3201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 08, 2021, 12:52:19 PM
@Sithara007 Hardik was in the playing 11 for sentimental reasons, because they wanted to give him match fitness for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Also besides Hardik collectively MI has failed, and at the end of the season they should introspect why they played so badly and fix the issues before next season starts.

This is another mystery. Why is this hard dick even in the Indian team for T20 world cup? There are so many promising youngsters who are fighting for a chance and the selectors went for a guy who is not 100% fit. To be honest, the selection of squad for the T20 World Cup disappointed me. They went for oldies like Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but ignored promising players like Shreyas Iyer and Devdutt Padickal. But the worst choice had to be that of Hardik Pandya. How did this guy managed to get in?
WC squad is likely to change before the WC as there is a provision of making change in the squad. Pandaya was selected because he is allrounder but he's not fit to bowl, in this case including him in the squad doesn't make sense, even selectors knows that. So wait for couple of more days, Pandaya is likely to get drop due to his fitness including Varun Chakravarthy, poor guy struggling with his knee injury.

Team selection depends on the slots like Openers + 1 down + Middle order batsmen + All rounder including bowler ( Seam-Spin). You can't fit top order batsman into middle order and vice versa.

Shreyas Iyer is back up middle order. Selectors already selected 2 new guys for the middle order SKY and Ishan Kishan. You need to drop one of em, if you want Iyer in the middle order.

Devdutt is Top order batter and competition is very tough for the openers (Gaikward, Mayank, Shaw, Gill etc). Just to give you example Selectors didn't even considered Dhawan and he's averaging 41 in this IPL season, Devdatt average as a openers is around 35 ish. Although i do think we need at least 1 back up opener in the squad atm we have none, Gaikward, Sikhar and Mayank are in good form with average of 44, 41 and 40 respectively.

I guess IPL has taken over everything that's why we are having IPL discussion in Test Cricket thread.

Exactly it has taken over our mind Grin Look what it has done to everyone here we forgot there is a thread dedicated to T20 cricket. I am pretty much sure everyone knows about that thread but we are so much stuck in IPL that we have forgotten everything.

That is what is brand value. Please stop discussing about IPL on this thread.

Well.. hardly anyone cares about test cricket these days. In the recent times we had too many meaningless bilateral tours. Personally I don't care about test matches unless big three teams (+NZ) are playing each other. The quality of other test teams have gone down the drain. Anyway, the Ashes is around the corner and hopefully it can reignite some interest in this format of cricket. But poor form of the Australian players (including Steve Smith) is a concern for me. There is a good chance that this time the Ashes will be one sided.
Well you started this IPL discussion by bringing big bad boy in thread. There is no test cricket going around so its fine but i would never say that " Hardly anyone cares about test cricket" I'll post detail data in near future (When in mood) ofc it would be related big 3, which majority of us agree including on bilateral fixtures.

Ashes is about to renamed as " The Bitches" although sare pagal ho rakhe hai aaj kal ki yeh series hogi ya nahi.

Damn!! I completely forget that we were having double header today, missed the opportunity to score some brownies points on Punjab king.

BCCI secretory recently gave some numbers on viewership. Are you guys making currupt BCCI rich by watching game live Grin Grin? I only watched handful matches live and missed majority of em in this UAE leg although i do following scorecard and every updates on teams etc as i'm throwing some bucks every now and then.

What! I thought I had Hyderabad to have a Narrow win 🤪
Don't act surprised because you gave this tip lol  Roll Eyes
Bangalore v Hyderabad    Bangalore (Narrow)

Edit

Benchoo MI is out, not officially tho but they are out. There is no way they can catch up with KKR's runrate even if they win the next game.

Base price is $280 ish Millions for one franchise, i do agree that price could cross $500 Millions easily but billion dollar deal for 1 team sounds too much to me tbh. Unless Tata Group also jumps in the auction, which seems unlikely atm.

@Juggy777 Adani is participating in the auction, he's one of the big fish in India after Ambani.

More than a decade ago, Subrata Roy paid $370 million for Pune Warriors India. And the second team (Kochi Tuskers Kerala) was auctioned for $332 million. That was in 2010. One decade has passed and the brand value of IPL has increased by manytimes. I won't be surprised if the auction price crosses $1 billion this time. Only two franchises are in offer and it looks as if this may be the final expansion of the IPL. So for the industrialists like the Adani and Goenka, this is like a once in lifetime opportunity.
You are right but at that time INR was about 45ish against the USD and right now it stand at 74.85 against USD. Back then Pune franchise final bid was around 1700 crore INR, atm new franchise base price is 2000 crore INR (approx $260 Millions). BCCI estimating 3500-4500 crore INR for one team.

https://www.livemint.com/Consumer/JoiRXbcOttykik23vtcXnK/Sahara-pulls-Pune-Warriors-from-IPL.html

I posted this news in august.

