1041  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [GUIDE] Bitcoin - A Guide For Beginners (FREE eBook) on: October 18, 2019, 05:48:42 AM
I just downloaded the ebook and skimmed through few pages. The book has a lot of errors like "Bitcoin is anonymous", "Bitcoin address is a 32-character string comprised of 0's and 1's.. Between 33/34 character long." etc.

I think you should have done a bit more of a research before publishing this book.

BTW, Bitcoin is not anonymous but pseudonymous. Bitcoin address contains 27-34 alphanumeric characters.
1042  Other / Meta / Re: chopper membership possible? on: October 17, 2019, 05:53:54 PM
Chopper is a new one to add to the list of mispronounced ranks. My favourite is still Cupper Member.

I thought you were kidding like the others. But, can we know how to get a Chopper or Cupper Member under our names  Shocked I am just curious and some members like iasenko will be willing to buy them

BTW if there is a chopper membership i would like to buy one. I'll take a Pic of my chopper if it is required to join Smiley *vroom vroom*

Edit1: Looks like you got other interesting names too
http://archive.is/9sG7Q - Lamborghini Member
http://archive.is/0pN0w - Gold Member

Ok never mind. Got the answer. Sorry for bumping this post  Sad
"Gold member" I believe represents a custom title that he wrote himself, he could edit it to anything he wants. I don't think I could consider the two coins as a bug because It was meant for newbies so It made sense to have two only.

1044  Local / India / Re: What's you view on the court case ongoing in Supreme Court-Positive or Negative? on: October 16, 2019, 04:51:58 AM
^ Yeah the adjournment of the crypto case has become a common thing  :[ But I don't think that the Govt will impose outright ban on Crypto. I believe that they'll most probably comply with the guidelines set by the Financial Action Task Force(FATF) of the G20 nations. Further I'm sure that FATF will have a positive stance towards Crypto, considering that Japan is Crypto friendly.

"In Semi-finals and Finals, there is one change to the Super Over regulation in keeping with the basic principle of scoring more runs than the opponent to win, the Super Over will be repeated until one team has more runs than the other," the ICC stated in a release on Monday (October 14).
Quote
"Following on from a recommendation from the ICC Cricket Committee, the Chief Executives' Committee agreed that the use of the Super Over as a way to decide results at ICC events will be retained. Both the Cricket Committee and CEC agreed it was an exciting and engaging conclusion to the game and will remain in place covering all games at both ODI and T20I World Cups," the release further added.

^ I think this is good news, judging a winner by boundary count was never good.

1048  Local / India / Re: Ideas and Thoughts for celebrating 10th Bitcointalk Anniversary in Indian board on: October 14, 2019, 05:19:19 AM
Your idea seems good. Since I'm not a partying type and not good at planning celebrations, I am sorry that I can't come up with any suggestions for the anniversary celebrations. I am just posting this so that others who are good at this should come forward with their ideas/suggestions.

Its been almost 4 days since OP made this post. I think everyone should atleast gives their views on what they think about it, even if you don't have any ideas. Whether you like it or not, doesn't matter, just share your thoughts.
1049  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Post 👏 Review 👏 (Be Better, Beginner!) on: October 14, 2019, 03:57:18 AM
@billgator Thanks a lot for the feedback, though I would have preferred it earlier Tongue  The topic I made on Libra might have a few sentences (in Libra Reserve, Blockchain, Association and Founding Members) copied from the Libra Whitepaper because I couldn't find a better way to put it. That's why I added this line
Quote
In this post, I’ll be sharing my views, information from several sources that I have read and points from the Libra Whitepaper and Website.

Do you think I need to do change it in any way? If so, do tell (I'm not a native English speaker)

But the review part (Good, Bad, Ugly) is all my thoughts in my own words. So I don't consider it to be palagirized. It took me around 2-3 days of research and 1 day for compiling the post. I read the complete whitepaper and read a whole lot of articles to gather the information. So when I couldn't find any interaction in the thread, I felt kind of demotivated at first. And like you said most people here are more interested in generalised topics rather than informative one. So you think that I have improved from my past?

Since this is another thread and with the same goal. I have a question to ask. What are the ranks that are eligible to join or participate in this one?. I did check your previous thread and there are different participants with different ranks that are rewarded but I wonder if it is the same in this one. I'll try my luck and here's the link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5171021.0  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5134015.0.
I haven't seen any thread offering feedbacks on your posts. I have seen several merit giveaway threads, but thats is not the case here.
Since OP didn't post any eligibility criteria regarding ranks, I believe everyone are welcome. There are the basics mentioned

Quote
Let's get the basics down -

  • I will only review posts that have been created (and last edited) before this thread's creation: August 24, at 08:50:20 AM EST
  • No Discussion of Merit
1050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 13, 2019, 06:20:55 PM
Well, when you are winning then you do not feel the tiredness, or do you ?
Agree  Wink

And poor South Africa lost again as expected :-P
I think they need to play few Test against Pakistan to build up some confidence :-D
What do you think everyone?

Yeah its been a long losing streak for SA and facing Pak or WI might build up their confidence to some extent ;p But the ICC schedule shows that they are going to face England and Australia in their home after this test series. With the home advantage, if they manage to post a win, it will definitely boost their confidence.
1051  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't become Bounty Hunter! on: October 13, 2019, 07:48:48 AM
No matter how good you are in choosing the best bounty, you will eventually fail. Why not to try to find some alternatives? Such as offering some help in return of bitcoin and other worthy cryptos. Try my method, I have a skill in editing media, fixing computer and sharing knowledge, what I am doing is to join weekly campaign that pays in bitcoin, design for graphics in return of bitcoin, and troubleshooting problems in relation to computer remotely in return for bitcoin.

