Hi, I pm'd you about 24 hrs ago. Do you know what is going on with the power supplies I ordered from you? I'm getting pretty close to just wanting a refund at this point.
942  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overclocking 5870 on: February 26, 2013, 06:16:03 AM
What crazyates said. cgminer and bfgminer have built-in clock setting that works fine with radeon 5000 series. If you don't want to screw around with that and prefer manually setting, try Sapphire trixx. It'll let you underclock RAM all the way to 10 MHz (or less?!). You just set the slider all the way to the left, hit apply, and the slider will shift to the right a little, letting you slide it further to the left.
943  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: I guess I understand the flags, now how to write a phoenix 2.0 config file? on: February 26, 2013, 06:11:12 AM
You have too many options/flags set that you probably do not even need to mess with. One example is you are declaring auto-detect, but you are manually declaring devices to mine on too?...
I crafted this config myself when I used phoenix 2 and it just -worked-.

Example of single-gpu setup
Code:
[general]
backend = http://15kZZVh28AA6Ya3232bCXC9FLMtYFnmHZd:x@mining.eligius.st:8337
verbose = true

[cl:0:0]
name = 5870
kernel = phatk2
AGGRESSION = 7
VECTORS = true
BFI_INT = true
WORKSIZE = 128

Example of multi-gpu setup
Code:
[general]
backend = http://15kZZVh28AA6Ya3232bCXC9FLMtYFnmHZd:x@mining.eligius.st:8337
verbose = true

[cl:0:0]
name = 5870 #1
kernel = phatk2
AGGRESSION = 7
VECTORS = true
BFI_INT = true
WORKSIZE = 128

[cl:0:1]
name = 5850 #2
kernel = phatk2
AGGRESSION = 12
VECTORS = true
BFI_INT = true
WORKSIZE = 128

[cl:0:2]
name = 5850 #3
kernel = phatk2
AGGRESSION = 12
VECTORS = true
BFI_INT = true
WORKSIZE = 128

I've heard very good things about these boards. If I were looking into putting together a mining rig, I'd be using one of those.

Able to populate all the slots at the same time, though you'll need to short PCI-E presence pins if using 1x risers.
945  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 3 BFL Singles on: February 25, 2013, 12:03:04 AM
I've been the victim of this type of scam about 2 years ago for a radeon 5850. I stated I paid for it in the thread, and another person said he paid for it too. It was clear that we both got scammed. I'm just trying to help you claw your money back before it's too late.
946  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What hardware goes with a 5870? on: February 24, 2013, 11:25:08 PM
i prefer 6+ slot motherboards and high end, high efficiency power supply. Motherboard MSI Z77A-G45 or MSI 890FXA-GD65 or 890FXA-GD70 (or gigabyte equivalents), celerons or semprons, 2gb ram, 1200 watt or higher single rail 80plus gold power supply (OCZ ZX 1250w, Rosewill Lightning 1300w, Corsair AX1200, etc), some 1x > 1x PCI-E risers, a couple PCI-E power plug splitters, and thats about it.
947  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Workstation cards. Why not? on: February 24, 2013, 11:21:56 PM
7750 uses nowhere NEAR 200 watts. You're probably measuring the entire computer, which is not how you measure it.. measure power of card only. thats what matters.

measure power without card, plug in card, measure power with no gpu load, measure again with load.
948  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 3 BFL Singles on: February 24, 2013, 11:18:49 PM
I used pp backed by a cc, which seemed safe.  Looks like I may find out just how safe.

I would chargeback as soon as you can. clorox stinks of scammer. He posted in Newbie section until he could get out and immediately went to "sell" bitcoins and BFL singles.
949  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 3 BFL Singles on: February 24, 2013, 10:54:23 PM
I'm pretty sure you guys just got scammed. Clorox only has 9 posts. Did you escrow?

Scammer made serious bank. 2000 dollars.
950  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 4x Avalon ASIC Paid Order. Batch #2 Order #778 on: February 24, 2013, 08:47:11 PM
Pretty sure you can't change shipping address.

Also can you ship to USA? I'm sure USA buyers will cover shipping costs plus extra.
951  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hashing modules - BitSyncom on: February 24, 2013, 04:17:49 AM

meh, I used to be a red-seal chef (I suppose I still am, I don't think my journeyman's certificate expires...) but now I don't cook, I live downtown, 3 or 4 blocks from, well, everything Wink I do eat out a lot (realized I like eating more than cooking) or I'll just get the pre-made salads and sandwiches from the organic store across the street, and yes, of course, the odd pizza now and then  Grin

and holy crap! 50 amps? how do you split that off? like, how can I use that power for various gpu/fpga/asic mining setups? without burning down the house hopefully...  Roll Eyes

I managed to figure this out, though with a 30 amp dryer socket in the basement. It's essentially the same with a stovetop socket. If it is a 4 prong socket, you ignore the neutral. Behold my leet mspaint skillz. I also actually built one, and it works great.

