Pitty they don't have a BTC balance. +1 they're services rock and have a stable platform but a btc balance would be nice to have too. I'm still quite amazed by the speed they implemented bitcoin with their platform. Happy customer since 2011

Good luck with your business and, as a side note, I didn't like you spamming me with some facebook group on PM
edit: flix has apologized in PM, btw I voted "Other" in this pool because it doesn't have the option "Food" that i'm interested in

I'm working on a patch that solves block hashes analytically without requiring to brute-force SHA. Then, you simply set the blocktime variable to the desired value and off you go. I'm in the testing phase right now, set it to 1 block per hour, just to make sure I won't destabilize the bitcoin enterprise, but I still need to add tx to the equation; people seem to get uncomfortable with all these zero tx blocks right now. Well, once I fixed that I will offer the patch for just $9.95 to everybody! Mystery solved. We need a like button for posts like this

I got suspended for selling paperclips with free bitcoins 2 days ago, and yes i sent the damn clips with a tracking number. They want all kind of documents to re-enable my account. I had only positive votes with them but the fees are killing me so i think i will pass doing something about it. They will get to know bitcoin in the end. Ahh, so are you the guy that stole my paperclip idea? I've never seen it done before, so I thought I'd give it a try with 5BTC+Paperclip. About a week later a couple of auctions using the same stainless steel paperclip, and even copy/pasted text, showed up. Hilarious that I get to meet the guy that stole me idea. haha, the copyright is yours i just used it without change because they were perfect. Should start pouring paperclips or personal autographs on ebay with free bitcoins so they find out what the free market is. They trowed their TOS at me a few times without specifying clearly why the suspension, say it's a routine check.

I understand the "orphan attack on a node", but please explain why "sometimes bitcoin just have to create 1tx blocks even when there are lots of TXes" ? Right after startup? Right after receiving a new block. i always wondered why that happened, thanks for explaining. I pondered a few days over the MM issue and came with the conclusion that we will have to make bitcoin client "smarter", like the people that use it, to avoid issues like this. The easier way to try solving empty blocks issue would be: - track source ip of incoming txs in memory - client wouldn't accept only blocks from other peers, while working normally (not downloading blockchain), should have at least a few txs from that peer in memory - blocks should contain at least one incoming transaction from that peer Empty blocks are like blank pages in a book but they come with a prize for the miner even when not writing anything on it. I know sometimes even big pools can come up with a <1 sec empty block (freebie) so it will be the miners election if they want a better network quality (no empty blocks) or situations like this in the future. TL;DR Miners will have to decide over the MM issue with their hashing power.

If it's a botnet, perhaps it could be using an unknown SETI@Home/BOINC exploit or trojan?
or it is seti/boinc/folding itself... making a quick buck for marketing and driving people away from bitcoin back to scientific calcs. (i don't really believe that ) hard to believe given those projects do floating point operations in their software and use Nvidia GPUs

you could have better luck on ogrr.com, a gamers heaven that uses bitcoin as forum currency

assuming all the mined bitcoins are in the possession of the same entity he or them should now have aprox. 35000 btc... I'm getting some popcorn, this is getting interesting to watch, no tx blocks count have almost tripled in 3 months

just a reminder:
some of you guys owe me money...
i know i don't I passed the exam with 960 score, thanks nice, which one was it? CCNA, it helped me study more in depth the things Cisco required me to know. It doesn't serve if you don't know nothing at all, heh

Does anyone have any actual numbers on heat loss of such a tub? How much can I expect one to dissipate?
You have too much unknown variables to be able successfully calculate all that, like primary and secondary circuit water volume and ambient exposure (insulation missing), inefficient heat exchangers and all that. Building it with a decent size tub, exchangers and GPU's, with the ability to add or remove some of them from the circuit easily, should give better results to reach some conclusions. A rough estimate is that you would lose more than half of the energy you put in, so with 1kw rigs should give aprox 400-500w heat, and this value goes down with more energy we put in, better for the miner in this case.

wow great news, so we have a winner ? i took a short glimpse at their website and history and liked it, they seem to have a strong purpose too

My thoughts exactly I think we were saying the same thing in different ways.
I may not go that elaborate for my setup but putting heat exchanger on cold input of hot water heater seems a no brainer. That is the closest thing to "free energy" you can get.
a miner's wet dream... free energy or heating, whichever comes first You could have a adjustable pump on the GPU side to increase or decrease the flow in case the cooling rate isn't sufficient, and make sure it's a big tub and have more than one heat exchanger, the rest is getting paid to enjoy such hot tub with family and friends didn't saw that post rjk thanks, my fav line... The best thing about my water cooling and floor heating is that my wife keeps nagging me to buy a second 5970 to make the floor warmer i should look into it more, yeah

|
|
Well yeah, but isn't that what I said initially? Yeah maybe I misunderstood but you can't rely on JUST a hot tub was my point. What happens when the hot tub is at 50C and the GPUs are at 50C? With nowhere for the heat to go the temp in both loops will rise and rise faster in the GPU loop until you hit GPU killing temps. Having a water-air radiator after the hot tub gives you control over the GPU temps outside of what the temp of the hot tub is. The tub looses heat over it's surface and body if not insulated. There are formulas to calculate the temperatures the system will reach equilibrium with a given input energy (GPU temps) and natural dissipation surface of the tubs. Don't forget to take into consideration overall loses in the pipes and heat exchanger too. The answer is NO, you won't be put in the situation of needing a water-aid radiator, imo
|
|
|
I don't see why it wouldn't work, although it would almost certainly raise the temperature of your GPU water loop. Either that or you'd need a huge heat exchanger to move much heat with only a few degrees deltaT.
A heat exchanger indeed but not necessarily too big if you place the coil on the bottom of it link, casascius is on to something here. Maybe we could use existent solar heat exchangers for hot tubs and and have it all installed in no time. The overall temperature would keep a constant level given the water surface with the ambient is far greater than a fan cooled radiator and you would have the water heated for free. I suppose you already know that GPU water circuit can't be bothered with anything else than distilled water so a heat exchanger is the key part in doing all this.
