While us Bitcoiners are spoilt by the regulation-less environment we live it, we should remember that Bitcoin businesses which connect us to the legacy systems will be pressured to comply with laws. It is probably a good thing that they do, so that Bitcoin can grow faster before the Gov comes in with a vengeance against the currency itself.
Bitcoin operates beyond regulation. But, those touchpoints of the standard financial system do not.
Don't get mad at Gox specifically for this phenomenon. They will draw the most attention from authorities, and should probably do their best to coddle them whilst we develop...

It's called mindshare people.
Bitpay is at CES. Bitcoin is on TV. Maybe next year there are 5 bitcoin related companies at CES. A reporter runs a story on that. In a year there might be 70 or 80 charities which accept donations so people who have never heard of Bitcoin are seeing it in more and more places. Maybe a flash gaming site accepts Bitcoins for payments. Hell one year maybe even farmville or those other worthless facebook games accepts it. Someone sees a friend post something about it on their facebook wall. Someone sees a bitcoin payment option on a adult services site. A mag like wired runs a story on Bitcoin 5 years later. It gets talked about at a TED conference.
None of these are calls to action BUT THEY BUILD MINDSHARE.
More and more people start hearing about it and start seeing it more and more. They aren't looking for Bitcoin they just keep "running into it". Bitcoins is "everywhere" little by little. Slowly it pulls in your casual users. They start seeing it as real and not some scam or pyramid scheme.
Mindshare is very important. It is why companies do advertising that has no call to action, why the get football stadiums named after them, why they give away swag, why they pay athletes & celebrities to wear their logo, and why they PAY STORES to put their product in prime viewing areas (endcaps, etc).
Very well said. +1 Steps forward, all of it.

The supply of coins grows at the same rate regardless of demand. Stability requires a flexible supply increase to correspond with demand increase. This limitation will be an impediment to the growth of Bitcoin commerce.
You're completely incorrect. Prices cannot do anything BUT stabilize in the long-run. Now, in a Bitcoin world we may see the price for a coin change every day, but that change will asymptotically shrink over years and decades. What's important in a currency is that changes in money supply are A) minimal, B) predictable, C)not arbitrarily decided by specific actors. Bitcoin satisfies these requirements - and in fact Bitcoin offers the most predictable money supply ever created in any form of money.

Are the operation's tweets actually showing up on the screens? I don't see them in the #CES list of tweets on twitter, but I'm not a twitter user..
Yes they are there, you may not have looked through enough of them (because they're inundated in tons of #CES tweets). But, if you switch to "Top" tweets for that term, you should see some. I've been watching the streams for the past 48 hrs and our birds are flyin'

Is that 1.1M unique twitter users? If so, wow.
No, many are duplicates. Think of it like exposures in normal marketing terms. A web banner may get 1 million exposures, but many will be repeats. However, repeats are often very value - people are more likely to click something after seeing it a couple times.

The "Bitcoin ATM" is on display at CES now. Good attention getter. Lots of interest. I have laid out a dozen of my 25 BTC coins (stickers peeled) they make a nice visual aid.
Is it in Bit-pay's booth or somewhere else? Gonna make a FeedZeBirds #CES campaign on this asap

Tony sent this photo to me just now, with email subject: "Bitcoin booth is overflowing into the aisle!"

Thanks to the awesome community support for the #CES Blitzkrieg campaign, FeedZeBirds has hit over 1.1 million feedings in the past 24 hours. That is the number of Twitter followers who have been exposed to a FZB message during this time. To carry on with this momentum, Ira Miller had the fantastic idea for this campaign: http://www.feedzebirds.com/90eqbCara is a Huffington Post writer in the tech space - her blog is called "Talk Nerdy to Me." Obviously, she ought to write a piece on Bitcoin. So if you can retweet that message or donate a bit of coin, I have a feeling she'll get the message If she's smart, she'll realize that the entire campaign to retweet this message is made possible only by Bitcoin - thus the campaign is a demonstration of the technology and should intrinsically convey why it's important and interesting. Thanks again from the FeedZeBirds team - it's an honor to be able to promote the mighty coin with every tweet we send.

I feel so young around you old guys. 4 12 years old... really? are people trolling? Remember that Bitcoin cares not about age. It's the only ecommerce solution for the entire sub-18 population. Given the fact that Bitcoinica was created by a 17-year old, I think it's pretty exciting that that entire section of the population may be drawn towards btc.

That's because I just made them. I sent coins, but the campaign only turns on once the coin is received/confirmed. So they'll turn on automatically very soon.

Donations sent! Private waspoza reporting payment .1 to each of them.
Thanks guys! Today's the 2nd big day of CES. Keep twitter flooded. New TV's and phones are cool, but people need to know there are foundational tech advancements occurring. Everyone at CES should be exposed to Bitcoin.

A Bitcoin cheers at CES! Are these the hands of the future??? We'll see...

FYI - FeedZeBirds sent out over 700,000 "feedings" today, meaning 700,000 impressions - probably 85% of these were for the CES campaigns! This was the highest ever in one day. Remember that CES continues full strength tomorrow (Wednesday), so keep at it! I encourage you to create a unique campaign with "#CES" "bitcoin" and "booth 70018"... new campaigns can be retweeted by all the site members all over again, so this might be more valuable at this point than funding the current campaigns. Onward! FeedZeBirds.com

I work for Best Buy and have brought up the idea of them accepting bitcoins as a form of payment. They have said that they would like to me to do a presentation which I will present very soon. In addition to the presentation they have said that they would also like to hear from customers about using bitcoins so I am asking for everyone's help in getting them to accept bitcoins by going to http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Buy-IdeaX/Accept-Bitcoins-as-a-form-of-Payment-for-the-website-and-or/idi-p/425429 and leaving a comment on why Best Buy should accept bitcoins and/or why you would shop at Best Buy more if they started accepting bit coins. Thank you I recommend everyone go to the link in the OP and at least "Kudos" the thread (votes it up).

Today, during our #CES Blitzkrieg, FeedZeBirds surpassed the 7,000,000 all-time feedings mark. In marketing terms, this means over 7m exposures have been completed through this marketing platform. Over 300 Bitcoins have been paid out to retweeters since we launched in November, and just today 700,000 feedings occurred, the strongest day ever! We still have one more day of the #CES Blitzkrieg, see details here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=57648.0Do what you can to help promote Bit-pay on the floor of CES! Over 150,000 attendees. Thanks for the support and feedback everyone! FeedZeBirds.com
