441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Earning enough with Bitcoin without Job ? on: October 07, 2017, 06:46:44 AM
I was just wondering that is it possible to earn steady income without going 8-5 hours regular office job.. I mean you got some bitcoin in your wallet .. are you the enough for living ?

another option is to regularly working on Bitcoin related trading/activites .. that earn you enough amt of monthly income ..

what's your opinion

Note: this is not for poor fellow who just discovered bitcoin or altcoins
That won't be enough I think. We all know that Bitcoin is volatile so the profit will not always be high since its market value changes from time to time such that there'll be times that its value will increase and there'll be times that it will fall. A decent job will provide a stable income which is necessary. Doing both of it will lead to highly stable income , and that would be enough for a living.

Depends on your personal situation, standard of living, and the economy you live in. No one will be able to survice off of sig camps and faucets unless you invest a significant amount of time. therefore, you will need a monetizable skill that you can use to "mine" btc. unless you are brilliant and have something very unique to offer, you will basically spend at least 5 of the * hours you would have spent working outside the house, working in the home  Wink

you cant escape the grind, but you can make it more efficient.
but i will say, if you look hard enough, you will find a market for most skills in this sphere. a global market means a demand for many different work products; take advantage of that.
442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin survive? on: October 07, 2017, 06:36:04 AM
It can, for a while at least, but not like this.

First off, the brand is horrible. For something with so much promise for positive change; the only media hits we make are about drugs, violence or some other form of criminality. Adoption, while better is still astronomically low. Things like this make people not care enough to research bitcoin.

We havent scaled. We are struggling at times with the current state of the network, if we get any more peeps or a popular bitcoin service that doesnt use off chain transactions, we are fucked. the network wasnt meant for this, at least at this point. if we were farther down the road, mining would be cheaper because we would have been forced to improve it. a lot of the problems we are facing today, in my opinion, is because we are moving ahead of ourselves.

if we dont fix these issues (there are more), then we will be replaced by one of the many, many other options available Wink
443  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Is Bitcoin's Value So Volatile? on: October 07, 2017, 06:20:43 AM
Its volatile because there is no consensus on how to prie a bitcoin. And the fact that half the folks that have traded bitcoin, absolutely suck at it Cheesy its more the investor maturity however, people react in this space on the slightest news. this lack of investor education is also evident by the amount of scams that are able to proliferate here.

for reasons different that what have already been expoused in this thread; regulation will fix this. but I dont think folks will ike the "fix" (a lower, more stable price).
444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I did it! Traveling with Bitcoin and $100 only on: October 07, 2017, 05:29:01 AM
Man, I couldnt get to the next state with 100 bucks in any currency, LOL.

But seriously, this is one of the hidden strengths of bitcoin; being able to travel with your wealth, and being able to convert your wealth to local currency and back again, without having to make foreign currencies cross borders (which can be illegal if you are carrying too much). problem is actually using the local exchange; until adoption is better, you cant assure everywhere you go will have an easily accessible exchange. and the cards that use bitcoin as a balance are usually tied to a certain market; you would incur international transaction fees (but this would be convenient, if the card worked).

best strategy is to already have a bitcoin debit card for the locale you intend to visit Wink you can always just take the unused funds off the card when you are finished.
445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A night out pitching bitcoin. (story and thoughts) on: October 07, 2017, 05:03:33 AM
Interesting that you would do this.  I'm curious as to what your motivation is.  I view bitcoin more as an investment, an asset, and less so as a revolutionary currency.   I wouldn't try to proselytize as if bitcoin was a religion or something.   Frankly, the bitcoin supporters are numerous enough to have pushed the price up to $4300, and that's good enough for me.

You should have taken a video.  I'm not disparaging you for doing it, and it would have been nice to see your efforts and people's reactions.  Props to you.

The gender breakdown doesn't surprise me.  You've seen what this forum is like--95% male at least.

Dude, seriously, if you do this again, you really should generate media from this (pictures, video). Agree with Pharm, no way in hell you would catch me doing this (im an ass) although I respect your gangster for putting up the effort, you are a better man than me in this. If you get preachy (cold sales techniques) you will scare/turn off/make suspicious the majority of the people you encounter. You will go so much father preaching the gospel to your close friends and family; they will take your investment pitch (because that is what you are making, essentially, to strangers) as sincere Wink

If you do make pictures, Reddit it, you may be rewarded for your efforts. If a guy can hold up a sign and make the value of my car in donations, then dammit, you should glean some kind of value from this, LOL.
446  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: 7 People arrested for Bitcoin Trading on: October 07, 2017, 04:57:57 AM
It's the latest in development from the country of Nepal which started nabbing bitcoin traders for fraud. Can be sentenced to upto 3 years in prison.

http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/news/2017-10-06/7-nabbed-for-running-bitcoin-exchange-business.html

First case of bitcoin related arrest in the country.

