Arey what happened to Anderson? Can't find his name in roaster. Is he injured or taking rest.
Taking a break but not injured. With James Anderson out of the game, Jamie Overton makes his debut for England. The series has been confirmed, so England will try out others.
This fucker could have taken rest later but i guess the dead rubber one off test of Eng vs Ind is more important to him Cheesy

Anyway the 1st day of warm up match didn't go well for regualar Indian batters, it's good overall as i believe it'll keep em grounded for final matchup.

^^ I agree we're not ready but if for some weird reason it get hits in the subcontinent specially India then BCCI is going to exploit it without any doubt.

It happened with the T-20 so i don't think BCCI is going to ignore another milking cow, if it's realistic business model.

CPL and Windies cricket board are coming up new form of T-10 cricket. Some interesting rules out there like 6 wickets (all out), Mystery free hit (this one sounds fun) and most important one penalty for slow over rate.

Quote
For this, the league has come up with brand new rules under which the matches will be played. Here are some.

-Each batting team has six wickets – at the fall of the sixth they are all out

-Each batting team has two PowerPlay overs. They can unlock a third PowerPlay by hitting two sixes in the first 12 balls. This extra PowerPlay over can be taken at any time between overs 3-9.

-There will be 30 balls bowled from one end before the action switches to the other end for the final 30 balls.

-The 30 balls will be delivered as 5 separate overs, with no bowler being able to bowl more than 2 overs for the innings.

-Teams have 45 minutes to bowl their overs. If they are too slow a member of their team is removed from the field for the final six balls.

-Fans will vote for the timing of a “Mystery Free Hit” where a batter can’t be dismissed by the bowler.

-The first edition of THE 6IXTY will take place from 24 to 28 August in St Kitts & Nevis at one of world cricket’s fastest scoring grounds – Warner Park. Future expansion plans of the 6IXTY include the potential of multiple events at different locations around the Caribbean and beyond.

The third and the final test between England and Newzealand has started. Newzealand won the toss and choose to bat first. They have already lost both their openers and have scored only 39 runs at the moment. Not a good start for Newzealand. This is a crucial match for the test world cup champions if they lose this match then this series will be a whitewash.
Arey what happened to Anderson? Can't find his name in roaster. Is he injured or taking rest.

Looks like Eng won the 1st session, surprising that Jack leach also took a wicket on first day pitch.

India is playing warm up match against Leicestershire. Rishabh Pant, Bumrah, Pujara, Prasidh Krishna playing for Leicestershire.

Ashes in Australia is one-sided affair tbh  Undecided

@JSRAW you’re correct but what do you think under Stokes and their new coach leadership will England be able to change their performances in Ashes?, and I know that there’s yet time but the initial signs do look promising. Lastly politics aside India should play test matches with Pakistan, because I remember that it was so much fun watching Sehwag score 300+ runs against Pakistan, and both sides are very strong now hence it’ll be really memorable to watch them play against each other.
They are already competitive in Ashes when they play at home and i do see some possibility of England as a unit performing good in the Australia due to these reasons.

-Stokes as skipper and BAZ (McCullum) as coach are advocating attacking cricket with the bat, which they were lacking. It's double edge sword tho, cause sometime they are going to fail but it's a positive step.

- I also feel that in next cycle OZ 2 main batters David Warner and Steve Smith are going to decline. Former is already showing sign of declining in whites and latter still making useful runs but at the same time he's also showing chink in his armor every now and then, i hope i'm wrong.

-Aussie do have Mighty Marnus but according to stats he basically got this status because of opposition shitty fielders. Adding good study case Labuschagne - lucky, and making the most of it. So he's also vulnerable.

For Indvspak, may be we should wait for 2032.

