1421  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Underclocking memory on 5830 causes crashes on: July 13, 2012, 01:30:14 AM
Bad memory clocks shouldnt allow you to do a VPU reset. They will often cause hashing errors (hash returned <1 difficulty) or hard freezes. A VPU/driver reset is usually because your core speed was too aggressive for the voltage you're at. Extremely high core speeds can cause a hard freeze too (1050MHz @ 1v as an example). Either decrease your core speed or increase your core volts (I suggest the former, unless you dont pay for electricity)
1422  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: AMD A10 the infernal hashing Hellraiser? on: July 12, 2012, 08:26:14 PM
The A10-4600M has a Radeon HD 7660G (384 cores @ 686MHz) (I'm assuming since it starts with a 7 its GCN)

A 7750 has 512 cores, and at 900MHz gets 136MH/s.

Doing the math from 512 cores -> 384, and from 900MHz -> 686MHz gives us ~77MH/s.

Assuming a 900MHz overclock (just like Ilikeham's A8-3870), that gives us ~102MH/s.

Do we know enough about this proc to estimate mhash/w?

As far as MHs/W, we don't know. But, those GCN are pretty power effecient, so it's bound to be pretty decent. I'm gonna throw it out there and *guess* at under 20W for ~77Mh/s, and under 30W for ~102MH/s.

Wow, thats actually really beefy for an integrated GPU. you could easily play modern games on that, with some compromises on quality options of course.
1423  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: USD between MTGOX <--> DWOLLA on: July 12, 2012, 11:27:26 AM
Holy crap, why wasn't I aware of this thread earlier? I've been doing the loooooong mtgox to dwolla shuffle for weeks now Angry. Looks like I'll need to frequent this thread every month or so until mtgox and dwolla fix their shit.

Just a 5ghash miner here selling coins. I'm surprised how clean this thread is. No mention of potential scams or shifty users, I'm amazed. I'll keep an eye on this thread when I need to dump some BTC/MTGOX USD for some cold hard dwollas.
1424  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 3x Reference 5970's on: July 12, 2012, 11:07:59 AM
Necro bumping another 5970 thread Tongue
1425  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 4X 5970 FOR SALE on: July 12, 2012, 11:00:52 AM
Do you ship from Iceland?

Who will you use for escrow or will you ship first?

Photos?

Thx...

Asked the same questions I was going to ask, well aside from the iceland thing. I wouldve just asked where he was shipping from or if he would be willing to ship to/within USA.

Free bump, but still sketchy
1426  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Gimme some offers: 3x 5970 and 1x 5870 on: July 12, 2012, 10:58:23 AM
Free bump for you. I got some first hand experience with 2 5970's. I have cores stable at 675, 685, 720, and 745 @ 0.95v, so I guess 675 is pretty normal Smiley
I'm still interested, but I'm strapped for cash pretty bad right now. Let me know if $240 shipped to 54501, USA for the AMD/Sapphire 5970's is in the ballpark of being acceptable though. I -MIGHT- be able to work some funds out, but don't hold your breath.

Also something I found interesting. I got an ATI and a HIS branded 5970. The only difference is the sticker. The BIOS's between the 2 cards were identical. CRC32/SHA matched.
1427  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Underclocking memory on 5830 causes crashes on: July 12, 2012, 10:44:42 AM
Are you inching the memory down? Or are you bringing it down suddenly? Are you doing it while the card is idle or under load? Some cards have very unstable speeds that you should avoid. My asus 5870 absolutely HATES anything from 212MHz and higher to an unknown amount, but its safe at 300MHz. It's the same at around 380+ and 600+ as well. Also some cards or motherboards absolutely HATE changing memory under load (hard freeze). Set your target memory while idle. You may have run into a deadzone. Just keep trying different "regions" of memory frequency. Doesnt like 150? Try 175. Doesnt like it? 200. And keep on going. You may get BSOD's or hard locks. Won't hurt your card, just reset and try again.
1428  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Unstable hash rate with Radeon 5970 on: July 12, 2012, 09:09:45 AM
You shouldnt get more than 340 mhash on a 5970 core @ 725 MHz, even with perfect ram speeds and miner/kernel options. If you're spiking 350-370, definately something awry going on there. Is your GPU activity maintaining 99+%? Doing nothing on the computer running on the miner? I'm running 5830, 5870, 5870, 5970, and 5970 and I get sudden dips of GPU activity (40-70%) if I do ANYTHING on it, and it kind of cascades between the 7 GPU's for about 30 seconds before stabilizing and getting back to 99.5+%
1429  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Delta 80mm DC fan FFB0812SHE on: July 12, 2012, 06:14:48 AM
Looking to buy a Delta FFB0812SHE shipped to 54501, USA. Pretty stuck on this particular model to assist cooling my PC Power & Cooling 1KW. VHE is the next slowest grade and it's not fast enough, and the EHE is the next fastest and is too loud. Needs to be molex, molex passthrough, 3 pin, or PWM 4 pin. If you know of a 80mm x 38mm fan with similar acoustics and air flow/pressure, list it here.

