Anyone know the time estimate until MAID is at the level of functionality and usability as SC now? Also what are the major differences between the two? Both look very promising to me but I'm a n00b.
It's actually not a fair comparison to either project. For one, a lot of people are harping on the time frame for Maid since the crowd sale. They rewrote the code into Rust creating efficiency. That should be common knowledge and a given; the only other project that uses Rust, that I am aware of, is ETH...and I am unsure that they were using it before Maid (Maid was using it before Rust's official launch - My twitter feed exploded on that day and I only subscribed to Rust relevant people because of Maid). SC isn't bad. But their scope isn't the internet nor is it beyond that of Storj. That is a better comparison. Give props to the SC team for what they do - they deserve it. But they aren't a Maid competitor. No one is. Not even ETH. Maid is a niche project that happens to be really ambitious and I am okay with waiting to see what they do. They're inventing something. And the market can do what it wants but they are miles ahead of everyone in what they are trying to create. I'm already expecting things for summertime. They should take all the time they need. You're comparison of SC to Maid is unfair to both projects.

That.
It's not like the creation of the network is going to instantly create billions of coins. It's going to take a lot of time and a lot of users for those coins to be created. It is also worth noting that once the network is moving along, a lot of coins are going to be caught in the Safe ecosystem, trading their value for real world use such as storage or App access (micropayments).
It's sounds exciting and I am looking forward to it succeeding. It's a new way of interneting.

I still have some coins from the crowdfunding at a BTC adress. Is it safe there? Can I withdraw it from there everytime in future? Should I use OMni wallet to do so? THX
It is safe there as long as you control that BTC address and Priv key. You can withdraw at anytime in the future but if you choose to keep it there then you are going to need to pay attention to when the Safecoin conversion occurs. No one knows how this will occur but it will likely involve sending Maidsafe coin to a specified address and then withdrawing Safecoin. Don't want to miss that. Omniwallet is currently the only option. I have used it with success. Just follow all of the necessary steps. That said, keeping it with your BTC address until the transfer isn't a bad idea unless you want to send to an exchange. thx for your helpful answer. This is a BTC adress in my Blockchain wallet. How do I get there the priv key? http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/7536/how-do-i-export-my-private-keys-from-my-bitcoin-qt-clientDo each step carefully and with caution. You don't want anyone to get your priv key.

Somebody know how the price market for MAID will look like upcoming weeks/months?
The build up to the release of this has been huge. The scope of the project is enormous. I think when it gets released, the press will be all over it and not just crypto press but all press. It reaches far beyond crypto subculture. I can honestly see this being the most talked about project of 2016 apart from maybe Ethereum. when does it get released? The Maidsafe Dev update occurs roughly every Tuesday. Your question is roughly the question that is addressed. I recommend going to the Safe forums ( https://forum.safenetwork.io/ ) and subscribing. That said, The MVP is close but won't be released this week. Soon...(happy dance) x10 it will go? ^^ Patience. They're inventing things. I think the price can do that but the market has players that make speculation like that unpredictable. I'm not not buying is all I have to say.

Lol, I'm too "an old guy" that also started to code in a ZX Spectrum about 30 years ago, but I still code and enjoy it. Seems that being old and coder leads you to invest in VNL, why should it be?
And to the Hyena, I would tell him to be careful with old guys. We are not so over as he thinks, and everyone has one leg in the grave: it just takes a second to stop being alive. When I was young I also thought that I was inmune, but life proves you wrong.
Ok this is getting old and boring already. For the record, I have nothing against old guys. Just because I sometimes refer to them as old fucks doesn't mean shit. I also refer to fat guys as fat fucks and overly moral people as moralfags. It's a figure of speech and does not reflect any personal rage against old or fat people. But it is funny to see how people sometimes think otherwise and start defending "their kind". I doubt that you are a founderfag so shut the eff up and read (=try to understand) what is being said. That said, relax. Pronoun posturing on the internet has a time and place. You should know that based on the rhetoric that you are using. It's not funny when communities are not amenable. Malleability...it's also a social strategy. ----------------------------------- Respect to John Conner - who can read/write/manifest a language that I can't and then put it into the world. Major props to the VNL community....

44,000,000 SLK will be the initial money supply. Each year, because of the static PoS block reward of 2 SLK, only 986,175 SLK will be minted. The total money supply of Silk is hardcoded to 2 billion SLK and the network should reach that supply in about 1984 years.
My bold. That is presuming that every current SILK holder goes through the swap, correct? If not everyone SILK wallet participates, then the number could be less if I am not mistaken, n'est-ce pas? So it should be 44,000,000 less than or equal to will be the initial money supply. Might be an irrelevant point but wonderings occur. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nice Incorporation, SLievensDRKSLK, by the by...
