The main pool hurts my eyes now!

I personally prefer the old black/grey theme over this Smiley

we see it all on GITHUB

https://github.com/biblepay/biblepay

so we are confuse

Right, we never said github was our announcement system for releases, github is our code repository.  It contains multiple branches, and sometimes code is being shared across branches that is not built yet, so don't recommend to ANYONE that people use GITHUB as a signaling system.

I would like to try a Visual Studio build on windows..  working towards it.  Is there a branch that is always latest and greatest on github?

Check out this powerpoint that Jaap made:

https://pool.biblepay.org/Media/Biblepay-General Information.pptx

Sun has edited it with some enhancements today.

Some good info.  I do think the pre april 1st podc staking info could be removed for clarity.

Question on legacy/Heat mining...

What is the daily bbp allocation to heat miners?   I'm curious since i have been getting very little from the pools lately.
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | Masternodes | Sanctuaries | POBH - ASIC Resistant | 10% ORPHANS on: April 03, 2018, 02:49:54 PM
I just want to react to this bit, because it's also concerning me. I spoke up a few times when Rob reacted in a way that didn't accord with how I communicate with people myself, and I will continue to do that in the future if I feel that people seem oblivious as to why they get the reaction they get from Rob (getting called a fudder, and/or having their posts deleted).

I even had the idea to post a 'Rob guidelines' sticky on reddit. To show people how to post on bitcointalk in a way that wouldn't get their posts deleted. I think the biggest problem here is the diffused state of information. If you follow this forum closely, you know exactly what you can expect, but for newcomers it can be quite the challenge sometimes.

I see this project - and most of my life - mostly as a mirror through which reflection I have an opportunity to uncover more of myself. And I see Rob primarily as a fellow human in this endeavor. He has his blind spots just like the rest of us. And this might be reflection on my part, but that's just the way I see it. And if it's a blind spot, then please enlighten me Wink

I guess I just wanted to say that although Rob might come of harsh sometimes, I respect him. I've come to like him for who he is.

I spoke with rob in PM bout this, but overall here is how I see it. (not singling anyone out here).
Overall I do respect him and others here, and appreciate his contribution and vision for this project.

Harshness begets harshness...

I've not been the best example at this, and I know we are all only sinners at the end of the day.

With that said, people in a position of authority,  be it leadership for the project, or church, they have a moral obligation to be "better" than the average folk..    Return harshness with compassion,  Slander with kindness ...
We want to win people over not push them away.

People can and will get upset. The enemy seeks to devour and corrupt anything that is good.   We need to be the light in the darkness,  our response will help determine the outcome.

Simply put:
Lets try to keep this thread something we would be willing for the orphans to read.

How is that for rules? haha

I was the one that gave the 30 dollar figure. I was looking at my own computers (which are AMD Phenom II's and A8's), and they give me about 2000 RAC. It's indeed 120 dollars. Higher than I thought. Don't know how I got the 30 dollar figure. In an ideal world, I would like 3 things:
1. No botnets
2. Fair entrance for new users.
3. Making it expensive for power-users to participate.

The first one is covered now. Maybe it's a bit too expensive right now for new users with a lot of computing-power right now, but that doesn't mean this can't change in the future. The third one certainly is true for new power-users, but existing power-users that believe in Biblepay (I consider myself a moderately big user) that have been in the game for a long time have an advantage because they have more BBP. They have that much BBP because they didn't sell, because they have a long-term view for the coin. I think that whales aren't a bad thing per se if they believe in the project.

The thing I really like about Biblepay in it's current form, is that it is actually transparent who are the mining whales. I believe this is fairly unique. You really know what you are investing in.

This isn't really in reply to you thesnat21, I'm just rambling a bit at this point.

Just two more things:

1. The 20BBP/RAC was democratically decided. Maybe some users didn't realize the power of their vote, but I think now most have realized that voting matters. As far as I know, the staking requirements can be adjusted every mandatory, no nothing is stopping us to have another vote in two months and take in all the information and opinions we have gathered in that time, and come to another consensus (hopefully with a lot more people involved). Maybe we should have a public vote, maybe a sanctuary vote. There is a lot to consider here.