This is more of the same, the sudden and all encompassing wave of regulation for crypto that seems to be sweeping the globe.

i have the feeling that these dudes werent committing fraud per se; i think that the government is considering cryptos in general "fraudulent", and these guys are criminally complicit by hosting an exchange. im too lazy to look up the actual letter of the law (i have a feeling its not in English  Grin ) but I dont see how normal operation of an exchange (if they are observing whatever general financial/AML/KYC rules are in place) would get you arrested suddenly like this.

it seems that nowadays, if you are going to conduct a serious/legitimate crypto business, you would do best to consult the government in your locale first Wink
447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A night out pitching bitcoin. (story and thoughts) on: October 07, 2017, 04:16:59 AM
Good effort here, but you could be a bit more efficient with the targets.

consider, your target demographic, according to current adoption in the States, would be age 16-39 white males with an above average technological familiarity. family venue? probably not full of these. you might want to try a technology convention, a comic con, something that would attract the young male techophile. you may not want to drive adoption in this demographic, but time has shown this is the demographic that is most willing to adopt.

you are right about the booth. solicitations are more authoritative when the solicited approaches the solicitor; hence you want to catch the eye with a display, really attention grabbing sign, or something else wacky or interesting that will have people actually approach you and request information. you could dress up like a giant banana, it doesnt matter. the goal is capturing the audiences attention, so you can present your information.

448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 8 Rules of Bitcoin Club on: October 07, 2017, 04:09:57 AM
Rule #3 will get you fucked up, LOL.

You might want to sell if you see a dip coming, at least try to speculate against an oncoming loss of profit if you can see it. bitcoin has priced itself damned near out of the affordable investment place. seeing as how it isnt so nifty to buy bitcoin anymore, you are only going to accumulate if you earn, or speculate. i wouldnt suggest going into it like a pro trader if you dont know what you are doing. but at least try, or relegate yourself to the fact that while your fiat value may grow, your coins will get lonely and stagnate with no company Smiley

let them play Wink
449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHY OWNER IS HIDING on: October 07, 2017, 04:01:13 AM
Actually, I've been thinking about this for a long time now. Facts have it that Bitcoin was created by own Satoshi Nakamoto or so and since he did that he has gone underground and has been hidden. Now I'm wondering, I made an invention that is now worth so much money in the world and am still hiding, what could have been the reasons for his action??

Would you admit to being one of the richer people in the world?

If Satoshi is even a person, and not a ideological construct that a group of people was using to hide their identities with, why would he/it have a reason to present himself at the moment? the foundation might appreciate his input (ill use a he for brevity) but it is its own thing now; I dont think they would bow down and listen to his input just because he was the founder. like a corp, the ownership has passed along. this is so far from what was intended, I dont think he would really appreciate what we have evolved into. and im talking about the bitcoin, as well as the entire crypto ecosphere.

450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can bitcoin wallet be hacked by hackers? on: October 07, 2017, 03:53:01 AM
Probably Yes. To hack your wallet they need high computational power,it may not be possible but they can achieve it by phishing methods. You need to be careful in this terms. It is in your hands if your wallet could be hacked or not. Create multi signature wallets with 2FA implemented in it.And don't keep all your money in one wallet.Have some 2-3 wallets.

Can you breathe air?

Hell to the yes. If you mean by breaking the encryption on your wallet via brute force, fuck to the no. bitcoin wallets never get compromised because someone broke the encryption; they get compromised because the system the wallet resides on is insecure. you are only as strong as your weakest link, security wise. 2fa blah blah good practice blah blah hardware wallets.
it gets said over and over, but no one believes they will get hacked, until they get hacked.

so again:
"you are only as strong as your weakest link, security wise"
451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC for taxi on: October 07, 2017, 03:47:05 AM
on thinking about it, a token would be the best solution for this. it wouldnt be a terrible expectation for riders to have purchased the token already if the are expecting to use the service. they could load the tokens in a wallet; the wallet could tell the driver how far they can go on the token balance they have.

tokens would lock for the duration of the ride; and the amount could be debited from the balance automatically when the door opens, after the user approves the transaction (and possible leaves a tip). this should all be off chain, and this would look best on the ethereum network, given the functionality/speed/cost.

solves the confirmation delay Smiley if you did this with tokens on the bitcoin network, you would rage throw your phone out of the taxi window Wink
452  Bitcoin / Legal / Utility Tokens: Avoiding The Long Arms Of The SEC on: October 07, 2017, 03:42:23 AM
So with the SEC actually going after individual projects, it seems that the only way to pass the Howey test and still offer something that people actually want to buy is by offering a utility token. Not a promise of profit; its more of a purchase than an investment.

