Bitcoin is never deflationary. Bitcoin is inflationary, with the rate of inflation falling toward zero over time.
If/when the rate of coin destruction exceeds the rate of coin creation then the money supply will shrink = monetary deflation. Okay fine, correct in that case if people lose coins But the algorithm and structure of Bitcoin itself is never deflationary.

I would love to be involved in this. Please PM me. I have quite a few sets I could upload. I'm specifically into the progressive and tech house styles, but I love it all.
Very cool!

Debt is not slavery. If I borrow money from someone, whether dollars or Bitcoins, I am in debt. But in no way am I a slave, I'm merely obligated to fulfill a voluntary contract. If debt is slavery, so too is employment, ordering chinese food, purchasing insurance, and marriage (some might argue with this last point Why won't this phrase go away??

Don't you just love the fact that Bitcoin isn't just theory but it's an actual real ongoing experiment which is going disprove all these ridiculous fallacies and meet these boneheads who believe in them with reality? Hahaha. Yes I think think the burden of proof falls upon the naysayers at this point. Against any criticism, advocates can simply say, "scoreboard!"

Mt. Gox is essentially no different than any bank which is doing the same thing: trying to control you by controlling your money.
Not true at all. Mt.Gox is not subsidized via force through the FDIC, nor is it privy to privileged borrowing from the central bank, nor does it exist upon a fractional reserve lending system. You can also be sure that Gox would prefer not to know anything about you, but feels compelled to follow AML and KYC laws because it is the highest profile bitcoin business (and I agree with them - it'd be extremely foolish for Gox to try and skirt the law, however asinine the law may be). You're not forced to use Gox if you care highly about your privacy. You don't have a right to use their private system unless they permit you to, and they permit it based on requisite information. I'd like to see exchanges which skirt the law, and don't ask for any ID... but Gox should not be the one to do it. It's far too vulnerable in its core Bitcoin position. Strategically speaking, Gox needs to resist stirring up trouble, so that others may

LOL... "our system sucks balls and lost you a couple hundred grand, so in return we'll let you keep using our service for free."
Bitcoinica lost all this money by the fault of Linode, and chose to cover the entire cost and reimburse its customers.
Linode enabled this loss through their own malfeasance, and chose not to cover any of the cost.
Bitcoinica has my sincere respect, and they demonstrate that even in the "wild west free market" of Bitcoinland, honor and market incentive can be better safeguards against theft than any regulatory body or legal system. Thank you Zhou! I hope you earn the money back 100 fold.

Oh Matthew... you're smarter than that It's a terrible comparison. The former is involuntary, the latter voluntary. Nobody is compelled by force to use Bitcoin, and thus it only survives on its merits. Completely different from a compulsory system which survives not on merit but on force and threat of violence. My point wasn't the intention of bitcoiners, it was the sad reality that the NSA will always be able to outgun Bitcoiners until the end of time because they don't have to work for their money. Is there actually evidence that the NSA can command over 10 TH/s?

You don't even need a smartphone to use Bitcoin. Any phone that can send texts is adequate.

Hey all,
I'm selling my iPhone 3G 8GB. It's jailbroken and unlocked. Have been using it with T-Mobile here in the US but it will work with other providers as well. Phone works perfectly. Back is scuffed a bit but front screen glass is in very good condition.
Would like 15 btc + 1.5btc shipping in the US
Please pm if interested.

It's laughable really--
"Hey let's go around an evil government system where people have to do things because the majority says so, by creating a currency that works the way the majority says so."

Hmmmm never even heard of easywallet.. they look like clones, but Instawallet has been around a long time and has earned at least some level of trust.
Just never keep more in an ewallet than you can afford to lose.

A currency designed so that inflation falls to zero. THAT is hot.

Both Jered Kenna and Tradehill are reputable and trustworthy. Make sure you've tried contacting them through multiple email addresses - they'll settle your issue eventually. I think there are just delays from all the Tradehill closure issues. Sorry to hear that it's taken a while.
