drop David Warner? It was disappointing to see how badly management messed up this season as SRH fan. I'm not sure what will happen next season either. It may not be elimination, but Warner will never return.
Dropping player due to lack of form is understandable as they also need to test other players mostly young ones but franchise should treat their senior players with respect, you can't say to them that you're dropped and don't come at ground when your team is playing, not official report but rumors floating around.

And its really look bad when its David Warner who contributed so much in SRH for over the years
3226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: October 01, 2021, 02:01:00 PM
How many more matches left? I think I'm officially out of contest as I can't get so many points to chase the top guys lol. I need to have won all the rest matches with margin point while the top guys need to lose point. My calculation now is somewhat like MI to qualify for the play off.
12 and you can still climb up if you manage to win all remaining games with the margin points. Btw you're not that far.

Lol. That didn't age well. @Vishnu's luck is crazy recently. It looked like CSK would thrash SRH within 15 overs at one point, but MSD took it deep as usual and helped his team win the match in a stylish manner though it was a narrow win.

SRH morale is down in the gutter in recent times(Warner getting kicked, consistently poor domestic performers etc) which is why betting on them is very risky currently.
Duh
Yeah very poorly aged post lol. Vishnu cheated, he changed his option after the toss so his last margin points shouldn't count in my retarded world  Grin

3227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 30, 2021, 06:00:36 PM
Chennai Super Kings took the game till the last over and MSD finished the match like he always does with a huge six. He is the only player who takes singles till the end and then finish off in grand fashion and you cannot find players like that who are confident like him, such a brilliant player. What surprises me is that Chennai Super Kings is playing with the same team that was eliminated first last year and now they are the first team that qualified.
Thala taking game deep and finishing off with the aerial shot, good old days. I'm already feeling old now lol

Last season was exception when they were kicked out, tons of criticism were floating around them being a retiring squad as most of em are 35+ yo. CSK management deserve admiration to stick to their players even in their bad times. One opposite example is see how SRH treating David Warner right now, although they did back him during Sand paper saga but he was in excellent form that time.
3228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: September 30, 2021, 02:04:27 PM
but I didn't expect almost everyone to choose similar options.

We do have some differences today when choosing options, which is good thing i suppose.

Going with the underdog and i think SRH might win today because they have nothing to lose so there is a chance that players can express themselves freely when comparing to CSK. Also there is a possibility of CSK humiliating them lol, would be perfect if match going deep tho.

Vishnu was hinting something else but went exactly opposite.  Grin Grin

Probably because of PCB efforts and criticism on ECB, they promised to tour in 2022 with tests and ODIs. Finally some good news for PCB and fans.
ECB chairman promises to 'do everything we can' to travel to Pakistan on schedule in 2022.

This doesn't mean anything. ECB still requires approval from the UK government to tour Pakistan. And with the current security situation, I would say that the probability of that is less than 1%. Just coming up with a statement, ensuring "we will do all that we could" doesn't need any approval or effort. But the problem is that such a statement doesn't guarantee that the England team would tour Pakistan in 2022. The PCB should arrange the matches in neutral venues such as the UAE or Oman, if they don't want any last minute cancellations.
Considering PCB recent reaction, they are unlikely to change their stance about playing on neutral ground.

ECB postponing tour, Australian looking for excuse just to cancel their tour and PCB CEO Wasim Khan also stepped down couple of days back. Things are not looking good for the PCB. This Wasim Khan was really hard working guy, hope his replacement able to fill his shoes.

Okay fellas, today's point table doesn't look good if RCB wins the match.

We need to stop doing that. We are wasting game points as well if we all happen to choose only one team with exact same -winning margin-. Need some diversity with the result here folks.  Grin Grin

Only famLFC is playing by the rules.

Hi Guys,

A pretty huge "Behind the Bet" coming up Thursday.. Mr. Jonty Rhodes.

For those Cricket fans, this should be a great session!!  Shocked Shocked

Growing up in South Africa and making his way all the way to the top level of International Cricket, Jonty put his own mark on the game through his athletic fielding and ability to get to balls that no other cricketer had a chance too!

Jonty is currently assisting in the IPL format but is also a part-time coach of the Swedish Cricket Federation.

This was a massive coup for the Cricketing countries "Outside the Test Rankings" and I can't wait to hear his story!

regards,

Steve.

First Brett Lee and now Jonty Rhodes, congratulation! Both are very respectable and has a sizable fan following in my country.

This thread is not active nowadays as there is no test series going on but plz feel free to repost this in T-20 thread for more eyeballs, majority of punters are active there due to IPL.

Its fun part, this makes IPL very juicy to watch and very unpredictable. I really hope that play off final tally comes down to run-rate haha.
CSK and DC qualified which implies that RCB, MI, KKR, Punjab and RR are fighting for the remaining 2 spots. RCB and KKR are in a better position to grab the remaining 2 spots currently in my opinion.

At one point, CSK had just 1-2 wins from their 10 matches, but they won 3 out of the next 4 matches (that was when Ruturaj Gaikwad was included in the playing XI and they finally dropped the out of form Kedar Jadahav). CSK in 2020, SRH in 2021.
Completely forgot about CSK winning continuously towards the end of the season. Jadhav needs to retire across all formats of Cricket since he hasn't been performing for a long period of time.