You are essentially buying brand credits for whatever functions that platform provides. If the token is to increase in value, it would due to market speculation on the "scrip", not because of on increase of valuation in the underlying asset (the issuing company). Is this truly a work around? fundamentally, the price is tied to the valuation of the brand, even if the share doesnt represent equity.

its like buying walmart store cards in a walmart ico  Grin
453  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin won't live to see the next 10 years on: October 07, 2017, 03:31:38 AM
Its not so much the forks as the fact that bitcoin will most likely be obsolete by then. we have already had amazing innovation with other coins; updating bitcoin to try to accomodate all the new features seems like a diversion from the original vision. the forks are doing alot to harm the brand/diminish confidence, however. the fact that these forks are essentially political just adds insult to injury.

just like we no longer use typewriters as a majority, despite how much they have improved, so will we treat bitcoin Wink

Asset Token Valuation: 1 Asset Token (AST) = 1 Dollar (USD) are u serious  Roll Eyes

Quite serious Smiley The quality of partnership associated with this project is amazing, imo. This project is unique in that there is no risk in purchasing these tokens (there is a refund contract; you can send the tokens back and get what you paid for them). Thats absolutely new in this space (and I have been in this space for some years now, professionally).

Check out the refund function here and take a look at the contract, its pretty novel:

A dollar valuation seems conservative, when they get rolling at full clip  Wink
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: please help. i sent TETHER to BTC T_T on: October 06, 2017, 03:12:39 AM
Is BitMex an exchange? You can get it back if BitMex is willing to help you, because if they have control over their deposit address private keys, they can recover those tokens.

Contact them, explain the situation and pray for them to help you.

LOL, I see the ChipMixer team is on the case. Yeah, this happened to me lately, in my advanced wisdom I sent ETH to an ETH token deposit address. You are basically at the mercy of the exchange with stuff like this; be polite, but don't be too persistent. this will most likely take a while, as they put up a warning against this on every exchange I have ever used.

Some  takeways:

Always double check that addy.
Turn off autocomplete
Always double check that addy!  Cheesy Wink

457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [Bounty][ICO][AST] Asset Token ERC20 Signature Campaign on: October 06, 2017, 02:21:04 AM
Translators have been contacted. As per one participants concern, if the translation folks would prefer a stake based system for rewards, please state your case to me via pm, I am open if enough translators want this. I am simply a conduit for the funds; I dont not have an opinion as the allocations would come out quite similar (less popular languages would suffer essentially, as we wouldnt need as many services from you).

Thank you in advance for your contribution  Grin, contact me with any questions.
458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The upcoming fork November 2017 (Bitcoin gold)? on: October 05, 2017, 09:01:24 PM
Do you think the fork will be a good thing?

Hell to the no. People might get excited because they get a free alt airdrop, but hut like this is absolutely runing the trust for the community, from the outside. bitcoin is already nebolous enough, having to explain all these forks is just going to turn lay people of of bitcoin before they get started.

we cant settle every disagreement we have in the ecosystem by making a fork. we are going to have to sit down and have real political consensus, or keep dividing the community needlessly for what boils down to cashgrabs, icos that require mining power rather than eth or btc.

And can we at least make up a novel name? Gold? Really?
459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Kill The Income Tax on: October 05, 2017, 08:56:07 PM
if you mean "kill" by largely allowing people to avoid paying taxes, you are sadly mistaken. first off, the bitcoin blockchain is clearly visible to everyone, including law enforcement. they will not stand idlly by and watch billions of untaxed dollars transact without getting their cut. it would be pretty easy to simply outlaw the remission of bitcoin; that would solve the problem pretty much over night, LOL. essentially, the government has too much control of the financial affairs of citizens to allow bitcoin to deny them tax basis. they will regulate it to dust before this happens Wink
460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's make ‘Buy Bitcoin’ Sign Appears Everywhere! on: October 05, 2017, 08:36:45 PM
Its not so much that people dont know about bitcoin and alts now; its that they have no idea how to interact with the market/purchase coins. bitcoin isnt hard (well, kinda LOL), its moreso that obtaining bitcoin is hard. you need a bank account for the most part, or at least access to a bank. not too many people on localbitcoins that actually accept cash at the market rate, there is usually a premium attached.

you would do better putting up a "learn more about bitcoin" sign, education will get us more adoption than a blind cry to purchase.