^^^^ I like Border-Gavaskar Trophy better when it is played in Australia. Nowadays India just dominates test matches that are played at home, irrespective of the opponent. When the series is played in the Southern hemisphere, it becomes more entertaining and competitive. I like Ashes, notwithstanding which country is hosting the series. The Trans-Tasman Trophy is another enjoyable test series, partly due to all the bad blood which exists between both the sides that take part in it. But the undisputed champion is India vs Pakistan test series, which in all probability will not take place for the next two decades.
Lol sorry didi but this one cracked me up  Grin as i've never heard anyone saying this about Trans-Tasman trophy. It's good for Kiwis bashing from OZ point of view but not exciting to watch, individual contests are exceptional tho. The way i see it NZ is Australia's SL (similar to Ind-SL cricket relationship)

I can feel these franchise can break NFL records for media rights and in salaries because I read currently they are second in selling of media rights after NFL which is at No 1 around the globe, but they are going to lose their slot in near future.
Nah bhai it's not going to happen in next 2-3 decade or so at least.

NFL is Century old league and IPL is relatively new kid in this business, they are catching up fast but it's still way too behind commercially. Former generate almost $6-7 billion revenue per year from only media rights and their new media rights might double their existing figures.

Matching Per match values might be possible but overall it'll take time.

~snip~

Franchises are mostly owned by billionaires, but I don't think that they will take this risk. Already a lot of propaganda is going on in social media against the two richest individuals in India (Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani). Major infra projects such as bullet train are being opposed by the left-wing. My feeling is that, if anyone is in a position to take such a step, then it is going to be the BCCI. I checked the cost for one of the stadiums. Etihad Stadium (City of Manchester Stadium) cost around £150 million in total ($185 million). The Marvel Stadium was even more expensive, at A$460 million ($320 million, that too two decades ago).
It's politically motivated for obvious reason as everyone wants brownie points, imo main reason is voting power lean towards economical marginalized section. Not going into more details as it'll derailed the topic but you got the gist of it.

At this point of time new stadium will eat minimum billion dollars so now you can figure it out.

The BCCI actually listening to the fans? That happens once in a blue moon to be honest. If they wanted to construct stadiums with retractable roofs, they would have done so a long time ago, but they didn't primarily due to corrupt idiots.
Haha that's it that's a main reason lol.

What a proud moment for SL team and fans.

After 30 years they finally won a ODI bilateral against Australia at home. I'm surprised to see that how many spinners they had in the playing XI, tonight i counted like 4 and all of them were spinning the web around Aussie. At one time it was looking cakewalk for OZ but Waner's wicket changed the tide,

Even last over was bit tricky but skipper Shanaka did it, not convincely tho.
2449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 21, 2022, 05:36:48 PM
BCCI can't do anything on this matter, unless State board along with States comes with the solution, which i highly doubt it because our existing stadiums are in bad shapes and state boards are not even interested in fixing such issue so i'm not expecting anything drastic. Then there is also sustainability situation, in current situation it's not possible at all.

IPL fixtures could change that but for this IPL need to have big window like 4-5 months so that expensive (retractable) stadiums could get at least 20-25 home matches to even break even price.

Not that sure about the sustainability. Having retractable roofs would ensure matches during the monsoon season, and it can bring tons of revenue to the BCCI. With the IPL media rights going up by 3-4 times every 5 years, I don't think that the authorities need to worry about the ROI. For example, the washed out 5th T20I against South Africa could have been saved, if it was played in a stadium with such a facility. BTW, when was the last time we had cricket matches in stadiums with retractable roof? I remember a few matches two decades back in Australia.
India hardly play any high profile series during monsoon, may be Duleep trophy is schedule around that time, not sure about it.

Let's say BCCI does manage to build 3-4 new retractable stadium in metro cities, they need to build everything from scratch or demolished old ones as old stadium are not equipped for retractable roof. How many times they are going to used it, max 10 matches per year and this include IPL fixtures as well. They can't allocate all IPL and Bilateral home series in those limited stadiums because of rotation policy. BCCI indeed earning big bucks but it's not like they are keeping 100% amount to its own piggy bank, as of now its 50-50 (BCCI-franchise) partnership.