2 more teams in the IPL soon. (2022)
BCCI invites tender for new IPL franchises

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put a base price of Rs 2000 cr for the new teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After it sent out a release inviting bids for two new franchises on Tuesday (August 31), a BCCI office-bearer confirmed to Cricbuzz that the reserve price would be Rs 2000 crore, an expected figure considering that the Rajasthan Royals, not exactly a top-rung side in the league, had sold 15 per cent of its share at an overall value of Rs 1850 crore recently.

The final selling price could be more than Rs 3000 crore per team but one BCCI official said the board expects it to be higher than double of the reserve fee. Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the favoured destinations but a few other cities are also available for purchase. The whole process of bidding could be over by October second week enabling the two new franchises to witness the IPL final in Dubai on October 15."

RR got thrashed against MI and are out of the playoffs which implies that KKR and MI are gunning for the remaining 4th spot in the playoffs stage.
Is it confirmed? RR have a match against KKR on 7 Oct. If RR manages to win the match with huge margin, do they have a change? Can they turn their negative NRR into positive? I'm not sure if it's possible or not.
What I can see is MI going to qualify now  Grin KKR will lose the match against RR and MI will win the match against SRH.
Posted this in the T-20 thread, this might give you some idea.

So this is the scenario for 4th spot fight for the playoffs.

First 2 scenario are out of the equation because MI won convincingly last night, when no one was expecting them to win due to their poor form, at least majority of fans.

I really hope that 3rd scenario plays out, it would be more entertaining if it comes down to run rate.

3207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 06, 2021, 05:43:05 AM
BCCI is only after the money. If IPL is giving them so much why will they interfere with it and organize WIPL? Already they have suffered financially due to the pandemic situation. I do not think they will organize the WIPL anytime soon. They will wait and until the revenue drops from IPL, which I do not think will be happening anytime soon.

In around 3 weeks from now, they are about to auction two more teams for the IPL (25th October). This time, the auction amount is predicted to set new records. For two teams, the conservative prediction is a combined $1 to $1.2 billion, but given the extreme competition for getting a franchise, I won't be surprised if the BCCI ends up with more than $2 billion in their pocket. That should make up for any losses that they suffered due to COVID. Maybe they will think about the WIPL sometime after that.

Lol what a collapse. 90 all out in Sharjah? Can't stop laughing after checking scorecard.

Pitch is that bad or its just RR is playing like a shit? May be combination of both but later seems more obvious to me. Let's see how MI perform in the 2nd inning, Would be epic show if MI collapse too lol. Enough drama for punters to get a heart attack.  Grin Grin

Local players especially openers doing their job almost everywhere tho. For Indian team perspective local middle order looks bust completely.

Yes.. I have also noticed this. I thought that the Delhi Capitals were a bit better, but that perception was shattered yesterday. Or it may be due to the fact that the teams are asking their best batsmen to move up the order? In T20, getting a good start is very important. And secondly, some of the players who did the fireworks towards the end of the innings (Hardik, Pollard, Russell, Tewatia.etc) are not in their best form right now. And finally, there may be something unique with the pitches in the UAE, that makes things hard for the batsmen towards the end of the innings.
I think slow pitches in the UAE are the big reasons and playing major part in it. So far majority of matches are low scoring and dominated by the bowlers. I might be wrong but i think we still didn't get to see any 200+ score in UAE leg.

T-20 format is considered batters playground so i wonder if ICC wants some tweaking with the pitches for upcoming WC? Considering spectators do love watching big scoring games.
3211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: October 04, 2021, 06:02:50 PM
I had a small bet of 10 bucks on DC tonight, odds were almost same in my local sportsbook so it didn't matter much at the start.

Its seems competition in the pool is getting tight. We still have 6 more matches to go before finals kick in so everything seems possible atm. cheer up folks

Local players are a major weakness for SRH (apart from Saha in batting and at times, Bhuvi in bowling). The absence of Thangarasu Natarajan is not helping things either. Perhaps SRH is the team that is worst hit by the threshold of 4 overseas players per team. If the limit was 5, then I believe that they could have won a lot more matches.

It is going to be a very easy win for the Delhi Capitals. CSK could make only 136 in their 20 overs. At one point CSK were 62/4. None of the top 4 batsmen could make a total in excess of 20. And then there was a partnership between Ambati Rayudu and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, but the latter wasted too many balls. Ravindra Jadeja got just one over to bat. If he and Dwayne Bravo were sent earlier, then CSK would have made 150 at least. They just can't win the match with a total less than 150. And that too against a team like DC which is having a very solid middle order.
Ladies and gentleman, let me tell you truth and expose our comrade, he's mischievous and big liar lol

He gives different analysis and bet differently. He's stealing points from us in our little IPL pool and want to rip all you punters with his bets. I'm sure he must be enjoying this moment. He said easy win lol, FFS 15 overs and delhi is at 99 off 6 and chasing only 136 runs. They might end up winning this match in the end, fingers crossed lol.

