actually you can get the estimated next difficulty by going here:

http://blockexplorer.com/q/estimate

and anyone who follows the Bitcoin world closely can get a pretty good idea that difficulty has stabilized and wont go up again dramatically unless the values spike up really high again.

Nice necro brah.
1942  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Look... all these GPU miners waste 100% CPU time for nothing... WHY?! on: September 14, 2011, 09:57:00 PM

Sempron 140 with 3 x 6950 modded to 6970. Cata 11.6. Hashing speed drops when I connect with teamviewer on the computer and ~10% cpu is teamviewer alone.

which sdk? 2.1, 2.4, or 2.5?
1943  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: further improved phatk OpenCL Kernel (> 4% increase) for Phoenix - 2011-08-27 on: September 14, 2011, 09:55:47 PM
Diapolo, i tried the latest kernel and you say that if BFI int is supported it will be enabled, well on my 5870 it wasnt...
So from 385 i went to 334mh/s

That's strange, could you check if your OpenCL driver reports cl_amd_media_ops as available (via GPU Caps Viewer).

Thanks,
Dia

Did he even bother to post what flags he was using? I know there was some confusion between VECTORS and VECTORS2 between yours and phateus kernels. It sounds like he's only doing 1 nonce per execution instead of 2.
1944  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling GPUs 5970/5870s on: September 14, 2011, 08:27:37 AM
are any of the cards still for sale... just wondering.. (nice update from buyer!)

Try PMing him.
1945  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: 2 GPU's, only showing 1 device on: September 13, 2011, 12:19:44 PM
I don't -need- to, I just like everything running tip-top.

OSes these days aren't meant to be spammed with formats. They adjust over time and perform optimally after it's "learned" the right way to load things. But, hey, its your money. Have fun replacing your hard drives after wearing them out. Smiley
1946  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: guiminer question on: September 13, 2011, 08:20:06 AM
-k phatk2 VECTORS AGGRESSION=14
for dedicated mining or no monitor plugged into it. WORKSIZE is not specified because it's not needed. it'll default to the largest worksize your card can do. Dedicated cards for mining should be running 300-350MHz on the memory for this.

or

-k phatk2 VECTORS WORKSIZE=128 FASTLOOP=true AGGRESSION=4
for any video adaptors that you actively are on the PC for (internet browsing, gaming, etc). You should not need to adjust your memory speed for this (1000-1300+ MHz)

Now my question to you is how are you using guiminer on sdk 2.1? with 2.1, guiminer for me won't find -any- adaptors. Are you sure you're using 2.1? double check with gpu caps program. 11.8 driver comes with 2.5 sdk.
1947  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: 2 GPU's, only showing 1 device on: September 13, 2011, 08:16:34 AM
11.7 and higher doesn't require dummy plugs.

also I don't get why you would need to reformat every week
1948  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling GPUs 5970/5870s on: September 13, 2011, 02:30:38 AM
I would imagine so. Been doing 1060/330 1.187v and 491 mhash/sec. 1070 is unstable, driver resets within about a minute. Will update if it crashes, or if its stable after 24 hours. Around these points, temperature is important, and if it's a warm day, sometimes 1 or 2 of my cards have to be restarted with a slightly lower speed.

Edit: 1055 stable for a few days now, 489 mhash.
1949  Economy / Marketplace / Re: List of honest traders. on: September 13, 2011, 01:54:21 AM
+1 netxshare

Sold me a 5870, I paid with dwolla. He sent out the package after the dwolla payment cleared and shipped with USPS priority mail and delivery confirmation, got in the mail today.
1950  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling GPUs 5970/5870s on: September 13, 2011, 01:17:56 AM
Bump.

Got my 5870 in the mail today. It was a reference Sapphire 5870. I've yet to plug it in, will edit when I do.

Edit: Seems to be a wonderful gem of a card. Currently at 1050/330 1.187v @ 66c (76c vrm) and 487MHash/sec in GUIminer. Might be able to push more, or it might not be stable right now. It's only been about 15 minutes Wink
1951  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What is the best Graphics Card for mining? on: September 12, 2011, 02:32:16 AM
curretnly the 5770 isn't a bad bang for buck.
doesn't use to much power either.
just need to find it on sale.

5770s are really great if you can control the heat, and have lots of open slots for them =p
i made a cheep waterblock for mine and for mining it is doing well

That is... so... awesome... Ghetto, but awesome..
1952  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5830 - best aftermarket heatsink fan cooler? on: September 12, 2011, 02:25:59 AM
This is a pretty obvious point, but if you haven't already switched to an open air case, this is the best cooling solution. I'm not sure how much aftermarket coolers would really help inside a case.

you'd be surprised
Max stable clocks for mining used
Reference 5870 with stock heatsink + fan @ 1015/330 1.187v 100% fan = 85c @ 24c ambient (increase of 61c)
Reference 5870 with Zalman VF3000A @ 1045/330 1.187v, assuming 100% fan (does not directly plug into card; it instead uses a "fanmate" which allows manual fan speed outside the control of your OS, or you plug it into your motherboard's fan headers) = 57c @ 24c ambient (increase of 33c)

This is inside a "closed" case with some fans screwed onto the side.

