1921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SFC] SafeCoin - The Real Safecoin. May Launch on: May 01, 2014, 07:01:45 AM
SafeCoin has literally nothing in common with MaidSafeCoin.

So., erm, Maidsafe is working on a decentralized internet.  If your Safecoin has literally nothing in common with them then what benefits over that are we talking?

And I am not sure Monero (Which is not Bytecoin) has failed just yet as stated in the OP. It started less than a week ago.

I am not sure about anything else as you say that there is much more 'benchmarking' and 'debating' to be done.

I'm not trying to bust chops but there is some information that seems not true or not accurate or however you might want to put it...
1922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: May 01, 2014, 03:37:25 AM
What do you think he intended?  It's shows a racist idiot (rawdog) claiming he's an official representative of this coin, which is indeed totally embarrassing for those involved and a warning for those who are thinking about investing.  I would never invest in anything that has an official idiot on staff.  Does that make sense or are you still in the unknown?

I would like to see proof that he is a part of Staff and the acceptance of said racism by the developers of Maidsafe prior to attributing racism to the entire project.  Especially since David Irvine, the head of Maidsafe, tweeted the following -

Quote
With #safecoin I will set up a farmer for African villages and will pay direct to wallets of real people, decentralised globalisation!

Other tweets from his account certainly suggest the opposite of racism.

If he is an idiot on staff (rawdog) than perhaps that should be addressed but I certainly don't think that it is representative of the project.

So I stand by what I stated...I see a lot of ad homs and wasn't going to believe a guy who said something in one post on the internet-especially a guy who posted the following on a Maidsafe/Mt. Gox thread -

Quote
lol!  I was the troll that sent him into a rage.  And the Jesus meme was for me.  I tell ya, guys are so fucking easy these days.  The troll business is definitely booming.  Did you guys forget? - it's the internet.

Credible troll is credible?

If so, please show me.

Not sure what you are intending with the link to that particular page.  I see a lot of bickering and not a lot of comprehension.

For one, the IPO seemed like it was underestimated.  I actually woke up in the middle of the night to participate.  But many did not.  While I used BTC as I had no desire to go through Mastercoin, even I had no idea it would go so fast - I just wanted to be a part of what the Maidsafe is doing (seriously, read their material; good times).

For two, transferring Maidsafe is not easy now as it requires a wallet capable of transferring Smart Property which I am thinking Maidsafe, as a proxy coin, is classified as.  As far as I understand, version 4 of Master Wallet will indeed fix that problem as is mentioned on that page though I don't know when.  Remember, the IPO was intended to last 30 days and all of the technical aspects of transferring Maidsafe is presumed to have been done in that time, so technically, that aspect is still on schedule.

For three, I participated because I knew that this was a long term project.  I didn't expect anything to happen overnight and while the IPO did, until Maidsafe is integrated into other exchanges/is user friendly like other alt coins, the rest of it is going to need to catch up and that might not happen until Maidsafe is exchanged for the proper and USEFUL Safecoin.

So.  That is my answer. I still don't know what the intended page link was supposed to convey but it sounds like a lot off topic and ad hominems.
1924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MaidSafeCoin to Reach $1(100x gain) This Week? on: April 29, 2014, 01:46:34 AM
When will MasterCoin Wallet v 4 be released....I thought it was today.  Until it is released there is no easy way to transfer Maidsafe...

1925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 28, 2014, 06:23:10 PM
Have BTC investors received the maidsafecoins already?

Yes.
1926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 27, 2014, 01:55:47 AM
No worries and I mean it wholeheartedly.  I think a lot of the dialogue and criticism (which is putting it mildly in some cases) in this thread is overlapped by the very many people who are here for speculative means only and have not afforded themselves the luxury of familiarizing themselves with the available information on the people, intentions and product of Maidsafe.

So yeah...go kick ass and take names (not literally of course).  Decentralized internet sounds pretty useful...Wink

Just wanted to say major props to the Maidsafe team.  I especially appreciate the mind toward community and am looking forward to seeing what you guys can do.
1928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 26, 2014, 06:32:55 PM
I think that one of the major issues is that MSAFE is still a proxy coin that will be exchanged for Safecoin in the nearish future.  Couple that with the fact that the proxy coin is not very user friendly and is difficult for the average user and I am not surprised people are unloading at this point.

