1921  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [MINER] Phoenix - New efficient, fast, modular miner **BFI_INT support!** on: October 02, 2011, 08:57:50 PM
Ok so I installed 1.64 (replacing 1.50) and my 5870s perform about 10 MH/s faster.  However, my 5970 is about 10 MH/s slower per core, so I guess it's a wash.  Anybody have any tips on parameters for a 5970?  I'm currently using BFI_INT VECTORS FASTLOOP=FALSE AGGRESSION=11 WORKSIZE=256 -k phatk2 and getting about 390 MH/s per core at 910/200MHz.

Where did you find phoenix 1.64? Latest that's publicly out is 1.6.2.
1922  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: AMD Catalyst™ Control Center / AMD Vision™ Engine Control Center 11.9 Released! on: October 02, 2011, 03:15:50 AM
Tried it on linux. CPU usage still sucks balls even with only one GPU. Back to 11.6...

Is it possible at all to get multi gpu mining working with no cpu bug with sdk >=2.4? on windows that is.
1923  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Underclocking the Memory Frequency? on: October 01, 2011, 01:43:53 AM
In addition to using less power (which means lower electricity bill = more net profit), there are certain memory timing thresholds at certain frequencies, as well as a few peaks of performance relating to worksize. I did an exhaustive amount of benches at various memory speeds. It's a little out of date and I really should run it on current kernels.

1924  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to push my 5870 harder? on: September 29, 2011, 09:44:11 AM
Yes, thats the tool I use.

At stock speeds of 850/1200 @ 1.163v (some cards have other stock voltages. I have an MSI in the basement that's 1.125v stock) using the same miner but WORKSIZE=128 (it works better at higher memory speeds), I get 386.2 mhash. Temperatures fall to 53c GPU core and 54c on the VRM.
1925  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to push my 5870 harder? on: September 29, 2011, 09:26:17 AM
Stock speeds are 850/1200 @ 1.163v. It's OC'd to 1080/330 @ 1.237v.
I used Sapphire Trixx to set clocks (MSI Afterburner acts weird with multi GPU, and AMD GPU Tool messes with timings)
Used to have a reference-style cooler on it. 85-90C @ 1015/330 1.2v. Fan broke. Replaced with Zalman VF3000A. The temperature you see there is correct.

All I'm trying to do is eek out a few more scraps of speed, but if I can't, I can live with it knowing I broke the 500 mhash wall.
1926  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / How to push my 5870 harder? on: September 29, 2011, 08:41:06 AM
Basically trying to squeeze every ounce of power out of this 5870. I don't directly pay for elecricity; I just pay a flat amount for utilities every month, which doesn't change. Anything here I can do?
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate (Aero disabled), Catalyst 11.9 release, GUIMiner v2011-08-24, Phoenix 1.6.2 PHATK2 VECTORS AGGRESSION=14. Worksize defualts to 256 and BFI_INT is on by default as well.
1927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining with Catalyst 11.9rc on: September 29, 2011, 08:08:14 AM
11.9 release out.
Win7 ult x64.
Single GPU = no cpu bug up to aggression 10. Aggression 11 = 40% cpu, 12 = 80%, 13+ = 100%.
2+ GPU = 100% cpu bug, can't be fixed at all by miner settings.

11.10 preview out too, havent been tested yet.
1928  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: AMD Catalyst™ Control Center / AMD Vision™ Engine Control Center 11.9 Released! on: September 29, 2011, 08:04:40 AM
It doesn't fix 100% CPU bug for multiple GPU.  If you have a single GPU it fixes the 100% bug then again AMD created that bug in 11.7.

The 100% CPU w/ multiple GPU which has been around for 2.5 years now still hasn't been fixed by AMD despite it being an outstanding issue, reported on their forum, and updated with every single driver release.

11.9 release is out and 11.10 preview is out too. 11.9 release fixes cpu bug on single gpu but only on low aggression. Anything higher than 10 aggression and I start getting significant cpu (11 = 40%, 12 = 80%, 13+ = 100%)
1929  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: increase your performance with ati 5850 on: September 26, 2011, 02:55:39 AM
Doesnt work, already posted why. its a gui glitch. you arent actually doing that many mhash. mine at multiple pools and compare actual shares submitted with your mhash, it'll be lower than expected if you use gui hash.

Only 12 posts. Can anyone verify if this guy is legit? Smells fishy.
1931  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: i0coin --> BTC Trade on: September 25, 2011, 04:23:14 AM
How did you solo mine? Just set up an i0coin.conf file in C:\Users\<currentuser>\AppData\Roaming\I0coin with contents of..

Code:
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=password
server=1
rpcallowip=192.168.*.*

and point your miners to the local IP of the computer running i0coin client (in my case 192.168.137.1) with username = user and password = password and port = 7332

then your client magically generates i0coins?

