Sending Cryptocurrency To Email
Even if the recipient doesn’t have a wallet yet
When PayPal started, they allowed to send money to an email address of another PayPal user. Users didn’t have to exchange any wallet numbers prior to payment. Another smart move: this worked even if the recipient was not a PayPal user yet. He was prompted to sign up and instantly take the money.

In cryptocurrencies, we are still sending payments to cryptic addresses like 1BtjAzWGLyAavUkbw3QsyzzNDKdtPXk95D or TKT4UESIKTTRALRRLWS4SENSTJX6ODCW, the recipient has to be already in the system, and we need to ask him about his address. And after a payment is sent, there is no easy way to tell who was the recipient. Not quite user friendly for mass adoption.

Now, this is going to change.

With the release of Byteball wallet version 2.0, Byteball users can send Bytes to email. Even if the recipient is not in Byteball yet.

The sender just writes an email address where he would normally write a Byteball address:


When he hits “Send”, his email app is opened with prefilled text for the recipient. The sender can edit it before sending.

The recipient receives an email like this:


He clicks the link and the money is added to his balance. If he doesn’t have a wallet yet, he is prompted to install in order to receive the money.

Simple as hell.

When PayPal was starting, email was the only wide spread method of P2P communication over the Internet. Now we have a lot more options, some of them are even more convenient, especially on mobiles.

When the sender is on a mobile phone and switches to “Share via message” tab (see the screenshot above), he is able to use all the options available through the phone’s standard “Share” menu: text message, Telegram, WhatsApp, WeChat, Signal, Viber, Slack, Facebook Messenger, Skype, etc. The recipient receives the same link, but through a chat app.


In any case, the money is delivered through text media, that’s why we call it textcoin.

On the technical part, the link which is delivered contains a BIP39 mnemonic (we use dashes instead of spaces to avoid confusion with wallet seed). Only one address, with path m/44'/0'/0'/0/0, is generated from the mnemonic, the coins are actually sent to this address. When the recipient claims the funds, his wallet restores the private key from the mnemonic (everything happens in the background and looks instantaneous), and sweeps the entire balance from this address to one of his own addresses.

Double fee has to be paid, first to fill the temporary address where the money is stored in transit, then to sweep its balance. The sender adds a small amount to cover the fees spent when sweeping. So, the amount displayed in the email or text message is the exact net amount. This is to make it clearer for the recipient, especially when he is new to crypto.

The textcoins might be delivered through insecure media, such as emails or unencrypted chats. That’s why it is recommended to use them only for small amounts or through end-to-end encrypted chats, such as Signal, WhatsApp, and iMessage.

If the sender makes a mistake in the email address or chooses a wrong recipient, the money is not lost. The sender can claim the money back using the same mnemonic. It is saved in the wallet for such occasions, and a “claim back” link is available on transaction details page.

This is like PayPal but with one important difference. The money is not kept in custody of PayPal or any other third party. The money is sent directly, from sender to recipient, peer-to-peer, in the spirit of crypto.

Sem si pogledal tisto oddajo, hvala. Večinoma stvari, ki sem jih že vedel, sem bil pa presenečen, ko je gospa iz banke rekla, da bojo poleg menjalnic (ki so večinoma že itak regulirane, vsaj tiste bolj resne), regulirali tudi kreiranje denarnic. A to čisto resno? To je najbrž mislila na ponudnike kakih hot/desktop walletov. Ker kako bi regulirali lahko naprimer kreiranje papirnatih denarnic? A ni tako, da se da te denarnice kreirati tudi preprosto preko kode, ki so jo povlečeš recimo iz GitHub-a? Sam zaenkrat uporabljam samo MEW, tako da nevem. Any ideas?

You are actually right about that, but I think there are some forks that sometimes also make sense from a technological point of view and then they should also get more support from the bootstrapped part of the community.

Glede na to da bodo še malo hitreje volitve kot bi moral biti me zanima koliko se bo kej govorilo v predvolilnem boju o Kriptosvetu.   Špekuliram da bo SMC postavil nekaj takega v njihov program saj je do sedaj vlada vsaj simpatizirala z različnimi slo ICOti.  Lahko da tu totalno špekuliram ij je pobuda prišla iz drugih dveh strank ampak se mi zdi to manj verjetno.

SD bo tudi  po moje imel vsaj nekaj v programu. Dominika Švarc Pipan ki pravno svetuje parim ICOtim in ki je zadnjič v oddaji Akcent http://4d.rtvslo.si/arhiv/akcent/174521109 pokazala nekaj znanja o Kriptosvetu bo kandidirala na njihovi listi.

Kaj bodo naredili Pirati? Stranka ki bi teoretično morala najbolj imeti krito v programu. al bodo sam z konoplju bluzil do onemoglosti.


Bo SDS prepustil prednost levici? Če se ne motim bo Batagelj kandidiral na njihovi listi. On lahko z marsičem presenti.    NSI slovi po gospodarskem programu na predvolitvah. Mogoče je to preveč digitalno za njih.

