581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the biggest airdrop you've ever received? on: March 06, 2024, 07:37:37 PM
I received an airdrop that I staked several years ago and then eventually turned into ETH and left staked.  It is now worth over $45,000!!!  Granted, it also led me down the path of web3 which easily probably cost me the loss of half that much, but who knows, maybe those NFTs will be worth something someday (wishful thinking).  I'm not mad at it at all though.  I still get something like $3 per day from having this staked and since it's now in Ethereum, the recent gains are also impressive.  I'm very glad I decided to claim that airdrop after coming across it by chance.  I'll probably leave that ETH staked for many more years to come.
582  Economy / Speculation / Re: Digital currencies are soaring, once again, but not every cryptocurrency on: March 06, 2024, 07:16:49 PM

Hah! trying to find this in english (rather than just using a translation of the site) I stumbled onto this article.

The Motley Fool

Quote
Bitcoin

The third cryptocurrency to avoid like the plague in March is none other than the largest and best-known digital currency by market cap, Bitcoin (BTC -2.89%). Bitcoin has nearly quadrupled in value since the start of 2023.

https://www.fool.com/investing/2024/03/05/3-cryptocurrencies-to-avoid-like-plague-in-march/

Looks like this retarded site is living up to its name!

Wonder if they are going to quote Cramer next?

as far as I remember I have never ever read a single positive article on Bitcoin from that outlet.  They were already bearish when BTC was under 1k$.. You think they would reconsider their pov being wrong all the time...  But yeah the name checks out..

I seriously ask myself if that's a troll outlet like the bee, but in disguise

Well, they missed the Bitcoin call and they're an organization focused on bringing you the next bit investment.  So I'd imagine this whole Bitcoin and crypto rise is a bit of an egg on their face moment.  Of course they've going to keep doubling down until a correction eventually comes and they can proclaim themselves as the ones who got it right...  Ridiculous, but that's how these outfits operate.  They've got to focus on finding the next Bitcoin, which means trying to steer funds from Bitcoin into their picks.  You see this same behavior on this forum with new coin makers.  They bash the established makers to try and steer customer funds to their own products.  It's nothing new.
583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: LISTED gambling companies to invest in on: March 06, 2024, 07:13:31 PM
This is interesting.  I wish more gambling companies were public, but they're such cash cows I can understand why people would rather keep them private.  Especially when it comes to the lower cost of operation when operating online.  I'd invest in operations like Stake in a heartbeat if I were able to, but with owners on the younger side of things (I believe) it's unlikely that they'll be looking to cash out their company by taking it public anytime soon.  Who knows though.  Coinbase was able to take the next step from crypto to public markets, others could follow suit in time.
584  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Graet.Loan - Paying 0.05% interest daily on: March 06, 2024, 06:33:07 PM
Don't know wether scammer are still causing harm to the world, and don't know wether  good people will receive good rewards.
Ten years have passed, am I the only one still concerned about this matter?  ru0chen@qq.com

I've reread everything and I understand why you're still here. I'm sorry that you lost a lot of money, I hope that he will be rewarded for it.

This post makes me think perhaps there is a chance that some of the lenders could receive SOMETHING.

I believe there is no money to be had at this time - but if the mtgox administrators actually return some percentage of the BTC - there may be enough to warrant chasing him through legal channels.

If/when the mtgox insolvency is wound up - I'd be interested in pursing this by pushing Graeme Tee to either reach an agreement - or declare bankruptcy.

Is there more information on how much money Jon had in mtgox?  Now that distribution is soon to be on the way, this is something that should be looked at again.  So much money was scammed through these fundraising sites early on.  It would be absolutely amazing to get something back.  It's been so long though, does anyone even have the owner's list of who is still owed money?  I think it might even be public somewhere, but it's been years...  As an investor in this project at one point in time, I'm curious to know if anyone is still investigating this.  With all the heat my project gets for continuing on after the collapse of these sites, it amazes me how those who just scammed and ran got away clean.
585  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 06, 2024, 06:22:36 PM
MicroStrategy decided that $600,000,000 wasn't enough money to spend on BTC so they have now upped their convertible debt offering to $700,000,000.  This is most certainly going to have an effect on the market price of Bitcoin.  I would assume at least a couple thousand dollars.