2. Heat mining doesn't really require staking. You need a functioning CPID for every wallet that you are mining with. But I think that nothing is stopping people from sharing the wallet.dat between multiple wallets. And also, you could use one PC, set one cpu-thread to mine Rosetta and set the rest to heat-mine. That way you don't really have to stake and can still earn BBP via heat-mining.
That maybe isn't really how Biblepay is intended, but nothing is stopping users from walking that path.

For the record I have been mining/holding all my BBP since day 1,  missing out on a PODC payment and being slow to realize the switch over affected me a bit, but I don't think it would have been a huge change to my figures above.. (maybe 2-5kbbp)

I agree the goal set was met, and I welcome a re-vote farther down the line after some real-world examples.  Things don't always work as planned and its hard to predict the exact outcome of a change like this.

I don't expect change today,  just throwing out my thoughts for when it comes back around Smiley

As for the additional points,
#1.  People like myself that were not paying close attention to the forum could have missed the call to vote.   This just speaks to a need for a more central communications hub for news.   It is easy to lose sight of things in a thread like this, even if it is on multiple pages.  When I started I didn't read from page 1, and I doubt anyone else would.

#2. It would be helpful to outline the process to do this.   Especially for new folks joining if they try to start with PODC only it will be very frustrating.  It could streamline the process for people to start if this is more clearly documented, or people could easily be referred to it.

567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | Masternodes | Sanctuaries | POBH - ASIC Resistant | 10% ORPHANS on: April 03, 2018, 10:42:45 AM
This is not meant as a dig, just a report out of what I am actually seeing.

Status update:
Post-20bbp/rac stake.

So far I have declined,  I was up to almost 2k bbp/day earnings prior to the change.
Day 1:  earnings dropped to 1127
Day 2:  earnings dropped to 979

Regarding the earlier assumption : 30$ in biblepay = enough to stake a decent home machine.
Earlier in this thread it was mentioned a "decent gaming machine" could produce 6k RAC

The math on this...   6000 * 20 = 120000 bbp required to fully stake.
Assuming BBP is 0.003usd/per  this is 120,000*0.003  = $360

This is a significant difference from the 30$(roughly 10x) figure mentioned earlier. 30$ will stake you for a 500 RAC machine which would be a very low end.. (my old i3 from 6+years ago is doing 3x this)

As a result, since I had only earned 25k-ish the last 2 months mining. I'm now at 20% stake under the new rules.

What I decided is ok, fine I will lower my RAC since it doesn't benefit me any to continue how I was mining.
This seems to only have reduced my payment, not my UXTOWeight.

So because I'm a small fish. and cannot buy my way into the coin I have to either do 5x the work to keep up with my smaller payout, or wait out the RAC drop until I can be fully staked while accepting smaller payouts than normal for my work. (not sure how much time this would take)

I see others excited about their increased payouts.. I will be completely honest, this is frustrating for someone in my position, or any potential newbies trying to join the coin.

I'd be curious to see a list of all the payout changes, and did this changeover control the "botnets" that were being used as the reason for this change?  Perhaps that would help a little i guess.

Now.. for something positive

shortly it will be Easter morning for me .. for some it already is.

He is Risen!  Rejoice!

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

i get the pay to play.  not all of us have money to spend.....

the vote is what it is.  the community is small and will remain that way i suspect (I hope it grows!)...  time will tell,  I will get off my soapbox Smiley

I may be disappointed, but as with anything we all have the choice to participate or not. I don't harbor ill will towards anyone here.   Rob you have done a lot for this community!  I respect that and the progress this coin has undergone.

I started mining because of the values here...  even before i started paying attention to the thread.  I have traded/sold 0 bbp thus far and don't plan on cashing out.  I want to see the philanthropy expand as this project grows.

Not sure, is CCEX still accepting registrations?
Southxchange is the other working option, I believe.

Did you manage to vote on the issue?
I think it's worth noting that Rob's initial plan was to go with per MAG, but some asked for per RAC. So Rob gave us that option and people voted that way. Can't get more democratic than that!

