The labor theory of value has been debunked for a long time.

there's the labor theory of value and then there's the labor theory of value

(most of the time it's just misunderstood)

Quite genius, actually. Launch a currency that allows everyone to be tracked under the guise of Libertarian principle?

Well, the whole (US-) "Libertarian principle" is a fad, actually, as they get history wrong again and again. Some say it was introduced on purpose by powerful corporate players. In reality, markets and money did not evolve from voluntary interactions, they were introduced by the force of kings and rulers to get the populace to support soldiers. Required reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debt:_The_First_5000_Years

A market economy and the concept of property rights always require a governmental structure to enforce contracts and protection, and historically, whenever there was no state, the Bourgeoisie created one for themselves to protect their interests. Originally, anarchism (rooted in Europe) was also anti-capitalistic, with the idea of largely self-sustaining (decentralized) communities and supportive, solidary, federative exchange of resources between them. Unlike market-libertarianism, this is a model of society that actually has historic precedence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPl_Y3Qdb7Y / https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism_in_Spain

Apart from that, I don't believe Satoshi is NSA, just an idealist.

Hab 'nen Thread gemacht wegen OT

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg Joins Ripple Labs Advisory Board

Ripple Labs is thrilled to announce that Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg is joining the advisory board. Mr. zu Guttenberg is the Chairman and a Founder of Spitzberg Partners LLC, a New York-based boutique corporate advisory and investment firm that provides strategic counsel and investment insights on European and international political, economic, diplomatic, technology, and security issues.

He served as Minister of Economics and Technology and then as Minister of Defense in the cabinet of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. As the youngest Defense Minister in German history, he led the most significant structural reform of the German armed forces since the Bundeswehr’s founding. During his time in office, Minister zu Guttenberg was Germany’s most popular politician.

One set of challenges that I am primarily interested in relates to political and regulatory affairs. While Bitcoin gained its initial popularity as a pet-project for anarchists, it is my belief that we have moved beyond cryptocurrencies being used as a way to withdrawal from the global financial system.  Therefore, it will be regulated in some form. We see already the first, uncoordinated steps, specifically in Europe.

Tally sticks were not decentralized though. However, given the route Bitcoin is going, yeah, Bitcoin = tally stick Cheesy

They were. No central authority necessarily needed. A direct contract between two parties. Verification provided by nature. You could see from the structure of the wood if the two pieces fit together.

Algeria have beaten (West) Germany before, and while this is a different era the expectation from the Germans is the same.

In fact, Germany has lost all games against Algeria in the entire history.  Cheesy
