Can we even realize the true dimension of this historic event?  Shocked

I doubt it!

PS. In case it wasn't clear by now, Alberto is a confirmed pathological liar whose word and empty promises are worth absolutely nothing. He is also almost certainly a thief and a serial scammer. If not a scammer than inconceivably incompetent. Either way his promise of resolution isn't something to count on; if he pays anything it will be out of fear of what will happen if he doesn't.

Glad you finally see it. Smiley
903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit admins considering bitcoin as a new payment method for their reddit gold on: November 16, 2012, 12:48:55 PM
Well, Reddit you failed in being the first big site to accept bitcoin.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=124482.0

Hurry up, you can still make number two.  Grin

If even Wordpress does it, Reddit simply can't refuse Bitcoin. This would now just appear retarded.

Bitcoin is ideal for businesses like this. It can both easily enable paying for ''extra features'' of the service itself and micro-donations between users.
904  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Date for 25 BTC per Block on: November 16, 2012, 12:38:20 PM
Isnt it rather simple? If a block is found every 10 mins and we only have currently around 1900 blocks left until reward drop. That would mean 316 hours left before the drop happens which is about 13 days.

i wanna know the minute it's set to halve

haha, you will know only after the fact. It's kinda like with radioactive decay: you never know exactly when shit happens and you can only make probabilistic assertions over periods of time.

Hopefully probabilistic uncertainty is the only common property of reward dropping and radioactive decay.  Grin

To keep this on watch.

What's the status, Meni?
906  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDT - 3% weekly interest bond, backed by Bitdaytrade on: October 24, 2012, 11:58:10 AM
He's just delaying and hoping his case will be forgotten.
If that's all he's doing there's no rush. Whatever I can do now I can do in 2 months.

In two months you may think different on this matter.

(No lawyers needed for prosecution by italian authorities. Costs only postage.)
I highly doubt one could just contact them saying this man borrowed bitcoins and not paying them back, and they'll do something about that. How sure are you that they will?

I'm 99% sure. The circumstances make it pretty clear that it is not just "borrowing bitcoins and not paying them back". In addition, there are a lot of victims, the amount of loss clearly exceeds $/EUR 50000, and it seems to have not been his first "activity" of this kind. There are multiple starting points for criminal prosecution. It is not up to us to decide which ones apply. Authorities will do that simply 'cause it's their job.

But I will not comment on this further.
907  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDT - 3% weekly interest bond, backed by Bitdaytrade on: October 23, 2012, 06:45:56 PM
I've talked with some lawyers; unsurprisingly, the bottom line is that going to court would be an expensive process with an uncertain outcome, and as such should be pursued only as a last resort. I will give Alberto another chance to resolve this amicably before going forward with this option.

Alberto says that until more funds can be obtained, he will make payments from a mining operation of a friend of his (I'm still looking into the details of this). Funds will be forwarded to my address http://blockchain.info/address/17r6iGwC9iHBxJzw7nLQEgCcpw7xKWdkid; the amount collected will be tallied until it can be distributed among bondholders. The amounts so far are tiny.

Do you really believe Alberto will resolve this voluntarily? He's just delaying and hoping his case will be forgotten.

He already paid BTC 2.98. That's impressive! Only ~5000 days left to cover his debt at the current repayment rate.

Received. Thank you!

I hope you succeed with AA. Bitcoin needs more working services/businesses.

Handling exactely what accusation ?

A formal accusation is not needed. It's sufficient to bring the facts to attention of the authorities. They'll investigate.

It's not necessary to comment on the other story parts - would be just a waste of time.
912  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY] 6 btc for sketches of Anonymous Ads logo on: October 13, 2012, 02:09:21 PM
Just to convey the idea.

913  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDT - 3% weekly interest bond, backed by Bitdaytrade on: October 13, 2012, 01:20:18 PM
As i already stated, i'm working a process to gather the funds necessary to pay back the cumulated debt. I'll inform Meni once i'm finally ready.

I think it's pointless to expect anything from Alberto - he's just playing the delaying game. He won't pay back voluntarily.

Handing this over to law enforcement authorities ASAP seems to be the best option. He can still pay back to show good will and lower his sentence.
914  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDT - 3% weekly interest bond, backed by Bitdaytrade on: October 11, 2012, 01:39:28 PM
Can BDT bondholders expect any future action by Nefario or Meni?
Yes, but I can't say you can expect the action to be effective.

I will talk to a lawyer (hopefully within 1-2 weeks) to see what can be done. I'm open to suggestions.

From my point of view, criminal prosecution is the only effective option. Even if Alberto will never give back the funds, he will be held liable for his actions. Otherwise he could just start the next scam (and as we know from previously disclosed information, his ''Bitcoin activities'' were not his first questionable activities).

Frankly, I'd love to see him jailed.

Deine Aussage deckt sich aber nicht mit Deinem Footer 'NOT a member of the so called ''Bitcoin Foundation''. Choose Independence!'

Ein moralischer Appell also...  Cheesy

918  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDT - 3% weekly interest bond, backed by Bitdaytrade on: October 06, 2012, 10:39:03 AM
So, another week has passed... meanwhile GLBSE has been shut down and Nefario presumably faces legal consequences for operating it.

Question is:

Has any action been taken to resolve the Alberto case (Nefario announced to take legal action)?

Can BDT bondholders expect any future action by Nefario or Meni?

So since you are the only remaining non-submerged person involved in this - what's the state of affairs, Meni?
919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Counter Announcement to The Bitcoin Foundation on: October 04, 2012, 05:44:28 PM
In addition I'd like to mention that the objections raised against TBF cover more aspects than this single point.

Oh, I'm well aware of that.  I think I've read every single post on these boards regarding the foundation, including (I'm ashamed to admit) the ones from people that I have on my ignore list.  I didn't bother doing much more than laugh at the suggestions that the foundation would make the moon explode, or sterilize dissenters, but I read the posts.
Yes, that is humorous hyperbole, but with just about the right amount of insane to be representative, in my opinion.

The real danger is that the foundation will sputter and stall without getting much done, not that they will do too much, or do the wrong things.  I haven't seen even a single post about a meaningful threat that could possibly come from the foundation.  I've seen lots of handwaving, lots of vague insinuations, lots of paranoia.  Nothing else of note.

You're so right! Against TBF = handwaving, vague insinuations, paranoia. For TBF = enlightened.

Thanks for your time. Nothing more to say to you.
920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Counter Announcement to The Bitcoin Foundation on: October 04, 2012, 05:16:06 PM

Maybe dumb is too harsh.  Maybe they are just too imaginative, and don't have any experience with organizations, or the governance structures they use.  Heh, I'm even nervous writing that, because I expect it to be quoted but not understood.  To be clear, all groups and organizations above the totally informal level have internal governance of some sort, it doesn't mean that they necessarily have or seek power over others.

Maybe - just maybe these dumb people you're referring to have had first hand experience with organizations and the quality of their ''internal governance of some sort'' ?

No, it does not mean ''that they necessarily have or seek power over others''. It is not necessary that they actively seek power over others for certain negative outcomes.

In addition I'd like to mention that the objections raised against TBF cover more aspects than this single point.