Franchise can take this initiative as majority of owners are billionaires but for this to happen we need decentralized system where no state cricket body is interfering in franchise business. Former can even build multi purpose stadium if they want to.

I also remember few BBL's game, it was funny situation when batter hit the roof, guess it was gayle or maxwell.

The 4th ODI between Sri Lanka and Australia resumes today. With a 2-1 lead, Sri Lanka is ready to create history in the fourth ODI. I am firmly convinced that the historical series will be won by the Lions today. There are many talented young players on their team. As a result of their confidence, they'll be outperformed world champions as well. I would like to watch a good Australian vs Sri Lanka match.

My guess is that today's Australia will win. They had lost the previous two matches. In the second match, Australia could not win even after batting for only 221 runs. And after giving a target of 292 runs in the third match, they lost. They may be able to identify their own weaknesses. Hopefully in today's match, they will solve their mistakes and win.
I personally want to see Lankans fighting hard and win the series.

I also feel that SriLankan fans really need this win so that they can forget about their suffering for just few hours and freshen up as it's incredibly tough time for SL as country.

Call it distraction or whatever but they need it badly.

Moonsoon season is expected start of July but this time monsoon rains are in mid of June. Anyways its a welcome rain by both teams as nobody lost the series due to this rain.
Wrong shill. Monsoon season starts in June in India. Do your research properly.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_India

Also, it didn't help at all since most fans including me wanted to see a proper, epic conclusion to the series where both teams kept swinging up and down and there were several twists and turns. A boring draw isn't what most people wanted.

In different parts of India, the Monsoon starts at different time. But I agree that the deciding match being called off turned out to be a big anti-climax. It was a disaster for the TV broadcasters, as they would have lost huge amounts of advertisement revenue. The BCCI is now richer by $6.2 billion, from the sale of IPL rights. They should seriously consider setting up a few stadiums with retractable roof. It's going to be expensive, but will prove to be profitable in the long run. Rain interruption is always a big issue for cricket in South Asia.

We have BGT first (Around feb-March 2023) then Ashes in England (August, may be). My top 3 series...

-Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India. Australia lose most of the time but its always very competitive series. OZ keep Indian team on toes throughout the series which i hardly see from any other team.
- Ashes in England provides non-stop entertainment due to volatile conditions (even Eng vs Ind). Ashes in Australia is waste of time because it always end up as one-sided affair.
- Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Last 2 series were top notch, especially last one.

Rest of the tests, well lots of if, buts and ehh..

It looks like Rain has ruined the decider. Saffa team might able to save their record one more time, although it's 50-50 for both teams.

I hope they don't make this 5-5 overs affair but its only logical to lose overs after this rain delay.
----------

Any positives for Indian team after this series? I'd say mixed bag.

There are some proposals for tier-2 type of WTC for Afg, Ire, Zim + associate nations but for this ICC need to subsidise new set of series, which is hard for them.

I've said couple of times that in a longer run Relegation system could potentially save the Test format but everyone likes Status quo, so here we are.

Not surprised here. Compared to the previous cycle, the ICC funding for associate nations got reduced by more than two-thirds for the current cycle (2015-23). From $65.25 million per year, the funding went down to $20 million per year, and for every test nation it increased by significant amounts. For the next cycle (2023-2031) I am expecting further reductions, as the pig-4 is firmly under control of the ICC after the departure of Shashank Manohar. Within the next 10 years, I expect most of the teams with native players (Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, Namibia.etc) to face the same fate as that of Zimbabwe and Kenya. And once that happens, there will be no scope for a tier-2 WTC championship.
I don't know anything about associate nations funding so i won't comment on that.

Anyway new ICC chief and many others already said that no one expecting Test cricket to expand to associates nation because it's not practical.

Let's see what happens in next 10-20 years.

^^ I won't single out Bongs here as every team shit their bed when they tour overseas, losing overseas is not a problem but the way team surrender it irritates the fans.