Article: https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2024/03/06/microstrategy-upsizes-convertible-debt-offering-to-700m-to-buy-even-more-bitcoin/

No word yet on how much Blackrock will be buying for their other investment funds, but I'm assuming they won't be doing anything conservatively.

"looking to raise $700 million through the sale of convertible seniors notes at an interest rate of 0.625% per annum" - That's a pretty crazy rate for the current environment.  Saylor has to be feeling pretty good about his Bitcoin bet at the moment.  Especially given where we are in the cycle and the price action we're already seeing.
586  Other / Meta / Re: Provision for increasing available merit every year by some amount on: March 06, 2024, 06:11:38 PM
Is there a provision for increasing available merit every year by some amount? This is needed because new members are also joining the forum daily and thus the available merits quantity should be adjusted accordingly.

It sounds like you're saying that inflation is needed for a growing society.  Smiley

I personally don't like the whole merit sources thing but understand that it would get abused if it were fairly distributed to everyone.  I digress...

There is a certain level of inflation built into the system naturally, as people can send merits to others just by earning them (and amounts are raised if all merits are used).  I think your comment assumes that merit doesn't get recycled, but it does and quite heavily among certain subsets of users on these boards.  Due to these fundamentals, I would assume that merit numbers will continue to grow.  The only way it doesn't is if merit sources aren't distributing all their merits, which I am guilty of.
587  Economy / Gambling / Re: An open letter to Eddie from Stake with lots of shares on Reddit on: March 06, 2024, 05:59:33 PM
The letter has deleted and I don't why. And some the comments I Saw there were interesting. "Stake is operated by human" oh yes and that is why the message or the letter was deleted from there. And if " Stake is banned, nothing changed". These are so.e of the comments there. And that is true because the company who did the thing is still exist therefore nothing changed from their crime. This is wat I saw in the link the Op provided for us to read before making any comments but we came late so the message has been deleted.
Op I don't what is in your mind, whether to op the thread keep foe people to make comments without knowing the content of the thread or to lock it if I will advise, you should lock the thread because the main message which the letter made you to create the thread has been deleted.

I would've liked to have read the letter and I'm a little disappointed that OP didn't at the very least quote it in the OP so that we could all have a chance to read it.  Did anyone manage to keep it?  I'm curious to have read it as people seem to be saying there were some good points in there, but I don't know even what the overall tone was about.  From the comments it seems like the author was upset that Stake pays people to promote for their service?  There's definitely worse things than paying people to promote your service, especially when it's entertainment.  I for one am glad that Stake gives back so much money to the community.  They even allow promoters to use their own referral link.  First class operation.
588  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1hodlclub coins not loaded on: March 06, 2024, 05:54:34 PM
What if he run out fuel and doesnt have sats to fund our coins. This remind me of someone here wont name it.

