Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX

OK, but the devil is always in the detail. What's going to be the actual impact of moving to this solution? Thinking of all the moving parts, what is the journey we would need to go on to end up with a scenario such as that?
Is the cost and impact of this journey less than all the benefits gained?
The actual impact is that we would no longer have all our Darkcoin vulnerable to the 'security' of 3 servers. Evan is going the right way I think with the block reward structure, and assuming InstanTX works reliably dependence on miners is going to diminish greatly, but as long as blocks can be generated by centralised pools the coin remains intrinsically insecure. The cost of my proposed solution is a rewrite of the p2pool code to make sure it can cope with the demands placed upon it and to include privkeys for each p2pool node, with a corresponding check on the Masternode side. Whatever that cost is, within reason, it's worth it IMO to have an actually decentralised consensus system with no easily targeted centralised points of failure. What are your DRK going to be worth if those 3 servers ever get compromised? Bugger all, very quickly, I think. Remember not too long ago when the whole PSN got taken down for weeks by a few script kiddies from 4chan? Do you really think a serious adversary is going to struggle with a few shitty mpos servers? Assuming some unpleasant people don't just come physically knocking at the door. You're a smart guy crouton, how about you have a crack at what the development and testing of new p2pool code would cost? Whilst also thinking about the entire DRK ecosystem and how this change would impact all the moving parts? If the benefits clearly outweigh the costs, I'll be the first to help you in any way I can. If we address this decentralization issues, and with the instant transactions ready to be solved, Darkcoin will be 2 steps ahead Bitcoin in no time.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][0.8.6.6] Hirocoin - X11 - Hardfork at Block 290,000 [Complete] - *New Dev*
|
on: November 12, 2014, 01:55:09 AM
|
I've been in talks with another cryptocurrency team regarding a M&A. Hirocoin as it stands would be exchanged at a determined ratio into the coin which would be acquiring us.
We'd essentially be absorbed into that crypto and I would have a seat on that team to voice the opinions of the current Hirocoin investors.
This is the reason why development has come to a standstill. The current issues with Hirocoin would require another hardfork which would involve all the current Hirocoin users and exchanges to once again update their client or face have multiple forks on the network.
The current state of Hirocoin is too fragile for another hardfork and this M&A seems to be the best option going forward. With the new coin we'd be absorbed into we'd gain access to a full-time team, a larger community and fellow investors and essentially a better chance at surviving the current alternate cryptocurrency environment we're faced with.
I'd like to get the community's thoughts on this.
As a big bagholder I can say it sounds reasonable. Please explain the details.

Local / Altcoins (criptomonedas alternativas) / ¿Alguien me puede explicar cómo puedes conseguir tus NEM?
|
on: November 12, 2014, 12:13:27 AM
|
