I wish the best for you and Tmike in your new roles, I hope and trust this change works out for the good of the community.

I'm posting your main forum post below for reader convenience.

Thanks!

I want to clarify, we're not looking to become dictators,   but to better relate with the community... If you see something other than this feel free to PM us Smiley

Guys take a look a the recent update for the community.. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2388064.msg47302933#msg47302933

Rob has opened his hands quite a bit with this, and I would appreciate your support in keeping the community going..

For the time being we can leave this thread open,   I would ask that if you have a post deleted and you do not see a public comment on why from tmike or myself to let one/both of us know.

I will ask one thing,   lets keep Gridcoin speculations off the main thread,  until/unless Rob says there is a link publicly.

This could be a turning point for the community if everyone allows it to be.

ANNOUNCEMENT:  Important update for the BiblePay Community:

Change is important, change can and will change your life!   Welcome to some new changes.

As Rob posted a few days back,  he is looking for someone to "Take Control" of community and offload some of the workload from him.
This is a win for decentralization, and makes the core team larger while offloading some of workload from the existing folks.

With this in mind, tmike and I are going to be sharing the burden of this position, and will look for others that can aid us in this process.

* Social media accounts are being split up for ownership, and control will be shared among several core users,  this helps to limit the "single man" liability.
* Jaap now has primary primary control over Reddit, and maintains the Telegram
* I now have access the the main biblepay twitter account, and will help manage the team that can post tweets on our behalf.
* Biblepay Official forums will be transitioned from Rob to a new host, and maintained by tmike and myself.  Once this is completed we will have some guidelines for having better discussions over there, and will allow for some more freedom than this ANN thread, as well as some more focused discussions.

For those that have been around,  you have seen the stuff that has gone on and you know what my stance has been, and should have an idea what it would take for Rob to allow these changes to proceed. We have had some good discussions in private and prayed for Rob and the future of Biblepay. Which helped to facilitate this and shows his willingness to work with us to improve things.

What we are looking for from the community is a clean start.   I am not taking this lightly,   and you should not either.

New community guidelines going forward:
* Be respectful,  think about the children and the lives we are trying to bless through this project.  Speak as if they are reading each and every reply.
* Post deletions will be limited to topics that have personal or confidential information only.   We're working with Rob on the guidelines for this since currently he is the only one with access to delete messages. (Please, don't make this an issue by posting garbage Smiley
* Work with each other on understanding.   We all have different backgrounds, pains, motivations.   Let's seek to unify for the sake of our Lord and those we want to keep blessing.
* tmike and I will work on support, and relaying topics back to the devs as needed.   User support is still encouraged, and welcomed!

If everyone plays along, we can transform this community from a hostile environment to something worthy of representing Christ and the original vision of this project.

History gives insight into someone's prior behavior and helps us understand their present behavior. It looks like the former lead dev of a project decided to create a new one that gave him enough control to insure he would never lose it.

The game is about power. The challenge for the dev is the same challenge for all Christians. Do we humble ourselves to the leadership of our true King, or do we cling to our own power?

As for transparency, the CEO of every single public company is required to give up their anonymity and to face ongoing scrutiny. It's only a matter of time until mainstream participation and financial regulation will require the same openness and accountability for CEO-devs in the murky financial world of crypto.

Fair point,  some changes are coming that may help settle things for a bit...   stick around guys it's going to be an interesting ride.
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay✟CPU✟Governance✟Help Orphans✟PODC Cancer Mining✟Deflationary✟Masternodes on: October 26, 2018, 10:19:45 AM
Inblue:

I completely agree we need to work on transparency,  thankfully a few of us have been in communication with Rob and we are working on a few things that will help.

You know what my stance and issues have been in the past,   all I'm looking to do is prevent this thread from continuing to be a circus Smiley

I would ask that you give us a day or two,  to not inflame the situation worse as the details are finalized.

Side note:  I'm working on some tools to help watch masternode/governance.. (as well as other things as time goes on).   We can use this to watch for duplicate proposals and ideally have an alert system built into it for duplicates/re-votes needed.

