41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Browsing Old Bitcoin Forums Blows My Mind on: May 07, 2024, 09:40:31 PM
I also came across many old users that still have around like $50,000,000 in their wallets still but havent been active for years. I wonder if these wallets are abandoned.

That is interesting.  I'm sure that many of them probably are abandoned.  Maybe purposefully, or maybe the users have since died or lost their keys...  One thing is for certain though and that is there are far less BTC in circulation than is thought to exist.  Just how much less is anyone's guess, but I think it's enough to where it has a significant effect on the market cap.  A shame that early on there are so many folks who lost so many precious BTC.  I'm sure that helped establish a growing market early on though.
42  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is more regulation coming to online gambling? on: May 07, 2024, 09:37:29 PM
Obviously with the growth in online gambling more regulation isn't far behind.  There are entire industries that pop up around the regulation of new successful things...  I don't necessarily think that has to be a bad thing though.  Maybe if you don't like gambling, but if you are ok with the moral issues of gambling then I think more regulation will lead to more acceptance into our typical daily lives.  For example, I think it's only a matter of time before everyone can gamble on the phones on any sporting event.  They just have to move slow to make sure all their ducks are in a row, but it's coming for sure.
43  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 07, 2024, 09:32:04 PM
I just had an interesting conversation with some 20-something year olds about Bitcoin.  They told me that it is a scam, it's not real money, there's no reason to own it, etc...  I was actually pretty surprised because they looked like just the type of folks who would be embracing crypto.  I then asked them what they thought of the Cybertruck and they told me that it was ugly and the only electric cars worth buying are from Lucid Motors.  They then proceeded to tell me that what I should be doing is finding ways to get the lowest interest loans possible to use that capital for investments and offered to help me finance my house.  I wish I was joking, but this is 100% a true story.  Reminded me of the Ohio State graduation video that's going around.  Is Bitcoin just for boomers now?
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: May 07, 2024, 09:23:40 PM
I decided to push it a little bit today and got a set of 55 push-ups in.  That's the first time I've done more than 50 push-ups in a single set since starting this challenge.  I feel like a psychological barrier has been broken.  I wanted to stop at 50 but knew I had a little left in the tank.  I think my new short term goal is to reach BTC's price in thousands with push-ups in a single set.  I missed it by 8 today, but I'll get there.  I'll also try to start remembering to report more often for the sake of running this thread up to ridiculous proportions.

45  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Neymar being addicted to online poker on: May 07, 2024, 09:16:05 PM
I think people are making a lot of assumptions about this guy's life and what's going on.  It could be something far less serious.  Maybe he's sponsored and had to meet some sort of quota or something.  Would it be as crazy of him to be doing that if you knew it was going to make him six or seven figures?  I doubt the guy is just out there neglecting his family to play poker without any reason.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd bet that he has a good reason to be doing what he's doing and I doubt it's because he has an addiction that he's trying to feed.
46  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: May 07, 2024, 06:09:41 PM
I've got a couple bets for today and I feel somewhat good about the odds here.  I'm not sure why Boston is expected to destroy the Cavs by so much, but I don't think they'll beat them by 15+...  We'll see...  I like my chances today.

Boston Celtics - Cleveland Cavaliers
Handicap (Incl. Overtime)
Cleveland Cavaliers (14.5)

Odds
1.75

Oklahoma City Thunder - Dallas Mavericks
Winner (Incl. Overtime)

47  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can the Twolves sweep the Nuggets? on: May 07, 2024, 05:35:52 PM
I think it’s possible but it’s also possible Denver comes back and wins the series. Personally I think they win 4-2 because I don’t think Denver goes down without winning a game or two. You can already see their frustrations so if something doesn’t change they are going to be eliminated. Denver needs to win game 3 bad…
48  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 07, 2024, 05:34:33 PM
The Timberwolves definitely had them frustrated. Jamal Murray might even receive a suspension or a fine for his behavior in throwing the heat pack on the floor. He deserves it. Giving off Klay Thompson watching the dynasty fade away vibes. Denver is a great team, they just unfortunately got matched with the best team in basketball early in the playoffs.

Dominican Mitchell really came through for the Cavs. That guy has another gear when it comes to the playoffs. If he were a couple inches taller… I wonder where he’ll end up next year.

