I'm not sure I understand your definition of market cap. Who would decide future price expectation? Lost coins per year? Expected innovation? Future userbase? Those are all completely speculative and unknowable, and not comparable across coins. As an experiment, today I asked 10 lead devs these questions. Guess what? Every one said they expect higher prices, more users, etc.  It's like asking a mother if her child is beautiful--there's no real objectivity to that. This is why I think miner's perspective is very important, as they tend to be loyal to profit over project. Success of BBP isn't just number of orphans--they coin has to appreciate in value to attract investors.

Speaking of losing coins, is there anything that can be done to improve wallet security of BBP? As a miner, I usually keep my wallets cold or at least on a dedicated wallet pc that doesn't mine.  With BBP, I'm having to leave the wallet open, and that same wallet.dat is living on multiple net-connected machines, which doesn't seem optimal for security. I know BBP isn't alone in this mine-by-wallet model, but having just one wallet.dat compromised takes down all my wallets. Any advice, or chance of a paper wallet?

Fair assessment on valuation, but the current market seems to think most coins are worthless (or at least less than they are at today).

There is a paper wallet generator if you want, but that only addresses HODL, not active wallets.  I agree it would be nice to have a "safe haven" so to speak.

With the switch to POG, in theory the required operating expenses of the wallet will be reduced,  so cold storage would become more viable.

For POG and testnet its very early in the process,  lets give it some time.

I we have had a lot of time to get up to speed w/ PODC,  so far POG seems to be plug and play (with a wait .. but that's not a bad thing)

If it is made clear how long to wait, this could help things as well

Looking at connected clients it seems a lot more is sent than received, but again this is chain data.   Passing it along to other nodes

But where is it being passed along to? If all our wallets are sending 99%, someone out there has to be receiving. My wallet receives about 50MB for every GB sent. The ratio just seems off.

Good question, it generally would be to any new clients, or clients that are out of sync.

If you look at the peers tab under tools,  it will tell you specifically the data sent/received for active clients.

If someone deletes their chaindata and resyncs,  or starts a wallet thats been offline.. or new users jump on they would all cause that send value to jump.

My wallet is pushing out easily a Gig of data per day, and is only receiving a small fraction of that.

Minersleep = 500 on purepool. Upnp disabled at the router and no ports forwarded.

Pool mining takes sends a lot more data
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay✟CPU✟Governance✟Help Orphans✟PODC Cancer Mining✟Deflationary✟Masternodes on: December 08, 2018, 08:12:18 PM
For few days running more than 10 GB of data send and received by wallet. I can make a 7 days test and past here the exact numbers.

I'lll look at my wallets and compare.

Overall it's because we require full chain for each node (and each node sends/receives to each other).

My main wallet has been up 7 days and sent 9gb  received 450mb

Looking at connected clients it seems a lot more is sent than received, but again this is chain data.   Passing it along to other nodes

Rob:  Is there a way to limit this?
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay✟CPU✟Governance✟Help Orphans✟PODC Cancer Mining✟Deflationary✟Masternodes on: December 08, 2018, 04:52:27 PM
Im happy that your arogancy is back. Thank you.

Just one thing. Start network meter and start wallet. You will see the real traffic (not you Rob). With gen=0 and genproclimit=0.

Please calm down... Lets all play nice

Yes you start wallet with gen = 0, the data being sent is blockchain data..

This would be transactions, and blocks sent to/from your client.

ANY coin would have the same, unless they are using some 3rd party to store the chain data.

if i understood it, then 100% cpu mining i needed only if you want reward for finding blocks. in other cases, you just need tithe something and then waiting in idle for reward (or very very low cpu set to mining as now with gen=1)

My question is mainly if the running wallet will permanently downloading and sending huge amount of data as it is now with running wallet.

Yes it will be connected, downloading blockchain data.  You already had at least 1 doing this previously.

As far as the CPU you don't need the 100% unless you really want to do POW (pobh) as well.

im tried setup POG=horrible  Grin Grin

PODC is easy

PODC is easy because you have learned,   testnet POG is just starting, please give it a bit of time before judging.

We need to take a step back,  and not antagonize each other...

The fact is the Jews were commanded to give 10%,  but in practice gave more like 30-40% (helping serve others outside of the church requirement).

I think arguing the semantics is getting us nowhere,   we could settle on a more neutral term "offering" ?   but it doesn't change the facts.

We live in a world that is offended by everything, lets not bring this to God's kingdom..

#1 - Please put a github issue in; all that is wrong is the wallet isn't filtering out old proposals (even though we have code in there to do that, its not using the latest getgovernanceinfo blockheight for the filter).