By the way Rob, perhaps for future votes we could consider only accounts older than 1 month old can vote to avoid spam/illegitimate accounts.

ccex wants an invite code

soutexchange wont let me register gives an error... will try later

Well I'm from the camp that the honeypot should be protected, since the investors money flows in through one stream (investors aren't necessarily miners) - they buy and hold, however miners are sometimes investors but not necessarily.

So the inbound revenue is more protected with PODC, 10% is spent on orphans, and with a lot of red-tape and UTXO's and management of PODC devices doing positive work for humanity then you can get your hands on some mined BBP.

So in my view this is very positive for the coin.  In contrast to a coin where hundreds of thousands are pumping and dumping the mined coins from ASIC devices.

I agree it should be protected,  i'm a miner on other coins.  I started mining BBP over other things not for personal profit, but for something greater that fits with my beliefs.

I worry that the value of the coin will be diminished if the only way to participate requires a large investment.

I just don't want to see this coin go top-heavy (like corporations) and weed out the little guys that will help carry/build it up.

Less miners is great for those that have the resources.. but reminds me of "rich get richer"...  What is the answer?  I don't know for sure.

572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | Masternodes | Sanctuaries | POBH - ASIC Resistant | 10% ORPHANS on: March 31, 2018, 12:03:31 PM
my rac with 3 machines is currently ~8000 at 20 bbp/rac that is 160k this means I will get less than 10% reward and will never be able to catch up.. .

I do not have the resources to buy 160k bbp( or any crypto really...).   Currently i have 15k from mining

I like the project, and whats behind it.   I see consolidation of money in the sanctuaries,  most of the rewards from mining already go to others before the "miners" get a cut.

I may have to stop or greatly cut back my mining activities if the 20bbp/rac goes through.
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | Masternodes | Sanctuaries | POBH - ASIC Resistant | 10% ORPHANS on: March 30, 2018, 08:44:38 PM
I took a look at the code, and I do see that a PODC Update will not go out of a machine with no tasks, therefore there will be no UTXO update also, which is bad (meaning they cant take advantage of our DR mode #2).

So basically only the ones with lingering tasks in the task queue are the ones able to send the PODC update.

Alright, Ill take this opportunity to make two features in the core wallet:

- Ability to honor our DR level, and send a UTXO update accordingally
- Ability to honor the required UTXO Stake amount without using a Key setting

This will be ready within a few hours.

I don't run boinc on my wallet machine and it functions ok so far..

is it no tasks on THAT machine or any running period?

Uhm. Guys...

WCG also seems to have the option to have tasks you can run on GPU's (although currently I don't think there are any):
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=GPU

Also, WCG by default only uses 60% of your CPU-power, you can change it in your 'Device Profiles' settings.
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=cpuuse#395

Last thing: are we able to pull the processor stats from somewhere (important for the Unbanked function)?

Rosetta has some GPU tasks as well.. I think they are probably weighted accordingly

I'll add a feature to the next version so we can see UTXO timespan history.

I sent you pm so we can discuss further.  I do not see a reason why I was not included in the payment

Please check your transaction list and see if you actually got paid at midnight last night.

I think we just have two bugs in 1.1.1.1:  Inability to see your last payment (and I see the reason and fixing it) and inability to see exec leaderboard (also fixing that now).

Let me know if you were actually paid.  That would simplify things for me.

I don't see the transaction in the list.  i'm running 1.1.1.3

My balance doesn't reflect another payment either.

Please ensure the team you joined is "Biblepay" and not "Deleted".  The first team had an error in the record.

My BOINC profile is setup for biblepay,  I didn't see a biblepay group on the WCG page if that matters

signed up for WCG .. will see how it reports out

It looks like I got a payment last night but my getboincinfo says "Last Superblock Payment": -1 even though the total payments for one day is correct.

And for some reason I have a mag of zero on getboincinfo also but on the pool it says I have mag.

Everything you say is the same in my case Smiley

I don't see a payment received, so I didn't get paid... you sure you actually had a transaction received?