I will go ahead and do that for you because I don't mind kicking hornet nests.  I believe you're talking about Yogg.  I thought for a second you might be talking about Bitcoin Penny, but it appears he releases new preorders to pay for the preorders he already sold but didn't mint (my understanding), which isn't a funding issue but a Ponz*cough*...  I think the concerns you're mentioning above could likely be put to rest by 1hodl if he just posted a public address where enough BTC was being held to fund all the coins, but that's not something buyers can demand after the fact and there would be nothing stopping that address from being emptied at any time.  In hindsight, an escrow agent acting as a middleman would have solved THIS issue, but when we're talking about funded coins, a rug pull from the creator could happen at any time.  Only the test of time can prove that one.
589  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good news= up in price while bad news = down in price. on: March 06, 2024, 05:39:04 PM
Ever since the insane response to the 9/11 attacks by massively lowering rates, the people in control have been addicted to printing money and tossing it to their friends.  We saw the response to 9/11 cause the housing boom, which resulted in the bust that led to more insane stimulus from 2008-2012, then as that money started to dry up they tossed the pandemic out there in 2020 to print the mother of all stimulus packages.  As things begin to normalize from that nonsense, we're now seeing a massive push in the name of global warming which could potentially even dwarf the amount of money printed during the pandemic.  So everyone is now aware that bad news brings opportunities for investment and in the end it's the currency that will be debased as a result.  That's bullish for everything denominated in dollars.
590  Economy / Speculation / Re: A new ATH before halving. Is it possible? on: March 06, 2024, 05:27:00 PM
While we did technically hit a new all time high, I don't really consider it that yet.  It was only at that price level for a matter of minutes.  We need a really concrete move above $70K to really show people that the new high is in and it's rally time.  I'm still worried that risk is to the downside in the immediate term, but hopefully retail can continue scooping up coins while we wait for the big boys at Blackrock and Microstrategy to bring in another wave of capital.  I still think $200K is in the cards for next year, but hope there aren't too many shake outs along the way.
591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Pattern that 99.9% Leads to Bankruptcy: High Rolling on Slots! on: March 06, 2024, 05:23:51 PM
When it comes to gambling it is almost a certainty that you will lose.  That's just the way the odds are set.  If you play long enough, no matter what happens, you will lose.  Sure, you might hit a big win somewhere in there, but it is the anomaly.  The only way to really win when it comes to gambling is to get out ahead.  This is why successful gamblers usually have a dollar amount in their head and if they win that amount they walk away.  Gambling is truly one of the activities where you only win when you walk away.  That isn't to say there aren't those who make riches before walking away, but in the end, it's knowing when to walk away that earns people gambling winnings.
592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 06, 2024, 05:21:18 PM
I lost yesterday's parlay by a single point as the Cavs beat the Celtics by 1...  Today I'm going with a little longer odds in hopes to make up for some of the recent catastrophe that is my gambling picks.

I feel good about the Magic and the Thunder.  The Cavs are the only underdog in this parlay, but they've been playing great lately and the Hawks have been playing without ice trae, so maybe the Cavs will get them today.

Washington Wizards - Orlando Magic
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Orlando Magic

Houston Rockets - Los Angeles Clippers
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Los Angeles Clippers

Atlanta Hawks - Cleveland Cavaliers
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Cleveland Cavaliers

Portland Trail Blazers - Oklahoma City Thunder
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Oklahoma City Thunder

593  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: March 06, 2024, 04:43:28 PM
Why did you pay more than 6 BTC?
Because Tesla (and all electric vehicles) is one big ponzi scheme and clown Elon tricked many people by adding, then removing Bitcoin support from tesla website, and dumping bitcoin.
Everything about Elon is fake, but if some people like to waste money aka bitcoin on steel junk that will become useless soon, go for it.

I am in the same boat.  I have a very low order number, ordered it within minutes of the prices being shown.  I have the ability to configure in my account now, but don't want to spend $20k extra and lose the $7500 federal tax credit.  In other words its $27k penalty to order now.

Of course someone just sold one for $200k plus.

Damn, you could buy it and don’t? That’s crazy. You get full self driving, lifetime premium connectivity, and a few other things thrown in with that $20K. In reality, it’s probably only a $12K penalty to get it early and you could sell it for a profit and rebuy one when the price drops probably for free before you wait for a regular invite. Only reason I’m OK with waiting is because I think I’ll end up paying less than 1 BTC for mine the way things are going, but if I got the email invite I’d configure immediately.

What was the first 5 digits of your preorder number? I’m 11322.

While I have purchased my last six vehicles brand new, the most expensive one was $23k (MSRP $27k).  I was doing a 'Tesla stretch' to get the $50k cybertruck.  I would still be buying at $67k now, but $100k ($106k with taxes) is just too much.  Bitcoin is the wildcard though.  I would not need to sell any to buy in my budget as stated.  And that is the point for me, being responsible based on my own finances.  Yes, I still have considered splurging and selling Bitcoin to get it, but don't think I will.

I will probably be ordering a lowest priced inventory model Y before the end of March, getting me new wheels for $35k, making the $106k even more crazy.

