It seems nobody is willing to sell @25K sato at cex Grin

that is a sign that the coins are controlled by a small group. that spells trouble for new investors and community members.

think I'm staying away.

Probably best you do.  I for one am holding my coins for the master nodes.  I am not sure why anyone would sell that many coins for so little.
1343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: December 24, 2014, 01:31:20 AM
So I was mining no problems one wallet (2) rigs.  I downloaded the new wallet.  Swapped it with my current.  left everything else the same spreadcoin.conf and wallet.dat.  I encrypted my wallet as I realized I hadn't done so on my SPR.  I rebooted the machine with the wallet and went to start the miners.  No luck.  So i switched to the mining tab and it asked me to enter my pass phrase.  When i did the CPU started mining and my GPU miners turned on at around 29 kh/s each.  Am I doing something wrong?
This is a known limitation that you can mine only with unlocked wallet.
You have several options:
1. Use not encrypted wallet.
2. Unlock your wallet from debug console using "walletpassphrase password timeout" where timeout is the number of seconds your wallet will be unlocked.
3. Unlock your wallet by starting CPU mining, as you see it decreases your GPU hashrate; if you will try to mine with 1 thread maybe it will not decrease. There should be a cleaner way to unlock your wallet from GUI but for now there is none.
4. Set private key for mining in spreadcoin.conf as described in OP:
Quote
1. Use existing or better generate a new address.
2. Open debug console (Tools -> Debug Console) and enter:
Quote
dumpprivkey SYourSpreadCoinAddress
3. You will get your private key. Then open spreadcoin.conf or create it if it doesn't exist (D:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SpreadCoin\spreadcoin.conf on Windows) and add the following line:
Quote
miningprivkey=YourPrivateKey
4. Restart your wallet if it was running.
In the Mining tab you will now see notification that all mined coins will go to this address.

OK - Thank you for that help - i realize now it is the encrypting of the wallet that was stopping me from mining.  That's weird.  Anyway I am downloading another wallet to get rid of the encryption.  Thanks a bunch

Ok - I must be missing something.  i went from 15 mh/s on my (10) 750ti's down to 29 kh/s on each?  What is the exact process for mining with GPU's now?
Hashrate just dropped? Are you sure you didn't changed anything?

All I did was download the new wallet and try to start my miners - no luck.  I did encrypt my wallet but that shouldn't be an issue for mining right?
This is very strange. So you have changed two things - updated to the new version and encrypted your wallet, or you already were mining with encrypted wallet?
If your wallet is encrypted it must be unlocked for mining (or you need to set miningprivkey in spreadcoin.conf). But miner shouldn't launch if wallet is encrypted and locked.

Hrmm - ok - maybe I need a step by step.

Can you mine to a wallet that has been encrypted?

...snip....

If MN,darksend and especially GUI muliti-sig are integrated into Spread wallet,SPR is undoubtly to be on the list of TOP 10 maket cap.
btw: so many proposals in this thread,a roadmap should be sorted out now.

Really?

You know darksend and instant tx relies on a diverse and distributed community securing the network and putting in the effort to keep master nodes up and updated?

thelonecrouton has also argued (from memory, I'm sure he will correct me) that mining is less important than master nodes, so while solo mining is very attractive and closer to what Satoshi intended, solo mining can be viewed with indifference by some.

To beat DRK, with an effective DRK clone, the best approach would be to advertise SPR as a re-run of DRK for those that missed the launch of DRK.  Then climbing the mountain to beat DRK is a little less challenging. The lack of liquidity will remain the issue to moving this project forward in the short-term as Master Nodes are built around proof of service which requires coins.

Then there is the SPR code. Anything of potential value to SPR and DRK can be used by DRK.

Sadly, as you've posted this, I think I'm talking myself out of SPR. Maybe that's the second bottle of Saint-Joseph talking. Let's see what view sobriety brings tomorrow.

1. Masternodes are very easy to set up and almost effortless to administer.

2. Solo mining is actually useful, and should IMO be rewarded more highly than the eventual 70/30 split with DRK. 50/50 would be fine with me.

3. I'm happy to see quiet, steady technical progress without all the chart chasing. "No liquidity" = "I can't buy as cheaply as I want to."

4. Developmental synergy is a good thing and beneficial to both currencies.

5. You're too smart not to buy into this. Grin

Hey everyone!

The team is still here working on stable. At the moment we are having some difficulties with the amount of people in STABLEFUND, we need some more coins to get the first value increase started.

The team is also buying coins that are being sold at low prices so we can increase the amount of coins in STABLEFUND. Please send in your form if you haven't yet.

Why did you disappear without even an update that the wallet was not going to be released?  If you truly are legit don't you think that is just bad business?

