I have a 1200W power supply, Sparkle (SPI) Magna Pro Gold. Single rail, 8 pci-e, 80plus gold, and modular. Check my thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=219185.0 . Asking only $155 + ship. It's definately not a coolmax piece of crap since I ran 8 5k series radeon gpus on this without breaking a sweat, I'm selling though because I need a little more power because I'm moving to 7k series gpu's.
622  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7/8 GPUs per Motherboard on: June 14, 2013, 08:12:06 AM
i run 8 gpu on many of my rigs, but they are all 5k series. 7k are known to have driver and OS related limit of 4-6 gpu depending on driver revision and OS (rumor has it that 4 7990 dual gpu will work, so thats 8 gpu, but no proof out yet).

if you have missing gpus in your device manager, you either screwed up your riser, or forgot to short pci-e presence pins, or some sort of hardware limit with something to do with so many devices per set of pci-e slots (try different slots)

623  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5x7950 Gigabyte WF3 Rig using 1475 Watts!!! on: June 14, 2013, 08:08:57 AM
gigabyte triple fan cards are voltage locked, period. no amount of bios flashes or editing will change that. unless you have the multimeter or kill-a-watt pictures to prove me wrong, this is what you will need to deal with when messing with voltage locked gpus and overclocking with scrypt.

I run 6 x 7970 on each computer, powered by only a 1300w psu. They are all pure reference and I can change the volts to whatever I want. They hum along like any other day, no problems

12 kilowatt power supply? Where can I get one of those? Tongue
625  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 7970 GHz Edition, 7970, 5970, 1200W PSU, Brkn5870. Price Drop. on: June 14, 2013, 08:02:24 AM
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition. It has stock clocks of 1100MHz on the core and 1500MHz on the memory, 2048 shaders. The card is game stable, mining stable, like new condition and comes with original box and accessories. It's only been plugged in for about an hour to make sure it works in bitcoin mining and ran error free with OCCT:GPU:3D with error checking enabled. It can be found on Newegg for $450 plus shipping. I am asking $380 $375 $370 plus shipping.

I recently melted one of my Gigabyte 7970s so I'm interested. Those cards only cost ~$470 new though so I think that's a little high for second hand. How long has it been run for? If not long as another respondent suggests then I can understand the price.

Also, what is your shipping charge to the UK?

Kate.

It's only been powered on about an hour and tested with occt:gpu:3d to make sure its 3d stable and ran a little with bitcoin mining (notice I already said this in the quoted text). It's practically brand new, so consider it to be like an "Open Box" like you see on newegg. Newegg price is $450, I am asking for only $370 + shipping. I don't know what UK shipping will be, but with USPS priority international, it could very well be in the area of $25-$50. Considering you have a 20% tax over there, thats still a good deal.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this item. I just prefer pure reference 7970's, but I see miners and gamers alike using the triple fan gigabytes anyways and they are happy with it.

too low of an offer, sorry. 7970 can do 717 mhash if overclocked to 1200 core 150 memory. all my cheap cards have sold too.
627  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 2 XFX 7970 black editions for sale on: June 13, 2013, 06:33:58 PM
I am buying if they are made a certain way. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=219579.0
628  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PSU Carnage - Need Advice for a better quality one. on: June 13, 2013, 05:01:15 AM
850 watt for 4 7950, which you are probably overclocking and overvolting, I'm not surprised it blew up. That's easily 1200 watts DC.

I have 4 rosewill lightning 1300, 2 of which I run close to or at 100% capacity with 6 x 7970 undervolted and overclocked (bitcoin, not litecoin). They hum along without breaking a sweat.

There seems to be a lot of hype about the lepa 1600W, but I am not a fan of multi rail. I absolutely hate load balancing.
629  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Silverstone 1500w - Does that mean 1500w DC output or max input ac on: June 13, 2013, 04:58:34 AM
It means 1500 watts of potential DC. If it is 80% efficient, that means you can draw 1875 watts of AC at the wall socket.
630  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Hole Puncher for Rivets custom aluminum case on: June 13, 2013, 04:56:34 AM
Don't hand punch , it distorts the aluminum into a well area, and bends as you apply pressure to punch the holes, plus the punch can be a bitch to get in close or round angled parts...

Just buy a load of CHEAP HS drills 10 for a $ or something, and as long as you don't apply too much pressure, it won't burr when the drill punches thru, and if it does , take it off with a stiff wire brush or file.

Square off all the holes from a guaranteed straight edge, then 'centre' mark the drill spot for all your holes, to prevent the drill bit from 'wandering' when you start the hole.
(if you want to be super accurate use a .5 or 1mm modelers hand held drill to drill the pilot.), and just zip thru the job in quick succession.

I have built mining rigs from ali.
Notice the 'corner rods', this allows me to adjust the width of the rigs, by dropping in a new doweling, or fold the whole thing down if it needs to be transported or stored.

also see the "double riveted" top  part & bottom, this is to guarantee the squareness and to prevent folding

I'm currently working on another 30 board rig.

