1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: LTCGear.com SCAM - Enough is enough, lets get some info together on: February 10, 2015, 01:04:04 PM
I invested big on the 19th. I did not get paid that week or since then so yea I believe it is a fucking scam only.
I hope you understand that I'm not claiming that LTCGear is legit. Not at all.

not legit indeed, we will see what will happens after february ended, some guys got speculation about the 2nd gen which is in middle february

There will be an update for sure "2nd gen taking longer than expected, eta mid march".

Then those same guys will be "Ok, I'll wait til end of March then no more"... and on and on.........

You forgot the part where it will say: "There is also slight delay for balance payments and tax collection for a number of users caused by the DB alteration. ETA is next week."

And by 'number of users' he will mean everyone... Cheesy

Is there an easy way to see what is available per currency in my account for trading? I thought this info was available at one point, but I can't find now?

Just go to Trade/Overview. But this also includes funds locked in open orders.

You have to go to Funding/withdraw and click on each currency to see how much is still available for trading/withdraw.

djm34, you seem to be a colluded acolyte of that low-class BeeKeeper. Of course, psychopaths like you (and him) are unable to have empathy with anybody, at all times. It is part of your existence, you are born like such. No even your parents can be blamed to carry that anomalous dysfunctional genes. Cartel? Muy bien. Here we have many, but that is no the kind of language we are used to. Instead, justice is the answer. With all my respect, but you are a total ignorant regarding the Hague. International courts deal with a vast array of issues, one of them is fraud, as LTCG is. Do you know that all countries signed in that court can demand on this issue? In fact, the wheels of justice are in motion now. So if you are implicated in this fraud, my advise is that you surrender yourself quietly to the pertinent authorities and confess everything, before it is too late.

https://cointellect.com/?code=4569894a

Look, we get it you got burnt by Beekeeper. There's really no need to take your frustration out on people here.

An the fact that you are spreading the cointellect link is very telling... As far as I know that ship already sank...

i don't know why he would put the site back up if he was indeed a runner

He need some time to prepare probably.

Prepare for what  Huh

I still think payments will continue though the wait is frustrating.

What are you smoking? It's over move on.  Shocked

Yup, people should accept this. It will hurt less. It's the hope that's the source of frustration.

I cannot claim 100% he's done a runner, but the chances of him paying out are getting mighty close to winning the lottery jackpot Wink

If he actually pays out he must be the most insensitive and self centered person I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. And I've dealt with a fair share of douchebags.

My lawyer needs more information. Can somebody tell me the original price of qASIC and 2ndG, in USD? My lawyer needs this information. I already have the transfers. The local court has asked for this documentation. Contrarily as some may think, the Justice system in Peru is well organized. There is an specialized technical investigation agency for internet frauds. Then, the provincial court, in about one month will send the case to the state court, just a formality, then to the Superior Court. Likely, as the lawyer told me, not just as a Civil, but as a Criminal case. The Superior Court then will send through the Hague will send the demand to the Romanian Court. The Romanian Court has only 15 day to notify him and to answer. Eventually, if he is at large, an international warrant to catch him will be distributed worldwide.

So it will take you a few months for your court to send the case to the Romanian authorities. The Romanian Court may have 15 days to answer. But that means that in 15 days they will say:

A: "Yup, we got the documents. We'll get on it sometime in this decade."
B: "Not really interested in investigating this further."

Even if you are lucky enough to get the answer A, be prepared to wait a couple of years before they actually do anything.

You can always sue the Romanian Court before the European court, if they are too slow. But those guys aren't lightning fast either.

So decide if you're willing to spend a few thousand $ for your lawyer during the next few years, so you might get your day in court.

Did your lawyer mention this? Is he willing to do it for free if you don't get your money back? Wink

There is still hope

Well, if you're trading on hope I have one advice.

SELL and don't trade anymore.

everything is waiting for the next bull blitzkrieg.

more than 1 year without one Sad
True but it might be more difficult this time with more people leveraged shorting the hell out of it.

Bubbles are bad m'kay Wink

For now we don't know if he stole anything the site ain't down yet.
Grin I am sorry but you are a moron...
He stole several millions, he doesn't cost him much to keep his broken website only... (a couple 100usd, would probably allow him to keep is site online forever...)

So why would he bring the site back up if he doesnt intend to pay people? I mean he's not selling anything atm, so what's in it for him if he's intending to scam? He would have been better off not bringing the site back online IMO.

There's more than just one moron in this thread....  Roll Eyes
Unless someone gets paid, keeping a site online doesn't do much for anybody. It just keeps people hoping that something will happen instead of taking action (whatever action can be taken...).
And for the last time, the website is totally broken, no dual mod, absence of security... and the only (random) change made in the past week has been mostly the number of dots at "pending"  Grin. It doesn't look like he is even trying...

That's probably the best technique as it seems he can't really disappear, his name being everywhere, so stalling forever and letting people hope forever seems to work for him since he still get support on litecointalk...

Maybe the number of dots is a countdown... Cheesy Cheesy
1088  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Using the same seed for Electrum and Electrum LTC? on: February 02, 2015, 09:40:55 AM
Are there are security risks to using the same 12 word seed for Electrum (BTC) and Electrum LTC? What about other forks of Electrum such as Electrum-Doge? For example, I know that it's not a good idea to use the same passphrase for NXT and its clones since it is possible to execute an attack by analyzing the NXT clone's transaction and using it to force a transaction from NXT - resulting in the loss of NXT coins.