One thing Rob probably doesn't realize is that people would treat him much better if he had a face! It's easy for people to be insensitive when they are talking to a faceless forum user, but if he showed his face, he would have much more respect automatically. It's basic psychology.

I don't disagree, but frankly I don't want my face out there either at present...   This may change but I don't foresee it..

Then again, there are people that don't truly care about personal issues and will troll/rant anyways Smiley

Thank you for whittling the problem down to something manageable and not including the prior content (which is just unprofessional).  (on a side note I emailed you but Im not sure if you deleted it).

The answer to your question above is that the pool.biblepay.org has a feature where any user can request an old instance of a proposal be hidden in the pool only, *if* they re-enter the proposal with the exact same name, within the current 30 day vote window.

This has been in the pool and used by Bloom, Compassion, and me and is a legitimate feature.  It lets our community vote on the latest instance, if for example the prior instances are going to put us over budget.

In this case, I added up all the proposals in the pool and made an effort to lower myself and compassions enough to fit in the budget (which was not known until two days ago, since we have Kairos and Jaaps two now also).

None of the proposals have ever been deleted- and if you wish to use the core wallet to view them you can see all of them.

When I designed the pool, I made it so that it is easier to use - and that feature is important that the graph totals up properly. If we didnt have it, we would be overbudget every single month except last Christmas when we first started this.

We always had a budget problem!  Since month #2!  You have to realize the pool has to fit the proposals within the grand total on the graph!

Interesting, how does this affect sanctuaries and the superblock generation?

Do they as a matter of course ignore the oldest/older proposal?

267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay✟CPU✟Governance✟Help Orphans✟PODC Cancer Mining✟Deflationary✟Masternodes on: October 25, 2018, 12:59:02 PM
I don't really know what's the problem if someone has more or less BBP masternodes.

Were Dash adopters arguiing about this on their early days? Would this discussion not exist if we had 4000 MN?

It is not that a possible control might be in few hands, something that probably happens in all cryptos (Bitcoin included), but that those with majority have the right incentives to "behave" and favour the coin's stakeholders interests instead following some harmful agenda.

At this very early moment we are in, I think all here have very similar incentives. I mean, it's not just a matter of money when you can get 1,6% of the masternodes with just 1 BTC.

Are we so far away that we can't close the gap of our differences? I don't think so.

I have no problem with someone owning a bulk of the masternodes.

My only concern was if someone is putting a proposal out there to get public opinion, and ends up overriding the public opinion... This is dishonest, and is a risk for any masternode coin I suppose. (for clarity, Rob has said he didn't do this,  but I wouldn't want anyone else to either)
At this point,  Rob and I are talking and seem to be getting along in private discussions.

I am hoping to help move the community forward, but we're not there yet apparently, I cannot control anyone but myself but I do want to see things cool off...

Anyone up for the "Community manager" position?  We need someone that can keep a level head regardless of what is being thrown at them.. Smiley

** Improving BiblePay's Image **

I think we have outgrown our original communication model in this forum.  When I come in and view the posts after a good night's sleep, I see a certain level of negativity that has crept in, and is persistent frankly, and its shameful for a Christian Community (or ones that represent Christ) to be so full of disagreements, arguments, spying, attempting to hurt others, etc.  I feel that these elements of attempting to prove one another wrong, discover secret information (IE voting, how many nodes ones owns), proving others are "right" about things - these are rooted in insecurity and also threaten the security of others.  I've come to the point where I disagree with a critical threshhold of information on this forum.  Some people don't have the morals standards and ethics to hold back negative feelings about others.

I'm not standing here as one who isn't willing to set an example.  I am willing to completely forgive and treat everyone here anew, and set a good precedent going forward.  So please don't reply and say, look at you, you are the one who started all this - wait - Let's not blame others - lets not judge - lets not hold grudges - lets start over.

This forum is sapping energy from our creative side and our productive side.  It's not a net positive anymore.  Things have to change.

