I think Scrpyt ASICs would spoil mining for a whole lot of people and really hope they don't come about.

GPU mining needs to remain feasible for many of the alts to grow.

I thought the whole idea of Bitcoin was to keep things safe from prying eyes.

We should not treat crypto as another investment but as a completely new way of doing things.
644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin really need to *Replace* Fiat? on: December 28, 2013, 04:36:57 AM
As long as we are moving in the right direction - ie Bitcoin becoming more widely used - then we needn't worry about what happens eventually.

Moving in small steps is definitely the way to go.
645  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How are trades conducted here? on: December 28, 2013, 04:31:11 AM
Just be careful when trading - use common sense and if it sounds too good to be true - it is!

Not sure if this is possible.

Lots of people have been having issues with getting money out of Gox.

I would advise trying to contact them repetitively until they respond.

Not fond of ripple at all, it somehow doesn't fit in to what crypto really is!

Why can't people just use Bitcoin instead of all these coins? I don't understand why we need to own all different coins for all kinds of niches.

1. The same reason why we have a diversity of global currencies (USD) (GBP) (JPY) and we have a DIGITAL crypto platform and FIAT working beside each other.
2. The world is a diverse place and the ALT currencies reflect this... would be like say everyone should wear the same cotton shirt or all animals should be cats!
3. The ALTS also allow creative development in the marketplace... for instance Quarkcoin is even safer than BITCOIN in its algorythm...
4. The originators of Bitcoin are the main benefactors in the global explosion of Bitcoin. The ALTS allow new entrepreneurs to share in that wealth if the ideas and brands are reliable and move the market on.

The brands I am developing move the market on, are new creative concepts and introduce innovative diversity to the crypto biosphere.

There are too many alts I'm afraid - diversifying is OK but to such an extreme is just confusing for newbies entering the market. In a way creating new, unnecessary coins deflates the ones already in existence.

Lot's of people have real issue with BTC-e, lost deposits and withdrawals and the likes.

I would not use them, it's a shame as the site is a good one.
