It's sad to see the coin being renamed to a brand that already has patents filed on it... moreover that is also an existing coin that's been here a while.
Those are some of the reasons why I decided to empty my DRK stash and move on. It's kind of a slap in the face for the early DRK people.
Anybody would happen to know the filing number of the challenge application? Would be interesting to see.
Not worrying about the legal stuff as Fernando and a couple others on the foundation board are lawyers. As for dashcoin, the slimball is their dev who sold the github to Evan. Evan did nothing wrong. If that community wants to fork the coin and still call it dashcoin or whatever that is fine. We are not rebranding to dashcoin anyway. As for the actual rebrand, DASH was originally suggested by the community and since the annoucement the vast majority have rallied around the name. Of course some people will be upset like you or Vertoe and decide to sell. Actually, I feel bad for the long time holders that are not showing enough foresight to keeping holding. After all the coin fundamentals have not changed and now we are much more marketable. There is a good chance that long time holders who are selling now just because of a name change will be very very upset with themselves in a year or two's time. I bought my first DASH back in February 2014 right after the name was changed from Xcoin to Darkcoin... I was very attached to the name. But after reading story after story after story from the hardworking people trying to increase adoption all saying that the name is holding us back I decided that my loyalty to the name was just a silly, emotional personal problem. In the end, as an investor I want to see my investment increase -- and if that means getting over my personal attachment to the name and suffering short term losses due to uncertainty in the market then so be it... Just keeep an eye on the number of active masternodes to know what long time holders think about the rebrand  |

No acabo de entender bien lo del cambio de nombre, ya existe una Dashcoin. ¿Acaso pretenden comprar el nombre? En mi opinión, Darkcoin no necesita cambiar de nombre para tener éxito. Puede que el nuevo nombre facilite su expansión, pero a cambio está dividiendo a una comunidad ya creada y que creyó ferviertemente en la Darkcoin original. We picked up on that and the foundation began investigating the use of it and found a trademark application. yes very much this I am tired of scrolling thru each page and half of the posts say "This user is currently ignored." and this thread is so large the search function doesn't work properly new DASH moderated thread please! I don't agree. We can deal with our pet trolls. Let people say what they want, they portray themselves and the coins they support. Is very informative Just from time to time we must remember people that darkcointalk.org is the place where we can really talk without noise. |

Darkcoins no longer exist; they are dead and never coming back. They are now DASH (DigitaltrASH) instead. Sorry you worked hard on your project only to have Dear Leader suddenly pull the rug out from under you, without the benefit of warning or discussion. QUICK, go make physical DASH so the same thing can happen again next time Dear Leader wakes up and unilaterally rebrands on a whim, with zero fucks given about the cost to anyone invested in the old name. Makes the pieces more collectible. Perhaps will make a physical Dash next year? You want to make physical version's of Digital Cash? Oxymoron anyone? Esta muy feo llamar "ridículo" a algo que ni siquiera conoces  Digo que me parece ridículo que los españoles que no sepan ingles no puedan asistir a las quedadas que se realizan en barcelona. No que las quedadas en ingles sean ridículas. ok, aclarado. Cómo ya he comentado, cada cual se lo monta como quiere (o puede) y la afluencia de público y el interés de la comunidad es lo único que hace sobrevivir quedadas como las nuestras. Hasta ahora en Barcelona funciona bien este modelo (y he intentado explicar mis razones el el post anterior). Estaré encantado de asistir a las quedadas en castellano que montará "atg" en breve |

Lo mismo digo yo... He ido a varias y al final, teniendo en cuenta que el 90% de la gente que asiste sabe castellano, no entiendo el porqué hacerlas en inglés... ( excepto en este foro, donde no postea nadie de los habituales porque son todos guiris) Pequeña aclaración si me permites, Sera porque no les da la gana, que yo sepa no tenemos un prohibido guiris ni cualquier otro, es mas, pueden expresarse en arameo si lo desean, solo necesitan incluir traducción al Español en el mismo mensaje, aunque sea automática y semiapañada manualmente, se valorara el esfuerzo en intentar hacerse entender en Español, no una traducción perfecta, para eso ya nos sobran aquí megacracks con muchas ganas de ayudar a los que aportan y se esfuerzan por hacerse entender. ok, evidentemente. Creo que mi redactado da lugar a confusión, no lo digo por el foro, si no por la gente que postea en este hilo. Es diferente! Los guiris (habituales del meetup) no considerarán necesario postear aquí, o no les interesa, o yo que sé. Para mi este es mi foro "nacional" de referencia, cada cual tendrá el suyo supongo. En cualquier caso, este no es el foro de la comunidad de referencia, lo decía porque esto parece muerto a veces, y nuestra realidad del día a día es otra. . |

