the 5 series is faster than 6 series as far as bitcoin mining is concerned, until someone figured out a faster kernel.

1125  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 5850s $60, 5970s $200 on: December 05, 2012, 03:29:34 AM
...Hmm. I was under the impression that my original offer and amount of cards was accepted, but guess that went out the window. Also weren't the 5770's $30 each?

I need to think about this now. :S Last time someone took offers on the same items, myself and one other person both got scammed, so it's bringing up uneasy feelings.
1126  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS: 5970s ~ $150 (650mh/s, 600kh/s stock) on: December 05, 2012, 12:40:05 AM
These will sell fast.
1127  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 5850s $60, 5970s $200 on: December 03, 2012, 11:43:40 PM
All 5770s and 5870s are pending sale and have been removed from the OP.

I have a lot more cards than listed in the OP, and will sell for the the right price- otherwise I'd only like to sell about 5 more 5970s and 5 5850s.

Thanks!

PS: Ssateneth, I am just now getting going on bench marking the cards, I might not finish until late tonight... just giving you a heads up.
s'Fine with me.
1128  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 5770s $30, 5850s $60, 5870s $70, 5970s $200 on: December 03, 2012, 06:22:51 AM
Ok.. I will try to answer all your questions.

1. Will you game test them?

I can test cards for gaming, sure. It might be a day or two for me to test them this way, but I can do it. Just let me know which card you're interested in and I will find one that games flawlessly (they all hash fine, so I imagine most game fine aswell.)  Grin

2. Will you ship to EU?

I will ship worldwide, but the customer must pay shipping.

I'm pretty sure I'm interested in all your 5770 and probably about 8 of your 5870's, preferably as many reference design as you can manage. I really hope that they are game worthy. Normally OCCT GPU:3D with error checking on, max shader level, and run about 10 minnutes is good enough to find significant problems as well as give it a good stress test/max temperature. I usually get maybe a couple errors every minute or so with a strong overclock, and zero with a stock clock; if there is something significantly wrong, usually it will get a huge amount of errors in the order of thousands or millions.

I'm pretty short on bitcoins atm though, but I can send paypal, dwolla, serve, popmoney, maybe something else. I have great ratings in #bitcoin-otc; my link to my otc ratings is in my sig. If you aren't sure I am the person in my sig though, feel free to hop in the channel check to see if I am who I say I am (Being authed and expressing interest in your cards should be proof enough)

Would you do $600 $730 shipped to 54501, USA for your 3 5770's and 8 10 5870's, all (hopefully) gameworthy and as many reference style 5870's as you can manage?

Sure, I will test them for gaming, but give me about 24 hours because 13 cards will take some time to test. I will get back to you tomorrow evening.

Great. I will eagerly wait your results. I have the full amount of money in the bank right now. It's just a matter of getting it to you one way or another.

wow that an awful lot of money for a card 2 generations old.
1131  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is this a Mistake or what? on: December 02, 2012, 03:59:28 AM
Newegg is completely sold out of 69xx cards, so scarcity might have a role to play? tigerdirect has 6950's for $250+, which is still crazy. You're better off getting a 7870 at that price; it's better for gaming and mining.

It's obviously a pricing error. Also way to thread necro.

1133  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: ebay scam on selling used cards - the 0 feedback bidder trick on: November 30, 2012, 02:32:10 AM
I dont sell much on ebay so maybe this is a dumb question, but how is this a scam? I also dont mean to sound like a dick here. I understand how this is annoying in the wasted time but as long as you wait on payment before shipping what does the buyer/scammer gain by doing this?

