I heard if you sell all your BTC while in the shadow of the eclipse that you’ll be able to buy it back later for less. Sounds shady to me though. I’d advise waiting for a brighter opportunity.

283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mixers and their reason to exist in the bitcoin ecosystem on: April 07, 2024, 07:26:42 PM
Months ago someone had posted here with some evidence that the mixing of the a mixing service was inadequate to mask transactions but nobody seemed to take it seriously.

It's weird how many users on this forum were ready to overlook on-chain evidence while the platform in question was pumping thousands of USD every week in advertising directly towards forum users at the time. Now that there's some credible accusations of fraud it's hard to ignore these older accusations.

It was proven that mixers are useless for large amounts.  They're basically used for people here to launder their signature funds so they feel safe evading taxes or for small time scammers to deposit money with 3rd parties without worrying about having their accounts traced back to the scam.

The amount of gaslighting from paid signature campaign members was crazy though.  Still is.  I even told them right before ChipMixer shut down that it was going to be shut down and instead of praise I received attacks for the warning even after I was proven right.  That's when I realized these people are insane and willing to do or support anything for a paycheck.  The fact the forum had to ban these programs to get users to stop promoting money laundering is crazy in itself.  Unfortunately, Default Trust was owned by ChipMixer basically, so they were able to get away with anything here.  It will take a long time and a lot of new members before the Mixer crowd gets diluted enough in DT for anything to change.  A lot of people here will do or say anything for money.  Don't forget that.  They'll even try to convince you they didn't sell out to support a money laundering organization and will try to tell you it's a privacy thing, which after the first sentence I quoted above should be nonsense to anyone paying attention.

I've been wanting to try Helldivers 2 but am hoping it comes to xbox at some point as that's where my friends are that I play games with.  I game a couple nights a week with a group of friends I've had for 30 years and it's a great way to stay in touch.  We're usually playing Call of Duty (zombies) because we like cooperative games where we can kill things, but I've been known to play games like Rocket League (made Lauda rage quit when we played), or basically anything with PvP that I can play alongside my buddies on a team.  I never play single player games though.  I consider them a complete waste of time and would rather be working out or building something as opposed to playing alone.

Cool idea.  I'm really happy with the direction this thread is taking.  I feel like it has taken on a life of it's own and you will all keep it going with stories of your transformations and improvements.  Seeing people propose formats and everyone being so positive...  I really hope we see more things grow from this.  This is a good step forward and I'm on board with selecting a format to improve this challenge.  Lets see how far we can take this thing!

0 push-ups so far today.  About to change that.  Smiley

13 games today! Wow! For those who like making long parlays, here is your chance to boost that multiplier from hundreds to maybe thousands.

I never miss an opportunity for a good parlay.  This late in the season it is sort of an anything goes period, so parlays are extra dangerous.  Probably why the odds are so good on this one with all favorites being selected.  I might pick all the games of the day with a tiny parlay bet just for fun, but we've entered the time period when the smart move is probably betting all the longest odds and hoping for an upset, which is quite common this time of year.

Seems like the light is shining on the women’s college tournament at the moment. Games are breaking all viewing records and so far the tournament has been a disappointment. It all ends today for the women with a championship game. I think it is good timing as well. The end of the NBA season is more about getting rest than preparing for the playoffs in my opinion.

Edit: Congrats to South Carolina for overcoming Caitlin Clark. I know all the WNBA players were hoping she’d lose…
288  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical items, coins etc.. || Issue related question ??! on: April 06, 2024, 06:12:06 PM
^ Seems like weak reasoning to me. Anyone could get an address from another user or buy a coin and do it so not publishing a list actually solves nothing at all. Certainly buying a coin that you’ll empty is cheaper than manufacturing coins and holograms, which has a high cost. It would be 10000x easier and cheaper to buy a Casascius coin and compromise the hologram, then reattach and sell, draining the funds in transit than to try and manufacture one from scratch using a found address. I also don’t think manufactured fakes are a realistic concern when buying from trusted individuals, which should always be the case. However, what is a real concern is makers like yogg or hodl having coins that should be funded which aren’t. We know this because of the addresses. There are also users who don’t post their list of addresses because they lack basic skills, foresight, or they are inflating their sales numbers to try and dupe potential buyers. All red flags. Whoever told you otherwise is likely grasping at straws because they’re guilty of one of the 3 options I just listed.