Payable with BTC, MTGox Funds, or Paypal. Have Dwolla too but no money in it atm. Send me offers.
1430  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7870 and 7850 are here! Anyone bought yet? on: July 12, 2012, 04:17:39 AM
WHta is wrong with GUI miner? I have used it for over a year and it has served me well so far. It also is giving me 308mh/s at present with my new card. With extra flags it used to give me 207mh/s on my old hd 6770 which was very good for that card, my son has that one now. Do the other miners offer better than what I presently get? This is why I was looking for extra flags to push the hash rate up. Thank you for your reply and any further info you can share. Smiley
better kernels

GUIMiner is just a frontend. It's not a miner. You can plug in the kernel you want (diakgcn/phatk2/opencl/etc) with the miner you want (poclbm/phoenix/etc) and have the same performance as the more popular miners. Some people just don't want all the bells and whistles and stick to what works. Why fix it if it ain't broken?
1431  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Damaged ASUS P8H77-V on: July 12, 2012, 02:06:49 AM
I tested the motherboard with an i5 2500k. Everything I tested seemed to work, which includes:
-Integrated CPU graphics and PCIe Graphics cards
-All memory slots
-USB ports

I will be open to offers over $60, since technically the board is partially defective but I did not notice any problems during my testing.

Very cool Smiley Might be worth looking up the function of each pin to see how critical they are. I remember screwing up an Opteron socket 939 processor. I was just starting to dip into watercooling and I screwed something up and had to disassemble the whole loop, but my thermal grease was too... sticky? suctiony? I don't know. But when I went to pull the waterblock off the CPU, it pulled the CPU with it, even though the CPU was locked into the socket (?!?). Broke 3 pins, bent (but fixed) many others. Thankfully they were all grounds, and the CPU seemed to work just fine without the extra grounds.

For some reason, this thread title remains bold, even though I've visited it 5 times now. Bold font hax?
1433  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: AMD A10 the infernal hashing Hellraiser? on: July 12, 2012, 02:00:56 AM
Now why would CPU+GPU be lower than just GPU by itself? Seems odd.

Because the Trinity modifies clocks on the fly the be within TDP. If you use CPU only, it runs CPU at full (or higher) speed. Same with the GPU. if you use both at the same time though, they both run sort of in the middle as far as speed goes

Do you think the ones with the tail have sturdier soldering? I ruined all my 16x > 16x's because of bad solder jobs.

1439  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Sapphire 6870 dead or headed that way? on: July 10, 2012, 06:07:32 PM
No sure what the GPU temps are; I don't use GPU-Z since the labels are kind of vague. I prefer hwinfo; better labeling. If it is indeed the VRMs though, double check to make sure that the little minisink on them is still securely in place. It's possible the thermal pad is damaged somehow and not transfering heat. In order to check (or replace) this though, you need to take off the heatink. Might be worth doing a little TLC on it anyways with a soft bristle toothbrush or mascara brush and get all the dust out of the heatsink(s).

Paid 34.7BTC for the second 5970. Transaction ID ccd64ebd4e22ed01f68ca55b19c55e9f8e9d654407cbaabfe234dc5cb4182f8e

Edit: Received both 5970's in the mail today. So far, cores are peaking at 680, 690, 720, and 745 @ 0.95v. Need the mounting brackets though. Seller said he will send them out, presumably at no charge to me Smiley
e2: I didn't realize how WOOOOOOOSH those blowers can put out. I cranked them up, and it's like a hair dryer. I might need to tear apart my frankensteins to figure out how to secure the cards without a mounting bracket.. Didn't realize how restrictive those buggers are.

Also, I'd love to say I'm interested in 5970 #3, but i'm obviously strapped for cash and cant afford upgrades for a while.
