Could crypto have helped us achieve this much earlier? What if Bitcoin was there in 90's? Was it possible to achieve the removal of Article 370 by using crypto? (Justifying the thread on the main board by useless a baseless connection with cryptocurrency)

LoL. Looks like legendster irked a lot of members here.

this is what i see when i sign in to the account

This looks like an account lock to me, just email locked...@bitcointalk.org with your concern as instructed.

Quote from: theymos
If you get a message similar to "your account is locked"

You should be given an email address in the error message. Send an email there and you will be given further instructions.

If you are banned

Your ban message may have an email address which you can email. If not, then appeals are unlikely to be accepted.

Have we reduced ourselves to meaningless conversations just to satisfy the signature requirements? Is this what this topic is all about?

And having self-moderated threads is the new weapon in these types of stupid topics. I am sure that my reply is going to get deleted.

I dare the OP to let this stay.

You are seriously mistaken here. OP is not trying to meet his signature campaign requirements, because Posts in the Local boards will not be counted for payment as per the requirements mentioned in the Wolf.Bet Signature Campaign Page. I have quoted it for your convenience -

-skip-

WOLF.BET is starting up their signature campaign to advertise their new Dice site.
I'll be looking for a total of 40 members who are active in the gambling section to help increase their exposure.

Rules & Requirements:

  • -skip
  • Posts in Local Boards, Games & Rounds, Off-topic, Lending, Auctions, Micro Earnings, Politics & Society, Beginners & Help, Archival, Signature Campaigns threads, or Spam Mega Threads will not count.
  • -skip-

However, I too feel that the topic doesn't belong here. I would have been better if posted in Off-topic (India)
1207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] How to create your customized Bitcoin-Address (vanitygen) – step by step on: August 02, 2019, 02:13:59 PM
Thanks @1miau. I just generated this 1akh47CuQbqrPH5uD74RzGSAvQowsRRb9 (vanity address) using your guide. I didn't go for the split key method.

Code:
C:\BTC\vgen\vanitygen.exe -o C:\BTC\vgen\test.txt 1akh

I don't have much technical knowledge, so consider this as a noob question.

By using VanityGen, we are brute-forcing the desired output, right? If that's the case, if someone else uses VanityGen with the following command

Code:
C:\BTC\vgen\vanitygen.exe -k C:\BTC\vgen\test.txt 1akh

He might have a chance to get my Private keys right? Please clarify me.
1208  Local / Regional Languages (India) / Re: Tamil community on: August 02, 2019, 04:27:53 AM
I can only see other kind of of regional in Indian local board but where are the Tamil people guys?

Most are lurking around the English speaking community, as many of them (like me) don't know Tamil typing Tongue

1210  Local / Press & News from India / Re: Reserve Bank of India Denies Involvement in Draft Bill to Ban Cryptocurrencies on: July 30, 2019, 11:22:44 AM
The finance minister says the bill is well drafted and will look into it which means that everything is just going to be negative.

Though she had praised that the report of the committee was a futuristic and well-thought-out report, she hasn't even looked into it. I hope she never looks into it, atleast not until FAFT proposes something. Actually, this is what she said in the interview -

Quote
The report on cryptocurrency that recommends a sovereign digital currency and stringent punishment and fines for private digital currency has just come out. When are you proposing to take the legislation to Cabinet?
I had the presentation done before me. The committee has done extensive work on it. Inputs that have come in; if I compare several other countries where this kind of study has been done on cryptocurrencies, we have done very well.
They have gone much ahead of all other countries that have thought about it. It’s a very futuristic and well-thought-out report. I have not spent time on it after the presentation. Of course, we will look into it soon and come back with a position. That was also reported in court as there is a case going on.

today someone said they received a notice from Income tax department too.

Yeah, Indiabits shared a photo of it in their telegram channel. The notice is really absurd to read. This is what it looks like -

Thats what I said because they even don't care about ban and even government officials keep using the banned products in the previous bans.

Oh ok. I might have misinterpreted the contexts.

A new article has been shared by Indiabits regarding the recent interview of Tmt. Nirmala Sitaraman

1212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Maximum bet amount on single bet! on: July 30, 2019, 07:19:59 AM
My max bet would be 0.04096000BTC in 2x when the price was around 10000$ in 2017. Luckily, I won and the profit was 1000 sats Grin. Yeah, you guessed it right, it was the result of a martingale strategy losing 12 times in a row. If you see, I betted around 0.08BTC for gaining 1000 sats. After this incident, I never used the martingale strategy. Now, I don't have a specific strategy

I believe because I was born here. I know how shit works here.

Porn, Books, Movies, Human beings, ideologies, and even religion .. well religion chants to be accurate - all were banned here. Even innocent TV ads.. remember Oye Bubbli?

With that said. None of the bans are strictly enforced. And I sternly believe that would apply to cryptos as well.