He has already done enough.
Let him have a rest before he wake up for next bull run.

Indeed. We have to allow the market some time to punish those sitting in leverage until they can’t take it anymore and abandon their trade. It also has the bonus of letting the non-believers get tired of waiting to get rich so they dump their coins. Bitcoin is great at not rewarding the fly by night traders or leveraged degens. We will all have our faith tested at some point by BTC.
290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 06, 2024, 05:50:20 PM
[...]The defensive play was right, double Curry, rotate the defense, and Klay had a hard time to set his feet for the last shot so he missed it.
No doubt that was a good defense but the bad inbound pass from Paul started this. It disrupted Curry's rhythm somehow and the delay from the extra ball bounce also allowed the Irving to help in time.

Guys, I just notice that the 1st seed spot on Western conference is tie. This is my first time noticing a tie on the top spot. Assuming their score will be tie at the end of the regular season how does NBA decides who will get the spot.
There are plenty of tie breakers. The first to be looked at is their head-to-head record for the season. Wolves is currently ranked no. 1 since they are leading the H2H matchup by two games to one. The next criteria is their standings in their own division. https://ak-static-int.nba.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/06/NBA_Tiebreaker_Procedures.pdf

Good information. I was going to answer with only the head to head record but you took it a step further. Always great to share information with others so we can all be aware of the finer points in the game. This is why *some* matchups during the regular season actually get players to give their max effort. Although it doesn’t happen often.

Exceptionally bad picks from me today.  Looks like only 1 of them hit and the rest were all losers.  Not good when they all needed to win in order to get the W.  Strange night in the NBA.  I think teams are probably getting themselves ready for the playoffs.  No reason I can think of why the Spurs would beat the Pelicans and the Bucks would lose to the Raptors.  I haven't dug into the stats or anything, but something definitely seems a little off.  Betting on the rest of the season is going to be a crap shoot.
292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 05, 2024, 08:05:29 PM
Reports saying that Donovan Mitchell will decline his player option for the final year of his contract 25-26.  This shouldn't come as too big of a surprise as I don't think he ever wanted to be in Cleveland in the first place, but now he's come out and said that he's going to be playing somewhere else (by declining the contract offer) when his contract is up.  The amount of money he is turning down to play with the Cavaliers another season?  $37,000,000.  This also gives the Cavs plenty of time to find him a new home next year with a trade before they lose him for nothing.  This is likely the reason he's saying now that he's going to decline the player option.  He wants to get traded to a contender next year and not waste another season in Cleveland while also not leaving the Cavs wondering what he's going to do.
293  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: April 05, 2024, 07:53:45 PM
Today marks 6,400 push-ups for me.  I'm glad I pushed through the pain as I'm feeling much better these days.  I've even had to add in more workout routines as only doing 100 push-ups per day has gotten too easy.  Now to see if I can replicate the same type of success with the rest of my body.  I still haven't done more than 50 in a single set yet, but I probably could if I wanted to.  I'm switching up my reps every day.  Usually it's something like 25/25/25/25 or 40/30/20/10 but I've found when I was doing the same thing every day it got more difficult to remember, so I try to keep things unique daily.  I still like the idea of doing 100 push-ups in a single set when BTC hits $100,000 and will make a solid effort get there.

I have only been able to 55 pushups 4 or 5 times and 54 pushups once.   Frequently I try to push to do as many as I can, and I tend to end up in the 40-45 range, so every once in a while I can do more than that.. .pretty rare as you see..   there may have been a few times that I still have gas in the tank, but I don't necessarily want to push it.. or there might be other times that I cannot even do 40 pushups.. but that is also starting to be pretty rare too..

As far as remembering, I just write it down right away.. so that I don't forget.

I haven't tried to go beyond 50 at a time yet and it's been a week or two probably since I went to 50.  40 has gotten pretty normal and 20 feels like nothing now.  I should probably try pushing myself to see how many I can do just to get a feel for how far away I am from 100 at once, but I'll wait until after the halving for that.

I should probably write my push-ups down too.  This has become just as much an exercise of my memory recall as it has been my chest muscles.

I will say that I'm a bit surprised at the visual effect this has had on my core.  I didn't expect to build *** gutters from this challenge.
294  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical items, coins etc.. || Issue related question ??! on: April 05, 2024, 05:49:06 PM
If keys are generated by makers, then they’d be smart to not release the public string of keys list(s), which also goes against conventional thinking around here, but after speaking with a prominent maker who doesn’t release theirs, I completely understand and see why, now. Just one more potential attack point.