If the Cavs didn't win that game 7, for sure, Donovan Mitchell will surely be leaving the Cavs in free agency, but good for them, they win the game and they'll be facing the Celtics for the 2nd round matchup, and for this, I can see the Celtics winning this easily. I am not saying that the Cavs aren't that good, but the Celtics are just more talented, and the only problem for them is that they tend to choke some games, but I think it won't be happening here early in the playoffs. If the Cavs get ever beaten by the Celtics, it is a sad moment for Donovan. Dude can't get past the 2nd round all of the years he's been playing. So you might really see Donovan leaving the Cavs. What team do you think should pursue Donovan this offseason?

Autocorrect. lol. Im not sure what team should get him. His size is honestly a pretty big drawback but he’s an amazing playoff competitor. I think maybe a team like Miami or Philly.

Looking forward to seeing game 2 between Denver and Minnesota tonight…

we agreed here that we won't be posting our report everyday
We did?  I missed that one.

At first it seemed unnecessary, but now I’m all for going full Wall Observer on this thread.  Cheesy

The Magic are starting to pull away. Cleveland better get it together or their season is about to end. They need some Donovan Mitchell playoff magic but so far he’s shooting 20% from the field so this Cavs experiment is about to end I think.

Ant getting 43 points on 59% shooting carried the Timberwolves tonight. If he keeps this up the Timberwolves go all the way.

I’m watching this Minnesota Timberwolves vs Denver Nuggets game and Anthony Edwards looks like he’s trying to do something special. The Nuggets have battled back into the lead after being down huge in the first few minutes. It seems like Denver has the momentum now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthony Edwards ends this game with 50.

I feel like the two best teams in the NBA right now are the Nuggets and the Timberwolves. They’re facing off in a few hours on TNT. It might only be the second round of the playoffs, but in my opinion it might as well be the NBA Finals. I believe whoever wins this series will become the NBA Champions and I think it could go either way.
56  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Arizona moves to repel abortion ban but Trump could make it US wide on: May 03, 2024, 10:35:52 PM
Why spread misinformation and lies? Is it because you’re ignorant and have no idea what you’re talking about? Did you just make this up and decide to post it thinking it was smart? Are you laughably misinformed by some liberal propaganda machine posing as a news outlet?

Trump is about state rights and has said time and again that the Federal government should stay out of the abortion issue. Pretending he wants to rule one way or another federally about abortion is idiotic.

The problem is that Trump can say what is convenient during the campaign and do what is convenient during the presidency. It would not be the first time that he changes the discourse. That is one of the problems of being so unstable.

But in the end what matters is the electoral support. He will chose whatever delivers his goals and if a sufficient number of Republicans are in favour of a national ban he will have no issue exchanging that for some other crazy legislation of his choice.

I literally just told you that Trump has stated many times that this is a state issue and not a federal issue and then you come out and say the same lies… Let me say it again because it clearly isn’t sinking in. Donald Trump has 0 intention of banning abortion nationwide and has repeatedly said it will be left up to the states.

You know who is interested in a nationwide abortion ruling? Joe Biden. Why do Democrats always accuse others of doing what they’re trying to do?

Grayscale’s GBTC fund having net inflows for the first time since the launch of ETFs… I’m not even sure how this happened. You’d think investors wanting to pour money into funds would pick the ones that are growing or have low fees. I might have to look into this a bit and figure out what happened because I’m having trouble wrapping my mind around it right now.

The Lakers have fired Darvin Ham. Jokic has fired one more person. Now the Lakers need to rebuild. And it looks like LeBron is leaving the team. They might not make the playoffs for many years.

Tonight the Cavs and Mavs will play to end the series. I'm not sure if it will go to Game 7 or if the series will end today. Maybe the Magic can hold on to the series at home, but if the Mavs don't win today, Game 7 will be very difficult for them.

Yeah lebrons only move is to go to a top contender.  What's the point now to start on a rebuild team.  If I had a spot for a good landing it would be the Pelicans.  They are one or 2 pieces away from being a title contender if you ask me.  That and a healthy zion.  Or I can see him coming back to the east and finish with the cavs and maybe go for one more shot with them with his hometown team.

A little crazy that they seemingly blamed Darvin Ham for the Lakers issues. I think Rob Pelinka deserves most of the blame. I’m hearing lots of talk in Phoenix about the Suns trading Booker and picking up LeBron to pair with KD, or KD going to the Lakers to pair with LeBron. Probably just nonsense talk, but I’d love to see those 2 link up.

One thing I didn’t expect to see but have been enjoying quite a bit is all the protesters and counter-protestors finally finding some common ground. The videos of both sides during protests chanting “Fuck Joe Biden” in unison gives me hope that maybe this country is starting to heal itself. Only 8 more months of this nonsense before we can get competent leadership back in the White House.
