Bumping for sharing refurb links!
1702  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: 12.3 WHQL release ... ) on: March 31, 2012, 01:05:44 AM
I have the same problem with this version that first came up with 12.2. When using cgminer 2.3.1-2, SDK 2.1 and phatk kernel on a 5870, my hashrate is normal, but the miner never submits any shares. Downgrading to 12.1 helps.

Same. I was wondering why my 2.1 sdk wouldnt submit shares but 2.6 would.

Also windows.
1703  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Phoenix 2 beta discussion on: March 31, 2012, 01:03:41 AM
Jedi, could you please push a windows build with the fix to allow 2.1 sdk to work with the newest phoenix beta? i've been stuck with rc1 for a long time, and I had to format to allow booting off ssd, but now my miner while using 2.1 sdk won't create shares (either accepted or rejected, nothing) even though it shows it hashing and my gpu temperature goes up. 5 minutes with no shares and 450mhash is not the result of randomness, its a bug :/

I also deleted all .elfs in the phatk2 plugins folder to make it recompile.

I need more information to isolate the problem.

Please test RC2 with the kernels from RC1. I need to know if the problem is at the kernel level or something else.

You already fixed it though IIRC, you just never made a windows build for the fix.

Hmm, RC1 works flawlessly. I tried RC2 but it's bugged bad? I thought it might have been incompatible with sdk 2.1 (wont hash at all), so I tried 2.6. It has a different error, but it hashes slow compared to 2.6, and I refuse to use 2.6 and be forced to use high memory clocks and waste power.

back to using rc1 until bug is fixed.

A fix for this bug has been pushed to the Git repo.

1704  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: What miner do you use? on: March 30, 2012, 03:33:55 AM
I use phoenix 2 beta, gives me most mhash out of all the available windows options on my 58xx cards.
1705  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: 12.3 WHQL release ... ) on: March 30, 2012, 03:31:57 AM
Do not use. Not able to overclock anything (shows as 0 core and 0 memory).
1706  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overclock softwares show 0 for Core and Mem on: March 30, 2012, 01:04:08 AM
I can verify that 12.3 causes 0 core 0 memory bug in trixx. Had to downgrade. I initially picked 11.11 as downgrade, forgot about the CPU bug, upgraded to 12.1.

Yeah, as you guys said it just doesn't seem right in theory.  Whether the CUDA miner or something else needs to be adjusted or re-written for the Kepler architecture is just my guess, it's too bad to not see it mine well.

FWIW, Folding @ Home (Stanford) has also said they have to recompile their program to work with the new architecture.  Thus while normally Folding is a strong suit for Nvidia, it also is "broken" on the Kepler cards for the moment.

Might also just need a newer driver.  Hopefully if that's the case, Nvidia won't take 3 months to release one.  Normally it seems like they get new cards' drivers out very fast (updated ones I mean, rather than the stock).  Here's hoping!

Folding @ Home is broken because nVidia broke it.  The cards have way less DP/SP floating point performance than a 560 Ti.  It's part of nVidia's new tactic of making their lower end architecture useful only for gaming.

just means amd is gonna get that much more money from people that want to use gpus for gpgpu since amd gpgpu is hugely better than anything nvidia has ever offered

in the kilohash range indicates you were cpu mining. your settings must be wrong, double check you're mining on gpu and not cpu.

Someone said "Try RPCMiner-CUDA with the CUDA dev kit, something doesn't sound right." in the main 680 thread.

There has been a lot of speculation about the GTX 680's hashing power, but no real results with optimized mining code. There are many brands being sold at Newegg now.

Wow, saw this thread with some new posts and a scammer is actually giving refunds now? :O What is this world coming to?!

But grats guys. Too bad the person that scammed me wasn't "nice" enough to refund me..

escrow? 6990 is srs bzns and lots of people try to scam with 6990's.
1714  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Need info about Catalyst 12.2 and effect on mining performance on: March 23, 2012, 07:25:56 AM
People seem to be having problems with GPU's "disappearing" when upgrading to 12.2. 11.12/12.1 seem to be the current sweetspot. Personally I use 11.12. The drivers themselves don't affect hash rates though. SDK's do. Make sure to use the appropriate SDK for your cards. If your card can run on 2.1 SDK, do it (all 5xxx can run on it, and low to mid/high 6xxx can too). 2.4/2.5 is maybe <1% slower but is compatible with VLIW4 architecture (6970), and 2.6 should be avoided unless you are using a GCN architecture video card (7970).
1715  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Fan Speed Bug? (ATI - 5850) on: March 22, 2012, 01:20:10 AM
oh, that bug. yeah if your gpu is overheating, it'll throttle gpu speed and it'll also go to a different fan curve, nothing you can do about it except cool to gpu better before it throttles.
1716  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: PCI to PCI-E converter? on: March 21, 2012, 02:35:30 AM
To be on topic, the pictured PCI to PCI-E converter works fine for mining.  I have one for myself, and hash rates do not suffer at all. Be careful though as the PCI spec doesn't offer as much power as current gen PCI-E slots do. I didn't have any problems running an unpowered riser from that converter to a radeon 5830. It was overclocked core and overvolted slightly and underclocked memory
1717  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Fan Speed Bug? (ATI - 5850) on: March 20, 2012, 04:18:35 AM
Uninstall driver, reboot, use driver cleaner (it'll revert to the previous driver version for some reason and be impossible to reinstalla  different version), reboot, install driver + the SDK you want without CCC, should be good to go. I always had problems with CCC installed. Also 2.6 SDK is terrible for the 5xxx series. Use 2.1 + underclocked memory frequency (~330-350 for 256 worksize and 160-205 for 128 worksize which is a tiny bit slower but a little less power used) for optimum 5xxx performance.

I've been trying to get the mushkin chronos deluxe 240gb for about 2 weeks now. Whenever I get an email that they are in stock, they are already out of stock.
1719  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Fan Orientation Failure Poll on: March 11, 2012, 07:02:49 AM
2 reference 5870's 1 was upside down, other was normal. Both failed. Also had a sapphire 5830 hub down having some internal friction; drilled hole + wd40 seems to have fixed it so far.
1720  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Phatk2 Mod (Already seeing improvement!) on: March 11, 2012, 06:58:33 AM
Any news?

interested in this too. I would test the kernel, but really has to be in a format where I can just put the kernel files where the other kernels are and just use it. no copy pasting of code, no special configuring inside the kernel (aside from kernel-specific options like setting GOFFSET to true), because I wouldn't know what to do. This is probably the case for other people that are interested too: they see you worked on phatk2 and see positive results and want to use it, but have no clue how to implement it.

Can we please get a kernel.cl and __init__.py, preferably phoenix 2.0 beta compatible?