#2 - In the mean time as a workaround, take a look at the Date Column on the top of the screen and only view proposals > Dec 1 2018

filtering of columns doesnt working.......why i have to post to github: i posted few problems, never fixed it

We need you to enter an issue on github so it doesn't get lost in this thread.

When it comes to dev time,  would you rather have people fixing issues identified or searching for them here?

Do we really need a GitHub? Some of the ones I put in get ignored or closed. Proposal list has been like this since release. Okay you put scrolling window. Why is proposal list based on pool.biblepay.org and not actual block chain data? Not a good look when the qt wallet has half finished UI screens and pog v2 is going to be worked on.

The proposal list is pulling from the client (or it would be an easy update to remove/filter)

Yes we need a github,   consider the issues there a ticket system.  Several things have been fixed, but if it's not reported some place where it wont get lost,  then don't expect it to get fixed.

any problem around block 87315? it takes eternity... 2hrs to jump to next block

My guess is a ramp-up of difficulty,  our POW hashrate is much higher than its been.

Looks like we had a 12k difficulty block, that took 98mins to mine.

Mikä on rukouksen nimi, jossa sanotaan "Taivaallinen isämme pyhitetty olkoon nimesi"?

What is the name of prayer that says "Our Heavenly Father is Sanctified by Your Name"?

Lord's Prayer?

Minkä nimisessä salmissa sanotaan "Hän johdatti minua nimessään oikeuden tiellä"?

In what name is the word "He led me in the name of the right path"?

Good Sheperd? Jesus?

The questions aren't very good captcha questions. You assume our visitors will be Finnish Christians?

Maybe you missed my point a bit. Or I do not understand your meaning.
I think that asking cultural related captcha questions is not the best idea.

Give me a day or two i'll update the registration to something more user friendly.

The questions served their purpose, (reducing spammers) but I want real users to be able to sign up.

By the way I tried to vote on forum, but I needed to register and I could not pass these pretty simple questions. As I did bot know the answers by heart.
How about you? Could you answer these

Mikä on rukouksen nimi, jossa sanotaan "Taivaallinen isämme pyhitetty olkoon nimesi"?

Minkä nimisessä salmissa sanotaan "Hän johdatti minua nimessään oikeuden tiellä"?

I'll look at an alternative to the questions...  I don't even know what language that is! lol thanks for the feedback

They say you help some people but they redirect you to a site who use your system for them (https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/home.php).
You can not control anythink.
My PC work to many projects and I do not receive any point!!Beware my friend.

Please before you call us a scam, ask for help.

Post your CPID,  we are here to help.

Sorry, I think maybe TheSnat is busy today, and I was under the impression this was already posted:

Please take some time to evaluate POG2 and vote:

BBP Pool:

https://www.bbppool.com/

I believe this is our method for brand new users who have no UTXO stake.

i told this few days ago that this is way for new users, but registration is closed now
we need this kind of pool owned by us

You could join GRCPOOL at the moment as well.. since after the team requirement lifted they added BBP to their mining.

The problem I see is the stake required to operate such a pool...

Trust Level & POOM Concept,  please provide your feedback!

https://forum.biblepay.org/index.php?topic=325.0

what is it? dont understand again

It's asking about the "Proof Of Orphan Mining" concept, and "trust", what you would be comfortable doing to participate.

Hello guys, just 2 quick questions.

1. The windows wallet (1161) constantly keeps itself unlocked after performing PODC updates. That somehow worries me a bit, I think this was an issue a couple of weeks (or months) ago and already had been fixed, but now it's back.

2. Is explorer.biblepay.org our current (only working) explorer? Because at least for my addresses it shows a lot of wrong transactions and completely wrong overall stats (total sent/received, current balance). For example my PODC address (BNetxsZfjyNfW73Kvsh5AYLHENpEHcR3qh) is shown to have a current balance of 8 million BBP (I never had anything close to this sum). The total sent/received is in the range of 2 billion BBP (Huh). At least this could perhaps be explained by the PODC updates, although those do not show in the explorer.

https://biblepay.ovh/
https://explorer.biblepay-central.org/ (though the accuracy is suspect)

So Gridcoin as a team is no more blacklisted right ? We can get bbp and Gdc all together ?

Yup. GRCpool added 10% RAC to Team RAC, so the blacklist is definitely gone. I saw a huge drop in daily PoDC payment.

200k RAC = 4M BBP. I don't know the daily figures, but I wouldn't surprised to see at least 10M BBP staked due the new participation by GRCPOOL.

They have ~11m bbp per cpid * 3 cpid's..
