Lots of people have been exposed to information about openssl vulnerabilities in the last couple days. Particularly since the detailed response from the bitcoin devs was released. The threat is miniscule to non-existant, but the solution is already available. The reluctance of zeitcoin devs to simply recompile the wallet with an updated openssl library is mind boggling. This is a young coin and people are gauging the effectiveness of each coin's dev team based on their response to this issue.
Fix it. Release updated wallet. Bask in praise.
Don't fix it and tell everyone to get bent and compile their own wallet and people will bail. Not exactly what this coin needs at this time.
Zeitcoin devs are not exactly inspiring confidence.

Not every coin wallet is vulnerable to heartbleed. Zeitcoin wallet is indeed using OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013, but that doesn't automatically mean it's vulnerable as I understand it. That said, mint devs updated their wallet yesterday...

Seems push is for POS coins lately.... Electric bills are still paid in fiat. Mining without using power is attractive.

It stinks that the us seems to be the best place for these garbage companies to operate. Authorities don't seem to give a crap. I have to order from China to deal with a company that's staffed by honorable men/women.

I invested in Blackcoin and Mintcoin.
Blackcoin: I really like the POS and i think this coin has a bright future. Because of the fast rising price of this coin, i made some good profit already. On the other hand, the rapid changing price is like a rollercoaster and feels like i'm playing in a casino. Constantly hoping that the bubble won't burst.
Mintcoin: I invested in this coin because it has a fast growing community and a fast growing number of exchanges and merchants. It's a POS coin like Blackcoin, but gives you a 20% interest for the first year, 15%, second year, 10% next year and 5% the years after that thanks to the minting function of the wallet (the extra coins just pop up after 20 days in your wallet!). Mintcoin has very fast transactions with coin control. I see Mintcoin as a safe long term investment. The price is hovering between 12 and 17 sats for weeks now and reminds me at the beginning of LTC. Ready to explode. Not bad. The 1% stake on bc is just too low to be meaningful. Totally agree with regard to mintcoin. If you look at price charts of hbn or phs it's pretty striking that mintcoin price rarely budges. I'm stacking.

Just feel like saying again what I've said so many times since launch...
This was, is & shall be a coin for the long term, not for the 'espresso traders'.
That seems rather harsh. There are so many coins now it's impossible to keep up without spending large chunks of your days in research...a commitment many cannot make. Though I agree with your perspective, Zeitcoin is just one drop in the ocean of alts to many. Well, maybe our first task is to educate those people that they really SHOULD make an effort to understand what they are mining? I 'got into' cryptos in order to get Btc to buy weed on the darknet, but have since chosen to become a much more sophisticated, efficient & knowledgeable coiner. - I've gone so far as to forswear my 'erb in favour of making my future more secure, even though that REALLY hurts right now. (10 days totally 'straight') If I can do it, anyone else can - I'm not special. lol I feel ya. Everyone has different priorities and commitments though. Heck SOME people are even afraid to get on a motorcycle. As a fellow rider, I'm sure you find the irrational fear of two wheels as baffling as I do. Peace.

With 25% 'interest' in the first year & 20% in the second, who thinks it's right or even sane to do anything other than grab more of it while it's still being held so low?
I'm going to offer a one-million Zeit bounty, to be distributed on 1st September 2015, split equally amongst everyone who (honestly) posts
"I wish I'd understood the dynamics of this coin better & NOT sold all my stash so cheap coz I was too much of an impatient moron to hold on to them like I should have done".
During the week before the distro.
I'm serious. That seems rather harsh. There are so many coins now it's impossible to keep up without spending large chunks of your days in research...a commitment many cannot make. Though I agree with your perspective, Zeitcoin is just one drop in the ocean of alts to many.

I keep asking cryptsy for an eta, but they still don't have one...It's been 5 days. A hamster could've fixed the problem by now. Not the least bit impressed with cryptsy's response. At least they've finally stopped claiming the problem is on my end. It feels like progress.

This coin's inflation rate recently fell by over 78k coins/block to 1/block. Oddly it's not until after that event that the coin dumps really got rolling. I know because I've accumulated more than 1% of the total money supply since that time merely by erecting low ball bid walls on cryptsy. It seems odd that there should be so much dumping on a coin with a healthy 25% stake rate and such a tiny block reward, but at any rate these dumpers will run out of coins to dump and the price will stabilize. The maths for indefinite dumping do not work with a 1 coin block reward and such a low price. I'm standing pat while these guys punch themselves out.

Any update on the heartbleed bug fix for the wallet? Said they were looking into it a couple pages back. There may be more info on their progress at the zeitcoin forums. I haven't checked there for updates yet.

There are some coins trying to 'change the world' right now such as Auroracoin, Mazacoin... The concept of these coins is either taking banks (like the Iceland Central bank) or institutions (like the US Federal govt) head on... But Zeitcoin on the other hand, just seems like a fanclub for people that watched the movies. More than a superficial link to something such as the Venus Project would help as well. As it is I don't see a reason to support this coin. And I have edited together a version of the Zeitgeist films ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL38F982A25DC690C0) and promoted it both on my channel and on a website I used to run so it's not as though I haven't done anything for this Zeitgeist 'movement'. If I'm missing something then by all means fill me in. You could say the same about nearly any crypto. Is litecoin changing the world? I don't see how, it's not even asic resistant anymore, yet it has the second highest market cap. You specifically mentioned Auroracoin, but many see that coin and it's 50% premine as a dubious proposition at best. The coins are going to be airdropped to the little people of Iceland? Really? Seems like it could do a great deal more harm than good if the original plan isn't seen through. Mazacoin is permanently inflationary and it's value is on a steady decline. Sure any of these could change the world, but it seems unlikely. I don't see that they have any greater chance to do so than Zeitcoin. I can't speak for others, but I like Zeitcoin's specifications. I like the hybrid pow/pos distribution model and the potential energy savings they represent and yes I like the Zeitgeist inspired theme as well.

2 satoshi bidwall on mintpal is crumbling.

Seriously, the customers of this industry were hurt multiple times. We understand that it will take time until people will trust us. We don't expect it will be an easy transition.
It's not so much a question of trust, but of risk. Pre-orders that aren't even due for 4 months are a huge risk to the customer. Why are you putting all that risk on the customer for the SP30? That's not how you did the SP10. This

YW. Happy minting.

Yes actually. When you make a pre-order and then expect immediate shipping you are being unreasonable. If you want immediate shipping, don't pre-order. It's simply amazing how many people fail to understand how to do that.
No one has ever been forced to pre-order mining gear. If you don't like it and everything it implies, don't do it. Easy. Done. Thanks. Gadzooks man what's with the trust rating? I think the pre-order thing could work if the company receiving the funds behaved honorably. Unfortunately that doesn't always happen and then the customers have to try to force the company to do what they said they would do.

Why don't you guys pop a Xanax and let economics run itself?

HBN: POS coin with active community and really good dev.
PoS is good .... why you say those devs are really good? Any proofs? Check out the hbn thread. Check out the hbn wallet. The proof is there. Phs dev is likewise pro-active and seemingly always busy protecting and improving philosopherstone.