No zanimivo, da najprej asociacija na spam. Ja odpravljamo tudi spam .. ampak v prvo pojasnilo:

- ne pošilja NOBENEGA maila NIKOMUR!
- ne prodaja nobenega maila ali ga daje nikomur!
- ne sili nobene pošte ali ne vzpoduja siljenja

Ker je EMMARES poponoma nekaj drugega , mi dovolite, da pojasnim na kratko, po naše, za kaj gre zares. Ne me razumeti narobe, ampak zanimivo mi je, da smo dobili vsaj tri take komentarje in to izklučno v Sloveniji. Drugje očitno razumejo EMMARES drugače  in ga ocenjujejo kot zelo dober projekt. Narejenih je bilo tudi precej neodvisnih recenzij (npelačanih) in povsod je EMMARES ocenjen vrhunsko in med temi, ki so dobili na splošno najboljše ocene (primer https://cryptostandard.io/ico/emmares/  ) pa poglejte si celotne review na preko 30 straneh.

Ne nazadnje nas je našel kot perspektiven in izstopajoč projekt, tudi David Drake, ki se je prejšnji petek priključil EMMARESu kot strateški svetovalec.

EMMARES se ukvarja s tem, da s pomočjo prejemnikov (sporočil, ki bi jih v vsakem primeru dobili, torej EMMARESne generiran novih sporočil) ustvarja zaupanja vredne ocene kvalitete pošilajteljev in njihovih vsebin (govorimo o bulk tipu sporočil, kot je npr. Kuponko, Emmirates letalske ponudbe, Mercator ponudbe,....) torej legitimne marketerje, ki zagotavljajo vsebine, ki jih določeni naročniki ŽELIJO in so jih naročili SAMI. Za oceno vsebine so prejemniki nagrajeni z EMA tokeni.
Direktorij ocenjenih pošilajteljev je V POMOČ prejemnikom, ki bi SE SAMI želeli naročiti na top vsebine iz določenega področja. Sami lahko opravijo registracijo, vendar pri takem sistemu vedo, kdo je dober in kdo manj. Če s ene želijo naročiti na nobeno vsebino se pač ne. Vseeno lahko prispevajo v ocenah in s tem dobijo EMA. Višina ocene je seved aneodvisna od nagrade.

Pa smo že pri spammerjih.... teh nihče ne mara in seveda mi še najmanj. Zato bodo lahko prejemniki (mi vsi) na podlagi APIja ki bo vrnil kvaliteto pošilajtelja, izločli vse bulk maile, ki ali niso ocenjeni ali pa so slabe kvalitete. S tem se lahko prejeti spam drastično zmanjša.
Naš epredvidevanje je , da bo nekoč večji del regularnih vsebin ocenjenih z EMMARES. S tem bodo resnično spamerji popolnoma blokirani.

Celote nsistem vzpodbuja zmanjšanje frekvence marketinških sporočil in povečanje kvalitete teh, ki so v obtoku.

No upam, da sem na kratko uspel vseeno razložiti, za kaj zares gre pri EMMARES in upam, da sem spremenil prvotno dojemanje, po katerem naj bi bil EMMARES nek push spam paradise... Je zelo daleč od tega.

When it is happening, it seems like no bottom, and after about the third or fourth leg down, you can become so fucking tempted to sell - and that frequently can end up being the bottom.

But, yep, could be that the bottom is in.. .  I hope so.  Probably we need to wait for 20 more hours or so, just to be clear that all of the dumpers have had their dumping go at it... and to ensure we are actually done with the dumping, this time around.

Currently, i do have a sense that the dumping is not over, yet.. but what do I know?   

Simple question at me and why it is not necessary to sell in the nearest future? What such important has to occur during this period of time? And so of course it agrees, the coin is checked by time and perhaps has the right to live. And in general probably if there is growth, then only together with all coins together, together with the main growth as already usually we observed it in previous years.

V prvi fazi želimo s sistemom množične (transparentne) evaluacije, za katero so ocenjevalci nagrajeni, vzpostaviti zaupanja vreden register kvalitete pošiljateljev in njihovih vrst vsebin. Takšen sistem bi vzpodbujal izboljšanje kvalitete vsebin, zmanjšal njihovo frekvenco in "kaznoval" pošiljatelje nezaželene pošte (spam).

V naslednji fazi pa želimo uporabnikom omogočiti prijavo na vsebine iz željenega področja, EMMARES pa bo skrbel za ustrezne prijave in odjave (skladno z novo EU zakonodajo). Če se bo kvaliteta izbranega ponudnika zmanjšala in ga bo drug ponudnik presegel, bo sistem naročniku omogočal menjavo virov. Pri temu naročniku ne bo potrebno iskanje po iskalnikih, ne bo mu nujno predhodno poznati vira ali iskati stik z njim na klasičen način.

I dont think we can reach 100k this year anymore. For that, we would be at 20k right now.
