801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2 years old kids alone at home for hours, while the father goes gambling on: February 14, 2024, 08:10:19 PM
Putting your children's lives at risk to gamble is a pretty horrid thing to do.  I couldn't imagine...  At least he won $2,000 and I'm sure he was happy for a while before returning home to find out he's in big trouble...  Now he'll probably do some time, have a ton of fines, court costs, attorney fees, and that $2,000 ain't going to cover it.  Not to mention the stress he will be putting his family through.  It's just not worth it to do stupid things.  Even if he didn't get into trouble with the police, it only takes a couple minutes one time for children to do something life changing.  Playing with fire...
802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So I have been looking around my house and putting together rigs some questions. on: February 14, 2024, 08:04:52 PM
hey what works for Nvidia kawpow

I use t-rex 26.8

anything better?

I use gminer.  Partly because I can run it for both my Nvidia & AMD rigs, but I did do some testing in the past that found gminer to be the best miner for my rigs.  No idea if that remains true today, but if you wanted to be pointed in the right direction of mining software to test, that's where's I'd steer you.  I've also found it to be rock solid.

When mining profitability was constantly changing between coins I used the nicehash miner and liked that it would auto-change to the most profitable chain to mine, but now that KawPow seems to be dominating pretty steadily, that's no longer necessary.
803  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1oz .999 Silver "Bitcoin" Binary Rounds on: February 14, 2024, 08:00:52 PM
I continue to sell these but stock is getting low...  Might be a good time to grab some if you have been on the sidelines as the BTC price surpasses the $50K mark.

The mint I used for these coins has changed hands and my contact is no longer with the company, but I have been trying to find someone there who can give me exact production numbers.  I should've done a better job tracking 3rd party retailers who were offering these for sale.

I was also sent the dies for these coins (along with others I've minted) and wonder if I voided them with a mark if there would be any interest in owning them by someone in the community.

PM me to purchase these rounds, or check out some other coins I have for sale at: https://nastyfans.org/mint
804  Other / Meta / Re: Should bitcointalk ban promotion of other forums? on: February 14, 2024, 07:34:16 PM
When I was approached by Roger Ver to run a signature campaign on behalf of Bitcoin.com I immediately reached out to theymos to ask his opinion on the matter.  He had no issues whatsoever with it and we all know the censorship involving that which shall not be named...  I think theymos probably saw it as an opportunity to bring more revenue to this forum's members more than a threat to poach members from here.  I can't think of a forum that would have a worse relationship with bitcointalk, so I doubt we'll see any action taken against advertising for outside forums anytime soon.
805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: February 14, 2024, 06:13:28 PM
I like the odds on a 4-game parlay today.

Bostons Celtics to beat the Brooklyn Nets
New Orleans Pelicans to beat the Washington Wizards
Dallas Mavericks to beat the San Antonio Spurs
Phoenix Suns to beat the Detroit Pistons

All of those games should be easy wins. It would take a pretty big upset to lose this parlay, but nothing is set in stone.
806  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will this stack make me a USD millionaire? on: February 14, 2024, 06:09:27 PM
7 BTC by itself may be enough to earn you millionaire status in the future. I would imagine 70 ETH also has that possibility by itself, especially if earning staking rewards. I’d say by 2029, a stack of that size will easily get you into the millions. Odds of it happening in 2025 are still probably better than not that it will happen.
807  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 14, 2024, 06:04:51 PM
We are in BULL market.
Surely, you can try to buy a dip, but mechanical sell ladders?
A firm NO from me unless you have to sell to cover some expenses.

In an early bull market, you buy remain all in, buddy, it is as simple as this.
Don't overthink it.

ftfy

I’m also firmly against sell ladders. It’s beyond obvious at this point that Bitcoin moves in a 4-year cycle. I don’t think there’s many people left that deny this. There’s never been an easier asset to trade (and I don’t trade it). You just buy in early 2011, 2015, 2019, 2023, 2027; and you sell in late 2013, 2017, 2021, 2025, 2029… Do this and you’ll make a fortune. You could also just DCA until you want to cash out. Setting up sell ladders though… In what world or with what backtesting has this been considered a good idea?

What can you say about the news that Golden State tried to trade for LeBron before the trade deadline? Also, it says that Draymond Green texted Rich Paul (LeBron's agent) if there is some way he can encourage or recruit Bron to go to GSW. This trade would pair LeBron and Steph Curry with the Warriors. If this happened, I don't really know if they would still be deadly as a duo. I know that both of them are still playing great this season. LeBron James is still averaging his usual numbers, and he is on the way to his 20th All-Star appearance. Same goes with Steph; he is still knocking down threes and carrying Golden State at his back. But if this happened way back in their prime years, this duo would be deadly. We all know LeBron loves having teammates that can knock down threes, and Steph is smooth playing with anybody; just look at KD when he was still in the Warriors; all of them are having their time on the court.

If that trade happens, the world will be in shock.

They probably offered something ridiculous for him just to give the Lakers a chance to dump salary and avoid LeBron causing an offseason media fest with his decision about free agency.