India always get bundled up badly in NZ, things are getting better in Eng and SA due to competitive series. Aus perform badly against SA, sometimes even at home. Eng always lose in Aus, Ind royally. So it's nothing new. I won't compare Ban with Afg as i believe Afghanis are nowhere near them, might change if they start playing 6-7 test every year.

Being full member doesn't guarantee playing in WTC. It's true for Ireland and Zimbabwe as well, it's no brainer that it's connected to sustainable model of test cricket. When NZ is not making any profit with the test match then how could we expect same from smaller boards. There is a reason that every team play 2-3-4-5 type of bilateral series, you would notice only PIG-3 play 5 test match series.

This is something that we never see in the IPL. We generally see the Indian players and also the players from overseas fighting to play in the IPL. If players are not interested in BBL, that is not going to be good for BBL at all. I think they earn a really good amount of money and they can afford to give the players a little more salary. And salary is the only thing which can attract great overseas players. They have to increase the salary and that is going to result in better players being attracted to BBL and eventually, they will generate better revenue.
Recently heard that CA are thinking of introducing draft system for foreign players in BBL, some foreign players might find this set up more interesting.

IMO the main negative point for BBL is that their schedule is always clash with their own national team's fixtures. I find it weird that on one hand they play high profile series around nov-dec-jan (boxing day test etc) and also organise BBL.

Very proud of you Bongs  Undecided but now please rip off the band aid and get out as soon as possible so that you guys can have 2 extra days to enjoy the nice Caribbean weather.

This is last batting pair for the Bangladesh and still trailing 59 runs, let's hope they are not heading towards inning defeat.
2458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 18, 2022, 02:12:49 PM
^^ Leg spinners are dominating in the ICC ranking so i agree.

India improved their last 2 matches.4th T-20 match, Pandya and Karthik played brilliant knock they played match winning batting. Specially Indian bowler's did well their job now series 2-2.Unfortunately South African Captain did not play last match cz he was injured. What do you think who will win series?

Momentum is with India, and therefore I expect them to win the series. For South Africa, the spinners are leaking too many runs, and the pacers are unable to get the wickets. Kagiso Rabada managed to pick up just two wickets, after conceding 81 runs, while Tabraiz Shamsi picked up one solitary wicket for 102 runs. Anrich Nortje and Keshav Maharaj were slightly better. And for South Africa, the lack of form from their captain remains a concern. So far Temba Bavuma has scored 61 runs from 4 innings.
True momentum is with India but we also shouldn't forget that Proteas never lost the T-20 series in India and i guess they are the only team in the world to not lose any bilateral t-20 series.

Only positive sign is our young team has no baggage so this might work in our favor, hope Proteas choke tomorrow but at the same time we are also big time choker.  Grin
2459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 18, 2022, 05:46:50 AM
Talent is immense, no doubt about it but if you're not incentivizing the strike rates in T-20 then you deserve to doom. You should never expect becoming impact player in T-20 if your SR is below 140, period!!
You are missing one critical point which is the bowling factor. Scoring at lower strike-rates is absolutely fine as long as they don't waste too many balls. On the other hand, bowlers need to focus on improving their economy rates and taking wickets more consistently.
Completely opposite point of view. Bowlers are important part but T-20 is a format for the batters. In this format we can't expect bowlers to bail out team every time.

Lower strike rates are directly connected to batter wasting opportunity to score runs, not the other way around. If Career SR is hanging around 130-132 then it's understandable because sometime you click, sometime you don't but if your match SR is going down from that mark then it's bad for the team.

Just look at the scorecard of English batting in last match against Netherlands.

It looks like we won very convincedly, i don't think no one expected that, except curator i suppose.

I'm not going to lie, i didn't even watch  a single ball of this match but i was keeping tab on crickbuzz when we were batting and i still stand on my previous statement.

It's good that we won but fans should be honest and it's a fact that these young blood didn't showed any intent at all when batting.