I think there will be a different story when everything is up and running.  For now...I might even just leave the few MSafe I acquired on the QT wallet and wait to even see them properly when the Mastercoin wallet catches up or until its time to exchange for Safecoiin proper.

Cool...thanks guys.  I'll worry about moving them when they get here. No real intention to do that immediately...

We need to see one of two things now. We need either to see the Safecoins showing up in our Masterchest or other Mastercoin wallets. Or we need to see the actual working MaidSafe platform. Either way, if they don't want to or can't, what choice do we have outside of litigation? However, we went into it with our eyes wide open (shut?).

I have a potentially n00b question.  I used a Bitcoin QT wallet to send my Bitcoin.  I had no reason to think that I needed to do otherwise based on what I read.  So I should receive the Maidsafe coins in that wallet, right?  Or did I need a Mastercoin wallet?  I'm not worried about their process; they update their progress consistently on safecoin.io and I have received what I think was part of the testing of their automated dispersal...I am just wondering now (Lolz if it is too late) if I should have used a Mastercion wallet...
1931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 24, 2014, 12:09:35 AM
Since they evidently have been around a while, I assume some people knew of them. I just find the amount that the IPO has taken in, at this speed, really somewhat odd.

I don't. Decentralized internet is a huge step.

I didn't think they would be accepting any more BTC when I woke up in my timezone.  And apparently the only reason they were is because of the decision to buy out the remaining MSC in order to allow for continued BTC purchases...so technically they sold out before I woke up.

I thought you were quoting the father in A Christmas Story there for a moment.

More Fraggle Rock meets the Renaissance Faire...

Anyway, although MaidSafe does appear real, and they have all the devs/employees listed upon their website, the way the IPO was carried out does seem very peculiar. A LOT of money was put into this IPO, with very little (like no) pre-announcement, little fanfare and very little in the way of buildup. It did feel almost like someone put up a random IPO post, and cash just flew their way.

Unlike something like Ethereum, which most here have heard of, I am not sure if many heard of MaidSafe before. When I first saw the thread title, I thought... oh no... a coin for hiring cleaning workers...

I was aware of Maidsafe months before this and heard of them at about the same time as Ethereum.  It should be noted that Ethereum postponed there IPO in January because of community concerns and that this particular IPO happened so fast that it is reasonable to say that there was little to done to anticipate this amount of demand.  Ethereum is likely watching this very closely to see what worked and what didn't and as well a gauging point for demand.

This isn't something new that just happened; many have been waiting months for this.  For the record...since I don't want this to be any more about Ethereum...I like what Maidsafe is doing better and that is why I am here saying what I am.

If people don't put the effort out to do the research then I can't really defend the logic behind reactionary posts.  That isn't intended to be derogatory...just a statement of fact.

So you joined  Bitcointalk a few hours after this IPO started? lol

Long time lurker.  Lots to be said for Lurking MOAR...

Because reading and stuff...Smiley

Apologies to the thread - I am off topic and will not continue it.  Thank you.

So what are you all going to say when he runs away with your coins? This scam is so obvious. I'm guessing the actual investments are somewhere around 100 BTC, which will make it worth his while.
I'll say, "Forflaggern shorfuentifn...sdhuewiudjkn!!!"

Because that is what English sounds like in the alternate universe you seem to be proposing...Wink

DIrvine is stout...little effort to verify and Maidsafe is way more than a BC clone which is what WC is and seemingly the basis of your expertise.  Cheers!

"we are processing the BTC manually, but looks like the Master Protocol guys may automate this for us. We are updating the site now to explain this process and the intention. It seems there may be 24-48 delay on seeing the MSAFE coins, but the blockchain confirms receipt of the BTC and we have created a spreadsheet detailing all the tx that we were using for the manual process."

Could you please provide a link in this thread when the site is updated?

1936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ann] Safecoin maidsafecoin on: April 22, 2014, 10:37:08 PM
I sent a bitcoin about 2 hours ago, the website says nothing about being sold out. What happens now?
They said it would take approximately 24 hours for BTC addresses to be credited if I am not mistaken...