I know that I could just generate a new seed, but if it was possible to reuse the seed that I already have then that would be great since it would be one less thing to remember and potentially forget.

There is no security issue, other than the fact that you might lose all of them if you lose the seed. But that should be a non issue.

It only makes sense to do this if you plan on using a single hardware wallet (like Trezor) for all of them.

Why don't you put LTCgear under collapsed? They have not paid their clients for 8 weeks. The fact the website s still online means shit.

Looks like its already on the collapsed list

Puppet put it under collapsed weeks ago Wink
1090  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: January 29, 2015, 10:23:59 AM
I don't think people understand what closed source actually is. Hint: the source is not published publicly on Git.

You're wrong, this is not free software. That's what the customers bought into, and that's what they should be receiving. Making semantic arguments is not appropriate here; "free" and "open" are not used literally in a software development context.

This only hurts the copy cats, the rest of us still have a hardware wallet with open-source software. And I'm also pretty sure it's not gonna stop the Chinese anyway...

You're advocating the "2 wrongs make a right" approach.  And you're correct: this will not stop a successful copycat anyway. It will stop me buying the "official" device.

1. Exactly. The software is open but not free for anyone to copy and use in their device for sale. I have no problems with that. They want to make money from their hard work.

2. 2 wrongs makes a right was not my point. My point was that the Chinese have no respect for copyright.

3. With all that said. If it turns out they did backdate the licensing, that is a pretty deceptive move on their part. Meaning that in all fairness they should use LGPL for the 1.3 firmware source.
1091  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: January 29, 2015, 09:50:23 AM
I would never buy a cheap clone of their device.

And I would never buy a device with closed source IP.

Bye bye Trezor. Bad decision.

I don't think people understand what closed source actually is. Hint: the source is not published publicly on Git.

The software is still open-source. Anyone can check the source an compile it by themselves. You can freely use it and copy it. It publicly published, for gods sake! Anyone can play around with it and see how it works. That's why it's there. Why put/keep it on Git if we can't even look?

You just can't distribute/sell it as your own (in your hardware product). Pretty sure you could make a deal for a paid license, but no freebies.

This only hurts the copy cats, the rest of us still have a hardware wallet with open-source software. And I'm also pretty sure it's not gonna stop the Chinese anyway...

I'm a long time member of this forum and I have a good reputation. I could see you suggesting that if my account had 3 posts and was created a few days ago. I've been an active member of the community for 2 years. Trying to discredit a member with a long history is ridiculous. My concerns are reasonable. People who just bought their shares in December should not have to pay a fee. Chris said the purchase covers one year of hosting. The majority of us have only owned shares for a couple of months at best. He has not paid us for weeks and now he is talking about charging us more money. I'm concerned. If that sounds crazy to you, you might be a shill. Regardless, I'm done talking with you.

It will be great if Chris pays us what we are owed. I would very much like for his operation to be legitimate and successful. If he wants to charge me a pro-rated fee for 1 month of 2014, I'll pay it. Otherwise, we've got some issues to discuss.

The simple fact is no one said you have to pay a fee right now. We haven't seen anything actually. So until then it's pointless to debate on what is basically a speculation Wink

I would give them a 6/7 score. They don't have an affiliate program, the rest is highly suspect.

We paid for 1 year of mining. One year. I just bought my shares at the end of November. I haven't gotten a single payment. A friend and I were given shares as payment twice in early December though we selected payment in LTC. I don't owe Chris maintenance until one year has passed from the date I purchased my shares. That's the policy that we all paid for. Chris never said that he would bill us a tax whenever it suits his purposes. I'm surprised that so many people are willing to pay him a tax when they haven't even been paid what they are owed. It's not our fault that he did not secure his site.

AussieMiner wrote a great post on the LTCGear forum: http://ltcgeartalk.net/index.php?topic=881.msg8915#new

I have given Chris the benefit of the doubt up until now. The fact that he is talking about charging us more money and barely mentioned anything about our back payments really concerns me. In addition, he didn't say anything about the multiplication that we are owed from December 24th. It appears that Chris has been mining huge amounts of LTC during the lull in difficulty and transferring the coins out from his wallets to exchanges. Read AussieMiner's post. Now, he is trying to take a sizable portion of our profit through a "tax" when he hasn't even paid us yet. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Good post by AussieMiner but the chance that Chris reads it is next to zero and the change he acts on it approaching infinitesimal.  Roll Eyes

I'm missing the part where he connected those addresses to Ltcgear...

Seriously, WTF!? So Coinbase opened the exchange EXACTLY like we all knew since yesterday.

The only surprise is the zero fee for the next two months. And the reaction is to dump!?

It says payment is possible for some users, can anyone confirm?

0 % of people active on the forums have a balance.

This is old news Tongue Its fromn yesterday, and what called for the pump.

Barry Silbert has confirmed via twitter (and Wall Street Journal) that Coinbase will be opening the first ever Exchange in the US

https://twitter.com/barrysilbert/status/559469770232569857

Indeed, first ever:

http://howtobuybitcoins.info/us.html

For alot of people this will be the first, one as they will be operating with license to operate in 25 states

The headline on the WSJ article reads - "First U.S. Bitcoin Exchange Set to Open"

I don't disagree that this may (I don't have exact info) be the exchange to be able to serve the largest part of the US population. There have been plenty of them to operate in a handful of states (Kraken for example).

So the title is at least misleading if not outright false.