Therefore I am going to take TheSnat's advice, and recruit a "Community Manager".  A liaison between developers and the forum.

The Community Manager will gather both compliments and complaints, gather IT requirements, and other items that are relevant and create a weekly report (and sometimes in an ad-hoc fashion more frequently for mission critical problems such as production support issues) and forward these to our developer address (which I will create).

The dev team or myself will create a regular weekly reply with answers to the issues, and optionally will answer some in an adhoc-fashion - especially where they are mission critical.

Please discuss who wants to represent the BiblePay community as Community Manager and if you need support from me, please send me a PM if you need a poll created on the forum with the shortlist of candidates.

Looking forward to seeing this change,  lets all get behind this.  I understand there may be a learning curve as this process starts (For whoever takes this position) so we will all have to be gentle with them.

To clarify,  are you looking to let them moderate this thread, or is that something you will hold on to?

Its funny to see when your proposals are agreed you are satisfied and the biggest christians in the world. When you have a trouble with your proposals your big christianity goes away and you are blaming each other :-)
Its very clear that all is about money and you can play on christians as much as you want. Wake up guys.

I disagree with Funny, but I think that was sarcasm anyway.

Not all who are here claim to be Christians (I know some who have said they are for profit only, others ambiguous)

With that said, I agree we all need to learn how to get along..
270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay✟CPU✟Governance✟Help Orphans✟PODC Cancer Mining✟Deflationary✟Masternodes on: October 23, 2018, 02:00:48 AM
I didnt try to find out; Togo updated a post somewhere with some scathing comment about him wanting to double check my Payroll proposal - claiming it might be one line of code per commit or something - and at the same time he voted against me on that payroll (right after I said I would "abstain" on his) another words he was being spiteful - and at that same exact time I saw my votes go down by -38 on the original HFW proposal *and* my payroll proposal (they both went down that second by -38).  So thats how I know it was Togos action, and he didnt deny it when I called him out on it.

As far as your assumption, what you are not taking into account is the effect of someone voting against a proposal - it counts as 2* because the owner of the proposal must not only make up for the negative vote but use another vote to make it positive- so you need double the 38 for example (76) just to get positive, therefore no one could control the outcome of a proposal with someone like Togo for example voting against you.

Please be careful,  yes he said that, but that doesn't mean it was him that voted against you.   It's possible that someone else was voting around the same time.  I know at least one other that had 37 MN's last month, he could easily have 38 this month.

My only concern is there are now 2 active proposals,  this is a bad precedent to set.

Interesting proposal (orphan mining)...

I would like to see more details on the economics side..  I know we're not to be driven by profit but there some that will be (and they do help keep us going).

This is a huge change directionally,   I'm curious how it would help the complexity side, and how many sanc owners would have to do extra work to make it flow.

Also, on the sanc side is their reward getting increased as well for the extra work they will have to do?    How do we prevent someone with a lot of sanc's from upvoting their own proposal and abusing the system?

Initial thoughts,  it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Unbanked payment missing again.

How is daily superblock time doing? Still hanging in there around 24 hours per day? Noticed its been drifting past closer to 25 hours between daily superblock to superblock.

Same on unbanked, worked for 3 days then missed yesterdays again.

Missed payment again for unbanked. I take it there's no way to see what masternode version someone is on...

from a miner's perspective looks like we picked up a few more 1.1.3.8's

{
  "Version": "Popularity,Percent %",
  "1.1.3.8": "10; 4.88%",
  "1.1.4.4": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.4.6": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.4.7": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.4.8": "3; 1.46%",
  "1.1.4.9": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.5.4": "4; 1.95%",
  "1.1.5.5": "3; 1.46%",
  "1.1.5.6": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.5.7": "20; 9.76%",
  "1.1.5.8": "3; 1.46%",
  "1.1.5.9": "157; 76.58%"
}

But overall most are 5.7 or greater.

I missed the unbanked yesterday as well.