RN11274xxxx

Totally understandable. Thinking about it, I guess there is a big risk if you did buy, by the time you take delivery they aren’t selling at a premium anymore. If it doesn’t fit your financial plan, it doesn’t fit. If you don’t have anyone giving you a referral for that model Y, let me know. 3 free months of auto-pilot and me a step closer to getting one of these beasts to showcase for the community.

Thanks for posting your order number. I’m still so far…

Anyone reading this topic using a small cell phone screen? you are a hero!

I always assume everyone is reading this topic using a small cellular phone while using the bathroom. Is it just me?

Doesn’t matter what you’re using to look at this market though. The blinding color of neon green jumping out at you is unmistakeable. The correction lasted a day and we’re back in rally mode. $69K will break soon…
595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 06, 2024, 04:35:11 PM
The western play-in would be historic (I know it sounds funny, but it really is). The Kings, Mavs, Lakers, and Warriors are all on the play-in spot. Kings at the 7th, Mavs at the 8th, Lakers and Warriors at the 9th and 10th. If the playoffs will start right now, Lakers would play the Warriors, Mavs will the play Kings. The winner of the match against the Lakers vs. Warriors will play the loser in the Mavs vs. Kings. The crazy thing is that the standings of these teams are just close to each other. One loss and one win can affect their fate in the upcoming playoffs. We include the Suns in here too, as they are just two wins ahead of the 7th seed. With a few games left in the season, every game counts for these teams.

What do you think will be the final spot for these teams?

Ya, if the play-in started today it would be one hell of a tournament. Those are all teams I follow and enjoy watching, not to mention they’re all very close to my market. Toss the Suns and the Clippers in there and it’s basically every NBA team surrounding me. I’m sure it’ll change over the next 21 games though.
596  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC created new ATH before Halving: are you surprised? on: March 06, 2024, 04:40:59 AM
I’m surprised because on the face it seems like this is something that hasn’t been done before. However, once you understand that the market was artificially depressed due to Sam Bankman-Fried’s nonsense fraud, you realize that it isn’t that surprising. Just imagine that the FTX collapse didn’t happen and Bitcoin hit $135K last cycle if you want the pattern and the behavior we’re seeing now to make sense.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 06, 2024, 04:38:14 AM
Alperen Sengun just put up numbers that no center in history has done before against Wemby. At the same time he held Wemby to 10 points. Every once in a while somebody really exposes Wemby for being young and thin. Tonight was one of those nights. Wemby is still having a hell of a year though and my pick for rookie of the year.
598  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase App Store rank as a market top indicator on: March 05, 2024, 08:48:13 PM
Coinbase on the App store is finally starting to accelerate rapidly.

2 days ago it was around 150 Rank
1 day ago it broke the 100 rank at 84

Now its standing at 44 Rank.

If this keeps up most likely next week we might be in the Top 10.

Whenever we are #1 we usually put in a top in crypto, give or take a week or two.

Something to keep an eye for.

Hitting top 10 in the App Store will bring new eyes on Bitcoin in itself. Granted not enough to move the market or anything, but these are the sorts of actions that have a halo effect and bring in new users that might not have ever even heard about Bitcoin otherwise. I’m glad to see it is still rising.
599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the highest amount of money you've ever bet in a single game? on: March 05, 2024, 08:44:18 PM
Some of you guys are some high risk high reward folks. I usually only bet around $5-10 so that it doesn’t really make a difference what the outcome is. I do recall betting $200 on a football game against the cowboys on Thanksgiving several years ago and winning big. The biggest gamble I’ve even been involved with was a pot of Acey Ducey at a friend’s house that got up into the thousands. I lost, but only a hundred or so of the $ was mine.
600  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 05, 2024, 08:31:18 PM
Just a 20% ish haircut

We are used to get those….
Meanwhile watching season 2 of Halo and I like it.

Even being used to it, it still hurts. This is pretty typical behavior after a market top, which is concerning. Ignoring the outside factors and just being a chartist, I would say we will most certainly gap back down to $59K and retest which way the market wants to go there. If it defends the double bottom, it could go back up. I think the market wants to go down now though. If I were a trader I wouldn’t try to fight it. As a holder I just have to try and not panic if we head all the way down into the 40s, knowing more money and a halving is on the way soon.