GUIMiner on all my miners is showing the normal amount of mhash they usually do, no accepted shares, no stale shares, and the console shows phoenix 1.6.2 is connected, and it's been like that for about an hour. I got about 2500mhash.

Is this just bad luck at difficulty of 620? Though I'd have gotten a block by now <_<

Edit: Never mind! Generated my first block 9 blocks ago! I must've done it right! Smiley
1932  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Sapphire 5830 reaches 90C, but fan speed stays ~50% on: September 18, 2011, 09:11:52 PM
5830 sapphire extreme 995/325 mhz 1.63 core volts generally 60C  (uk avg temps now 15C, rig is in my garage)
5830 XFD 950/325 1.63 core generally 62C

Whoa, isn't 1.63V waaay high?  Maybe you mean 1.163V?

this. 1.63v will kill a card in seconds. surely you mean 1.163?
1933  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5850 sudden runaway temperature on: September 18, 2011, 09:10:48 PM
WOOOOOOOSH VOLTAGE! LOL
1934  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Fastest GPU miner on: September 18, 2011, 02:54:34 AM
I've become quite accustomed to the user-friendly GUIMiner. Coupled with the latest phoenix and phatk2, I'm getting insane hash rates on my cards I have dedicated mining on. All cards @ 330 memory, 14 aggression, default worksize, vectors, and bfi_int unless specified.

5830 @ 970 core, 315.2 mhash, 40-70C (Outside computer, high variance based on weather)

5830 @ 1035 core, 336.7 mhash, 56C (Basement)
5830 @ 1015 core, 330.5 mhash, 53C (Basement)
5870 @ 1055 core, 489.0 mhash, 62C (Basement)

5830 @ 900 core 1000 memory, AGGRESSION=4 WORKSIZE=128 FASTLOOP=true, 243mhash, 70-75C (Living room PC. used sparingly for movies/browsing)

5830 @ 925 core 1075 memory, AGGRESSION=4 WORKSIZE=128 FASTLOOP=true, 270-283 mhash while browsing, 285 peak, ~200 while gaming, 70-75C (Gaming PC, outputs to display)
5870 @ 1040 core, 482.5 mhash, 61C (Gaming PC, dedicated mining card)

Not entirely sure why the major slowdown on the 5830 in living room; can crank up AGGRESSION but high responsiveness is needed in order to decode movies via DXVA since celeron 420 isn't strong enough to decode 1080p movies with just CPU power.
1935  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Sapphire 5830 reaches 90C, but fan speed stays ~50% on: September 18, 2011, 01:35:55 AM
I have my XFX 5830 clocked to 975/350 with the fan manually set to 75% and it idles around 79c

Are you running Crossfire? That number seems very high unless you're doing some extreme overclocking.

79c idle? That is EXTREMELY high for idle. I believe you meant "under load". "Idle" means the GPU isn't doing anything, not "it's temperature isn't changing".
1936  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What is the best Graphics Card for mining? on: September 18, 2011, 01:34:14 AM
curretnly the 5770 isn't a bad bang for buck.
doesn't use to much power either.
just need to find it on sale.

5770s are really great if you can control the heat, and have lots of open slots for them =p
i made a cheep waterblock for mine and for mining it is doing well

That is... so... awesome... Ghetto, but awesome..

+1 I like seen inivation and inventiveness Smiley

thanks...
except for CPU i have my hole machine watercooled this way.
MB

Ram

but this is going off topic...

Could I pay you for ghetto waterblocks for my sapphire 5830 and reference 5870? 1/2 inch ID Smiley
1937  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cannot get 5830 above ~225 mhash/sec on: September 18, 2011, 01:28:05 AM
wildboy you still watching this thread? Make sure you guiminer is updated. The newest one comes with a new phoenix, and with that comes a new phatk kernel. You had these arguments.

-k phatk VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=8 FASTLOOP=false WORKSIZE=256

Try these.

-k phatk2 VECTORS AGGRESSION=8

Switches to the new phatk 2.2 kernel. BFI_INT is on by default now, WORKSIZE defaults to the largest your hardware can do (256), and FASTLOOP is off by default as well.
1938  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830 PROBLEMS on: September 18, 2011, 01:11:23 AM
YOu can definately get more mhashes our of your 5830. I'm getting 336.7 on mine running 1035/330. GUIMiner, phoenix, -k phatk2 VECTORS AGGRESSION=14
1939  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5850 sudden runaway temperature on: September 18, 2011, 01:04:01 AM
Are the fans still spinning? Going to guess yes, because I see the motherboard temperature went up too. Monitor the voltage of your GPU. It would appear that something is causing it to shoot up to max voltage is my guess

What happened to the average shares/block and shares/block in last 24 hours on stats page? Why was it deleted?
