1263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia's Media Watchdog - Blocks Bitcoin Websites on: January 13, 2015, 06:32:45 PM
http://www.coindesk.com/russias-media-watchdog-bans-number-bitcoin-sites/

next is China.

If China blocks websites like BTC China, OkCoin, Huobi and lakebtc....it's done Smiley

I think most of the Russian bitcoiners already use Tor to secure them from government surveillance.

Happy New Year bitcoiners Smiley

A lot of things have taken place at our end in last few months. We did not expect it will take so much time, but we are happy to say, that at last we are close to launch. OP is updated with the latest info. Expecting support from the community...

www.100bit.co.in

Nice to see that you are still at work. Very few projects I have seen in BitcoinTalk that they announced months ago and ultimately delivered the end product. Probably Trezor was the longest running in this category, it took around 2 years to deliver after the announcement.
1265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interview with bagholders Thread on: January 13, 2015, 03:33:49 PM
My hands are empty at the moment (otherwise it would be very difficult to use a keyboard), but I did carry some bags of groceries in from the car earlier today.  I'll assume that makes me a "bagholder" and qualified to answer your questions?

(1) How do . . . you feel now that the BTC price has drop so quickly in the last couple of days.

Meh.

The exchange rate goes up sometimes, the exchange rate goes down sometimes.  That's simply a function of supply and demand.  It really doesn't matter much to me.  I'm far more interested in the long term potential of the technology and innovation.

Are you . . . butthurt

Nah.  Can't imagine why anyone would be, unless they did something stupid like hold a devastating amount of their personal savings in a volatile and risky new technology.

or have you already cashed out?

No.  I'm continuously acquiring more bitcoins whenever I have any disposable income.  My goal at the moment is to slowly increase the amount of bitcoins that I hold within my financial ability do so without exposing my self to devastating risk.

(2) Will you buy back into BTC if the price goes below $50?

Yes.
And if it goes below $220, and below $210, and below $200, and below $190.
And if it goes above $270, and above $300, and above $350, and above $500, and above $1000.

As I've said already, the price doesn't really matter much to me right now. I still see long term potential, and am not going to waste my time trying to guess what the market will do tomorrow (or next month, or next year).

(3) Where do you . . . see the BTC price in a month?

Somewhere between $4 and $10,000.  Any guess at a range smaller than that is pure guessing, and anyone who guesses correctly isn't "skilled", they just got lucky.

Whenever I see your or D&T post, I get back the confidence to hold back my few satoshis Smiley
1266  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is announced bitcoin Ponzi/Pyramid Scheme illegal? on: January 12, 2015, 09:26:32 PM
Hi guys,
I know that pyramid scheme is illegal in many countries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_scheme

But a question rised in the Weekly Ponzi v3 thread. Is using this scheme illegal, if someone is marketing his website as a ponzi gambling site? Considering the fact that the ponzi is using btc and not fiat currency.

Hope some of you are more informed that I am  Smiley

I think it would come under the same category as of gambling sites. If gambling is considered illegal, then declared ponzis are illegal too... otherwise not.
1267  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ Cloudmining 101 (ponzi risk assessment) ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁ on: January 12, 2015, 09:15:56 PM
No they diid not. There was no hardware. In T&C  same was the property of the users and could be redeemed.
I'll rephrase.
Assuming that CEX.IO has enough hardware to cover their sold mining power, do you think that them suspending the current accounts until such a time that mining revenue > maintenance fees necessarily implies that they have actually shut off the assumed hardware?

AFAIK, Cex.IO's mining firm is Ghash.IO's own hardware and as I can see Ghash.IO is still mining with 12% (ref: https://blockchain.info/pools), i.e. their own hardware are still running.
1268  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO Suspends Cloud Mining............. on: January 12, 2015, 09:11:45 PM
This is bad news for the BTC community.

LOL. No.
Actually it's good news lmao.

instead of the LOL's how about you state the good news that so obviously awaits us  Shocked

Cloud mining is shit. It's borderline scam. People who do it are stupid. If the service isn't available anymore, stupid people won't lose money. I suppose you could argue that is good news.

Well it's going to be shit news for you if you bought hashes to trade with instead of mine with.

Nobody will be buying.

This is indeed taking down the GigaHash price in Cex platform. Right now 1 Ghs costs 0.00076183 BTC on Cex (ref: https://cex.io/#GHS-BTC), which is the cheapest in the industry. They might even buy back at a lower price.
1269  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will the difficulty go down again ? on: January 12, 2015, 05:45:08 PM
How things have turned out in last few days...

https://alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator
Next difficulty retarget occurs at block 338687.0 (eta 9.5 days): 45304559740.5 / +11.5% [est.]

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty
Estimated Next Difficulty:   45,267,844,451 (+11.38%)
Adjust time:   After 1518 Blocks, About 9.6 days

So, I assume, at 300+ USD, miners are still making profit.

Difficulty jump is +8.19%.

Cex.io is closing its cloud mining operation.

I guess, more coming.

1272  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: CoinLearn.org : Newbie Learning + Hourly Earning on: January 02, 2015, 06:14:11 PM
Will the payouts be increased?

We read a 2 minute paragraph for an hour.

It is more important to increase Q/A rather than the payout. Consider contributing here => https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=568942
I know it is. Thanks for letting me know about that.

I'll start adding something soon.

Ya... a community approach to build the Q/A DB would be great.
1273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In which language top gambling sites are coded ? on: January 02, 2015, 06:09:49 PM
i think they are coded in php,asp and flash using solid frameworks
IMO asp C# is a good choice to create such site with higher security

IMO ASP is not good at all for gambling sites...
1274  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CloudMining.website is offering 1 GHs @ 0.001 BTC | 5% affiliate commission on: December 31, 2014, 09:48:56 AM

And what was the reason?
Did you ask for help to CM.W?

I think hold and re-investment features were ON for him.
1275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Governor of the central bank of India is speaking positively on Bitcoin on: December 31, 2014, 09:46:29 AM
Bankers will never support Bitcoin, he's just blushing....

RBI is an autonomous regulatory body in India. They are not involved into public banking.
1276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Governor of the central bank of India is speaking positively on Bitcoin on: December 30, 2014, 06:06:54 PM
I thought India was super against Bitcoin. What happened?

India was not super against Bitcoin, just smart enough not to buy on a bubble and allow the Western geeks a chance to cash out, like the Chinese did.

In fact, we saved a lot of money because the RBI notice about bitcoin came on time. We would have lost a lot of money by now, if they did not make us aware about the downside of the bubble. Now, as I hear +ve words from the governor, I feel more confident to invest in Bitcoin.

The server 'cowboy' you list for MoneyPot.com and PrimeDoes doesn't exist, that's just a header that heroku's reverse proxy adds. The actual webserver MoneyPot uses is raw node.js (for better or worse). The front-end framework we use is react (from facebook) and works quite well. BTW the entire MoneyPot.com stack is open source: https://github.com/moneypot

Frontend updated as React for MoneyPot. As I can see, the backend is already node.js for both PD & MP. If it is not CowBoy, then what are the servers for them ?

I imagine this is Raghuram Rajan, he used to be an academic at the University of Chicago
A smart, progressive man by all accounts

In case if someone does not know over here, Dr. Rajan is an electrical engineer from IIT. So, to understand bitcoin, he does not need to rely on what is being briefed to him or being reported in the media. He can understand it directly from the bitcoin whitepaper.