I'm curious what reason a maker could give for this other than their own laziness or lack of foresight.  The ETFs and large exchanges have even started posting their addresses for proof of reserves.  In my opinion, there is no reason at all why a maker wouldn't release their list of addresses unless A) they didn't think of it or B) they have something to hide.  Not thinking about it is fine, but we can't start pushing the narrative that makers are doing their customers a favor by not publishing their list of addresses.  That's nonsense.  I actually think the opposite.  If a maker didn't think about this beforehand, what else didn't they think about?  If they say there is potential danger with publishing the list, are they hiding something, or they just don't understand Bitcoin?  Either way, red flag.

The certificate for your website doesn't appear to be up to date which causes an error when people try to go there to check out the site.  This is a pretty common problem with new websites and there are solutions, some open source and free that can take care of this issue for you.  I highly recommend looking into it and fixing the certificate issue so that users aren't being warned when going to the site.  I'd prioritize this over more advertising because you don't want users to have a bad first impression.  Hope that helps.  Good luck!
296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Article from Coindesk. Are Bitcoin Developers Losing Faith in Lightning? on: April 05, 2024, 05:25:43 PM
If I'm not wrong people were talking about the same thing almost a year ago and what's new? Lightning Network can't solve Bitcoin scaling issues because if it could it would have been implemented. This is just a positive step towards solving the scaling issue but in my opinion it's now worth it.

Bitcoin has done pretty well and now again halving is near and people are discussing this type of shit so that they can prevent the growth of BTC but it won't be possible and it's just a waste of time. People know that by establishing side chains BTC will solve scaling issue it's not dependent on LN networks.

Ordinals drove the point home that Lightning Network is not going to solve anything and will create new problems for users.  Not to mention the whole thing basically requires you to use a 3rd party which made it dead on arrival as an idea.

It is nice to hear someone mention side chains (merged mined chains) as a solution.  I think people overlook that satoshi literally gave us an answer to the scaling problem as well as the internet censorship issue with merged mining and Namecoin.  If this was built upon to include merged mining chains for lower cost and faster solutions, NFT storage, data storage, smart contracts, etc. we would have seen Bitcoin mining explode in profitability while developers continued working with Bitcoin and not against it.  Unfortunately, Blockstream had a "scaling solution" they wanted to push and that made it so instead of everything being merged mined and working with Bitcoin, altcoins exploded and took away vital resources and talent from Bitcoin while causing a lot of drama and mistrust that still echoes in the community today.
297  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical items, coins etc.. || Issue related question ??! on: April 05, 2024, 05:18:48 PM
This is why many/most makers who make loaded items do not offer loose/DIY holograms.

Indeed.  Once a loose hologram is out there in the world your coins are pretty much toast as far as the original idea behind them not being compromised is concerned.  As people are pointing out though, they were never totally safe to begin with.  That's why I usually try to buy things directly from the maker if that option is still available.  You just never know who could be pulling a confidence scam around here and there have been plenty so you can't even be sure things are safe when buying directly from the maker.  So many ways to lose, you have to be careful.  I actually think if someone is selling something and being overly nice to community members, that is a red flag (one I'll never be accused of).
298  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Silver 1 BTC Casascius Coin 2013 GRADED ICG MS67 PL on: April 05, 2024, 05:12:17 PM
Bump... Still open to offers on this one!

What do you consider a reasonable offer? I'm pretty sure I remember this coin sold for 1.4BTC when Bitcoin was below $30k. Bitcoin is now $66k.

And? These are getting harder and harder to find on the market. 1.5BTC is a steal in my eyes, I wouldn't let mine go for anything close to that

Casascius coins still don't get the respect they deserve in my opinion.  Probably because a lot of them were given away early on so there are a lot of people who have them and don't value them, leading to lots of sales at low prices (in BTC terms).  I don't see anything on the horizon that will reverse the BTC premiums on these coins dropping, but I do know that a day will eventually come when you can't find them for any price and they will be coveted.  Who knows what the catalyst will be.  Maybe a celebrity will fall in love with them or some rich Saudi Prince...  Maybe this year or two decades from now.  I'm certain the day will come.  The question is when and who will be left holding?  Will you be able to resist peeling if BTC hits $500K or $2M?
