To be honest, I am pretty new to Vertcoin, although I've been into crypto for a long time and I have been watching (and researching) VTC from the "sidelines" for a while. My mining "career" has gone from BTC>LTC>Doge>Vert. It appears that VTC has all the prerequisites for a successful coin. It has a good, hard-working, committed and honest dev. It is seemingly backed by a loyal (and seemingly large) community (trolls and negative-nancys excluded!). It also has good (and more importantly, working) features like the stealth address. The LYRA2 conversion will also be a first of it's kind in the crypto-community? The reason for the price drop is that all crypto-currencies have been experiencing a contraction for almost a year. What's important to remember is that the coin itself, has not changed, it is still the same as when it was valued much higher. I don't know when this period of contraction will end, but basically, if you want the price to rise, then stop dumping this very good (and rare!) coin! I swear, some people just cannot see the value (amazingness!) in the concepts and ideas behind cryptos and the invention of the blockchain. All they do is want to make more fiat :-( Anyway, go Vert! I stand behind this coin.

Summary of what he says: (sort of) He believes that for altcoins, working to get away from ASIC miners is critical to altcoin success. In Vertcoin's case they are planning to fork into Lyra2 soon. Important aspects of a good quality coin is good intentions, good team and good execution. Another member of the panel from a cloud mining/mining website reflected on how the development team for Vertcoin is great. I don't want to butcher the Vertcoin developer's name so I will omit that. Heavy (Thai?) accent, but I had little problems making out what he was saying. Gentlemen-like in that he was always paying attention to who is speaking so he could move the table mic over a foot or two. Nothing really new here, but cool to see one of the developers!

I think we should wait for the dev to finish lyra2RE. New developers need much time to work themselves in.
and I don`t think it would be fair to change dev.

Making something quantum resistant is not considerably different from ASIC resistant.

If something can be computed then it can be optimized, the hardware can be optimized. With quantum computing not being a real product and with basically no expertise available, you can bet no VTC quantum computing will take place in the next 10 years.

Be real. There are usually not even GPU otimized kernels, and GPUs have been on mass market for nearly 20 years.

Good question! Problem is, when in the design phase, an ASIC is still a very vague thing. They have a lot of weapons we don't and I see no way to put this in ELI5 version. Sure thing is using more memory increases resistance but other means must also be explored.

So let us declare that VTC is a GPU coin. We will change the PoW algorithm whenever is necessary to fend off ASIC. So no ASIC miner will appear publicly. If we find out a secret ASIC in operation, we will change algorithm straight away.

Has there been any progress? I have been long awaiting the day our community will thrive. I will be glad to add a few thousand vert as an incentive to the wonderful dev's that are apart of vertcoin.

Seriously..who still thinks this coin will survive? I have followed it since Jan, I cant see it happening. Only rational and reasonable responses please. Its an interesting industry, but Vert is on its last legs/dying