Hahaha ofcourse as a citizen I can also understand how their ban will works. Grin

I am also an Indian citizen, but I don't think they will ban crypto. Not this time. And even if they ban it, I really don't care about it anymore.
1215  Local / India / Re: What can we do? on: July 27, 2019, 02:06:38 PM
I still don't understand why you guys firmly believe that India is going to ban cryptocurrencies  Huh Just because some draft Bill to ban cryptocurrencies is released, doesn't mean that everything has ended. Actually there is still a long way to go for the draft Bill to become an Act.
Moreover, the Committee head, Subash Chandra Garg is no longer the Finance Secretary of India. Based on the recent news, he has been posted to Power Dept and will retire within 3 months on VRS.
Give some time for the Government to decide. They have already committed to the standards to be fixed by FATF and most probably will not enforce anything in the meantime.
So, let's hope for a positive outcome from the FATF.
1216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Libra – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly on: July 25, 2019, 09:00:01 AM
@eternalgloom Thanks for the merits(my first)

I see a lot of hate towards Libra in this forum and I understand the reasons behind it. So, let's compare Libra and Bitcoin and see which is better.

+/-LibraBitcoin+/-
-1More  of a centralised ecosystem. Validators being big corporatesDecentalized ecosystem. Anyone with the right tools can validate.+1
-1Permissioned networkPermissionless Network+1
0Stable coin pegged to a basket of currenciesStore Value - Digital Gold. (Other Cryptos will be pegged to BTC in future)+1
+1Will trigger mass adoption of CryptoIf Libra triggers mass adoption, Bitcoin is the one that’s going to benefit.+1
-1Being a stable coin, it is not a investment material. Best to invest and HODL+1
-1Prone to inflationNot prone to inflation, because of the limited supply+1
+1Might become a major cross border Gobal Payment System Can be used for payment+1
-1Might not even launch as promised, considering the recent Libra hearingsWorking as it is meant to be.+1
-1Facebook leading the Libra Association till its launch and acting as a validatorPrivacy and security assured+1
-1Minimum investment to earn from Libra is $10 MillionNo minimum investment+1
-5 +10

So clearly, Bitcoin is the winner and we can see why most hate Libra.

Feel free to comment your thoughts on the table.
1217  Local / India / Re: Lets assume the worst. What's next? on: July 24, 2019, 10:06:04 AM
I don't think the bill will be passed anytime soon for the reasons mentioned here

However, if by chance the bill gets passed on both Houses. I can't exile from the country to another as my crypto holdings aren't huge and I'm not in a position to do so. I'll stay in India, but..
  • I'll lie to my friends and relatives, that I sold every last bit of Crypto I held in loss and I'll bare with the "See, I told you so " advice.
  • I'll hold most of my Crypto and will trade some in DEXs
  • I'll keep myself and my children (if born after marriage  Tongue) updated on Crypto related stuff.
  • I'll hope for Govt to come with a good Crypto Regulation. Until then I hold and wait.
  • I'll make sure that my Crypto holdings get passed on to my next generation without the Govt knowing

1218  Local / India / Re: What can we do? on: July 24, 2019, 08:58:32 AM
First of all, this report is dated 28 Feb 2019. Many things have happened in the meantime like the G20 summit.

Quote
At the conclusion of the summit, the leaders of the G20 countries jointly declared their commitment to applying the crypto standards set by the Financial Action Task Force. India’s new finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, also joined other G20 finance ministers to declare the same commitment.

Quote
In the declaration, the G20 leaders state that cryptocurrencies do not currently constitute a threat to monetary stability, and that technological innovation can deliver significant benefit to the economy.
Source: https://cointelegraph.com/news/g20-leaders-reaffirm-position-on-cryptocurrencies-in-statement

This clearly shows that India will agree to the decision taken by the FATF and not the report to ban cryptocurrencies.

Last week, a Chinese Court has recognised Bitcoin as a virtual property with value. What more you need from a country like China? When a country like China recognise Bitcoin as a virtual property, all India needs is a little persuasion and time.
Source: https://twitter.com/DoveyWan/status/1151944343999008768?s=19

Furthermore, India takes a lot of time before rolling out a bill. For example take the GST, it took over 17 yrs to come into force.
Source - https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/economy/gsts-17year-timeline/article9743284.ece

And the court hearings regarding the RBI ban, has been regularly postponed. And I don't think of a judgement anytime soon not until 2020.

So we have a lot of time to fill our bags. Don't worry about the jail term they can't arrest you if they can't prove that you are holding crypto. So, I would advise not to FUD, just ignore the law makers for now until a proper regulation comes into force.
1219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Libra – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly on: July 22, 2019, 02:00:47 PM
@princerepon - Thanks for the kind words. I'll try to keep this post updated with latest updates on Libra.

-skip-
The only thing that I think is this with your article. Bitcoin> Libra > PayPal> FIAT or Bitcoin> Libra > FIAT> Paypal.

But I think Bitcoin is the only important point here. There is nothing that I can compare here with BTC.

I'm not trying to say that Libra is superior than Bitcoin in any way through this post. Believe me, I am not a fan of Libra either and I definitely don't want Facebook to have my identity and financial data. I just believe that Libra has helped Bitcoin in some ways. Since, I didn't find a detailed thread on Libra here, I thought of sharing the info I learned from several sources.
1220  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit on: July 21, 2019, 02:49:17 PM
Mate member like you should work and make quality post in the forum because our merit is totally about our quality of post. This forum is the best place ever so don’t lose the opportunity and when you get in choose good topic to show your ability of writing. Making quality post is the most important thing buying merit is quite illegal.

I don't think buying merit is illegal. If its illegal, the posts created for selling and buying merits should have been deleted and the persons indulged in such activities should have been banned. However, that's not the case here. The merit abusers are just given a negative trust. Which means that it's not illegal but it's just not entertained.