With a 5830, I imagine you can expect similar numbers. Maybe from 50c increase from ambient to an increase of 30c. There is a catch though. If your card is nonreference, it's possible the VF3000A will not fit. AFAIK, though, the 5830 extreme comes with it's own VRM heatsink, and the HSF assembly is just for the GPU core and clear of any other components, so a VF3000A -should- fit, granted the mounting holes are the same as a reference. You would just use the VRM heatsink that comes stock, and use the ramsinks as a bonus.

Also be aware the VF3000A blocks not one but TWO adjacent slots, so you will need to plan accordingly. The VF3000A runs about $50 USD, but you might be able to get lucky and find one for about $40.
1953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to get MtGox Live from freezing Firefox when there's lots of trades? on: September 09, 2011, 01:31:08 AM
Beside the fact that Tech Support is for the Client only Tongue

What I did was open a Chrome tab with just MtGox in it, so that if it gets locked up I'm not affected elsewhere

Pretty much what I do these days. Smiley
1954  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Look... all these GPU miners waste 100% CPU time for nothing... WHY?! on: September 08, 2011, 07:19:12 PM
phatk 2.2 was saying that it doesn't support my graphics cards when I had 11.6 and 2.1 SDK installed.

Regardless, I tried diapalo's phatk and the cpu bug was there anyways. Too much of a headache so i went back to 11.8 2.5
1955  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PCI-E ribbon cable question. 1 BTC bounty, read inside on: September 08, 2011, 02:50:19 AM
Well back on after fooling around with a ribbon cable and a card that didn't like to stay put. Hard "hard" can you bend the cable back on itself? Had problems with it bending into the 5830's fan and didn't want to break it.

At one point couple days ago, I tried 1x > [RAID] > 1x > [58xx] > PCI > [580xx] > PCI, and even though the screen came up, my bios moaned that the primary display adapter needed to be on the top PCI-E slot. ...... The hell? Does my board have a favorite color too? Hobbies? Favorite sport? I don't see why any ol PCI-E slot shouldn't work for primary display adapter..

I appreciate all this work you're going through these idea, celeron, and I hate shutting you down every time because of some nuiance. My excuse on the SATA extension cables is I've exhausted my budget for "fixing" stuff this month (5870 fan went bad, bought a VF1000 from someone on BTC forums only to find it's not powerful enough, had to buy a VF3000A from newegg. Also bought a cpu + board + ram for $50 only to lose the gamble and find the board doesn't work and buying a new board from newegg, wireleass keyboard/mouse, etc) and can't afford anymore new parts at the moment. The RAID card requires a PCI-E. The slot you propose me to move it to is an old-school PCI slot. Won't work.
No, read. You will be installing it above the PCI slot location using the extender.

Yeah, sorry. I re-read it after I typed my reply and re-looked at the picture, and understood what you meant. I edited my post above your post why that's not viable either Sad

I can certainly try, regardless, but I'm scared to anger the RAID gods, Drives like to drop out for apparently no reason several times a day, then stop having problems altogether for months on end.

Er, never mind. I see what you're trying to say. Unfortunately, the SATA cables that connect to the RAID card isn't long enough for the very top card (6 drive RAID 10).

It's a 3ware, 9650 SE, 8 ports (2x ports actually, but they split into 4 each, special connector)
1958  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: List of motherboard that require shorting pin A1 B17 for pci-e 1x to work. on: September 08, 2011, 01:49:51 AM
Note to self : shorting B1 with A17 will destroy the slot, but not the card.   Cheesy

wait, what? I was just trying to short these pins and now you guys re telling me it'll fry my board? so whats the point of this thread?
1959  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PCI-E ribbon cable question. 1 BTC bounty, read inside on: September 08, 2011, 01:48:09 AM
What can I short it with? So far I tried a garbage bag tie (flexible metal string with some paper wrapped around it) and it's either not thick enough, or I bent the pins in the PCI-E slot. <.<
1960  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PCI-E ribbon cable question. 1 BTC bounty, read inside on: September 08, 2011, 01:12:32 AM
Your miner cards aren't going to mind being in x1 slots as they don't need high data rates anyway. Your hash rate will be just as fast in an x1 slot as an x16 slot.

So you are better off putting the RAID card on an x16 extender in an x16 slot, and putting the miners on x1 extenders in x1 or x16 slots. Usually presence pin wires are needed when you want to put an x1 extender in an x16 slot since not all the x16 pins are being used - and this is only the case on some boards.

On my Gigabyte board I can use x1 in x16 without any pins shorted.

Thing is, this is my main PC that I game on. It uses a case 'n everything. I barely have enough room for 1 set of extenders for 1 floater, let alone 2.

Case is a Thermaltake Mozart TX. Here is a bad picture of part of the area of interest with a fan slapped on the side.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9768004/IM000468.JPG

I can try to put in a better picture later if I can find camera. Raid cables as well as water cooling tubes are a nuisance and in the way of putting a graphics card anywhere else, so thats why I wanted to move the RAID card.