What am I looking at? Is that ASIC?
631  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Question about x16-x16 Riser with molex on: June 13, 2013, 04:55:28 AM
Do x16-x16 risers even need to be powered?  I thought the whole purpose of powered risers was for x1-x16 because the x1 slot on the motherboard does not provide the same amount of power as an x16, thus using a molex to supplement it.

They supply the same amount of power. All the 12v comes from the first couple of pins before the notch. After the notch, all of that is dedicated to data.

Great Smiley

If these cards were purchased quite a while ago (maybe 8 months or longer, just ballparking it here), they likely have the code. Newer ones are not pures. They got this green pcb with a different code. Non-working VRM temperature sensors, don't clock as high, just all around meh. They work fine at the advertised speed though.

The code on the cards is 109-C00037-00

Still interested?

That code indicated its a Radeon 5970. Are you sure you're looking at the right card? I am interested in the 3 7970

I'll do $975 shipped for all 3 7970's, but provided they really are reference and not knockoffs, they are game stable, and have the reference style heatsink and turbine-style fan. Their pci-e 16x connector needs to have the 109-C38637-00 code on it too.

Also if you do agree, lets hope the shipping doesn't lose the package again Tongue
635  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to Mine with 6 GPUs in Windows - 7950s on: June 12, 2013, 01:18:48 AM
Way to pretty much copy paste my guide. <_<
636  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining bug with GTX-680 and HD 5870 in cgminer :/ on: June 10, 2013, 04:58:46 PM
you can install both cards fine and game on them. cuda opencl fucks up the amd app opencl though. I had the exact same hardware, a gtx 680 and a 5870 and this happened to me too.

if you want to mine on both, you cant.
637  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [1 BTC BOUNTY CLAIMED!] Get 6 radeon 7970 installing and mining in Windows on: June 10, 2013, 04:44:12 PM
You will now have 5 GPU working with one with an error code 43 inside the Device Manager.
Open 12.6 and install only to the point where it extracts stuff into C:\AMD\Support\. Do not actually install drivers. We just need to extract.
In device manager, right click the errored GPU -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update Driver -> Browse my computer for driver software -> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer -> Have Disk -> Browse -> Navigate to C:\AMD\Support\12-6_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF and select either .inf file (it doesn't seem to make a difference) -> OK -> Should only have one device listed under "Model". Hit Next.
It should now proceed to downgrade from 13.1 to 12.6, which is the highest version driver that allows an extra GPU. You screen may flicker MANY times, and your device manager may appear to freeze/hang. Just let it do it's thing. It may take upwards of an hour or longer. You may get a BSOD too. Just go with it. If you're coming on 2 hours or longer, try doing a hard reset. You -should- now have all 6 GPU installed OK in device manager and detected in OpenCL. If not, reboot again (just in case).

Can anyone else confirm they've been able to do this step? the manual selection of the 12.6 driver? I've got win8 working with 5 gpus, and the last slot with the error 43, just the same. But when I attempt to select the 12.6 driver following these exact instructions, I'm told by windows that I can't use that driver because it is not compatible with this version of windows...

I can confirm this because I've done it myself Tongue

If you are using a video card that absolutely requires a later driver revision (such as the 7870 XT/Myst edition is my guess), it will be impossible for you to find a solution for 6 gpu in windows. You will need to go linux i guess.
638  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 7970 GHz Edition, 7970s, 6870, 5970, 5850, 1200W PSU on: June 09, 2013, 05:37:50 AM
Whoa a 1200w psu with 20 amp iec. Never seen that before, nice. Why are you selling the 7970's? It wasn't too long ago I saw a thread where you were looking to buy reference 7970's and now you're selling them?  Huh

I'm only looking for pure reference cards. They have a certain quality to them that I prefer. The gigabyte and visionteks that I am selling are not pure reference. They will game and mine more or less the same, but for how I tweak my rigs, I prefer the pure reference cards for consistency.

I'm still buying reference cards, but I don't think anyone will be interested in selling at that price. Ebay has been a much easier venue for aquiring reference 7970's. Not even a couple days ago I picked up another pure ref 7970 for $299 shipped, bringing up my count to 16 7970's. 2 more and I'll have another full rig, and another 6 5k series gpus to sell, including 2 5970's and 4 5870's.

Also dropped prices on everything.

9/26/2013 is in the future...

If it's from the future, I'll bid 20 BTC on your time machine (not the actual jalapeno asic).
640  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Some Motherboard Help Please? on: June 07, 2013, 06:12:06 PM
older hardware doesnt like high density ram

Okay, I managed to find some new DDR PC3200 low density, hooked it up and still the exact same issue... Simply no posting... How could all components be bad? 2 - MB, 2 - CPU's, 2 PSU, Tried multiple graphics cards, 2 sets of new ram... What the hell am I don't wrong...  Huh Embarrassed Lips sealed

Are modern pci-e graphics cards not compatible with these old MB's or something??

Looks like you have found your answer

I have plugged in 7970 to a G41 chipset which uses DDR2 memory. It works no probs. The board also does not like high density ram (2gb stick with chips on only 1 side of the PCB = no post, but 1GB stick or 2GB stick with chips on both side = works)