This is where we stand. Each team has to play 14 Matches

-4 games for Royal Challangers, so they seem almost safe if they manage to win 2 more games.
-Riders and MI both are left with 3 games under their belt and same points so competition would be tough, KKR has better RR but RR can't save em if they fail to perform. MI is champion team so they can bounce back.
-Punjab's future looks bad as they left with only 3 games and they have a history of throwing games from winning position.
-Rajasthan need to win every game if they want something.
-Sunrisers are already out but they can play the role of party pooper, it would be fun to watch if they manage with their last 4 games lol

Here you go! 🤪

Kolkata v Delhi    Kolkata (Easy)
Mumbai v Punjab    Punjab (Easy)
Rajasthan v Bangalore    Rajasthan (Easy)
Hyderabad v Chennai    Hyderabad (Easy)
Kolkata v Punjab    Kolkata (Easy)
Mumbai v Delhi    Delhi (Easy)
Rajasthan v Chennai    Rajasthan (Easy)
Bangalore v Punjab    Bangalore (Comfortable)
Kolkata v Hyderabad    Kolkata (Easy)
Delhi v Chennai    Delhi (Easy)
Lol Easy Easy Easy hahaha nice  Tongue Roll Eyes Grin

~snip~

SRH are basically eliminated at this point which is why there is no pressure on them. On the other hand, RR's chances of making it to the playoffs are low primarily due to their NRR.
We have entered the phase where low ranking teams on the table are going to ruin the party for the play offs contenders. Its fun part, this makes IPL very juicy to watch and very unpredictable. I really hope that play off final tally comes down to run-rate haha.

Their team bonding, captaincy, vacuum, losing-winning etc were not the point of my post tho.

My motive was to point out the Sanju's consistency with the bat and his spot in the T-20 WC squad. Considering what's happening with the Mumbai Indian (Ishan +Sky poor form)

Be careful when you associate the word "consistency" with Sanju Samson. I agree that he has scored runs recently. But from what I have observed in the past, his good patch lasts only for 4-5 matches and after that he will suffer from a lack of form for the next 4-5 matches. The again his good patch will reappear. This is a never-ending cycle for Samson. And regarding Mumbai Indians, it is not right to blame everything on Ishan and SKY. What about the Pandya sisters? They are also not contributing anything to the team.
I'm looking at everything in context of T-20 WC, that's where form comes into play. Krunal Pandya is not part of the WC squad so i don't really care about his performance for his franchise. Hardik's Form with the bat is one of the major concern and he's not bowling at all, which indicate that he's not fit to ball or team (MI) is not showing enough confidence on his bowling but we have Shardul Thakur in reserve for that, if Hardik continues to fail. Thakur is not explosive batsman as Hardik but he seems better 3rd seamer for the team (Bowling allrounder).
3237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 28, 2021, 04:29:57 AM
Our thick boy Sanju leading the table with 1 ton + 2 50's and averaging 54, strike rate is also very impressive in this season. Lots of debate on his consistency for a quite some time, ofc for a right reason because he wasted many chances to prove himself. But i'm sure selectors and Virat are also noticing his recent numbers, if by any chance he manage to get Orange Cap then it would be tough to ignore him for T-20 WC Squad. Wild Card Entry looks possible to me.

The problem is that most of the time Samson scores a half century, his team ends up on the losing side. His captaincy is very poor. Last year, Steve Smith's captaincy worked well for RR, but poor form with the bat meant that he was kicked out of the squad. Samson has so far failed to fill the vacuum. RR currently has very weak team bonding and this is evident from their poor performance despite the presence of so many good players. And on top of that, the pullout of English players had a serious impact on them. No other franchise was affected due to the pullout more than RR.

I agree that BCCI is very hesitant to start WIPL and they need to face hard criticism for such behavior but this statement is completely wrong and BS. They didn't even hinted anything like that even when they were giving bizarre excuses.

Their record stuck at only one statement, they like to believe that they don't have enough local talent.

LOL.. not enough local talent? That sounds even more BS for me. WBBL is having 8 teams. The women's domestic competition in India is having a total of 38 teams. It may not be possible to have 8 franchises, but why can't they start with just 4 teams? I believe there is enough talent available in India to form at least 4 teams. And I would suggest one franchise each from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. When Indian players are participating in the WBBL and women's Hundred, what is the point in saying that there is not enough talent?
This statement first came from the Indian Women camp (senior players), even some of them mentioned this in Ashwin's channel. That's why they are advocating for 4-5 teams only. I also in favor of starting with 4-5 teams at start then adding more team, may be next season. One thing is sure, quality will increase in women team after this, guess no one can deny that.
3240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 27, 2021, 01:31:30 PM
This is really shocking news for me that BCCI is obliging their women cricketers for WBBL and Women's Hundred because if they start their own WIPL this can bring some very good profit and their women's cricket could be going in very good way, and they will be able to challenge big two of women cricket England and Australia because right now these ladies doing very impressive in last few years and this type activity will bring some good funds which can improve their ways with some big amount.

The excuse being given by the BCCI is that if they start any other league such as the WIPL, then it may have an impact on the popularity of the IPL. They are quite protective about the IPL and that is why they have banned Indian players from foreign leagues and have even banned overseas players from participating in state-level leagues such as the Tamil Nadu Premier League and Karnataka Premier League. The CA and ECB are not that protective and their justification is that the fan base for men's and women's game are not the same.
