1982  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: GUI Miner won't work on: August 30, 2011, 12:39:38 AM
you said gui miner is running but you can't see it? maybe the position is bugged. find the poclbm.ini or poclbm.cfg (its poclbm.something, idk what it is) and change the postition to 0's. had to do it one, it was like 999999999 for some reason once. changing to 0's fixed it

1985  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS : 1-1.2ghz mining rig & other stuff on: August 28, 2011, 08:52:37 PM
I'm kind of interested in the 5870 but the fan issue has me worried. I had a 5870 reference that fan died too, now it's in pieces (just got too loud and spun too slow while vibrating, 5870 overheating about 95-100C at times. Fan went from 4700 RPM to 300RPM at 100% fan) and a VF1000A on the GPU, but leaves the VRM's and RAM completely uncooled, forcing me to underclock.

I might be interested in the area of about $160 though since I'll have to take money out of my pocket to find a new GPU cooler, likely a VF3000A.
1986  Economy / Goods / Re: 1.24 GHash Rig @ 594W for Sale - 4x HD5830 - High Performance!!! on: August 28, 2011, 08:46:03 PM
WIsh I knew how to push that sort of power envelope.

My 3 x 5830 rig with a PC Power @ Cooling 1 KW turbocool and dual core AMD (not sure which, but I tried undervolting and turning off a core, nothing reduced watts) and my kill-a-watt meter says about 680 watts at the wall socket while mining. :/
1987  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Do I need xfire bridges on: August 28, 2011, 08:41:38 PM
Cheers guys. I did just that and it works great Smiley

Next question, whats a reasonable oc on a 5850 at stock and a 5870 at stock? Or to put it another way whats the average hash rate I should be trying to achieve???

5850 = 400-420 MH/s
5870 = 435-460 MH/s

Cheers.

So around what core speed would I be looking for?

You won't see those speeds until you hit around the 1 GHz mark. My 5870 was just over 471 @ 1015 core / 330 memory. There is generally a formula to calculate how many mhash you can do given a certain amount of stream processors and core speed on VLIW4 cards.
1 stream processor @ 1 MHz will do about 290 hashes/sec, so just scale up from there. 5830's have 1120 stream processors, 5850's have 1440, and 5870's have 1600.

So take your 5850's, say you want to run at 950 core.
290 hash/sec x 1440 processors x 950 core = 396,720,000 hashes/sec or 396.72 mhash/sec.
1988  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - updated Aug 24 with new miner versions on: August 28, 2011, 08:33:26 PM
After updating to the newest version, it gives me a "FATAL kernel error: GPU not supported! phatk2 is designed for ATI 5xxx and newer only. Try -k poclbm instead." error when using phoenix.
I have an NVIDIA GTX 260 and using the previous version of GUIMiner, I had no problem with mining with phoenix. In fact, it gave me around 5 Mhash/s more than OpenCL.

And since you didn't get around to implementing my last requests, I'll just post them again..

1. The ability to remember previously used flags. There could just be a drop down menu button next to the text input field.
2. The ability to minimize to the task bar instead of only just the tray. (and when you press the X button, for it to actually close, not minimize to the tray) Options, please!
3. Also, regarding my request for keeping the window the same size and position when restarting the program - the same position is kept, however, the size still reverts to default. I have the window stretched a little more than default, horizontally, however, when I restart the program, it still goes back to the same default size. But the positioning of the window is fixed.
4. When I press refresh balance for the first time and it asks me for my token, please make it so that the "(paste token here)" is pre-highlighed or allow it to become fully highlighted by triple clicking on it.
5. If you do add the ability to minimize GUIMiner to the task bar instead of only to the tray, could you make it so that it displays the MH/s in the title of the program, so that it is shown in the task bar. I'm not sure if you have ever used utorrent (I'm guessing you're familiar with it), just like how on utorrent you can have it so that it shows your up and down speed in the title bar, that's what I want with GUIMiner. For it to have the MH/s in the title bar, at the beginning of it (because if it's at the end of the title bar - ie after "GUIMiner - v2011-07-01" - then there won't be enough room to display it in the task bar.

So basically, I want it to be like this:
"##MH/s - GUIMiner - v2011-##-##"

Thanks for reading and your consideration.

You can still use phoenix for your nvidia cards. You just have to specify using the poclbm kernel instead of any of the phatk kernels since phatk is ONLY meant to be used with ATI cards that are 5xxx or higher. Just do what it says and specify using the poclbm kernel with the "-k poclbm" in extra flags. Make sure all your kernel arguments come AFTER specifying the kernel (such as AGGRESSION, VECTORS, etc) and phoenix-specific arguments (such as -a 200 for sample size, etc) BEFORE the "-k poclbm"
1989  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [Update]Looking for 5+ GHash for 24 hrs. I will pay 8 BTC on: August 28, 2011, 08:28:53 PM
I have just shy of 2, is there something we can work out? 4 x OC'd 5830 @ 336, 330, 324, and 316, 1 underclocked 5870 (no vrm heatsink) @ 371, and 1 5830 I use while gaming/browsing, about 200-290 depending on what I'm doing, or 330 when I'm asleep.
1990  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling GPUs 5970/5870s on: August 28, 2011, 06:55:13 AM
I may be interested very soon if I can't get some 5870s from ebay. I'm VERY leery with trading btc for stuff on this forum since my first serious transaction on these forums was a scam and I lost $120, so unless you have some other people that can vouch for you, i'll probably stay away, otherwise I'm very interested.