952  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS Rig or Parts - 3 5970's, MSI 890FXA Ram, CPU, PSU, extenders on: February 23, 2013, 07:13:37 AM
Thanks for the offer...  I keep spare fans around though.

Have you tried starting the 5970 at very low clocks (600-650ish) and waiting for it to heat up?  I've got 3 cards that do this (they need reflowed).  Once they are up to temperature though (60c+), they run flawlessly at higher clocks.

this is kidna whats happening to one of my 5970, but one of the cores wont accept any load at all (mining) unless the adjacent core heats it up to about 65-70C, then I can start it at normal clock speeds. It's a crappy card anyways though. Master maxes out at 740Mhz @ 1v, slave maxes at 755 @ 1v. Most of my other 5970 get about 770-800ish.

Of the 7 5970's I've gone through (still have 4), only 2 cores couldn't hit 900Mhz @ 1.125...  740 & 755 are really bad.  =p

I have one I run at 835-825 @ 1.05v, one at 800 (weak core #1)-845 @ 1.05v, another at 820-820 @ 1.05v, and the last at 820-810 (weak core #2) @ 1.05v.  In general, it's about +15Mhz per voltage increase (1.05 to 1.063 to 1.075 to 1.0875 to 1.1), though the 800 one caps out at somewhere between 866-875 (it crashed at 875 twice, haven't bothered going above 865 since then) and the 810 is similar, around 870-880.

The best one can do 950 (140 mem) @ (**ed: 1.150, not 1.250) (unsure past that, the VRMs were around 100 and I wasn't very keen on going any higher on the voltage anyway... the card never went above 70oC though, since ambient was around 25oF..).

I don't mess with them much anymore, pretty much gave up on the hassle of the testing, so they run at something below 1.05 when it's going to be > 70o outside, 1.05 @ <70o, 1.063 @ <60o, 1.075 @ <50o, etc.
I've had a few issues.... (like when the forecast is 55 and it's 68 or something)  They could use a nice cleaning but I'll just wait another month or two for that, I guess.

I don't overvolt. I undervolt. Some of us actually have to pay for their electricity.
953  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Large amount of PCI-E X1 riser cables on: February 22, 2013, 02:09:34 AM
Ok I understand now. So if I sold 1 big stone or 10 big stones, shipping price is the same... Strange way to calculate pricing!

I actually just got my 6 risers in the mail from china today. They weighed only 3.0 ounces (52 grams) with the rubber band and ESD packaging around each riser on the scale I have for weighing objects up to 7KG. I don't see how an increase from 0.5 ounces (1 riser) to 5 ounces (10 risers) would cost $20.65 in shipping expenses (0.077BTC * 9 * $29.80 USD/BTC exchange rate).

Just my 2 cents.
954  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Large amount of PCI-E X1 riser cables on: February 22, 2013, 01:12:03 AM
Hi. It's me again. I placed an order on bitmit for 10 risers. Same name as here. Price seemed good vs chinese. I ordered 6 risers from china about a month ago, they still havent shown up.
I will try to ship tomorrow or on Monday.

Thanks!

EDIT: I thought the shipping was added to the price. My mistake, the price you paid is standing.

The shipping was added, but it was a flat fee of 0.077BTC, regardless of quantity of risers. That's why I bought them Smiley

You're better off selling your pre-order. You'll get at least 3 times your money back immediately.
957  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: February 19, 2013, 11:55:50 PM
NEVER use a SATA to PCIe connector - don't know who the hell thought of that idea but that is just asking for a problem since the SATA connectors were never designed to deliver that much power.
How much power is SATA cable rated for?
I have 5830's that's undervolted, and was thinking of using SATA to PCI-E power cables.

IMO, just use PCI-E plug splitters. Some power supplies split a set of 6 wires (3 hot, 3 ground) to 2 6+2 plugs already (300 watts!). With SATA, you only have 1 hot and 2 grounds, and they are likely thinner gauge wire, plus the connectors are not rated for a significant power draw.

Here are the PCI-E power plug splitters that I use. They take in a 6 pin plug (or 6+2, but it only takes in 6) and output 2 6+2 plugs, essentially adding one additional PCI-E plug per splitter. I love them. They are $3 each with free shipping if bought in volume at newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812198018

I have received the combo from pbj. It was packed extremely well (Packing peanuts galore!), and albeit a little dusty, it was in perfect condition. All accessories were included as well. Recommended seller.

Mr asic miner thats mining at our pool, please don't go away! We're 0% fee! Hop-proof too!
960  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7970 vs 5970 power consumption on: February 17, 2013, 11:21:06 PM
Just because a power supply gets warm or hot doesn't mean it's a terrible power supply that's going to die in a couple days. It could just be better at pulling away heat from hotspots. Your Seasonics are great. You should not feel like you got ripped off with a trash power supply. They are top of the line. Parts of it are designed to have tolerances to temperatures over 100C.