The 76ers also reached out to trade for Durant, Booker, or Beal. You can give them credit for trying, but none of those deals were ever going to happen.
810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 14, 2024, 05:35:40 PM
^ It is a bit concerning that Dana White seemingly has no idea what UFC 300 is going to do for a main event and everyone keeps asking him about it. His behavior leaving a podcast yesterday after his intro sort of displayed his frustration. Everyone wants the biggest UFC event of all time and Dana doesn’t even know if Conor will be able to fight by then or not.
811  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: February 14, 2024, 05:33:33 PM
I will be hitting 1,300 push-ups today (edit: 100 per day for 13 days). I’ll admit that I’d like a rest day but I’m not going to let the streak be broken. My elbow soreness is gone now and I wake up feeling better and better each morning. It won’t be long now before I start adding back in other arm workouts I’ve been neglecting since starting this challenge.
812  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC TOUCHED $50K TODAY. BULL RUN IS HERE? on: February 14, 2024, 05:27:06 PM
I felt the need to make a joke about normies starting to wonder if Bitcoin is in a bull run, but I’ve been beaten to it. Now that the market has surpassed $50K, a lot of folks who have been making fun of crypto and dismissing it since the FTX debacle are going to be a bit shocked at the price. I think most normal folks still think Bitcoin is crashing after reading the news the last few years.
813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: February 14, 2024, 05:53:21 AM
I like the Celtics to beat the Nets, Timberwolves to beat the Trail Blazers, and the Lakers to beat the Pistons tonight.
Celtics already won the game, I'm not sure if you bet on the point spread as they didn't cover the spread. About the Lakers, they are ahead now, might cover the spread but the Timbelwolves, it's quite close now as Portland were able to come back in the 2nd quarter.

Quote
The game I’m really excited to watch though, but won’t be betting on, is the Sacramento Kings vs the Phoenix Suns. Both teams are playing great so that will no doubt be a good matchup.
So far the Sacramento Kings are controlling the game with 11 points lead now, but just like their last meeting, no lead is safe since Suns were able to comeback that time even when they are down by a huge margin.

The Suns and Kings didn’t disappoint.

I just bet the winners of the games and not the spread. Looks like they all hit tonight, which is good because I also doubled up betting them all individually. The odds were admittedly not great, but a 3 game parlay hitting is always a good time.
814  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 14, 2024, 05:50:17 AM
$50 an hour for San Francisco area is a pretty fucking high number.  The others are looking for 20 to 25.

https://politicalwire.com/2024/02/13/barbara-lee-calls-for-50-an-hour-minimum-wage/

we will see what happens.

That’s insane. San Francisco is a glimpse into the future of the US if Republicans don’t grow a pair and start holding people responsible.

Stocks and Bitcoin seemed to take a breather today to catch up on all the gains. I’m sure it’ll be back to setting new highs soon.
815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 14, 2024, 05:48:07 AM
The Phoenix Suns vs Sacramento Kings game didn’t disappoint. The game came down to the last few seconds and both teams were making shots. An offensive rebound on a missed Devon Booker free throw sealed the game, but up until then it could go either way. The series between them is 2-2 this season now. A good chance they’ll see each other again in the post season.
816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 14, 2024, 01:46:03 AM
Hassan Whiteside retired from the game of basketball today. He hasn’t been in the NBA for a bit I don’t think and he hasn’t been a relevant NBA player for even longer, but when he was having his moment in the NBA he put up some monster numbers. I remember seeing him get 20 rebounds and 9 blocks in a game. Not sure where it all went wrong.
817  Economy / Speculation / Re: WILL BITCOIN CONTINUE TO RISE on: February 13, 2024, 09:30:42 PM
With demand clearly surpassing supply since the ETF approvals and the halving right around the corner, I would say the only thing able to stop this market from continuing it’s rise is a massive amount of coins being sold on the market. The only such hoard of coins coming to the market is mtgox, so that’s the swan to watch for.
818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler lost what he couldn't afford to lost and broke his TV after game Lost on: February 13, 2024, 08:22:50 PM
I see these types of videos all the time. It used to make a bigger impact when TVs weren’t given away for opening checking accounts.  Now, the price of TVs have fallen so low, destroying a TV isn’t really a sign you’re rich or angry, so much as it is a sign that you’re an idiot that can’t control your behavior.
819  Economy / Reputation / Re: Where do we draw a line? Signature campaigns or shilling campaigns on: February 13, 2024, 08:19:48 PM
It doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. Just something to be aware of. People in those campaigns have their opinions bought and paid for. They are literally the definition of shills. It makes me thankful for the campaign manager I have, that doesn’t police opinions this way. I frequently tell people to gamble for fun and not money, yet have never been told to push an attitude of bet big to win big…
820  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 13, 2024, 08:16:37 PM
Wemby is not getting the attention he deserves at Spurs, the players are just not passing him the ball and that's going to ruin them. I heard someone talk about how it resembles the first year of Lebron, every other player was angry that this 18 year old kid got all the attention and they have been at NBA for a long time and not getting the same attention so they disliked him for it and didn't pass him the ball as much as they should, which resulted with them not being as good as they could be.

You know what happened to those people? They got either waived or traded away and their stock value dropped like crazy, if you can't play with Lebron, you can't play with anyone else. So the current Spurs players who do not pass to Wemby? They will be low minute players and then retire.

Wemby isn’t getting the respect right now because his team is terrible, but people are taking notice. When your team is bad though, you get lots of opportunities and it’s easy to have good stats. If his team starts winning and he’s able to keep up these numbers, that’s when you’ll see people starting to really talk about him as a skilled player.