You might be right about joining campaigns that pay in bitcoin is better than campaigns offering some shitty tokens. But not everyone is lucky as you being a senior member when the merit system was introduced. Some members who joined the forum late have to post quality content to earn 10+ merits to join campaigns offering bitcoin. Nowadays entering a signature campaign without earning some merits is hard except for the recent Yobit & Cryptotalk Campaigns.

And not everyone has special skills like editing, designing etc to earn online. So yeah joining bounties offering tokens will be the next choice for those desperate to earn some money online.

Edit: Looks like you too have joined campaigns for tokens . Dont preach against what you are doing.
1052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 13, 2019, 07:17:14 AM
-snipped-
the Indian team has already won this one which is why I don't understand why you feel that the lower order South African can make some sort of difference here.

I believe, Sithara is concerned not about India winning the match, but about the SA tail-enders dragging the match. Almost everyone wants the Indians to finish the match as early as possible since the result is already clear rather than dragging it for too long.
1053  Local / India / Re: What's you view on the court case ongoing in Supreme Court-Positive or Negative? on: October 13, 2019, 06:50:16 AM
Speaking from experience. Getting on the monthly causelist does not mean it'll def. be heard. It could be pushed down again. Seeing how little hype there is during these dates, I think it might not get covered either. Let's see what happens on Tuesday.

Out here in Calcutta, this date comes under the annual vacation dates. Not sure whats the case there...

I have my fair share of experience in civil court proceedings as well Wink I didn't mean that it's listed as 1st in the monthly causelist. Instead, it will be listed on top of the board which means that it will be one of the first cases to be heard on a said day ie. it will be the 1st item in the daily causelist. But yeah if the Judge doesn't feel to hear the case he may postpone it. But normally if it was ordered to be listed on top of the board, the Judge is more willing to hear the case rather than adjourning it to another date.
You can check this - https://sci.gov.in/supremecourt/2018/19230/19230_2018_5_20_17303_Order_01-Oct-2019.pdf

Edit: Just checked the daily causelist - Its listed as Item No.2 in Court No.5
1054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 13, 2019, 06:00:25 AM
So no follow on......
Yeah, we won't have one.  Wink
Kohli thinks differently  Grin

Yeah. The Indian bowlers were pretty tired after bowling for a full day. Ideal situation would be to bat for a session and score about 100+ runs give them a target over 450+ runs and bowl them out in a day and 2 sessions. But as far as India is taking wickets and winning there is nothing to blame. Maybe he thought that the bowlers got enough rest over night  Cheesy
1055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 12, 2019, 11:06:16 AM
Finally, SA was allout for 275 and its end of Day 3. Maharaj and Philander did a great job taking out 2 sessions of the game. They are now trial by 326 runs. The better option would be to enforce the follow-on. But its Kohli's decision to take and we have to wait for tomorrow to know whether India is going to enforce a follow-on or not.
1056  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 12, 2019, 10:34:57 AM
Again SA will lose before reaching 250. Virat will now possibly choose to bat and put up 400-450 runs as he always does but glad that this match will have a result as the first innings is already over in 2.5 days. A follow-on would be better but Virat never chooses that.

India is at the top of the table with 160 points and till now they did not have a single loss. *happy dance Cheesy*

SA have crossed 250  Grin Maharaj and Philander are relentless, they have already batted out nearly 45+ overs and have scored over 109 runs. Most of the time, India fail to pick up the tail-enders. Looking at the current situation, I am expecting Maharaj batting through the day and to score a ton Tongue

So no follow on......
Yeah, we won't have one.  Wink
1057  Local / India / Re: What's you view on the court case ongoing in Supreme Court-Positive or Negative? on: October 12, 2019, 06:33:46 AM
Does anyone know what happened to the 25th September date? (or the 1st October date) .. Was any progress made or was it postponed? (again)

The case was listed down the order on 25th Sep and 1st Oct causelist, so the case was not heard. Now the case is listed for hearing on 15th Oct on top of the board ie. Its 1st on the causelist. So the case will definitely be heard on 15th October.
1058  Other / Meta / An user stuck at Full Member on: October 11, 2019, 05:20:19 PM
I saw that the user LUCKMCFLY has 742 activity and had received 250 merits yesterday, but his profile shows as Full Member. From what I know is that once you have 250 merits and 240 activity, you'll be promoted to Sr.Member. But in this case, he is stuck as Full Member. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Ok found what I missed  Tongue Thanks suchmoon
1059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 11, 2019, 10:32:30 AM
At jadeja's dismissal, India declared for 601 and now Umesh Yadav strikes in his 1st over removing Markaram. The score is 2/1 for South Africa. Indian team would be happy with the inclusion of Yadav for the 2nd Test as he started with a bang. Looking at the current situation, I think India won't need to bat the 2nd innings.

Edit : Umesh strikes again in his 2nd over Shocked For Elgar, indecision costed his wicket. SA 14/2
Wait did they lose another wicket... No. Bavuma safe
1060  Local / India / Re: Bithumb to launch in India - A thumb to eye for Anti-Bitcoin gang! on: October 11, 2019, 08:11:19 AM
This should be first in that a foreign exchange will try to set up an arm in India. -skipped-

This is not the first time a foreign exchange trying to set foot on the Indian market. We already have Okex strategically partnered with Bitbns. They already have an Okex India Facebook and Twitter pages and are promoting in telegram as well.

So I think there is nothing new about Bitthumb planning to move towards Indian market. But until and unless India takes a clear stance on Crypto, we can't expect much from well established exchanges moving towards India. The situation will just remain the same, IMHO.