But point is do exactly opposite if he's say "A" lol .
3213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 04, 2021, 03:59:44 PM
The two strongest teams of the season, Chennai and Delhi, will play today. It is very risky to bet on this match. Yet I like Dhoni so I bet on his team. Delhi capita won the toss and decided to bowl. Exactly how many runs will be enough to win this match cannot be said. Because both teams have talented bowlers and batter.
Both Chennai and Delhi have already qualified for the next round. The match here serves only as a warmup. To bet on any team is very risky, but today I am supporting CSK as it will also help RCB. The Chennai Super Kings are 136/5 after 20 overs. That's a competitive score. Now it's up to DC batters to reach the target.
Its not a warm up game, that's a beauty of the IPL. Just look at the final fixtures chart.

Top 2 teams gets second chance if they somehow manage to lose the 1st qualifier encounter. 3rd and 4th team doesn't get this oppourtunity as they play eliminator. RCB got 16 points and atm fight is to stay on Top 2 due to obvious advantage, so hardly a dead rubber.

3214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: October 04, 2021, 07:09:40 AM
I disagree. The score was so small that they focused primarily on preserving their wickets which was a good strategy. At the end, they won pretty easily though they dragged the game till the end.

When you keep everything for the last over, mistakes happen. At one point, Rana had a score of 7 runs from 20 balls. Is this the way to play in T20? He improved his strike rate later, but a lot of unnecessary strain was created as a result of his slow innings. Dinesh Karthik handled things well in the end, else SRH might have pulled of an upset. SRH do have two world class bowlers in Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But Rana struggled against ordinary bowlers like Umran Malik and Siddarth Kaul.
This is becoming norm in this UAE leg, don't know if pitches are that slow or some other reasons but majority of teams and players struggling to keep up with the momentum and ruining the openers efforts.

I mean how many times we have noticed this in UAE leg so far? I would say plenty of examples in recent time.

~snip~

BTW, JSRAW will be happy. The Kolkata Knight Riders have included Shakib Al Hasan in their squad (replaces Tim Seifert). BTW, Umran Malik from Jammu and Kashmir is making his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Bhai i'm big fan of Shakib in every format. I wish we had couple of more guys like him along with Jaddu and Ashwin. Good on KKR that they included him tonight, hope he perform with the bat too. Pitches in UAE are slow and SRH bowlers are good on slow pitches so they need to watch out for the surprises.

Umran Malik is local guy for me but never heard about him in the domestic, guess Irfan Pathan is backing him similar to Samad.

Next is up now. I really hope we will have variations in picking our teams. :-D
Yeah, right lol

Koach and co got entry into playoffs, can he pull off? Don't forget fellas its his last IPL as a Captain for his franchise and he has virtually no reason to leave RCB in near future so its last chance. Let's see if he gets to play in the finals and remove the panuti tag.

Eventually, the PBKS team was able to win against KKR. KKR lost this match due to their bowling in today's match. I don't understand why Shakib Al Hasan is not being given a place in the squad even after being in the team. Narine is not performing as expected. Southee bowled very poorly today. Management should give Shakib a chance.
Only 4 overseas players can be included. One of their best bowlers can't be included (Lockie Ferguson), because spots were taken by Tim Southee and Sunil Narine. Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell make up for the remaining spots (they included Tim Seifert in the place of Russell yesterday). If Shakib has to be included, then the captain himself needs to drop out. Otherwise the bowlers are in very good form (Narine, Ferguson, Southee). Also, there is no room for an allrounder, as Venkatesh Iyer is doing an amazing job right now.
They should have added Shakib for the last game. Seifert is opening batsman and he came at no 7. Local openers doing good job for the KKR so Seifert inclusion in the squad made no sense to me. Also Shakib could have bowled as front line bowler so that they don't need to use part timers during critical period but it seems Morgan losing his mojo with his form along with the coaching staff.

Morgan is not doing well. Seifert's performance is not good. The team is not getting the expected performance from Sunil Narine. In this situation, they should be given a chance to be the best player in the world like Shakib. If Shakib had been in the squad in the previous match, I think Kolkata could have won. Kolkata lost only because of poor bowling.
Oh well, it was Seifert's first IPL game so he was debutant in the last game he played. My point was he's opener not lower order batsman so Morgan and KKR's think tank wasted him in the last game, they can't fit him at the top order because Local talent is doing exceptionable job. Clearly a lack of planning and tactic keeping Shakib out from the bench.