Sweet working again. Oh and just click payout if you want to payout.

But that's just it. I don't SEE a payou......OH, NOW I see it. My eyes were glued to the payment part and I just couldn't find it. It was up by the hash rate. Sorry, carry on! Site is legit.
1992  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [180G]solidcoin pool [1% fee/real time stats/LP support/IP/AP] on: August 27, 2011, 09:48:43 PM
I don't see any instant payment button, and autopayment doesnt work either.

Is this a scam?
Also forum link on your miner site doesnt work https://solidcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34226.0

I need my solidcoins, why won't you pay out!

And now the site is in japanese what the hell!
And now it's back to english... this is really confusing... -.-

Has anyone even been paid yet? Just wondering because I haven't been paid yet and I got like 30 coins built up.
1993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] SolidCoin - new and improved block chain. Secure from pools on: August 27, 2011, 09:34:14 PM
Edit: and at current difficulty (16,819), the exchange rate has to fall below .009 before mining SolidCoins is less profitable than Bitcoins.

At difficulty 16819, the parity would be 0.01455053 right?
(16819 / 32) / (1806098 / 50)

You are correct. I forgot about the 32 coins  Tongue  It briefly dipped below parity earlier today. Still, as someone elsewhere said, 'I do not mine for what the price of coins are today, I mine for what they will be in the future'. All miners are inherently long on whatever coins they are mining, and it appears by the network graphs that more and more miners are long SolidCoins.

But coins are also generated faster (32 every 3 minutes vs BTC at 50 per 10 minutes), so its even more in favor of SC

If anyone is interested, I need someone to double check the math on my (very messy) spreadsheet to figure out if SC or BTC is more profitable to mine.
Check it out and please find mistakes! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjXdY6gpvmJ4dGxqSmhrektQZ2FVVTNiNUE2RnM0U0E&hl=en_US#gid=0
1994  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Getting Low Mhash Numbers (MSI 6990) on: August 27, 2011, 12:25:06 AM
Just wanted to update:

The card I was dealing with must have just been a bad batch one because I just got in another MSI 6990, switched it out with the previous one and now I'm getting ~410 mhash/s on each core and the temps are staying under 80 degrees.
My other MSI 6990 in the same spot and with the same exact settings was running at high 80 degrees and with only ~370 mhash/s on each core.

Luckily I sold the other one already and might go with just a 6950 in addition to the 6990.

You're also using old guiminer with old poclbm/phoenix. use the one that got released in august. it has phatk2.2 and much faster
1995  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: August 27, 2011, 12:12:35 AM
Damn, I wish I could get my money out of Solidcoins fast enough to pick up another one!

You're making hundreds of dollars in Solidcoins?

Same question, You're making hundreds of dollars in Solidcoins??

My thoughts exactly, You're making hundreds of dollars in Solidcoins???
1996  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Selling my Sapphire Radeon HD5830 1GB XTREME on: August 26, 2011, 06:34:09 AM
If you can get 250usd for a used 5830 on ebay sell it there considering newegg just had them in stock for 109 and 129
and I missed it? the hell.
1997  Economy / Goods / Re: Want Small Thumbdrive (1 gb, 512 mb) for .05 BTC on: August 26, 2011, 05:57:15 AM
less than 50 cents for that _plus_ shipping? You're out of your mind. Unless it's a matter of life or death, I don't think anyone would mail you anything for 0.05 btc unless it was a piece of paper, then a regular stamp would just barely let the seller rbeak even
1998  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: AMD Catalyst™ Control Center / AMD Vision™ Engine Control Center 11.8 Released! on: August 24, 2011, 10:25:56 PM
My underclocked (no vrm heatsink) 5870 has no change in hash rate 371.8 MHash/sec. Too early to tell if temperatures are different.
800/330 1.000v
GUIMiner - v2011-07-01
Built-in Phoenix 1.5
Phatk 2.2
-k phatk VECTORS BFI_INT WORKSIZE=256 AGGRESSION=16

Also in GPU Caps Viewer, my opencl version didn't change.
OpenCL 1.1 AMD-APP-SDK-v2.5 (684.212) FULL_PROFILE

I tried re-installing again and with standalone opencl, and the version remains the same. Weird.
1999  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - updated Aug 23 with new miner versions on: August 24, 2011, 09:57:21 PM
Can't wait for updated updated version with fixed share display! I'm antsy to use new phoenix.
2000  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: HIS 5850 Unstable above/below 775/600 @ 1.088v on: August 23, 2011, 02:03:05 AM
Any ideas why I cannot OC this card?  I'm get a steady 316MHs with the current settings but feel I am underutilizing this card.  If I adjust the core speed to 774 or 776 the card stops mining.  What am I doing wrong?

600MHZ ram speed generally isn't stable. You'll have to try about 800+ or sub-350. There are certain straps where memory will jump to a different timing; the higher the mhz the higher (looser) the timing, but it only changes at a certain threshhold. 600mhz is probably close to a threshhold (timings are too tight) and not stable at that frequency.

Also I found if you are going to change clocks on the fly, make sure there isn't a significant load (mining) on the video card, or it can cause bad problems.
