1141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: when will all btc be mined? on: December 17, 2014, 10:11:06 AM
Let's keep things in perspective. In 10 years 95% of bitcoins will be mined. The rest will be spare change and less and less relevant to miners for the next 100 years.

Transaction fees will be the main incentive for miners.

...

I still remember doge people bragging when Doge reached the 3th greater marketplace, in the time when Litecoin was strong.

Then there was the big dump

Filter non mineable and it still is No. 3 Wink

Lots of speculation about the Bitcoin halvation but no way to tell the specific date.

(northern) Summer '16.

ish... Smiley
1144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving table on: December 12, 2014, 01:46:55 PM
it shows that after some time block reward will be halved does that mean that difficulty will be increased by 2x?

No. It means that the reward will be reduced to 12.5 BTC per block.

But in a way you are right. Mining will instantly become 2x less profitable. And difficulty will most likely (at least temporarily) drop, because older hardware that will not be profitable will be shut off...

But there is also a chance that by then the transaction fees will have a much more significant volume, so the block halving will not have such a big impact.

Currently fees are less than 1% of what miners get. Usualy 0.5 - 0.1%

What the fu*k is going on with you BTC? You need to go to the moon ASAP, i am tired of all these stupid bears and shit

Deposit a dozen or so milllion $ on an exchange and start buying like there'll be no tomorrow.
Repeat until news hits CNN, FOX, etc...

Instant CCMF!

Don't have the $$$? Sit and wait then. Wink
1146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2014, 11:28:34 AM
The price has been stuck between the denial and fear phase for too long. I'm still waiting for desperation and fear..

This, my buys are in the $310-$320 range. Usually before a big climb there is a crazy crash right before. And if I miss it...meh, that's all good too.

Though we have been through so many different reasons why Bitcoin is going to fail and reasons why Bitcoin is going to the moon that I'm not sure what sort of news could do either.

The 3 month chart suggests that we might already be in capitulation or even depression. It could be interpreted as a trend reversal going on since early October. But the $320 should be retested to confirm Smiley I could of course be high on hopium.

News has less and less influence. The freaking Microsoft announcement did almost nothing.

1148  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A few questions about cloud mining. on: December 12, 2014, 09:49:46 AM
Hasn´t it been proven that you don´t actually pay for any REAL gh/s / kh/s?

For who? How could you prove that for all of them? Smiley

An to respond to OP:

I any case, anyone recommending a service is only doing it to earn a % of your purchase. Do your own research, that's all I will say. I will not even mention the options available, they are one google search away.

What I can do is check your math once you do some research. Wink

But for the most part, cloud mining is an investment for people who:
1. Are terrible at math
2. Like to burn money
1149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving table on: December 12, 2014, 08:39:19 AM
There are sites for Bitcoin and Litecoin that are somewhat reliable. The exact date depends on the hashrate until then, and the other altcoins mostly have very large swings so the estimates are very inaccurate.

Basically they are all good profit for the owners of the cloud mining operation. Customers however mostly lose money.

This is a good calculator: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

Confirmed by Ripple believers:
The Ripple NETWORK is a centralized interbank settlement network that banks may use in the future.
The Ripple COIN (XRP) is a centrally managed altcoin that COULD be used on that network but is not an essential part of it.
Adoption of the network does not imply survival of the coin.

This! Smiley
1157  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] KRAKEN.COM - Exchange Now Open with USD, EUR, BTC, LTC, XRP, NMC, XDG on: December 09, 2014, 08:05:40 AM

i am presuming your bank is HSBC or such-like?

No, its Banque Populaire

Any idea, on how to get around this issue?

I got similar crap from HSBC, so I used another bank.

Just switch banks. It's clearly not the bank for you. Doesn't matter how 'popular' it is Wink

And tell them why you did it.
1158  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 04, 2014, 11:52:28 AM

So, I'd anticipate a spike when the price is announced.

there will be no announcements about the winning price, just speculations.

...

time to test that 360 wall I guess.

I even know that. Not really sure why I wrote that. I meant when the winner is announced.

There is not going to be any official annoűcement about the winner too..
Mates you wonder if the auction is real.. Roll Eyes

One of the winners, especially Draper, will announce if he won, though. Also, if there are multiple winners, we'll be able to track the movement to multiple wallets. So, it's not like we are flying totally blind on this... just sort of blind.

Yea right.. Didnt i told you guys i won the previous auction?! ^^

sup Tim

Hehe, no but seriously what proofs did Draper provided again?

Édit: and plz dont quote coindesk. Kinda reminds me that ghost 150k$ platinium membership KNC payed to TBF.. Me who thought bitcoin eases transparency..

Platinum membership is only issued if you use highly questionable business ethics.

KnC didn't get it while they were still selling profitable miners to people on schedule...

Double bottom in hashrate// perhaps someone has decided the end has come for their equipment. Wonder when the next set of more efficient machinery comes online, besides testing from the manufacturer.

i'd say Coindesk says around 2nd quarter 2015

There, I fixed it Wink