Ok - so I requested that we be added to Cryptsy today.  I have had nothing but good luck on that site and the operator is quick to respond with any issues.  In addition, when I have had a problem I have called them and it was handled right away.  I have been using Cryptsy about a year now.  If you agree please submit a request through the support system.  Thank you - Pokeytex

I still hope dev is back soon... Maybe I am too new to crypto, not yet burned on previous coins, and hence am too naive, but something tells me he will be back. At least this time Smiley Isn't it too early for Devs to run away even if they are not legit? From other hand, if they are serious people, they might be working on finishing their stuff and balancing offers before they go further. In that case it would be nice for Carol to drop a line here, so people don't panic. Carol, are you around? Say something Smiley

a) dont buy ICOs

also, if the dev comes back now with some lame excuse it is still a scam. We had that before. They let the coin die, buy everything themselves super cheap, come back with some bullshit promises and dump on you again. Dont let them fool you twice. If that happens get out soon and dont look back, ever.

b) dont buy ICOs unless you have a really good reason to do so. There is actually one ICO (and only one) open right now, I would even recommend to my grandmother, but I am not here to promote somthing.

Hehe - XPY - I am in it!

I am also new to the IPO crypto world but having invested in other things I know the feeling I get when I see something that looks half-assed and thrown together.  We are all smarter than this but was blinded by greed.  We all purchased into this with a half-assed white paper with no real path, and no true faces.  Newbie accounts and very little meat in the communications.  Take your losses as I have and move on.  I would seriously not consider doing anymore IPO's on C-Cex since they certainly don't vet their prospective clients.
1354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][STAB] STABLE - ICO is over - Controlled Price Increases on: December 19, 2014, 11:51:50 AM
I told you guys already not to trust him.

Well a full day has come and gone with no new wallet.  That was my true timer.  I was duped once I will not be buying anymore IPO's in Cryptoworld for sure.  However I did buy into Paycoin but they are a legitimate bunch of people with real names, faces, and a building.  These people will get their Karma - it's a bitch!
1355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: December 18, 2014, 12:06:26 PM
Mr. Spread, I mean ZERO disrespect when I ask this and will definitely not push the issue as it's your coin... but would you be open to a name change for Spreadcoin at some point?  One of the biggest arguments against Darkcoin by many is its' name.  Spreadcoin is going to have many of the same features as DRK (and maybe even some improvements by the sounds of it!) BUT in my opinion, "Spreadcoin" isn't the greatest name ever for a coin, especially for a coin I feel can be a top 3-10 market cap coin within a year. Again, I mean no disrespect and if you love the current name, I won't mention it again.  But if you are open to a name change, I think it could bring even more attention to this coin.

I politely disagree (spreadcoin) as in spread around the world makes good sense to me.  We want this to spread around the world and make us all rich.  I vote leave it alone.

Mr. Spread, C-CEX gives me privkey. Can you solve my problem? How much will it cost?

is this the reason they maybe "blocked" withdrawals of this coin?

i dont like it... i invest then i see my coins in air...

I did a withdrawl last night with no problems.  Make sure you are approving the withdrawl from your email link?

Ok Ok - I know this is going to be a relative question but I am curious.  What do you think a good amount of DMD is to hold going into the reward drop?  Honestly I am not rich and would like to be.  If that means everyday I need to buy 100 DMD I can make that happen.  I am just curious to see what others with a smarter brain than me think?  Any answers are greatly appreciated.  (Realistic really)

This is fair enough cryptonit.
I didn't realise the impost on taking fiat.
I may be missing something, but buying btc is the most difficult product/service on the net!
I can buy anything else with just credit card details, name and address, but for btc they want passport nos or photos of drivers licence etc. I don't put these anywhere on the net. My credit card has all of these.
And so, I find myself buying doge off ebay and converting, or using paypal to buy btc at exorbitant rates, it shouldn't be so hard.
Anyway, these are not your problems and I shall carry on.
If anyone can suggest a way to purchse btc via paypal or credit card I would be most appreciative.
Kind Regards
chilo

Very very soon you will be able to buy Paycoin from Paybase with a credit card and instant switch from BTC to XPY and/or XPY to BTC.  It is in its infancy and coming out soon.

Hey, im wondering if i can point a rented rig at Spread?

How would i go about doing this via solo mining?

Thanks

I think it would not be wise to do so, unless you can guarantee that the rig owner does not have access to rig while you are mining. Else, he can recover the private key you are using to mine and steal all your coins.

True, but couldn't i just send the coins to another wallet as soon as they are paid?

I need to find someone willing to configure their rigs to Spread.
if the rig owner is dishonest, you have a 50% chance of getting the coins before him.

But then if he is dishonest, he would rent you a fake rig in the first place. In the end, it's just a trust issue...

Yes, i can handle the risk.

Does Spread allow p2pool mining?

Noper - no pool mining at all...

may I spend a couple words on the algo: history says every algo can be "broken" (using fpga or asic), so why change it again and go thru all the hassle of forks and wallet updates? in the end what matters is coin stability and hashrate distribution which don't necesarily go worse with asic or fpga; btw cpu/gpu mining is over for most of us anyway.
unless there is some crypto breaktru I'd stay with groestl.

This is especially true if in another 6-8 months block rewards are going to drop to .1 then there is no point to switch algos?  The mining will be negligible and most of the network support would come from the wallets minting correct?  Just wondering if it makes sense overall.  In 6-8 months asics/fpgas can point here all they want if you are only getting .1 dmd per block it is probably not worth it for them.  Maybe I misunderstand something but just my thoughts before coffee. :-)
