1181  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Website To Host Public Wallet on: October 27, 2014, 03:15:53 PM
Hello, would it be fine with Electrum developers if there was a website which hosted a public wallet, showing QR and 12-word pass phrase?

The wallet would hold 1 bitcoin, and the idea would be to see if anybody can hack it.

I don't think they would mind you donating 1 BTC to the first one who sees your 12 word seed.

With that they can recreate your private key and send the bitcoins to their wallet.

No hacking required, the Electum client app is designed to do that in a few simple steps: (https://electrum.org/tutorials.html#restoring-seed)

The 12 word seed must be kept secret!

Well you managed to spoil me rotten with your fast SEPA deposits. Never took more than 3 hours...

Now I'm a bit impatient since the last one hasn't come in one day. Could you please check. Details in ticket 33778. Thanks Wink

Looks like it's already been credited to your account.

Indeed it is. Thanks. :-)

I thought BTC would be a space bound rocketship by now. Oh well, it's gonna happen sooner or later. And even though I would rather it be sooner, I can keep my coins in cold storage until later. It's not like I don't have anything else to do.

In the meantime, I can't wait to install Gems on my iPhone (Getgems.org). I would love to see it, or something like it, kill Facebook. Or do you guys think Facebook would sooner do the same kind of thing to keep from going the way of MySpace? lol

 Cheesy

Nah, no way. The market still hasn't decided if we stopped falling.

My guess would be a silent accumulation until early 2015 with some swings, but the price will be $400-ish.

After that ETFs will come in and hopefully we get some nice slow steady growth...
1188  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The Mining Incentive on: October 21, 2014, 02:56:38 PM
All the other 100% pre-mined coins do it. Ask them.  Roll Eyes
I'm sure it'll work out, it has to, because it can't continue the way it is.

Cant continue to allow companies to scam us with over priced preorders.

I'm not even going to waste time discussing pre-mined coins. The're just not my cup of tea...

Buying mining equipment is a high risk investment. What you saw in the beginning was a chance to make a ton of coins much cheaper than buying them would cost you. But a high profit investment always comes with high risk. Otherwise we could all be extremely rich, which would sort of make being rich meaningless...

And high risk means things can go very bad, and you end up losing a lot...

I'm terribly sorry you got burned by KnC, really you have my full sympathy. And I fully understand you are angry and want nothing to do with mining anymore. But I don't think it's alright to throw out mining just because you don't like anymore. I like it, I like it a lot Smiley

1190  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Xapo.com Debit Card Not Working and Support Plain Sucks! on: October 20, 2014, 01:15:11 PM
Zebroid -- I'm sorry that happened.  It may be that Xapo support thought that MyChoice had taken care of the problem but, regardless, you should have gotten a better response.
I couldn't tell from your post exactly what the problem is but please email support@xapo.com and identify yourself as Zebroid and I will make sure you get attentive support.
Thank you and I apologize for the frustrating experience.
Ted

Ted, it would be great if Xapo posted more news. Me and a few people I know have the cards preorderd, but there is no hint on the timing. I have no idea if I'll get the e-mail tomorrow, next week or in 2015.

You might also consider opening an official thread here where a senior technical person from Xapo would address any questions/problems we have.

Why Marc Andreessen is Long on Bitcoin and Short on Apple Pay

http://www.coindesk.com/marc-andreessen-long-bitcoin-short-apple-pay/

TL;DR: “I think it will be in the form of bitcoin, but, even if it’s not bitcoin, it will be something else."  Lol.

By "something else" he means something different from todays system, not something other than Bitcoin. Wink

No need to make fun...
1192  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 17, 2014, 11:05:18 AM
BTW Bitstamp doesn't allow unverified accounts to trade at all, simply you cant trade you cant deposit and you cant withdraw before verifying, and if you had an account before the verification was required it just get blocked until you do so.
Am I the only one who thinks that this is fishy as hell?
Feel like Stamp is pulling a Mt. Gox soon.

Yes, you're the only one. The rest of us are fine with verification. Take your money laundering elsewhere...

This thread is exactly what an anarchy would look like...

Now how about them Bitcoins? Correction of yesterdays jump or continuation of the downward trend?
1194  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 15, 2014, 09:24:21 AM
BTC price is now < $390

Thanks for reminding us what this thread is about Wink

Maybe this year wasn't meant to be the year it goes back up to 1000.

All we need is a steady 1,25% daily rise to the end of the year and we'll break $1000 just before midnight.

Trust me, I have Excel! Smiley

What's up with LTC volume on Kraken?

It used to have a similar ratio compared to BTC as the other bigger exchanges that have it (BTC-E, OKCoin, ...), so about 10-20x more LTC traded. And since BTC is about 100 times as valuable that makes the BTC volume 5-10x greater than LTC trading volume.

This is also consistent if we compare BTC/FIAT and BTC/LTC pairs. About 90% of trades are BTC/FIAT and 10% BTC/LTC.

But lately I'm noticing on Kraken that sometimes there were actually more BTC traded than LTC. And that gives us a 99% BTC - 1% LTC volume.

Dargo was talking about market makers on Kraken a while back. While I agree that the BTC/EUR trading volume has improved significantly, the rest of the trading pairs are neglected by the market makers. Any thoughts on that?

While I love Kraken for many of it's great features and support, and it is the only exchange that I move FIAT in/out, I am forced to make BTC/LTC trades on BTC-E if I'm in a hurry...

I have this funny feeling that it's really happening this time... Even getting the fucking chills

Still kinda afraid to take a loan (thinking somewhere between $15-23k)

Never ever in your wildest dreams take a loan to invest in a high risk asset...

Never, ever... Wink

mmitech brings good bearish points to the table I just wish he wasn't so smug about it.

If he means well and wants to tell truth as he sees it (as he asserts) he's hurting his cause by presenting it in an often offensive manner which makes people overlook his points and focus on the delivery. Self-image won't let us agree with somebody who we perceive to be disagreeable and if he turns out to be right, we will hate him for that. Some people find joy in that though, are you one of those people, mmitech?

+1

It's one thing to be bearish and present your arguments. It's a whole other thing to be quite frankly abusive to anyone who is bullish.

@mmitech: All those bans don't come because the admins are trying to 'silence the truth' as you always say. You get them for being smug and offensive. Wink There's no need to insult everyone who does not agree with you...
