1581  Other / Meta / Re: A suggestion to encourage/recognize good posting behaviour on: August 18, 2018, 08:38:13 PM
What you're suggesting is basically the trust system duplicated for post quality.
I think it's better to get rid of users with only crappy posts. Ban them instead of turning them red.
The merit system takes care of the good posters, and allows them to stand out.
1582  Economy / Reputation / Re: Peejet Nagesh021 vs PEEMAN ( TMAN ) on: August 18, 2018, 08:32:43 AM
The difference between an experienced potty-mouth like TMAN and an aspiring one like Nagesh021 is that that the latter has no chance of coming up with a proper insult due to lack of context and knowledge about the opponent so he/she is just projecting his/her own insecurities into the debate.

Kind makes me feel a bit sorry for Nagesh021 now that I've said it. I mean how poor and desperate do you have to be to do those stupid bounties and to think that "I'll buy your town" means anything. Why would anyone even want to own a town? Perhaps Nagesh021 lives in someone's private town and doesn't know any better.
Spot on!
I also think "princess" is a much stronger insult than "asshole". The latter shows desperation.

I have sent him a PM requesting that he re opens the thread.
Many of his posts were deleted, so I think the thread was locked by a Mod.
1584  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: August 16, 2018, 05:45:39 PM
I wouldn't be completely against the idea of removing the default merits to further distinguish the good quality posters from those who earned it by just being around here for a long time, and being somewhat active. Probably a little bit of an extreme measure though.
A less extreme option would be to remove zero-point-something merit from the airdrop per day.
That would instantly drop the rank of users with very bad posts, while people who earned some merits once in a while won't be effected.

I don't think it's fair to expect Legendary users to earn 1000 merit in half a year to keep the rank, while a Full Member only needs to earn 100 in the same amount of time.
1585  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: August 16, 2018, 04:50:51 PM
I am against removing merit for deleted posts, because some posts are worth reading until the entire thread gets trashed. For example: a scam warning.
But I'd have to agree the large majority of merited deleted posts must be merit abuse.

I have a different suggestion: in the user profile, behind the merit amount, add the percentage of merit earned for deleted posts. If it is 2% nobody will bat an eye, of it's 80% it is obvious not to rely on the merit count for that user.
1586  Other / Meta / Forum response very slow on: August 16, 2018, 03:30:42 PM
Each page takes about 15 seconds to load today. I was expecting to find a topic about this, but there's none.
Is it just me? I have the same problem on 2 devices.

Update: I got a Cloudflare message, and it works fine again. I guess DDOS protection is on now.
1587  Other / Meta / Re: HOW TO AVOID SPAMMING on: August 15, 2018, 08:55:04 PM
Step 1: turn off Caps Lock.
1588  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I wanna get merits on: August 15, 2018, 06:09:06 PM
How do I get some merits?
Make good posts.

And what is the advantage of a bitcointalk community member being merited?
Why do you even want merit, if you don't know what it's for?

If its the only way, then how about adding some extra features on it which is the IP BAN. In which these bots are surely connected with 1 IP  ADDRESS.

I think you, Vod and Dmdmdr ( should I also include Jet Cash? I think he's also knowledgeable in this kind of field ) can make this possible also with the help of some mods here.
Mods don't have access to IP addresses, only Admins.

Why memorize the private key right before sweeping (I don't think you used import) it?

Welcome to the forum, stick around with constructive posts!
1591  Other / Meta / Re: Censorship on the Bitcoin talk forum on: August 12, 2018, 06:38:46 AM
Who are involved in censoring this website? It's a threat to my freedom of speech
That's not how freedom of speech works. It doesn't give your the right to spam a private forum.
1592  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peak get lower and lower, and dips get worse on: August 12, 2018, 06:09:30 AM
OP is a FUD spammer. Tell me OP, what is your agenda? Is someone paying you for this?

Bitcoin has gone through much worse.
1593  Other / Meta / Re: Hidden feature: Even Legendary do not have much clue on: August 12, 2018, 03:46:19 AM
Thoughts: the title is useless, it should describe the thread instead of trying to be clickbait.
I've also seen a similar topic not so long ago. Its trivial information, but too much work to use.
1594  Other / Meta / Re: Self-moderated thread initiative. More work for us, less for the Mods. on: August 11, 2018, 10:01:26 PM
I partially agree with both above. Self-moderate threads are abused on the marketplace board. I don't think its wise to use it in a (political) discussion thread either.
But it works great against people who can't follow simple rules, or can't be bothered to even read the OP.

When I self-moderate a thread that has to do with money and my reputation on being fair, I often archive the thread and post the link. I hope this prevents it from looking shady.

I'll post deposit addresses in the morning. My post is almost ready, but I want to triple check everything when I'm fully awake again.
1596  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit Senders & Receivers – Weight of top 100 and 200 weekly contributors on: August 08, 2018, 04:03:20 PM
Perhaps at some point in the last 30 days you sent some of your earned sMerits.
I've never been out all source merit, so that's not possible.
1597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Should I do if my bitcoin has been stolen, and where should i complain ? on: August 04, 2018, 06:51:28 AM
You don't own Bitcoin on exchange addresses. Its the account you own. So to clarify: did funds disappear from your exchange account?

If you lose funds from your Bitcoin address, nobody can help you. Be your own bank works both ways.

Anyone for a vouch
I'll take one. Read my signature first, send the vouch to my main account
If you send the VCC set in USD, I'll see if I can use it to register a PayPal account through VPN.
I've always wanted one for currency exchange purposes, but without further kyc.
1599  Other / Meta / Re: Icon for banned user on: July 30, 2018, 10:31:08 PM
I am trying to find a reported user there but I did not find it in modlog.
User is also inactive for last 2 days.
Try bpip.org
1600  Other / Meta / Re: Default Ranking-Up System as a Compliment to the current Merit System on: July 26, 2018, 06:21:47 AM
You seem to think it's a bad thing spammers can't rank up. It's not, it's exactly what the merit system was designed for.

So no.