seller sends item first, scammer doesnt pay. doesnt always work though if the seller is smart and waits for payment first , which protects himself from falling hook line and sinker
1134  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: ebay scam on selling used cards - the 0 feedback bidder trick on: November 29, 2012, 07:06:58 PM
put your cards as buy it now. ebay has smaller fees for electronics if you post as buy it now. auction has a flat 9% fee. electronics however has a 7% fee for the first $50 and 5% fee for the remaining 50-1000 dollars, and an even small fee for any remaining amount after that. also if you require "immediate payment with buy it now", then 0 feedback users cant do this scam in the first place.
1135  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 5870 with loose fan on: November 28, 2012, 02:23:18 AM
Hi. I live in wisconsin, so cheap shipping. Is the card reference or something else? If non-reference, got a brand/model? Also can you describe the fan symptoms? Does the fan scream/squeal, or is it a rattly sound? Does the fan tilt on its axis or can you only (lightly) pull it straight up and down? Just need to know if I can fix this or have to replace it. One of my reference 5870 fans has disintegrated on the inside. It almost feels like the metal axle has separated from the fan itself, but I'll found out soon when my fan from china arrives Wink

The card looks like this

I think it's a reference card?  I can adjust the voltage and drop the mem to 150...please correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't that a sign of a reference card?

The fan does not scream or squeal, but it does make the rattly sound as if the fan is nicking the heatsink or something.  When I took the card out and gently spun the fan manually with my finger, I could feel it was very slightly loose.  It seems as if the fan can be pulled straight up and down a very tiny bit, and the fan can be pushed from side to side an even tinier bit.  As soon as I heard the noise, the card was out of my computer within 5 minutes.  When the card runs, it would be quiet for a second, then get loud for a few seconds, then quiet again, then loud, then quiet, etc.  It seems to be shifting in and out of it's central position when it spins.

Hope this helps Smiley

Reference will use that cooler, as well as having the "AMD" logo down by the PCI-E slot connectors, like the picture you linked, so yup. reference. Great for undervolting. As for the fan, I think I am familiar with that malfunction. I think I can fix it. I think I will buy this. I have traded successfully here on forums, and MANY times in #bitcoin-otc as per my -otc ratings link in my sig. Does the 7 BTC offer still stand? ATM I'm short on bitcoins, but I have dwolla, paypal, popmoney, amex serve, maybe cash in mail.. otherwise need to wait for my mining pool to fill up my wallet.

Do you have new, even lower prices? bitcoin is still in rally mode at over $12.50 per coin, and @ 33 bitcoins without accessories and used, i could go buy it new and retail for the equivalent of ~31 BTC (not a black friday sale item either).
1138  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Running a 5870 on a 450 Watt PSU? on: November 16, 2012, 03:51:07 AM
Ok sweet it's a Rhino Panther 450W ATX Power Supply I plan on upgrading it soon though. Thanks

Ehm, I wouldnt go with that. It only has 20 amps on the single 12v rail (thats only 240 watts!). The 12v rail is really the only important thing. 5v and 3.3v is generally used to power small stuff like SSD, hard drives, a couple circuits here and there...

If you want a 450W to be proud of, go for the rosewill capstone 450W @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066

I have 2; 1 modular, the other not. They both power 2 radeon 5870 at stock clocks under full load 24/7 without breaking a sweat. The full amount of capacity can be drawn from 12v, and they are 80PLUS GOLD so they  have very little exhaust heat, and you'll save money on your electrical bill. A typical budget power suplpy may only be 70% efficient, which means if you're drawing 300 watts of DC, you're drawing 430 watts at the wall (300/0.7 or 70% = 430). The other 130 watts gets converted into waste heat inside the power supply. An 80PLUS GOLD power supply may be about 90% efficient at 300 watts DC, which means you're drawing 333 watts at the wall and only have 33 watts of waste heat to vent out.
1139  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Seagate Hard Drives for BTC |50%+ Off Retail | on: November 13, 2012, 12:34:36 AM
I'll buy 1 Seagate 3TB. I got excellent trust ratings at #bitcoin-otc (See my sig) and ebay, so if you wouldn't mind, I'd prefer that you would ship first, because this deal seems too good to be true. Also a long time member of the forum.

Sell the 6790 on ebay for $100, buy a 5830 for $70. problem solved.