It looks like USDT is really falling apart with big liquidity issues. I can't imagine who'd want to accumulate it. Did you see how BTC reacted?

Why would anyone want to hold tether when you have audited stablecoins like Gemini Dollar or True USD? Tether's time is ending because they can't get an audit together which means they are hiding something.

At the moment because neither of those are on many exchanges, or have volume to support their use.

This could change obviously with this event..

Ok interestng.  Well so far the strange thing I see is only 54% of our network upgraded (exec versionreport), meaning that its possible our old chain is not forked yet (since the rules aren't exactly 'breaking' rules).

I think we will need to somehow know which sanc version created the contract.  We do know which version mined it, but not which sanc version created it.

But I'm leaning toward the high possibility that since we have barely a supermajority upgraded, its possible an old sanc created the contract under the old rules.

This is confusing...

{
  "Version": "Popularity,Percent %",
  "1.1.3.8": "12; 5.85%",
  "1.1.4.6": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.4.7": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.4.8": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.5.4": "1; 0.49%",
  "1.1.5.6": "53; 25.85%",
  "1.1.5.7": "18; 8.78%",
  "1.1.5.8": "5; 2.44%",
  "1.1.5.9": "113; 55.12%"
}

As of 77000 we should have minimum of 1.1.5.7, Are we not enforcing that on the network?

I'm curious how clients on 1.1.5.6 or older are still mining blocks.

Sorry, I've been kind of behind this weekend myself.

Yes, so far we only blacklisted two teams:  Gridcoin Rosetta and Gridcoin WCG.

Let me say heartily:  We are Not blacklisting because they are not good!  This blacklist was created to prevent double dipping only!
This is strictly to prevent one researcher from receiving rewards from two blockchains simultaneously (in our effort to preserve the integrity of PODC mining).

I'll be looking at metrics today so we can create a baseline to see how much of an influx we are receiving from the outside team members.
This is sort of a free unlimited PR Campaign for us!  Bring on the Massive Free influx of BOINC users from everywhere!

Now I don't think it would be considered poaching to send a few Forum messages to places like the US Navy :  Hey you can earn BBP - in this way - all you need is a PODC stake..etc.

If we have others that surely need blacklisted please post, if you are sure it could be double dipping.

The only other one i'm aware of is Byteball, several double-dip with them currently but they offer a team bonus +10% if you move over there.

I'd be curious to see our stats as well,  how many new users, how many abandoned BBP team etc.    With the THOR competition running hopefully we can stay in the game.

Noticed an update on the team blacklist.

"TEAMBLACKLIST (10-12-2018 23:33:14)": "12575;30513"

12575 is the Rosetta ID for Gridcoin, i'm assuming 30513 is the same for WCG, Rob can you confirm?

How do you check team blacklist?

Why is GridCoin being excluded? Wasn't the point to get more people to stake BBP for PoDC?

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/team_display.php?teamid=12575

I don't see a team 30513. What is it exactly that you see?

RPC "exec datalist spork"

I couldn't find the 30513, my assumption is its the WCG teamid for gridcoin , but cannot confirm at the moment

Every little thing we do can have a ripple effect,
My talking in Dash's discord more lately and also challenging fluffy over Twitter gave us more visibility,

Rob, I didnt mean any hate by the "UX could use some love" comment,
I probably should have worded it as "more love", I also didnt read Suns message before posting
I was thinking Jaap and I are not website designers, we could use some help LOL,
and that I also still need help with designing ads

I think Sun was rude again calling the wallet design Horrible, the design is fine, its functional, its getting the job done.
But also Rob, sadly people judge things by how they look, if we can look even better Im all for it.

=

Also, hey everyone, We have a new front page design on the main website:
https://www.biblepay.org/

I like the front page, looks a lot like many other coin pages so it should aid in navigation.  Wallet is front and center that helps.

As for the wallet they say "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".   I will say personally I thought the old theme was ugly...  No offence intended to anyone but I was grateful when the new theme came around Smiley

Edit:  sorry for the multiple posts...