 La verdad es que tiene narices que estando en España los españoles que no sepan ingles no puedan asistir a la quedada. De vez en cuando es entendible porque venga un ponente ingles o algo asi, pero vamos, que es ridículo. Por cierto, @alexr_96, curioseando por el foro he visto que eres uno de los organizadores de los meetups de Madrid. Contestando a tan amable conversación, algunas puntualizaciones 1.- El organizador principal de los meetups se llama Mihail y es búlgaro. Cuando empezó a organizar los meetups (hace más de un año) no hablaba ni castellano ni catalán. Y empezó a hacerlos convocarlos en inglés. ¡Y el idioma nunca ha supuesto ningún problema! (excepto en este foro, donde no postea nadie de los habituales porque son todos guiris) 2.- Como co-organizador he asistido a prácticamente todos los meetups que se han convocado, puedo decir que de los asistentes habituales (Manfred, Stan, Mike, Isaac, etc..) solo 2 tenemos el castellano/catalán como primera lengua. Mike y Stan son búlgaros, Manfred austríaco, Isaac es canadiense, etc. 3.- En los últimos 5 encuentros 4 charlas las han dado personas cuyo primer idioma no es el castellano o catalán, 3 charlas que si. Sin olvidar que hemos hecho una por videoconferencia con los EUA, un formato que va a ir a más. Cambiar el idioma es perder el 90% de los potenciales ponentes. No gracias. 4.- Lo que el 90% sabe castellano te lo sacas de la chistera, porque está claro que no es así. Tenemos mucha gente de paso en Barcelona interesada en el tema Bitcoin, si miras los hilos de nuestras quedadas aquí lo podrás ver claramente. Lo que te puedo garantizar es que el 100% de los asistentes sabe inglés. Llevamos más de un año currándonos las quedadas (y eso supone tiempo y esfuerzo, que los ponentes no llegan solos, ni las salas se reservan por arte de magia) y lo vamos a seguir haciendo según nos parezca. Anotado queda el tema del idioma, lo hablaremos y quizá cambiemos en un futuro. El pasado 4 de marzo hicimos una quedada para principiantes, con una charla en castellano y otra en inglés. Se va a ir repitiendo si notamos que la comunidad las demanda. De la misma manera que Escalicha esta empezando a montar quedadas dedicadas a Ethereum, yo animo a quien quiera a montar quedadas dedicadas a Bitcoin en castellano en Barcelona si lo considera oportuno. Si me interesan los temas a tratar yo mismo asistiré. Lo que no queremos que se conviertan los quedadas de Barcelona en una reunión de colegas donde siempre estamos los mismos y hablamos de las mismas cosas. Para eso tenemos los post-meetup en los bares  Gracias por las sugerencias. |

I propose a total rebrand of the term troll.
Bear with me... First we acquire the rights to Froll, and check with the registrar OUICIS, the Offical Unexistent International Commitee of Internet Slang, phonetically resembling like "whois'dis", that the name isn't taken for our intended purpose.
Evolution does happen, and we have a grand new breed of freak mutated species.
Lets face it;
- we dont have trolls in the original sense,
- we dont have FUDsters... in the classic sense
- we have managed to cause despair each taxonomic plague, they mutated into a sort of in-dred transgenic entirely new species!!
So I propose we classify their pestilence as a being a Froll, the crossing between the two. Immediate spawn is characterised complete absence of reflexive cognisance.
Yet another Darkcoin achievement !!

Sorry, only the Fundation members will decide. This is not a decision open to fudders and trolls. This is one of the reasons we have a Foundation btw so only those with a special interest that being big investment decide ? sounds a lot like current politics. Which for the record doesn't work for the people. You know the mass that count. The 99%. Foundation is an awful idea detaches small investors which you need more of. It only costs 10 DRK to join the Foundation, not a big investment. shouldnt cost anything to have your say in the world. This is what makes us different than north korea  |

Evan, is it correct what your other developers, like Vertoe, say? They claim this was a unilateral decision made without their input and now Vertoe has left the team.
Also, how do you respond to Vertoe leaving? It seems like a mighty setback to the overall project.

Nope. I approached nearly everyone internally and most were for the rebranding. I missed Vertoe, but I already knew what he thought from public comments. wait, Vertoe is a he? Oh, fuck. So those lewd n suacy PM's were completely inappropriate: /facepalm Well, probably Vertoe is queer or trans. Something more common than a lot of people think. So stop talking nonsense about the he/she issue (not for you Coins, I am talking in general). Who cares? We can choose who we want to be. Vertoe can be both Queers, homos and trans are usually the more interesting people to talk with |
